Not going back to this place again. We have been coming here for years and the quality/experience seems to get worse with each visit. First it started with bad food experiences. I've picked up take out that was so soggy and cold I couldn't eat it. Now issues are popping up with nightlife. This place is starting to feel sloppy and poorly run. Ordered a beer and the glass mug comes badly cracked all along the lip of the mug... We then get a pitcher and that's cracked at the bottom. When we told staff about both issues, nobody seemed to care. They said, "go throw it out." The final straw was when we were turned away from entering the bar because one of our friends is from PA. Plattduetsche got in trouble with the police a few weeks ago for serving underage kids alcohol and now won't allow anyone from out of state, regardless of age, to drink there? It ruined the night. As I said, sloppy, not well run anymore, and the issues we've had were not handled very well. Sorry, Plattduetsche, I won't be back after 4 years of patronage. read more

Wow this place is HUGE! We came here with a group of about 10 people for a birthday party on a Saturday night. We got there at about 5 and the place was dead. So we got 2 of the long tables and stayed and drank for a while. I was immediately impressed when I walked in. When I heard "beer hall" I was thinking of a grimy run down place that had been puked on way too many times but it was very clean and neat inside and beautifully designed. They had an extensive outdoor area which is probably packed in the summer. There's 2 large bars inside one in the front one in the back. This place is CASH ONLY! I wish we knew that before hand but they have ATMs inside which was super helpful. Also if you go with a large group like we did they don't split checks so get your venmo ready! We were hungry/drunk and we found this out the hard way. We ordered some food and to start we had the mac n cheese bites which were AMAZING I want them all the time now. We also ordered the pretzel sliders which were delicious also. Then Justin M. and I split a burger which was meh. Nothing too special but it did the job. I plan on going back here in the summer when they open the outdoor patio. The bar service was great everyone was very friendly and attentive however, the waitresses were subpar. Hallo, alle miteinander! (I looked up how to translate "hello everyone" into German). Welcome to Plattduetsche Park, which takes you out of the U.S. and off to Germany. My first time here I had had dinner with some friends, and after, we headed over to the beer garden. Yesterday, I went into the nether regions of Plattduetsche, which unbeknownst to me holds many catering rooms of various sizes. I was attending a surprise party for a coworker who had overcame an illness, and Plattduetsche really did an excellent job in making everyone feel welcome. The staff was fun and friendly at the start, and then kind and welcoming in providing the food and drink portions of the afternoon. Food was set up with a cocktail-esque hour to start with a plate of mini potato pancakes, meatballs, pigs in a blanket, and chicken pieces going around via server, as well as a table full of sliced meats, cheese-stuffed olives, grilled vegetables, mozzarella and tomato, cubes of cheese, sweet peppers, and a few other tasty items. Everything was delectable in flavor and nice presentation. For the main course, they set up four stations of a lasagna-type pasta dish, pasta with garlic and vegetables, carved meat, and sautéed seafood. I hit up 3/4 of these options with the pastas tasting fresh and well-mixed with their ingredients, and the cut of carved beef showing real mouthwatering and tender flavor. There was cake and little pastries for dessert, but I was stuffed at that point. One thing I don't want to forget to mention is probably the most important part of Plattduetsche: beer! They began by only having Bud and Bud Lite (I thought maybe I was in the Twilight Zone version of this place), but we quickly asked about more German type beers and they greeted us with plenty of pitchers (as well as some awesome glassware) of the good stuff. I had a bit of the dunkel (a darker and robust beer) which was awesome. Overall, this was a great celebration and I would come back for another party, for dinner, or just to hang out in the beer garden. Prost! read more

My husband and I love this place so much. We live 5 minutes away and it's an awesome place to chill together or with a group of friends. Beer is good, food is good. We decided to try their brunch and was soooooo disappointed! We got there at 11AM when it starts and sat outside where the bees harassed us the whole time, not their fault but it was annoying. Then we went to get the food and everything was cold! And not very good! My husband had to spit out a potato because he said it tasted like lighter fluid, he was sick the rest of the day. We didn't even go up for seconds. The $20 bloody mary had pretty much no vodka so don't get it! So the $80 brunch was a bust. :( read more

