They had sauerkraut which gave it a bit of different taste than I'm used to and I didn't really enjoy it. I liked the hashbrown though, very crispy on the outside. You get a table number assigned by the host/hostess then you order at the counter to which they bring the food to your table. It felt very efficient. For context me and my girlfriend were meeting up the rest of our party that had already arrived at the restaurant. Once we got there we met them inside only to be kicked out because we could not wait in the hallway (no one was there besides us) but it was raining. The hostess was extremely rude when she told us to go outside even though we had just gotten there. Then she told us that we had 20 minutes to order or we would not be served. Mind you this was before we even got sat. Not a great way to start our experience but everyone else was kind. Needed some brunch before heading over for vegetable picking in Irvine, so my partner and I decided to try Poached Kitchen. The ambiance is very welcoming, with a lot of indoor seating that has a lot of interior, natural lighting which leads to a warm atmosphere. The service was just as good, with cashiers that were open to any questions and waiters/waitresses were very attentive to water refills, as well as asking if we needed anything when our food was served to us. Very accommodating. Now onto the food, I got a bacon scramble which comes with a side of fruit or breakfast potatoes and a choice of toast. I went with the breakfast potatoes and sourdough, while my partner did a veggie scramble with fruit and sourdough. Both of us were very impressed with the food, as it was fresh, and made with quality ingredients. Also, the portions were great for things such as the fruit, as well as avocado that does not cost extra (yes!). The only reason for a lack of a star was that it was nothing insane, but truly, for a brunch place, this place did everything right. In the area recently and Yelped some breakfast/brunch spots and up popped this joint. One of those walk-in, order at the desk, take a number and find a seat places. Honestly, we prefer the traditional sit down and order type places. But, this place was nice. Came on a mid morning Tuesday and not a bad wait. A few peeps ahead of us in line. Cashiers were cool. I ordered the Chile Verde Benedict and Wifey went Chile Verde Chilaquiles. I had a regular coffee (good) and Wifey grabbed a vanilla latte (very good). Both meals were very good. Would get both again. Hash browns were solid. Service was ok. Waters refilled, though no one asked if I needed a coffee refill. I always leave full and satisfied but never gross and overloaded on grease which other diner foods often make me feel. They tend to have long lines on sunday afternoon but do not let that deter you from coming because the wait is not bad at all. Mine and my fiancé first -- AND LAST-- time here. When we got there, it's pouring rain, and the host stand at the front of the building outside just has a sign that says, "The line starts here" and a line of people formed on the side of the building underneath the cover of the nearby walkway. So, we just get in the back of the line, and we see people leaving the restaurant but nobody from the line is getting called inside, even though we've been waiting a few minutes. Confused, we head inside to see if there's something we missed or anything we need to do to check-in before getting in line. We walk up to entrance and head straight to the ordering counter. The employee behind the counter greets us, we ask about the line, and she says "Oh, I can get your name on the list for 2. It should be like a 10, maybe 15-minute wait." Great, that was easy! That's when I said that they should have someone go outside and tell everyone waiting in line to come check-in up front because it's really confusing. The woman I'm talking to behind the counter says, "Oh yeah, I know, usually we have someone (and points to a ~stellar~ employee!) outside who goes out and takes everyone's name but she gets busy inside, so it sometimes takes a while." At that point, I was already ready to move on outside, happy to have been helped, but the lady is still talking to me about how they need better signage, and whatever, because she was just trying to be apologetic and understanding of our situation. And then Anna comes up!! Anna, comes directly up to my fiancé and I and steps between us and the woman at the ordering counter, completely cutting off our conversation. She says "I'm going to help you outside" super curt and like rolling her eyes and clearly annoyed. My fiancé, myself, AND even her own coworker behind the counter are all completely shocked and silent, my mouth agape thinking of how INCREDIBLY rude that was. Then Anna says, "just go outside." My fiancé and I just literally stopped and stared at each other like 'what is going on right now' while she basically ushered us to the door, in the pouring rain, following right behind us with her clipboard full of names that she's been neglecting. Honestly, I was mad, like about to make a little bit of a scene type mad. My fiancé was hangry and he wanted to leave and go somewhere else, but it was just too much work at that point, especially with the pouring rain. Luckily, Anna saved the day and eventually came outside to all the lowly people and took everyone's name in line. Also, as we were waiting, we saw people who arrived after us go in and basically ask the same questions because of the bad signage and Anna was MUCH nicer to those people. Once we finally were approved by Anna to enter the building, which honestly was a solid 10 minutes like the woman behind the counter said, we got in line at the ordering counter. We were able to order with the same woman we were talking to when Anna first cut us off. The woman was incredibly apologetic to my fiancé as he was paying for our order and said that she was sorry about what Anna had done. My fiancé, being a