I called this company to service/repair my AC. Pretty much the same as I am reading from everyone they are way over priced, and took advantage of my ignorance regarding the AC. I take full blame for falling for there shady practices because I wanted my AC working. They charged me a trip fee which was not mentioned when I called for the appointment, and $600 to replace a capacitor. I also had some leaking in the furnace room the guy said he didn't think was the AC. I found the leak after the guy left and it was definitely from the AC cooling coil in the furnace (it was freezing then thawing with a lot of extra water on the floor). After looking online I realize I could have done it myself or had a private contractor do the job for between $150-$200. Don't call these guys for anything unless you want to be ripped off. They are smooth operators with a con-man sort of approach. read more

The electrician, Justin, is wonderful. We had a sparking outlet in our kitchen that lead us to replacing the entire fuse box and meter as well as a ton of other projects. He write out detailed options and fully addressed every little question we had. The work was done well and in a very timely fashion. We were nervous about how much the cost was but in the end we are confident that the work was done right and our house is safe. In a day and age when it seems nobody cares I feel I was lucky to have found this great company. I was just home from major surgery when my AC quit working. Called my usual AC company and it would be a week before they could look at it. I already knew my furnace/AC was old so made a call to Plumbline for replacement and they sent a salesman the next day, which was a Saturday. They were there two days latter and replaced my whole HVAC system. Cannot say enough good about how smooth this whole process was. My surgery had kept me pretty immobile but that never effected the guys from Plumbline. A great crew installed my new furnace and AC. The service tech Austin is probably the best tech I've ever had, really knows his stuff. Yes Plumbline costs more than some other service companies but they are worth every penny. This company is a scam. They have a hot water heater special for $1199 on the website. I called to buy one, the guy came out and worked up a "bid" and wanted $2,000 for a water heater! Get another bid! We recently ran out of water. Our normal plumber came over and said it was a Thermacuple but he had another job he was headed to. We called Plumbline. They came, only slightly after the time promised. I said it was thermocoupler, but we also wantedto replace the old50 Gal heater anyway. He quoted Approx: $3500 to just replace what we had, $6,000 for a power vented one and $7500 t0 8500 for on demand. I said that seemed high, since you can get one at home depot for $800 to $1,000. John said that Home Depot "only sells seconds" . We also needed a flapper for one toilet. He said it would only take a second since he had one in the truck. 5 min later it was replaced. Charge $155.79. Since I was dumb enough not to ask, I paid it even though it seemed excessive. He wrote up quote for power vent $6,000 and went down to set up the heater for us until he could come back. Came back up and said it was not the Thermocoupler, even though we were getting gas and it just wouldn't stay lit. but a gas valve of over $400 , so he did not fix it. So we had no hot water. Rethought his pricing and called another plumber who came out and said yes it was the Thermocoupler and fixed it and then quoted us $3200 for a new 92% efficient 50 Galleon power vent gas heater. FOR PLUMBING SERVICES I GIVE 5 STARS!! They were amazing. This review is for the furnace. When we were having issues with our furnace last year, someone came out and did a good job and fixed it. Just this past weekend, we needed service again. The technician they sent appeared to know what he was doing. However, he made a serious mistake and it burned up our blower and our circuit board. We found this because that night, we smelled burning in our bedroom (clearly the devices were burning). We called again on Saturday and they came out. That is when we found the issue. This technician definitely knew what he was doing. THAT IS WHERE IT STOPPED. His attitude was deplorable. When my husband finished it out with him, he said "We are stuck with you guys for a year, but your house is dangerous". We live in a 100 year old home. We love our home, granted the attic is probably not the best. That said, no other worker has ever complained. When I called the management today, they never returned my call. AGAIN, NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE FOR YOUR FURNACE. read more

I scheduled a plumber for the afternoon, but got a call in the morning that I would be the next customer. I explained that this was a surprise, because I had scheduled an afternoon appointment. I cancelled appointments, re-arranged my day and waited. Two hours later I called to find out where the plumber was, since I had been "the next customer" for two hours. Ruby, the scheduler told me that yes, I was next, but the plumber was entitled to another hour to show up. So I waited. After that additional hour had expired, I called again. "We'll send someone right over," they said. I explained that I was trying to be accommodating but that my time for the day was running out. I was willing to give them one more chance, and since the plumber was in a location that was 30 minutes away, I said, "ok, send him over." After that 30 minutes elapsed I got a call from the plumber who said he would be another 30-40 minutes before he would get there, at which point I simply cancelled. Plumbline ruined my day and cost me money. But I guess they have enough customers that my business simply wasn't important to them. read more

