The vibes of this cafe are absolutely gorgeous! Went here to catch up with some friends on a rainy day and it was perfect. Someone was playing the piano and ugh I could stay there all day working. Hazy mocha: it was exactly how they described it, hazelnut and chocolate with espresso. Wasn't too sweet and had just the right bitterness for someone who doesn't drink coffee regularly. They had a great assortment of pastries and food as well. Get there early to have the most variety, especially on the weekend. I recently stopped in to get pastries for a vegan co-worker that is leaving her job. I'd never been there before but went based on the reviews. The staff (owners?) were extremely friendly and helpful, and I assembled a good variety of pastries and muffins and lemon loaf. Everything was delicious! The almond croissants were my personal favorite; not too sugary and plenty of almonds. The lemon loaf with raspberry frosting was also a favorite. I try to stick with vegan if the options are good, but I'm personally not vegan. But I will definitely be back as these were all amazing! read more

I went to Lazy Cow and can't begin to say how delicious it was. The lemon meringue tart was the best I've ever had. I dream of going there every day to get the princess cake which is phenomenal. They even made the marzipan from scratch. It was hard to believe that the croissants were vegan because they were so delicious. Have you tried the Snickers cake? We are vegans visiting from Portland, OR and were excited to try it after reading about it online. We ended up coming for breakfast three days in a row! Overall our experience was very good. Positive: -the space is very nice. big and open and toasty warm with nice decor. -the breakfast burrito was delicious - I love the mashed potato approach. -the lemon pound cake was out of this world, and the brownie was also delicious. I haven't had a "real" tasting vegan brownie in many years. -the drinks were tasty -the cinnamon bun was absolutely perfect -they have a free food shelf for those in need which was pretty well stocked. We saw several people come to use it while there. I know this may be a negative for some but I applaud a business using the space to support those in need in the community. - Negative: -they were out of several things on the board when we were there but it wasn't marked. It seems like the energy it takes to tell two customers this information could be used to put a little "sold out" sign up on the chalk board -the bathroom was very nice but clearly hadn't been cleaned in a bit, esp the sink. I appreciate your response Lara, but: There was pretty much nobody there, so I feel it should have been a no brainer to pop around w a bleach cloth and get the tables. The person behind the counter had time to have a discussion at one of the tables. And you're right, I could have brought it to his attention, but if someone doesn't have that priority, how well wd it have been received? Also, the items I got were pulled from platters in your fridge. So they must have been out too long beforehand. I understand why things go melty or flat. But they all were. In addition, I have no idea what to say about the chai. It was just nasty. I have never tasted anything like it and I drink a lot of it. I certainly haven't experienced it since. It was very unpleasant. I may have been there on a (VERY) off day, but you do have several bad reviews. So you might want to consider how to improve the feedback you got. Service was great, we asked a few questions as this was our first time there and the staff was really helpful! We had a hot latte, an iced horchata, and a lavender latte and all three were fantastic. We also ordered several pastries and two breakfast items, all of which tasted really good (moist, flavorful, etc.) especially considering they were all vegan. I have to admit it was okay. Was the croissant good? Sure but it was dry could have used some butter. Was the wait long? Yes the only person behind the counter was chatting up the person in front of me. Was it pricey? Yes for what you get. Was the homeless guy smelly? Yes but he was was very friendly. I first got word of this super charming little business when Lara & friends/volunteers started doing pop-ups in the Roosevelt area. I think it was mostly just cakes then so while not quite my cup o' tea, I was a curious cat and wanted to try 'em out. You could taste the love in them that was to come. [FF] button to now, the Fremont storefront is alive. It's a bit minimalist in design; at least perhaps just for the early weeks I'd imagine. Hopefully they have more plans to spice up the place (wall artwork, small detail/accent things scattered, etc). For now, it's pretty neat. You got a pastel teal vintage couch in the corner, a couple old saloon-style(?) table options, a small bar top seating, funky fresh community fridge w/ pantry and one of the most early/mid-century charming bathrooms (dig that tiny "cow diorama" thing). Chill music can be heard in the airwaves. The staff is usually chill & laid-back. They'll hook you up with drink of choice(s) and/or pastry things. Speaking of drinks, I think I tried the plain horchata and Zapatista coffee latte. Just good stuff; I prefer good decaf as I get jitters often from caffeine now so only a rare treat and with food. Personal mugs accepted! Pastries are more my jam here. The fruit "tarts" (berry, pear, lemon meringue...smooth!) are my tops, then crumble cake (delightfully light) and almond croissant (1 is perfect; a smidge heavy). The Swedish(?) Princess Cake (w/ marzipan?) is yummy with unique flavor but not personally a big marzipan/frosting fan. The chocolate croissant is like a paper weight; it has all the croissant things except perhaps The Fluff texture (maybe rename as croissant roll and/or warm it up slightly; that may help actually...I should try that). Came here because I needed to use the restroom which was the closest one across Vintage Mall. Customer Service/ambience here is great. The lady who welcomed me and took my order was friendly although she did mess up on my drink. I asked for an earl grey tea "iced" since I don't do well with warm drinks. I still got it hot, no biggie, I just asked for iced on the side. I also ordered their pumpkin spiced pie, I believe it's called. Shockingly delish, if you were to compare it to other bakeries. It micmic the pumpkin pie well and the price was also reasonable at $3/$4 at the size of your palm or my palm. It was good that I've found this place. Also looks chill to do work and study here. Noise level was almost quiet. I would definitely be back to try their other goodies or to even do some study/work here. read more