We discovered a cool new hangout. The beer garden there is great. The beer selection was good. The ambiance was pleasant. The music selection would please any crowd. We sat by the bar for a couple of hours watching games and drinking beer. Tried the beermosa. Loved it... Had the loaded pretzel, sliders and chicken fingers, recommend them all. The service provided by Danny and Shawn was exceptional. They also told us about future events. We dont live far, so we will be frequently visiting. The place is great for couples or crowds... Great German biergarten. Mostly German or American (German style) brews. Food is 3/5, wasn't blown away by the bratwurst and pancakes I had, but it hit the spot. Beer is good (if you like hefeweizens, etc.) The ambiance, enviornment is really what makes this place what it is. Planned a 10 year high school reunion weeks in advance -- Matt must have been drunk because although they had my credit they never heard of the event. With 70+ new Hyde Parker's on the way, they said they could "do us a favor" and the open bar went from $52 to $65+ tax and gratuity. Debbie was also no help. This place is beautiful on the inside. Unfortunately, the service just lacks in all ways possible. The service was disturbingly inattentive. There were approximately 3 or 4 waitresses standing around with only three tables with patrons at them and I had to stand before anyone asked if we needed anything. I ordered my burger medium well without any cheese on it. It came with cheese. Fair enough, something got messed up along the way. I told the bus boy who brought the food to the table that I ordered a burger with no cheese, no apology he just took it back. When the burger came back, it was well done - really well. The mac n cheese bites were delicious. Seating, maybe the service was so poor because they sat us very far from the other two tables that had people at them. I felt like I was being tucked away in the children's corner where we could not be seen or heard. After everything was done, the bus boy rushed in while we were trying to pay and sign the receipt to grab everything off the table - essentially preventing us from being able to sign the receipt and leave payment without him being in the way, leaving us feeling rushed and scooted out of the way after we waited for adequate service. It's unfortunate because this place has full potential, maybe with a little bit more consistency and hospitality. read more

Overpriced drinks and rude staff!! Security guard came up to my friends for dancing too close to the German dancers. One of the German dancers came up to us and threatened my friends for dancing near them and said let's take this outside. Disgusting behavior and not a fun time. Never coming back!! I had one of the strangest meals of my life today for lunch at Plattduetsche. My wife and I had never been there before, so I wasn't aware of the set-up. We saw there was a small, dinky front building and then a huge, sleek complex out back behind the parking lot. We asked a security guard where the restaurant was, and he pointed us to the newer building and said second floor. We were seated, and it was only when I looked at the menu that I noticed something was up; it was missing a lot of the items I'd seen online. Turns out the new building is a beer hall, and the restaurant is in the front building. So we headed to the "restaurant," which turned out to be a small, musty room with a few tables that looked straight out of the '70s. We were the only ones in there. The music was essentially a mix of upbeat German folk songs set to electronic beats, and it was very loud. We were already trying not to laugh at the absurdity, which only got worse when we were greeted by our waitress, Sophia, dressed in full Bavarian bar maid regalia (everyone else, women included, was wearing a regular shirt and tie). Sophia put a pitcher of water on the table, took our order, brought our food, and that was it. She did not refill our water when we ran out. She did not ask us how everything was. She did not notice that we were done eating. We sat there literally half an hour before she even came back into the room, and that was to accommodate a party that had just sat down. Sophia came in and out four times to help them, and completely ignored us. We ended up having to ask a busboy to pack up our leftovers and bring us the check. As for the food itself... very hit and miss. We had fried brie as an appetizer, which tasted good but was very runny with an unpleasant texture. My wife had the portobello schnitzel and creamed spinach, which she liked, but none of my main course was good. My schnitzel sandwich was the consistency and quality of a McDonald's filet-o-fish, the fries were way too salty, and I ordered a very unfortunate side of "authentic potato salad" that I can only describe as a pile of thick potato slices drowned in vinegar. All in all, while the beer hall looked like a cool place to hang out, watch a game, and have a few drinks, I wouldn't come back to eat. Certainly not to the "restaurant." read more

I've been attending Plattdeutsche festivals with my family and friends for over seven or eight years. It is sad to say that after Sunday's Bavarian Heritage festival, we will no longer be returning. The "Security" at this year's event was aggressive towards women and families and I witnessed some pretty ugly behavior on behalf of the Bouncers. I'll save the details for the letter I'll be writing to them directly! Other reasons include: denying patrons tap water (bartenders insisted on purchasing a small bottle of water for $2 - no refills), a bathroom attendant scrounging for tips (what is it- a fancy club in Manhattan? Totally unnecessary), extra cost ($6) for children to use the bounce castle, and a lackluster German food menu--so-so (but expensive) pretzel, bland applesauce, NO EEL, STURGEON, AND ROLLMOPS?!!!? All in all, I felt very much like this year was more of a money-grab then a celebration of Bavarian music, food, and heritage. The most un-Bavarian thing about this event?! Not allowing outside food or snacks! While I understand the need for the Platt to make a profit, I don't think allowing a few small snacks or sandwiches for patrons with special diets will affect their bottom line. Everyone attends this festival in anticipation of spending money! But this time around it felt like money was the driving force of the event. Sad, but we'll be taking our festivities elsewhere. read more

The food is decent, but not the best around. the events (Oompah fest in particular) are amazing. The crowd is always a great mix of all ages from families with young children, to teens, and beyond. They have traditional bands, shows, booths, etc... The inside bar is a lot of fun as well. It's a great place fora get together with friends. The grounds are larger than they seem. I've also attended formal events here and they did a superb job. Been going here for years and will continue to do so. read more