Initially contacted Plumbline to have an outlet switch installed and to have their $21 whole home electrical inspection done on my house. The appointment was set for 12-5 pm on July 3. After taking time off from work to be available, I got a call midway through the appointment window saying the service tech was tied up on another job and couldn't make it. They did not have another technician to send so had to reschedule. They offered a $50 gift card towards my service for the inconvenience. I definitely was not happy about having my time wasted like that, and thought they should have a better scheduling system to handle situations like this, but I accepted the gift card and had to wait for a follow-on appointment until July 9. On July 9, the technician arrived towards the end of the 8am-1pm scheduling window. He looked at the switch I wanted installed and began the whole home inspection. While out at my main electrical box, it appeared to him that my house was not grounded properly to the earth. The only visible grounding source was to our water pipes, and it was his thought that we needed another source. The cost was over $900 to install two ground rods and connect them to the box. He also suggested a whole home surge protector for installation in our electrical box. I agreed to all those initially, and assumed he could complete the work that day based on his comments. However, after I agreed to the work, it turned out he had a doctors appointment that afternoon and he had to leave to make the appointment so couldn't start anything. Again, not happy with Plumbline's scheduling process, however, we worked out a time for him to come again on July 10. Overnight, I did more research into the grounding issue and found out my neighbors were set up the same way our house was. The houses were all built in 2009 and passed inspection, so I couldn't figure out how our house could not be properly grounded. I read online about tests that could supposedly be run by electricians to determine if a house is properly grounded or not. When the technician arrived on Friday morning, I asked about doing the test for grounding. He told me that the test was difficult and the equipment to do it was expensive, so the company didn't maintain that equipment. Therefore, there was no way to do the test. That meant I had to either do nothing or shell out almost $1,000 to have grounding added that I might not need. I elected to do nothing and leave our grounding set up as it existed. The technician then started the work. While installing the switch outlet, he got the hot wire too close to the new switch he was installing. There was a spark and a pop with the new switch casing getting singed and tripping the circuit breaker to the room the switch was in. After that, the rest of the installation went okay with the switch and the whole home surge protector. I then paid the technician for the work that was done, although I never got to really see an itemized invoice for each step (that's my bad). Once the invoice was emailed to me after the technician left, I found that he had forgotten to remove one of the charges for the grounding work that wasn't done meaning I overpaid by $111. It took until July 13 to reach the right people to fix the issue, but Plumbline is refunding the $111. Overall, not happy with Plumbline's scheduling and I think their prices are on the high side after seeing the final invoice. As an example, the whole home surge protector parts were probably around $200-$250, but the total charge to me was around $675. Again, my bad on that though for not doing enough research upfront. Also, not sure how a company can recommend almost $1,000 in work for something they can't really prove needs to be done. read more

Bait and switch. They offered a hot water heater installed for $899. The final bill was over $1600. I had company coming to dinner that night so I was in a jam and had to take the deal. They showed up on time and did a good job. They added a catch basin, an expansion tank and some new exhaust ducting but the final cost was way off the mark. Consumers beware! Do not use this company for plumbing services. They have no integrity and are lacking in customer service. I feel very taken by the way they do business. A couple years ago, I had them do a couple services to help with backup problems. Then a smooth talking representative came over to talk about mainline replacement and an installment plan. I felt manipulated, but needed help. Misplaced trust on my part. I was taken for $7000.The problem that has resurfaced again, is how they ruined my sprinkler system. At the time, I called to complain about this, was shuffled around, then told that they were not responsible and can't predict where the bucket would land. I believed at the time I was told not to worry about my sprinklers. They denied this. Very poor customer surface. The problem resurfaced again, when I just called sprinkler people out, was told the system was totally destroyed and would cost $3000 to repair. read more

