Haven't been to the restaurant itself. But I've been to the Beer Hall/Biergarten dozens of times and as the Yelp star-rating says "Yay! I'm a fan." Usually go there when there's a band or music genre that I like. I've been there in the summer and the winter, dined inside and outside, and upstairs. The building itself is amazing. Beautiful timber frame construction. And if you're into that sort of thing -- I am -- it's quite beautiful. The downside is that it's an extremely popular venue and usually packed. In the winter, the building is stuffy and it can be difficult to move around and damn near impossible to dance. The people who smoke tend to linger right outside the doors during the colder months. Hey, I get it. It's (essentially) a club. So I deal. In the summer, it's a little better since things move outside. The huge yard can still be packed depending on the act, but at least it's not like riding cheek to jowl in a steamy subway car. They've now reopened with live music outside. I had the opportunity to go last night with a group of friends. One thing I have to comment on is that management is really taking the covid health emergency seriously. It shows how much they care about their customers and their staff. 1) You can only enter from the back. 2) They are limiting the number of people in the park. 3) They take your temperature when you enter. And 4) the tables are marked off in squares so that there is distance between groups -- 10 people to a table/group. Needless to say, I was impressed. Even with a (temporary) no-dancing policy, it was still a great time. the band played to the crowd, which mostly consists of "regulars" (It seems like all the cover bands on Long Island have a cult-like following) and the band seemed to be having fun being out again. The waitstaff was in high gear. They were everywhere since the self-service counter is closed. That does remove a bit of the carnival atmosphere. But frankly, I don't miss it in the least. As soon as we were seated, the (disposable) paper menus came out. By the way, it would be really nice if restaurants produced web-based menus we could access with our phones. It would save a lot of paper. But I digress. No one bugged us. They just wanted to make sure we had what we wanted when we wanted it. So when we gave them the thumbs up, the drinks came swiftly, as did the food. I enjoyed the jalapeño cheddar brats. And even though the menu says "no substitutions" I got mine without the potato salad and doubled up on the sauerkraut. (You didn't hear that from me.) The brats were juicy and spicy, just like I expected, with the right amount of snap in the casing when you cut/bite through it. Dip that into their spicy brown mustard and it's heaven. The sauerkraut is lightly sweetened and if I recall had some caraway seeds in it, just like my aunt used to make. I could eat a pot of that by itself. The other people in my group got plates that looked great and wolfed them down. And once we were done, there was another member of the waitstaff coming to collect the waste. Everything was paper, plastic and disposable, which isn't great for the landfills, but that's not our main concern right now. Regardless, bravo (or whatever the German word is) to Plattduetsche Park for bringing summer back All in all, an excellent outing. Good music, good food and good drink served up in a way where you don't have to be paranoid about bringing home a "surprise" from some stranger breathing on you. I thoroughly enjoy this place, but deff drink beer or wine when going here, they skimp out on the alcohol on mixed drinks. It's a fun place to go to see bands (bon-journey played when I went and they're amazing they sound just like the real band), especially when it's warmer outside and they have the big stage and the wide area. The food is really good, well at least the bar food is, I haven't gone there for a proper meal. They have amazing sausage and the pretzels are great and the combined sandwhich is awesome. Been a very long time since I was last here. The new Biergarten expansion is huge with multiple floors indoor outdoor seating. Got there just past 5 PM on s Saturday and the place was empty but a band was setting up. We were seated all fresco on 2nd deck. Started with 2 tall pints of German beer followed by the delicious and crunchy potato pancakes with apple sauce and lingonberry spreads, yummy. My main course brought me back to my travels of Germany, Champignon rahmachnitzel, an OMG perfectly fried veal cutlet topped with a deep flavorful white mushroom cream sauce. My sides could not be better and authentic, red cabbage and spatzle, I loved loved it. My Wife had the surprisingly good Bockwurst, a white pork & veal sausage served with a tangy hot sweet mustard, sauerkraut and German potato salad, another winner. Service was very good, nice breeze, then we partied while listening to the band 45 RPM. Truly a great night, can't wait to go back read more