Strange and disappointing, came in yesterday to get two drinks and it took over 10 minutes with zero people in store. Worker looked high and was eating and chewing over our drinks. They confirmed many times what the drinks that we ordered were and still I got the wrong drink, in fact, my drink was so bad. I had to dump it in a bush and I hate food waste, but I straight up couldn't drink it. They closed up immediately after we left, I didn't get to try the baked goods so I can't speak on that part but perhaps if I came in at a different time with a different set of workers it would be a better experience. Sidenote, I'm not from the area so maybe this is their regular kind of service I'm just not used to the lack of hospitality and quality from a seemingly quaint bakery. read more

Update: Thank you for the response Lara. For more context. Many of the pastries and baked goods that day were out on top of the counter. Specifically all of your cookies that my wife wanted to try which had regular flies on them at the time. The croissants were also out. I asked the employee if they had anything else to serve us besides what was left out and they mentioned that was all that was left. It was later in the day. My wife and I refused to eat anything that was left out. We live out of state so won't be trying again any time soon but maybe someday. Original: We really wanted to love Lazy Cow Bakery but as soon as we walked in we saw almost all the baked goods are not in cases and there were flies and other bugs on most things. Do not trust this bakery. Last Sunday my sister, who is anaphylaxis to dairy/milk, ate one of their "vegan" croissants and went into anaphylactic shock immediately after biting into one of the croissants. She had to be rushed to the ER via ambulance and spent hours in the emergency room. We emailed the bakery many times regarding this incident and have yet to receive a response. She called the bakery and was treated so rudely and dismissively- being told that it wasn't the food from the bakery and must've been something else DESPITE her having a reaction immediately after eating the croissant (which is the only thing she had eaten that day). The complete and utter lack of human compassion and the callousness shown towards a young member of the community which they claim to "serve" who had almost died as a result of their lying and carelessness is unbelievable. There is very limited information about their kitchen, and their allergen statement only speaks to soy, nuts, wheat, and gluten. That being said, I would not trust them for any dietary-restricted diet as they have shown themselves to be untrustworthy. TLDR; DO NOT TRUST THIS BAKERY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. Matcha was the worst I've had in Seattle (was room temperature). Most of their treats were gone when we came in. Had to take a quick work call and they coincidentally raised the volume of their music followed by the barista coming over to play the piano and sing right next to our table which was quite loud and disruptive. I walked into Lazy Cow Bakery to get some tasty treats 10 minutes prior to them closing and found very few things available and got the flan, a gingerbread flavored cake and conchas. The flan was alright but the other items were meh. Service was prompt and courteous but based on my expectations from baked goods ( vegan or otherwise), I am unlikely to return. I wish them good luck though and support their greenhouse-aware mission to feed treats to people who are restrained to vegan food choices. read more

This bakery is delightful, and easily a community staple for Seattle! I adore the atmosphere, the little piano in the corner, the curtains and the trinkets on the walls. It feels so homey but open and spacious at the same time. I love their macarons and their lattes, and... one of my absolute favorite things to see at Lazy Cow is the sense of community that seems to be between the workers. Every night I pass by this restaurant, and on occasion, I see people gathered around a table and eating together after the shop is closed. I find that so lovely. If there is a winner for the most feel-good cafe in Seattle, this is it. read more