pleasant and unconfrontational person just shrugged it off and said thank you, but honestly, Anna's behavior was absolutely not ok. The dining experience was basic. The ambiance of the place was nice, everything was clean and the art on the wall is cute. They also have a lot of seating inside and outside. The drinks came out fast as well as the food. Our meals were good, but not great. I got the Chilaquiles Verde, they were mid. ALSO, before we left, I overheard the table next to us say that they forgot to order a latte and went back to the counter to order one and they couldn't because they had already closed down the latte machine. They close at 2 p.m. and they had already closed down the machine at 1:48 p.m. I know it's basically 10 minutes, but like.... you're still technically open.... In the restaurants that I worked at in the past, if we ever did something like that and my manager found out about it, we'd be in some trouble for sure. Overall, would never go back and would never recommend to anyone that I like. The food was nothing I would ever think about, crave or desire. The atmosphere was basic. The drinks you can get anywhere, absolutely nothing special. Anna was rude, mean, ridiculous, discriminatory even? Thoughts and prayers for Anna and everyone who has to work with Anna, can't be easy. This is one of those places where you place your order at the front and then sit down with a number stand and wait for them to bring out your food. The menu was right in front of the ordering spot and was easy to see. I wanted the breakfast burrito because it looked really good. My wife wanted the churro waffle and we usually end up splitting so that way, we can try different flavors. The food came out about 5-10 minutes after ordering. The food was nice and hot and had great flavors! The burrito was very flavorful and the hot sauce included worked really well with the burrito. The churro waffle was also good. Not overly sweet, slightly crispy on the edges with some nice greens on top to give the plate some color. Aesthetically, the dishes were very appealing. Props to them for making food presentable! So why 4/5? I thought it was a little overpriced for what it is. The burrito was good, but it wasn't huge. I imagine burritos like the ones at Snooze and this one is probably half the size. The waffle was decently sized but at around $15 a dish after tax, it's definitely not cheap. If it was priced at or around $10-12 a plate, I would probably give it the 5 stars. But I consider value of what you're getting for what you're paying for and I couldn't give this place a 5/5 stars. Still worth checking it out though, but I probably won't be back here for a while especially since it looks like it took a price hike during the last year or two. read more

The food was pretty good. The chicken waffles was crispy and paired well with the waffles. The waffles lightly crisp and not too soggy and not too hard. The chilaquiles rojos was pretty good. My favorite part was the crema and it paired pretty well with the whole dish. The portions are a bit smaller but is enough to get you full. You guys were spot on with this rec cuz Poached is the perfect place for brunch. My veggie friend loved her Greek omelet and I noshed on the salmon benedict. I did modify it subbing in the Hollandaise sauce in place of the borderlaise (?) sauce. And I nixed the raw red onion that would normally go on top and shows a side of fruit (even though I really wanted the hash browns. #lowcarblifestyle I loved the bed of spinach underneath the perfectly "Poached" eggs. I have had my eye on Poached Neighborhood Kitchen since they first opened and recently had the opportunity to swing by during my lunch. They are located off Harvard and Main, in the same plaza as Ralphs and Chase but they are on the side where the Jamba Juice and HNTea are. I've never had any issues finding parking in this plaza. At Poached you order at the cashier, they give you a number, and you seat yourself. The cashier who was helping me with my order was very friendly and patient. She gave me a few good suggestions based on their popular menu items. I ended up getting the Steak and Eggs ($25) and an Iced Ube Latte ($6). Took my number and seated myself at a small table. It looks like they have staff that brings by water and cleans up the tables. What really weirded me out was that their employee took a cup of water on the table next to me and gave it to me. Other people got new cups of water. I did not feel comfortable drinking from that cup so I didn't drink any water. The iced Ube Latte came out first and it was glorious. Beautiful ombre layers topped with a purple orchid that compliments the ube layer. Just in case it is not obvious, mix up before enjoying. The drink was as delicious as it looks. I know many places make ombre lattes now but this ube latte was actually well balanced and enjoyable. Highly recommended. I would come back just for this alone. The Steak and Eggs was a heavy portion since it also came with hash browns AND toast. I definitely could not finish all of my food. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested. I have a tough time with this one cause I typically like mushroom and herb butter but I didn't like their herb butter. I found myself trying to scrape the still visible parts off my steak. The meat was a bit chewy, not tender. The eggs were super oily and the worst part of all was the amount of egg SHELLS I got in multiple bites. I'm withholding the 5th star because it's freezing inside the restaurant. They have all of the doors open despite it being cold outside and when asked if they could close the door- we were told no. It being cold made the food served get cold fast as well. It's also very, very busy. So the ambiance doesn't feel relaxed and we felt rushed to eat before our eggs got cold, and people were buzzing and bustling around at all times. Which sucked. Because the food was actually amazing.