I gave this place a low rating mainly because of the attitude of the staff, The atmosphere is nice, seems like a good crowd, they had a live band playing which was cool, but every bartender (with the exception of one guy who seemed nice black hair with beard didn't catch his name though) had an attitude like they hate their job. It was my first time going to this bar with some friends who frequent it, my friends were trying to defend its honor, but I was shocked at how rude the bartenders were, usually bartenders become your best friends at a bar, at least that's the service I've experienced at plenty of different bars large or small. So for that reason it gets a low rating, I actually left to find a bar with happier and friendlier bartenders. read more

To the management Please be so kind as to teach your servers to "serve from the right" and "clear from the left". Never hand a plate whether hot or cold directly to a seated customer across a table. Even the surest hand can sometimes slip. For what you are charging, the least you can do is place a meal properly in front of your customers. Anyone in the restaurant business should know this and train their staff accordingly. I would never frequent your establishment again for this reason alone. I have lived and worked in Munich, Bonn and Berlin. It would be nice if you could reflect a higher standard which I did not find lacking in those places. I would like to say that the young ladies you have working for you, have a better understanding of how to deal with the public and were very kind and professional. read more

I went here Wednesday at about 5:30pm. The service/food was good however the bartender made a lot of obnoxious comments which didn't sit well with me and my comrade. I was recommended this place by a friend of mine and now my opinion has changed. Very disappointing. We told the bartender quite a number of times that my pal couldn't drink because he came from the clinic and he kept insisting. I hope management will take note of this. read more

What a great place to enjoy a weekend! Family friendly amazing beers and unbelievable appetizers! Had the wurst sliders they are fantastic! Huge selection of German draft beer and an authentic German atmosphere to complete the experience. I have hosted two events here; one a high school reunion and other was a birthday party! The reunion was huge hit! At first I was skeptical since the venue was not a typical catering hall but the response from my guest was nothing but stellar. I know this place is a german staple but I have a few complaints. 1. The pitcher's handle broke off as soon as my friend picked it up, pouring beer all over us. Including my phone. The bar tender laughed, was slow to react and when I asked for rice said they had none. Its a restaurant. 2. I went to buy a pitcher of beer they only take cash. Its the 21st century. A beer garden in Long Island? Unheard of! From my experience, they're mostly in Queens. But I am so glad that I was able to experience the Plattduetsche! Thanks to Yelp I came here for an Elite Event. First of all, this space is HUGE. I mean you could fit a pretty large wedding here. From the main entrance you would have no idea there's all this space beyond the storefront. The venue is beautiful. It's made up of high ceilings and wooden beams. It stuck to a classic beer garden approach with a modern touch. The bar itself extends quite far and is easily accessible from all sides. Oh and of course there's plentyyyy of seating to go around. The inside area is just as beautiful as the outside section. Their German food is authentic and mouth-wateringly salty. Prepare yourself people to drink a gallon of water the next day. But it is most definitely worth it! All of their offerings at the Yelp event were scrumptious. The staff was also more than accommodating. I never refused so much food more in my life! I cannot wait to bring friends back here to experience it with the usual crowds. Beer and bites? What could be better? All we need is that music! read more