I would suggest to stay away from this company. They couldn't find a water leak in my house. The guy spent a bit over an hour in my house, cut 2 openings in the ceiling and could not find a problem. He wanted to cut one more opening, but it would be one more hour of his time, and I was not ready to pay extra $150 and have one more opening in the ceiling, so I just asked him to go. He left without finding a problem, charged me $150 and left 2 openings in the ceiling that I had to pay someone $300 to fix. So, $450 for nothing!!!!!! Also, he said that he would charge $600 (!!!!!) for a gasket and $900(!!!!!) to replace the drain if he finds one or another to be a problem while he was chopping my house. So, in a way, I am glad he didn't find a problem. Oh boy, never call these people!!!!!!! I ended up using a handyman recommended by co-worker, who found and fixed the problem for $50. read more

Very unimpressive for a business that is BBB approved and has so many local advocates that back them. First, they missed their appointment time. When I called them to ask where the guy was that should have shown up an hour before, he said "we called to cancel your appointment and left a voicemail". That never happened. I told them I needed someone to come by. They said they would send someone. The guy gets to my house for a $39 AC tuneup and says "your unit is leaking coolant and needs to be replaced". He said $10,000-20,0000 to replace. I asked how much it was to find the leak and refill my system. It would cost $600 for them to EVEN ENTER my attic where part of the AC is. Then $600 to find the leak, and $600 to fill the system. To get to my attic: 9 stairs to my top level, and 4 stairs of a ladder to a full platform attic. Crazy. Knowing this seems like a rip off, I paid my $39 and had him on his way. I called a local MAJOR competitor of theirs, ARS rescue rooter. $99 to find the leak, no extra charge to walk up 14 steps. Similar charge for coolant. I used a smaller company to do the whole thing and it cost me $280. They found the leak, fixed it, filled my system up with coolant and gave me a 1 year warranty. I understand: large business, larger costs, larger fees. But come on, you guys are over charging your customers! I won't use them again. read more

-11 degrees frozen pipes for my elderly parents. plumbline arrived at 2pm ($42.95 service call). the tech replaced broken pressure regulator valve and small exposed section of PVC pipe! told my dad he owed $750!!! I have called several other reputable, local plumbing companies to inquire about fixing such an issue and was quoted between $225 & 325. at the end my dad did not even understand what had been replaced. the tech showed him a "price book" and told him that's their cost for the part so that's why it was so expensive. general mgr was unconcerned. if you want to pay well above what you should, then go here. My floor drain backed up and Plumbline came out to take a look. They got their camera stuck in my line and wanted me to pay for them to jack hammer the concrete to get their camera out. Plumbline charged $5,400 to replace a 15' sewer line after reporting it was disintegrated. While the contract said the replaced concrete would be a "rough patch" I still expected a patch that was semi-professional but it was horrible. They tried to upsell me on replacing more of the line and became very short with me when I refused. I was told insurance would cover everything and they became impatient when I told them I wanted to consult my insurance company first. To cap it all off, the replaced line was installed with a vent that is directly in front of my water heater. I pointed out to them that the location of the vent would inhibit the eventual replacement of the water heater and they told me I could call them to address it at that time. I'm disappointed that they tried to upsell me and did not do the job right. If it wasn't for my need for a camera in the first place, I could have done the job myself for a fraction of the cost and done it the right way. In the end, it is my own fault for being played by a sales person but I recommend finding a better company that is there to do the job right and for a fair price. I paid for an expensive lesson in learning that Plumbline is there to do the job cheap and quick, charge the customer a premium, and try to upsell the customer for more work. read more

They reported her entire electrical box in back yard needed to be replaced for over $1000 dollars when all she did was blow a fuse. They were at my house once and two trucks showed up for a minor leak. All they did was try to up sell me on repairs I did not need. It's as if the workers were paid on commission. I called 'em out big time (I used to work with Fluidmaster and know the plumbing industry). This past August, I called and made an appointment to have Plumbline go to my in-laws and replace a garbage disposal and under-sink pipes. As this was on my dime, I took time out of my day to go to their place and wait for the plumber. 5 minutes AFTER they were due there, Plumbline called and said that something personal had come up for the plumber and he was not going to make it. This is not the service level I would expect from a larger company. The correct answer was "the plumber we had assigned can't make it, but we'll get another one out there ASAP, please excuse the wait." We called another company and made an appointment for the following week which they kept in a very punctual manner. Next, after hearing radio ads for a "free furnace with the purchase of an air conditioner" (we need replacements for both) in November, my wife talked me into calling them to get a price. I arranged for a "comfort advisor" (presumably someone who can take care of our home climate needs as well as recommend new furniture, beds, clothes, etc.) to come to our house for an evaluation and recommendation between 10 A.M. and noon last Saturday. No-call, no-show this time. Plumbing and HVAC are difficult enough to work on and to have worked on. It shouldn't be a battle just to get someone to show up. Don't waste your time with these people. read more

