Employees are nice and trying their best but something is wrong with management/the franchise owner here because this location is always out of stock of something. Not just the occasional obscure topping, either. Major ingredients resulting in whole sections of the menu being randomly unavailable. I think I've been to this location 3-5 times total and all of those times they've been unable to make something that I've tried to order. So if you're up for smoothie roulette then go for it, otherwise be prepared to walk away empty handed. The food was okay but I had to order something different than what I wanted. We specifically went there because online said they offer açaí bowls. But they were out of all the different berries they typically use. The only fruit add-in they offered was banana. Prices seemed high for the simple sandwich I ordered. This is a really reliable spot for a smoothie. I wouldn't say it's anything special but I've liked everything I've tried. They have lots of additions available too, i add their greens and vitamin C to everything and those are always really tasty! When this is the case, the business must do everything they can to get you to visit there location verses the competition.Once they get you in the door, they must do what they can to keep you a loyal guest. Emerald City Smoothie advertises in the Entertainment Book a free kids sized smoothie, no purchase required. Sounds like a great way to try out the product by providing the smallest size they offer, right... one would think.. Nope, in order to use the coupon you must be 12 or under. What 12 year old has an entertainment book? This coupon just went from a free smoothie to essentially bring a kid to the store so they can get a free smoothie because we know you will buy something to as the adult. One thing that frustrates me is when businesses play marketing games or if as a client you feel like a business is taking advantage of you. The coupon was ultimately honored after I cancelled the order (before it was made) and said I would go somewhere else to make a purchase as I felt the coupon was a trick. The employee stated that he was just following what the owner told him he had to do. To me this indicates I am not the only one who experienced this issue at Emerald City Smoothie. In the end to, the smoothie was nothing different then Jamba Juice and would have been in no way worth the price tag they wished to charge. When the order was received, almonds were inside both the food and drink. My son took a sip of his smoothie before realizing it contained almonds! I tried giving this place chance after chance to make their "energizer smoothie" as it is the only thing I typically order from this chain. However, This location consistently makes it TERRIBLE and is often unclean so it's not worth the convenience of it being by my house ! I went in today again after not going for a few weeks due to it being late and them being open an hour longer than the other location. But, yet again I was disappointed!!! The smoothie was bad and the place absolutely smelled of old mop water and dirty dish rags. I'm very confused by this establishment... they have a menu and allow customers to select the ingredients of their preferred smoothie, customer pays and then the owner is obstinate when the customer asks for a refund when they can't make an almond milk smoothie because they are out of almond milk?? I've been going to Emerald City Smoothie for a couple years now and recently I've been going more as I've tried to be more healthy! And I'm lazy too lazy to switch on my vitamix. However, after seeing the fruit flies around the garbage by where my drink was served today, I'm thinking I may have to start utilizing my vitamix more. Let me back up though. It wasn't just the fruit flies that encouraged my two star review. I try not to knock on the restaurants in my neighborhood, but after visiting time and time again, I've noticed a constant theme on inefficiency and cutting corners which lead me today to realize its time to review. Things that need help: - The cash register area is always dusty; - There is always only 1 employee working. So if they are making a drink for someone else, you will wait at least 90 seconds before they can take your order; - There are only 3 blenders so if there is a line of more then 2 patrons, get ready to wait an extra few minutes as they ring up the line, then go wash the blenders, then start the drinks; - Food items have the price written onto them w. a marker; - They use SYRUP instead of real fruit in some instances - like The Emerald has strawberry sugar syrup instead of real strawberries; - Chemicals are stored under the sink by the food bar (i.e. not in a cabinet) for all to see; - Instead of milk they use water; and finally... - I see the manager and/or owner come in and out and they never offer to help, even when the line is long. If this was just a stand alone mom and pops, I wouldn't say anything. But they have multiple locations so they should know what they are doing. read more