This is a very good German restaurant! The restaurant is huge and the bier Garten looks nice - will check it out in the future. Service was good! I really enjoyed the kaesespaetzle!! I also had the traditional wiener schnitzel and spaetzle with Jager sauce. My parents has the champignon rahnschnitzel which they enjoyed. We also had the little Bavarian which were little pretzel sliders with sliced brats, swiss cheese and bacon which was delicious! ! My boyfriend had the mad bavarian which was okay. I would focus more on the traditional german food. The apple strudel was excellent! We also tried the baron over the Alps which is vanilla ice cream with cinnamon vodka and oreo crumbs which was too strong to our liking and we didn't taste the cinnamon. Overall a great experience! Excellent food But there is no experienced waitresses in the dining room. It's almost funny that all the waitresses looked like they weren't old enough to drive. They all worked hard and tried very hard but need more experience. I believe the one management person was busy sitting at the bar , possibly just bull shiting with friends. When sitting in a decent restaurant you would expect someone to supervise the dinning room. I bring my family here every Friday and we've been coming here for years. The food is amazing & I always ask for Marina because she's our favorite if not the best waitress we've ever had. Always on top of everything, my drink is never empty (definitely a plus), and very friendly to the point where she's become a friend of the family. I came here for a beer tasting and also for dinner, so I'm well rounded with Platt. The beer tasting experience was amazing, so much beer to try, and the food was phenomenal. Dinner at their restaurant started off slow, when they gave us the pricey menu (at least $20) instead of the bar menu (more reasonable price for German food). The food was good, for an appetizer, we had the homemade goulash which was satisfying. I opted for the German platter to share which included bratwurst, knockwurst and potato pancakes. A member of the party thought the burger was ordinary, but the beer was far from it. Drinking authentic German Beers were the highlight of the night. I even wonder why they sell domestic beers here. Thier beer garden and beer hall were very nice! I came here for watching FIFA World Cup Final. There was Volkfest 2014 event on the same day. I was moved by how German American people are proud of their origin country. There are a bar area, two dininig areas in the building. In addition, huge beer garden and beautiful beer hall made of logs are back of the building. I have never seen such a big beer hall and garden in New York. Sausage platter was good. Great place to come and hangout for some German beer and German food. I enjoyed this restaurant for a birthday party with a group of about 25. We were seated above on the second story overlooking the bar and patio area. The staff was very attentive and kept bringing us tons of food. Food is great, but very heavy. Of course it is, it's German!!!! The pretzels and pretzel bun appetizer were good, by the time I ate them they were cold. I'm sure they're better than good. Potato pancakes and any of the wursts were the best by far. I was not much of a fan of the entree which was a schnitzel dish. Atmosphere is loud, very loud so expect that. An extremely large place. I went for a few times during the World Cup. Beer prices were towards city prices with a selection of 5-6 traditional German brews, including a house kolsch. Amazing night here, service was excellent, I had little bavarians and Mac and cheese bites. Only negative is parking can be difficult.

The Plattdeutsche, or "The Platt" as we used to call it, is a great place to go. In the spring and summer they have beer garden's and live music outside in the back. It is also a catering hall with plenty of party rooms downstairs, and there is a large bar in the upstairs corner. I'll discuss the latter in detail in this review. The bar is quite large, has a good amount of TVs scattered around the room that you can usually catch a few good games on at a time. The last time I was there was during the olympics, so we caught USA vs. Finland Ice Hockey. Great selection of German beer on tap. If you are a fan of Warsteiner or Leinenkugals most certainly grab a pint. The only qualm I do have is that there is sometimes only one or two guys behind the bar, so you might need to get their attention if you want a refill every now and then, but they are usually really good about it, and I'm not about to take a star away for just that fact. The prices are good, the crowd is not a bunch of crappy 20-somethings just looking to get trashed thurs-sat night like you find in most places in the area, which is definitely a huge plus. read more

I came here for a birthday event. I never venture out so far west. The building is huge! So apparently there is a catering hall, and where we were is a beer garden. In any case, it is huge. I can just imagine how gorgeous it must be in the summer. Their beer selection is big, it is a Beer Garden after all LOL I had a glass of wine LOL (don't kill me). But I did try the Krombucher and it was so good. I prefer dark beers with chocolaty after taste. This was not chocolaty but it was dark. For dinner I had teh Queen Bee burger. I got it medium well but should have went for a medium. It was a bit too well, but still delicious. Fries were perfect and you can tell they were cooked in oil that was not 300 years old. I would come back again with a smaller group so that I can try some other things on the menu and possibly have beer sampling (not sure if they have that or not). read more

I am so happy that I discovered the wonderful German food at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant. The portions of beef, chicken, veal and sausage are generous. An entrée comes with two sides of red cabbage, potatoes, vegetables or spaetzle. The tables at the main restaurant have table clothes. When you eat the food then you feel that you are in Germany. Went there on Sunday night with my two young children. I've been meaning to try this place. I couldn't believe how big it was! There was no children's menu so I ordered macaroni and cheese bites (an appetizer item) and chicken fingers and fries for my kids and I had a burger. All the food (especially the macaroni and cheese bites) was great and cooked well. We had so much food left over we brought it home and fed my husband after he got home from work and there was still some left! We sat up on the terrace and it was nice to listen to music. The service was a little slow but our waitress was super nice so it's ok:). We did notice quite a few flies around, but the terrace is connected to an open air porch-like seating so I'm not sure it can be helped. We will definitely be returning as my kids keep asking to go back! Oh, and the beer was good too! read more
