Pocha is short for the Korean word "pojangmacha", which translates to "covered wagon", or street food stalls. Pocha is located in a small strip mall and seems to be the only business that's open when we went on a Sunday afternoon, so there was plenty of parking. The interior has a simple contemporary design and brightly lit. The menu is simple and includes pictures, which I highly appreciate. Some items suggest this is not an authentic Korean restaurant as there are some fusion items like sliders or enchiladas. We went with a few things that we haven't tried before. Grilled tteok-bokki. Usually this is served bathing in a red sweet sauce, but this one is milder and is a dry dish. It's served with a couple of jap chae dumplings, fried seaweed filled jap chae and mini hot dogs. The tteoki-bokki itself is quite chewy. Side order of jap chae dumplings, also came with a couple of fried seaweed jap chaes. A dipping sauce gave it a slight tangy flavor. Pocha street noodles came hot and filed with vegetables. Usually I get something with protein but this light and flavorful bowl of noodles hit the spot. Seafood ramen: We were warned this is one of the spiciest things in their menu, but turns out it was only a tiny bit spicy ( I have a high heat tolerance) The bowl came with clams and squid, so not much seafood. Still, a nice hot bowl that's soothing. Service was very pleasant. Our server was likely new because he didn't know the answer to a few questions l asked, but he was very nice. The owner was warm and welcoming, full of smiles. Upon us leaving, I was glad to see more people arrive around dinner time. If you're around the area, I'd say give them a try and support this small family business. read more

New spot with good reviews, so I wanted to check it out. As a Korean, I know good Korean bar food. You need to alter your expectations when you come here because the food is a bit different from traditional Korean bar food. I ordered a large bossam, and this was not like any bossam I've ever had. First of all, the menu pictures show nice slices of pork (as a normal bossam should look like). But the food I got was just random pieces of pork -- some slices sure, but nothing like the photo. The meat was also covered in this sweet, sticky sauce. It didn't taste bad, but I've never had bossam like that. There's also no "ssam" part of the bossam, which is the cabbage wrap. With the menu picture and the name bossam, it's a bit of false advertising. I also ordered the original wings and honey garlic wings. They were fried fresh and pretty good. Not the best Korean fried chicken wings I've had, but they're decent and will fulfill any fried chicken craving. One big negative is that the chicken isn't served with the cubed pickled white radish. Again, you need to change your expectations when you come here. The radish completes the whole Korean chicken experience, so I felt like something was missing the entire meal. Overall, I was excited to try this place but was a bit disappointed by the two menu items I ordered. I'll have to come back to try other things. read more

We found this restaurant by accident. We were going to go elsewhere, but they were closed so we came here. It honestly all worked out for the best because chief called and he said this is it. I ordered the Bulgogi Yaki Udon and my boyfriend ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice. The portions are generous and the food is so delicious! I ate all of my food and what my boyfriend didn't finish. When I tell y'all the food slapped I really mean it. The beer bottles are also huge and cheap. This was a great experience but Abby, our server, really completed it. Bossam is one of my comfort dishes and Pocha does such an amazing take on it with its marinade that this particular Bossam might become part of my comfort meal rotations! Was looking for a late night eat (past 9pm) and saw that Pocha was open! Located in a quiet strip mall area and was the only thing lit up in this plaza at this time. Service was great, everything came out quickly and we could tell this was family ran. Our server was so kind and when we asked for lemons for our soju fresh she wasn't sure if the kitchen could do it, but was so excited when they could and gave us extra! We got the perfect meal for two of kimchi jigae, bossam and fried chicken. All were delicious! I LOVED the bossam so much! Fried chicken sauce was amazing, I just wish it were crispier. Located in a plaza with a sizable parking lot off the corner of Carmenita and Artesia Blvd this restaurant is located along the row of other businesses. I went around 3pm and it was not busy. Small location but plenty of seating. They had tvs playing Kdramas in the background. I asked the server what were their most popular dishes and she pointed out the two that stood out to me when I looked at the menu. Their Bo Ssam (which she indicated wasn't traditional in the sense it wasn't served with the wrap part using lettuce or cabbage) and the Royal Soba with Perilla seed. This was more than enough food for two people. We were provided some rice in place of the traditional wrap to eat it with which was fine. Slightly sweet and savory and went well with the sides. The Royal soba was refreshing and light. Noodles were firm and had a slight chew, the sauce was nutty. It's definitely a great choice on a hot day. Really wanted to love this place bc of its family-run atmosphere but the food was just ok for me. We got the following for take out: Large Bossam - some may praise the generous amount of pork bc it is thickly cut, but I did not enjoy it for that reason. Pork belly is already fatty so i would have preferred a thinner cut. Also, it does NOT come with the normal fixings that typically balance the richness- lettuce, salted cabbage, raw garlic, perilla leaves. What's bossam without being able to wrap in veggies? Just flavored pork belly, imo. Check out Hanmi on 183rd and Norwalk if you want bossam around this area. Chicken wings, original flavor - these wings were devoid of any seasoning or flavor. Id recommend getting this slathered in sauce instead of the original. Korean street tacos, bulgogi - these tacos were sweet bc of the bulgogi...and the salsa was sweet also. If the salsa had more acidity to cut the sweetness, i wouldve enjoyed more. Cold noodles, no spicy - Surprised to see that this only consisted of noodles, broth and an egg. Maybe I've been spoiled by Hanmi's cold noodles, which also includes a couple slices of beef and pear. The flavor of the broth had a heavy vinegar flavor . read more

However, the ttobokki could be better. I thought the ttok was too hard. The two other Korean places in the same plaza make it better. The bbossam was really flavorful but it didn't include lettuce or Napa wraps like other places. Instead, it comes with chives and sliced pickled radish, and kimchi radish. Chicken wings were a bit too greasy but other than that, good flavor and came out piping hot. Our overall favorite dish was the royal soba with perilla seed. I've always driven by on my way to and from work and on a Saturday afternoon my husband and I decided to come in for a late lunch. I'm assuming the owner is the one who sat and served us and she is SO very sweet. At the end of our meal as we were getting the check she asked if we needed to go boxes and we smiled and kindly said "no" as we had finished everything. Leaning into that ~ We ordered the fried japchae dumplings, my husband ordered the korean street tacos and got bulgogi (but they have three options in total, spicy pork, bulgogi, & chicken), and I got the spicy naengmyeon (they offer original & spicy). They hot foods came out HOT like fresh and steaming, the dumplings were so good. I love the texture of it and they weren't greasy at all. It comes with a dipping sauce that's the perfect addition to it. The bulgogi tacos happened to be the best bulgogi I've personally eaten, they were coated nicely in the sauce and so tender. They come in fours and my husband finished all of it (my contribution was one bite). As for the naengmyeon, I LOVE spicy naengmyeon, if it's an option then I order it. And I was extremely happy to see it on the menu, when it came out, it looked so good. After mixing it I made sure to give my husband a bite first because I had no doubt in my mind that I would have finished all of it (and I did). I think it was the quickest I've finished naengmyeon and I didn't realize it was gone until my husband asked for another bite. It was the perfect amount of spice, it wasn't too much and it wasn't a heavy meal at all. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday night, there was only one other table. We ordered the donkatsu, grilled tteokbokki, and the bulgogi Street tacos. Our favorite was the bulgogi street tacos. The grilled tteokbokki barely had any sausages and the boiled egg was overcooked to the point where it had that grey/green outline around the yolk. The donkatsu itself was a bit chewy in the middle pieces and the rice was stale. Servers were friendly and attentive however, the food wasnt that great.
