Service was awful! Saturday, 7/19/25 around 11am. We asked to sit outside but were given a table by the door - constant foot traffic, and a trash trolley parked nearby. It smelled bad. I asked to move since I could clearly see empty tables outside, but was told they were being held for others. We stayed in that miserable spot, trying to eat while dealing with the stench and people constantly passing by. 45 minutes later, as we were nearly finished, those outdoor tables were still empty. I brought it up again, and the hostess acted like I'd never asked in the first place, clearly annoyed that I mentioned it. I understand the place gets busy, but this completely ruined our meal. On top of that, we had to ask for cutlery and water after the food had already been served - while other tables had both brought out automatically. My wife asked a waitress and was outright ignored. Add to that the fact that we're visibly Muslim, and frankly, it felt like we were being singled out. Was it discrimination or just plain bad service? I hope it's the latter. Either way, management needs to deal with it. read more

To be honest, I wanted to try this place based on the food pictures. I mean, come on, we eat with our eyes too right?! It was OC restaurant week, and they had a few specials. So we ordered the Birria Benedict which came with the classic waffle and a side of bacon. Then, we also got the Gingerbread Waffle (seasonal item), then to drink, a Dolce de Leche and a Vanilla Latte. Everything came out quickly and tasted delicious! My only critiques are that the gingerbread waffle could have used a little bit more of that signature gingerbread flavor, and the food temperature could have been warmer, insteas of luke warm. Service was great and the staff were friendly and attentive. This place is bright, with both indoor/outdoor seating, and bustling with patrons looking for a quick bite, families sitting down for a meal, as well as a group of friends catching up over breakfast/brunch. This place has definitely gained some new fans and may be our go to breakfast/brunch joint from now on. Solid breakfast spot! They do the classics really well - I'd definitely recommend the pancakes and French toast. The breakfast burrito is decent, though the salsa leans more toward a hot sauce. They also serve quality coffee drinks/lattes and a great matcha. Prices can be a bit on the higher side for breakfast, but we did get the whole shebang (just something to keep in mind!). Not a fan! First off, was there a carbon monoxide leak in there the day we went? Every person we interacted with here was lethargic and had zero personality. We definitely weren't wowed by the service! When you walk up to the building, you talk to the hostess outside who finds you a table and leaves a number on it. Then you order at the counter and tell them your table number. Go seat yourself, the food is brought by a runner. Nobody checks to see how anything is after that. We left before the plates were cleared. I had their House Benedict which is served with hash browns. My English Muffin wasn't toasted at all, it was just a doughy, plain, cold muffin. There was barely any hollandaise on the plate, maybe one tablespoon on each egg. It was just too dry, especially since the muffin wasn't cooked properly. Neither of us cared for the taste of their hollandaise, not sure if it was the "serrano aioli" that is listed on the menu or the sauce itself? The ham they use is thin and overly salty. The hash browns were the best part of my meal, although they have the consistency of mashed potatoes that were fried. My husband had their Egg Sandwich, which looks delicious online. Unfortunately what he was served didn't look anything like that picture. There was so much red sauce dripping off it that we thought they had squirted hot sauce all over his eggs. Turns out this was the heirloom tomato "jam" which was super runny. His sandwich was a mess to eat. The "custard eggs" were nothing of the sort, they were firm, overcooked scrambled eggs. You pick a place to sit, then a server brings you a tall chilled bottle of water and glasses to share with your table. Coffee is drip coffee. My husband said it was good. I had their fresh squeezed orange juice. It was fresh, tasted like I squeezed my oranges in my backyard. Very good. I was pleased to see they use organic foods and free range eggs/chicken. The steak they serve is also grass fed pasture raised. Makes you feel better about what you're eating. Hash browns were good. I had their morning scramble with bacon. It comes with 3 eggs, choice of protein and white cheddar cheese, and choice of bread (whole wheat, sourdough, English muffin). My husband had the house Benedict. He really enjoyed it. Looking to take my wife for a belated Mother's Day brunch and came across Poached Kitchen. We also wanted to bring our pup and made sure they allowed pets (which they do). When we arrived, there was plenty of parking (came around 12:30pm). As we walked inside we were greeted by Martin who was super friendly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere as they had chill R&B in the background and the restaurant was very clean. We ended up ordering the Birria Short Rib Benedict with hash browns, Chile Verde Benedict and other hash browns, and an Apricot and Strawberry Waffle for our meal. I would suggest getting some sort of coffee as it pairs well with the waffle. The Dulce de Leche and the Lavender Latte was our choice and it was superb! All the dishes were plated very nice and they looked very appetizing. We also did not have to wait too long for our coffee as it came out about 5 min later and our food shortly after that. So the service is very good here. My chile verde dish was pretty good, the poached egg was poached amazingly (they are called the poached egg lol) and the chile verde was pleasant. I've had stronger chile verde flavors but I'm assuming it was more mild so it did not overtake the delicate flavors of the Benedict. I really enjoyed my wife's Birria Benedict as it did have more bolder flavors. The waffle was exactly how I thought it would be and it was delightful. First time trying this location. Loved how spacious and modern the restaurant looks. It was super easy to set up a reservation for a large party the day before. They had our table ready right on time! Everyone loved their meals. The only negative was that the tomahawk was a bit bland, but after adding salt and pepper, it was really tasty. Their house potatoes were juuust right. Their buttered multigrain bread was amaaazing. I'm usually not a big fan of Belgian waffles (I prefer as many crispy points of contact as possible), but these were really great. They were so crispy and airy. Honestly, no notes! Have been here four times, first as a breakfast date with my husband, and the other times with larger friend and family groups. When busy, there is a hostess to assist with wait times and seating, but otherwise, the way to eat here is order and pay at the counter first, grab your number, and pick a seat. Haven't had a chance to sit at the counter top but the pet-friendly outdoor patio is covered with space heaters you can request to turn on if they aren't on already (albeit they are weaker with the heat than other nearby restaurants). Staff are friendly and attentive although don't expect the typical service a waiter would give at a diner since you've already ordered and food will be placed at your table in due time. The portions and quality of the food, especially the experimental seasonal dishes, are excellent and enough for leftovers if you don't have a large appetite. I went on Sunday at 10am. There was one person in line in front of me. She asked for my name and gave it to the hostess. She said I will be right back. She came back in about a minute. And just immediately started helping the person behind me. I patiently waited since I had a group of 2. Then a group of 3, 5, 2, 4, 4, 2 all went next. They all were seated. But my name was never called. Mind you I was literally standing next to her this entire time. I was waiting for 20 minutes and I was like excuse me are we going to be seated? She said oh I'm sorry I will get your table. She never called my name the entire time. Then she said we can have number 39 which was a booth. Then the party of 2 that was seated incorrectly wrong before us turned to her and asked if they could have the booth. And she said sure you can go to 39! And I was like what?!? My mom ordered the Machaca scramble, also very delicious 10/10, the machaca and guacamole tasted great. Their potatoes were also amazing id recommend each dish. We had the blueberry lemon ricotta cakes next, the lemon was in the butter icing that complimented the blueberry sauce on top and the ricotta pancakes were so fluffy and delicious, first time having these types of pancakes and they really set the bar high.