Unlike Jamba Juice, ECS provides real ingredients and healthy options. A variety of No fat, Low sugar, Immune system boost, Help me lose weight, they have everything. They have pre-workout smoothies, post-workout smoothies, and if you aren't looking for workout related smoothies they have smoothies for any taste. The ability to customize smoothies and add boosters to your drink is quite impressive. They allow you to make modifications to the drinks on their menu to make the smoothie better fit your personal preference in taste! As far as accessibility, this store location generally has very easy parking. Surrounded by many other restaurants and stores, the location is prime! You can't claim peaches or apples are in your smoothies but then use peach flavored syrup and apple concentrate. If you actually care about what you're putting in your body do not go here. We ordered 3 smoothies and I noticed at the end he was just squirting flavors into the drinks. We threw all 3 in the trash on the way out...wasted $21. I've been going to Emerald City for years and have always enjoyed the smoothies so this review does NOT reflect Emerald City as a franchise. I will continue to take my business to other locations. This is specifically meant for the Queen Anne location. The reason I'm giving 1 star is because I have been drastically overcharged not once, but twice by an obviously shady employee (Management, if you're reading this, please take note). The first time was back in April. My smoothie was $6.30 and I can't remember if I tipped or not (I never tip over $1 for making a smoothie) but the total should have been no more than $7.30. As I was reviewing my credit card transactions a couple weeks later, I noticed that I was charged $9. While a trivial amount, still annoying, and I was going to dispute the charge out of principle but decided not to in case it was an innocent mistake. But...Just now I was reviewing my credit card transactions in May and I saw a $17 charge for my $6.30 smoothie last weekend! I specifically remember tipping $.70 for a total of $7.00. So I essentially paid more in tip ($10.70) than the smoothie itself! I remember the girl asked if I wanted a receipt and I said no as I don't keep receipts for small transactions. She obviously took advantage of this and hoped I didn't monitor my spending closely and pocketed my "generous" tip. I'm sure she'll claim it was a mistake and that it looked like I wrote $17.00 for my total instead of $7, which could work in her favor, except I clearly wrote out $.70 as the tip. Management - I can't remember who rang me up the first time but if there's a way to review credit card charges against employees, I'd check to see if there's a pattern with the same employee. I have filed a credit card dispute for both transactions and will not be returning. Customers - if you decide to visit this location, make sure to either pay in cash or ask for a receipt and monitor your transactions closely. read more

Arrived mid afternoon on a sunny Sunday for a refreshing, fruity snack. There were a couple other people inside, but once I decided what I wanted, I didn't have to wait in line. I went with the Vegan Berry Blast "Acai Bowl." The bowl contains acai, dragon fruit, mango, and pineapple. After I ordered and went to the bathroom, I was informed that they were out of dragon fruit, so the helpful young man behind the counter making the smoothies recommended raspberries as a replacement. Sure, I like raspberries. The bowl itself is on the small side and not as thick as regular acai bowls. It's more like a smoothie you eat with a spoon (and did taste mostly of raspberries). I'm used to a ton of toppings too (berries, banana slices, hemp hearts, peanut butter drizzle, etc.) and this bowl was just topped with a handful of plain granola. Yes it was refreshing on a warm day, but not worth the $8ish dollars. I do think it's false advertising to call this an acai bowl... My sister ordered the Nutty Banana smoothie and seemed to enjoy it. That smoothie contains banana, peanut butter, whey protein, and nonfat milk. A lot of the smoothies seemed to contain whey protein and I didn't feel like asking for substitutions to make one vegan. Lazy much. The interior of this location was pretty clean and both employees were friendly and helpful. I'd come back again if I happened to be walking by and needed a snack asap. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come for a smoothie or bowl. read more

Went here recently due to an acai bowl craving on a hot day and figured I would treat myself to a special meal. The guy behind the counter was nice enough and let me know that the bowl wasn't very portable if I wasn't going to eat it there. He didn't let me know how tiny it was, and it also had no fruit on top, just granola that I saw him scoop from a bag. It looked more like acai soup with a granola topping. Every other place that sells these bowls takes the time to put some fruit on it, and for $9, that is what I was expecting. Will not be going back. read more