My elderly parents were bamboozled by this company. My mom called Plumbline because she thought they looked so nice on the television commercial and on the trucks. They were having a very minor problem with one of the toilets (A) that was running water after being flushed. She called Plumbline and they sent a plumber who introduced himself as Brett but had on a nametag with a different name. During the course of his visit he "inspected" their plumbing. He said he was unable to replace the fill valve and the flapper because after testing their water pressure he said it was way too high. It is important to note that he tested the water pressure by holding the gauge under the water heater. He told my mom that he couldn't fix anything until they repaired the water pressure and the old gate valve. He gave them an estimate of over $1000.00. Luckily my mom had the sense to decline the service. She then asked him to look at another toilet (B) because it was not flushing completely and needed to be flushed several times. He went there and opened the tank and fiddled a bit and appeared to have "fixed" the problem as the flushing was now completing on that toilet (B). They paid the service fee and he left. Soon after he left the second toilet (B) began to make a "whooshing" sound every 9 minutes (she counted!). She called his cell number because that was the number on the business card. He said it wasn't his fault and he didn't have time to come back. She said it was most definitely something he had done because it never did that before and only started after he had fiddled with that toilet (B). He said he might be able to come by the next day but that he was really busy. He said he would call but he never did. I am not a plumber but I have replaced the fill valve and the flapper many times and it is quite simple. (I volunteered my services to her for free.) A few days later her handy man came over to look at it. He informed her that the way the Plumbline technician tested the water pressure was not correct and entirely unreliable. He replaced the fill valve and flapper (with the Kohler parts that are unique, which the Plumbline technician never mentioned) and both toilets are now working fine. I also confirmed this information with my cousin who is a certified master plumber in Ohio. He agreed with what the handy man told my mom and in addition he sent me the protocol for testing water pressure because he had never heard of any one testing it on the water heater. I read the protocol to my mom and she said that the Plumbline technician did none of that. My mom followed up with Denver Water and asked about the water pressure. They informed her that her pressure was a little high but was average for her neighborhood and that if she wasn't having any issues with pressure than there was no need to do anything. She told my mom that this was just a ploy that plumbers use to make unnecessary repairs and jack up their prices. I usually try to be at their home when repairmen come just for this reason but I was not able to be there that day. It makes me so mad when businesses take advantage of the elderly. One final point. It is also apparent that my parents have a difficult time with stairs. The Plumbline technician left all of the lights on in the basement and the panel covering the main water valves was left on the floor. This is just poor customer service. read more

This company tried to get me to spend 5600.00to repair sewer main line; I hired a wonderful drain company, Hankel's Drain Cleaning, and for:$140.00 my problem was fixed! I was devastated when I got plumbline, bid. A friend told me to get a bid from a drain cleaner, and I amso glad I did. They came out to my house because my furnace would not ignite, he kept trying to sell me a new furnace for (5500.00) and up, gave me all the scare tactics thinking I would bite. As soon as I said I just wanted it fixed, they gave me a price of $500 to $600 dollars which was high to begin with but I didn't have any heat, so I said ok. next day they came out and said they forgot they needed other parts a told me it would be $1500.00. If this is the way they do business, no thanks! I was dissappointed in my experience with Plumbline Services. What happened: - The technician arrived 90 minutes later than the 2 hour window Plumbline provided. - The technician, who had a rather creepy demeanor overall, asked me several inappropriate questions about our neighbors, including what their names were, what they did for a living, and how often they were away from home. None of this had anything to do with my service call. - After a fairly quick diagnosis of our furnace problem, the technician sat down, pulled out his pad and paper, and...proceeded to sell me "Silver", "Gold", or "Platinum" service plans. He did not provide any information about the problem with my furnace until I asked him to stop talking about the service plans and, rather, to discuss my issue specifically. - He quoted $850 for replacement of a seized blower motor, a quote that quote came right out of his printed handbook. We received a competing quote the next day at $500. On a positive note, the $37.50 service call fee seems competitive, and Plumbline was able to get someone to our home on the day we called. Overall, however, I was not impressed with the company's showing and, frankly, am a little disturbed that the technician may be casing my neighbor's house. read more

