Pockets is like the McDonald's of salads. They basically shred up a head of iceburg lettuce and toss it into some soggy bread, and then douse it all in dressing. I just don't see what the attraction is. Iceburg is nutritionally worthless, and a big slab of bread + lots of dressing != healthy. Pockets is great! it is a build your own salad fast food place. I really enjoy it because I am a picky eater and you can choose your own salad toppings. They also have frozen yogurt for dessert. They also have homemade ranch. It is so delicious! Great place to grab and go. read more

Everyone that I tell Pockets is great asks for nothing short of their money back from me and I can't figure out why. I am a vegetarian and have only tried the meatless items, but I love everything I try. This Pockets is the last one standing. Clark St was the first casualty, followed by my beloved Glencoe location, and soon after North Ave closed its doors. I hate the location, as it's not easy to get to from my place and I'm never a fan of delivery. The food is as solid here as any of the former pockets locations. If you are looking for a filling fast meal that's several levels healthier than a trip to Burger King, Pockets is a pretty good choice. Their signature dishes are basically combinations of chopped vegetables, cheese, and/or tuna/meat served in a tasty, warm, fresh-baked pocket of soft bread. I stopped in here for a quick bite one evening before a show down the street. I was looking forward to a "pocket" because it looked yummy and healthy. After eating, I wasn't impressed. I ordered a "pocket" with chicken, green pepper, red onion, mushrooms, Swiss cheese and lettuce. The "pocket", which is really just a large square bun cut in half, didn't hold all of the ingredients. Everything came spilling out the sides. I felt like I was eating mostly bread. The chicken, pepper, onion, mushroom and cheese were of good quality, but the lettuce seemed wilt-y. I was the most upset with the price that I was charged. I was under the impression that I was getting charged a different price according to the menu than the amount that showed up on my bank account. The amount charged was ridiculous for the food that was provided. I was in a hurry and probably should have looked at the receipt before leaving. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I've ordered from this Pockets a few times and it's always just average. A recent visit was particularly terrible though... I ordered the Southwest, but requested no onion, pepper or tomato. After waiting nearly 40 minutes and watching 4 people come and go with their orders, my Pocket was finally available. When I got it home, it had onions, peppers and tomatoes. How frustrating! I realize that what I requested to be left off was probably in the pre-made mix of beans etc, but couldn't they have told me that when I ordered? I would have gotten something else. it's not bad, but i am not a fan. it is definitely healthier and better-tasting than most fast food, but the ingredients are underwhelming. Mixed together, the pocket sandwiches themselves don't even live up to the sum of their parts. agree that the restaurants are kind of dirty, and the food is on the expensive side. read more

I order from here about every two weeks. I have graduated to pockets and salads, but there calzones, soups, and potatoes are awesome as well. A healthy alternative to carry out or fast food. It`s an original concept and pretty yummy. They have expanded their menu options over the last year or 2 and have some great salad choices. I recommend the Southwestern and the Asian.I agree with some of the other posters that there is too much bread. Nobody said you had to eat all of it! Trying to find places that deliver healthy food for office lunch can be a challenge. Pockets fits the bill. Our office orders from here at least once a week. I never have any complaints of wilted lettuce or bad veggies. The bread definitely takes away from the healthiness but if you order a salad they give you a smaller piece of bread which I can eat half of without guilt. Many co-workers love the Southwest Chicken salad, my personal favorite is the Summer Fruit Salad which isn't on the paper menu but is on the online menu. You can ask them to substitute spinach for lettuce in their salads and make it more healthy as well. They are normally on time with the delivery, however, I have encountered a couple glitches ordering online. Overall I think its a great place to order for lunch if you are looking for healthy options that deliver. read more

Just got a takeout chef salad. Got home and it is old! The cheese is so dried out it is hard. No excuse for serving old bad food, someone could get really sick. Too far to go back and return now. I went here a few weeks ago it was sort of late for a Saturday quarter to 9pm (lol) and nothing was else open. At the time I was starving half to death, so I figured why not give this place a try? The menu options are numerous, it took me a couple minutes to think up what I wanted then my friend pointed out the cheesy potato. I went with it and added broccoli. Not too long after placing my order it came out, nice and hot and oh so filling! It perked me right up! The place was very quiet and my friend & I were able to chat for a while. I normally love ordering from Pockets whenever I am in Chicago, but this past order was enough to make me officially end my relationship with this place. Due to the shelter in place order, we ordered the contactless delivery and requested the driver just leave the bag outside of our building door. We figured this would be the easiest method, right? Well cut to the driver continuously buzzing to get in the building and when we tell him to just leave it, he gets through both doors and starts wandering through the building. Once he sees me he starts shouting very loudly that he can't see the unit numbers on the doors. I asked him to just leave the bag there and he continued to yell at me and was waiting for me to provide some kind of explanation, as if I own the damn building. When I simply ask him again to just leave the food, he drops the bag from waist-high level and turns to leave. In the past I have had such nice wonderful customer service from Pockets so this was hugely disappointing. I understand everyone is stressed right now, but yelling at customers and throwing bags of food to satiate your adult temper tantrum is no way to represent a business. Unprofessional. read more

Amazing salads. I've been ordering from Pockets for 20 years and never had a bad salad. They use fresh ingredients and you can create your own. Everything is chopped and ready to eat when you get it. This place deserves 0 stars. My fiancé and I ordered from here Thursday night after a long move and four hours later I woke up sick having received food poisoning. I had not eaten anything all day before Pockets, and while my fiancé didn't get sick I had other ingredients in my calzone including onions. It was so bad I had to go to the hospital and be put on fluids and pain medication. When my fiancé called to let them know as a way for them to make sure it doesn't happen to others, as well as an FYI, they were horribly rude and couldn't have been less empathetic. We weren't looking for anything other than an apology and they interrogated my fiancé trying to make it like we were lying. Be cautious before coming back here. They've lost two customers and many others who I have already warned. The only way one stars makes it on the list is that someone called us to offer his condolences and a coupon back to Pockets. But they have fast service, never screw up my order and if I can hold my breath long enough, I can get in and out with my pocket in hand without breathing in any noxious odors to ruin my appetite. the bbc calzone, no bacon, if you choose to lead a meatless lifestyle like moi, YUM. only unfortunate thing is that the calzones take about 20 minutes to prepare so always call in advance to get it started. recently i was at work and decided to get my calzone delivered. i got on pockets website to get the phone number and they actually have online ordering! i got to simply enter my exact order and then wait for it to be delivered, no hassle. i was very pleased with the experience and i'm sure i will be ordering even more frequently now. read more

The location I use to order from closed, however when I went online it said that they delivered to the same locations still just from a different store. I thought that was awesome! However, false advertisement. About 15 minutes after I played my order, I received a phone call from them saying that they don't deliver to me. Mind you, online let me place an order...odd. I love Pockets! They have great salads. You basically can pick from their creations or else build your own. I always build my own-which always includes tons of their healthy options. The salad is all cut up into little peices which is awesome because with every bite you get a taste of everything! They also give you a warm roll-their bread is awesome! The calzones are huge-I've never had one but I have seen them! Be ready to wait a good 15 minutes if you order one though, because they take a while to bake. read more