These guys used to be good, I needed them to certify my air-conditioning for a sale, they put me off for a month, then they cancelled my appointment right before they were supposed to be here. Then they gave me an appointment for 9 the next morning, I saw the van pull up, park, then leave. Nobody even told me what was going on. When I called, they told me he wasn't an air conditioning guy! I called Plumbline out ($49 trip charge) to take a look at my furnace as the pilot light went out and would not stay on after manually relighting it. The tech came out and quickly and correctly identified that the issue was with my ignitor. He then quoted me a price of $436 because "it was an expensive part" and started to talk to me about signing up for service plans. Feeling like I was being hard sold to I decided to google the cost of igniters and found then to be between $26-$70. I made a call to Classic Heating & Air and they told me that they could do it for much cheaper as this is a simple plug in part and could be fixed in under 20 minutes. I sent Plumbline home and eventually got it fixed through Classic Plumbing & Heating for $190 (It took them less than 20 mins to install the part). I hope my $49 trip charge expense is not wasted and people read this and save themselves from being ripped off like I almost was. Shame on you Plumbline. read more

I called to have a drip fixed on my kitchen sink . Customer service apparently does not communicate with the scheduler. I thought I was going to have a Saturday appointment Which was changed to Sunday then Sunday was changed to Monday. Then Monday's appointment time was changed. The man finally arrived. What I thought would be an easy fix turned out to be a joke. All the rep did was tell how much it would be by the way was triple of what I had it done for after I told him I didn't want his services. I had an issue with my electric baseboard heater not working, as well as a leaking faucet. I decided to go with Plumbline because they were available to come on Saturdays. First, they sent a technician that couldn't work on the heater, but only realized that after he tracked mud all over my carpet. They are getting any stars at all because the plumber they sent out was extremely professional and knowledgable. They then had an electrician Aaron, come to fix the heater. He was incredibly rude, and on top of that he couldn't fix the heater. I should have just replaced the heater myself. read more

Worst company I've ever dealt with as a property manager. We have used Plumbline for several projects and it's been a horrible experience. They don't stick to what they're quoting you. We were told about $200 to replace a garbage disposal and then were billed for $650. More than half of our appointments have been missed or rescheduled at the last minute. They don't send invoices in a timely manner. Send the wrong technicians out that do not have the right expertise/equipment to handle the job we explained to them in detail. Icing on the cake that triggered me to write this review was talking to an extremely unpleasant person named "Ali" on the phone. I needed some clarification on just 3 invoices we had from a series of repairs at one of our rental homes. Only 2 of the invoices were ever sent to us and the dates were wrong, so I called and asked Ali to please confirm the service dates for the invoices I did have and send me the 3rd. Very simple and I know she had that information handy because she told me for the first invoice and it took 30 seconds. When I asked for the same information from the 2nd invoice, she got very short with me and proceeded to tell me that she didnt have time to talk to me anymore. Are you serious??? Last week, we had an underground leak in a vault that we needed to fix, and I called Plumbline and they told me that they could not use a simple sump pump to pump out the water to look at it. I hired another company to pump out the vault before a scheduled appointment with plumbline. The other company, who we were paying to be there, was out there all day waiting, and plumbline never showed. They rescheduled for tomorrow and showed up 2 hours late and the technician told me that he was not certified to go underground. Plumbline knew they would have to go underground so why did they send that guy??? Hours later....they send someone else out who was useless and said they just didnt know what was wrong. I am spitting mad about this service. They charged us $800 / hour to install a water heater - a $800 water heater amounted to a bill of $4200. They claim no "hidden fees" but they won't tell you up front what amount is the part (the heater) and what amount the labor. When pressed for an explanation, they claim the BBB will stand behind them. We'll see. I"m glad the other reviewer got justice; I'll certainly be seeking it for myself. read more