I was here for the first time last night. It was just a blast! I enjoyed every minute. Lots going on and definitely crowded but despite that, I only had pure fun. The band was incredibly good - I was worried about that lol, but Half Step was amazing.. food different, people were all friendly and the service was just right. This is a review of the beer garden, not the old-timey, weird restaurant in front of the beer garden. The beer selection was interesting, but the servers were inattentive, and security did a bag check as we entered and exited the premises. Why treat customers like criminals right off the bat? Definitely put a sour taste in my mouth. This space is gorgeous, but it's humongous. The staff couldn't handle the high capacity. We barely saw them and had to chase them down. The food was ehhhhh. Not really anything special. The pretzels were probably my favorite item, but again, they weren't that special. If you're looking for a well-balanced meal, don't come here. Everything was meat and fried cheese and carbs. Vegans- eat ahead of time! They offer one type of salad, and it is a dry and generic Caesar salad. So, I've been to this place a few times and each time it is fantastic. I was able to go yesterday which made my tastebuds very happy. The biergarten was not open, but the restaurant was. We sat at the bar watching the Mets game and started off with some beer. Hofbrau lager for me. I cannot get enough of that stuff. Any place that carries it automatically earns a return trip. We started with the Bavarian pretzel with awesome mustard and a cheese/bacon sauce. That was followed by the potato pancakes and apple sauce. The apps were so delicious that I needed at least a half hour before I could think about dinner. For dinner I had the Westfalen Schnitzel. Veal with ham and swiss. So yummy! It came with a wonderful spetzel and the best red cabbage I've ever had. Mom, I ate all my cabbage! We finished off dinner with a shot of apple schnapps. I cannot wait to go back. read more

I am adding a star for the extra fun event that was held. This place is huge. there are actually 2 buildings here. The one up front is the main hall with catering, the back is a huge biergarten with 2 bars on the 1st floor. There was also a German Folk band in liederhosen playing on stage, which was hysterical and fun to listen to. They have plenty of beers on tap, especially rare German ones. I am not a big beer drinker, Kulmbacher was a nice one and i enjoyed it. the glass it came in was huge and way more than i can actually drink without falling out of my chair. The food platters are very expensive, i am not big into german food, so i stuck to more americanish type fare. I really liked the potato pancakes and pretzels though. yummy yummy. The service was efficient, but the wait staff appear overworked. In general. it was a good time. The inside is nicer to look at though than the outside. read more

We have been to this restaurant for dinner and thought that the food was good standard German fare. However the Sunday brunch was not much better than a continental breakfast you might get at a hotel. The brunch is on the last Sunday of every month from 11am - 1pm in the beer hall upstairs. When we arrived we saw they had a few chaffing dishes of food as well as a person making omelette. If we were not meeting friends who were already on their way we would have left once we saw the food as we were going to our seats. They had very pedestrian items - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, crepes, french toast sticks that look like they were bought frozen as well as chicken corden blue and schnitzel. The food was barely hot and they just opened. I really thought there would have been more variety and just overall better food. There are so many better brunch places to go on Long Island that for $23 a person, not including coffee! I wouldn't waste my time or calories here read more

I had never known about this place until friends invited us out for some drinks. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly busy but not so much that it was bothersome. We got the Schofferhofer which was delicious and refreshing. The building the indoor seat is in looks amazing, I would love to have a party or gathering there. The outdoor area is adorned with trees and benched tables, nothing great but not bad. We weren't feeling very adventurous so we just got some chicken tenders and fries to munch on which were pretty good...but standard. I definitely plan on trying this bier garten again! read more

Pedestrian beer- Hofbrau & other German beers are certainly better than Krombacher which is their flagship...Service takes forever, angry security people that look like they are homeless & disheveled. We had an amazing time at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant! IMPORTANT NOTE: Bring cash!! They are cash only at the bar! We went on a Saturday night and they had a great band playing. We got to jam out to classic rock hits while enjoying our liter beer steins. I have always wanted to drink from a stein, and have never been able to find somewhere to actually serve me one!! It was a dream come true. And at only $13 it was well worth it! I was really interested in drinking their beers, so I didn't try anyone else's, but I drank their Oktoberfest and their Hefeweisen. Both were excellent! We also ordered their macaroni and cheese bites! The order came out quickly and they were delicious. We were a little bummed, as the night we were here it was pouring down rain, as they had a HUGE beer garden space with the traditional tables. Also, the restaurant itself had garage doors that looked like they would open when the weather was nice. Too bad we were just visiting, if I was a local, I would live here during the summer! It also amazed me with the sheer size of their building. They have a HUGE parking lot, HUGE beer garden, then two separate buildings. Such a cool place! Cant believe I waited so long to go there. Went there on Saturday and it was really fun! They have a huge indoor/outdoor beer garden with maybe 100+ tables. The beer selection, although limited, was good. A beer will run you about 7/8 dollars. The food was great as well - we ate in the restaurant part and in the beer garden part. The pretzel outside was just meh, but the chicken fingers/fries were good and hot. The restaurant food was delicious as well. For an app we got the pretezel sliders and mac and cheese nugget things. Wow!! So good and so fresh. Everyone really seemed to enjoy what they got for an entree as well. Would definitely come back :) read more

This place is great! It's so huge! Always a place to sit whether it outside or inside. Great authentic German fare and beers! A little pricey on the beers but everything else about this place trumps that. There really is no bad things I can think of about this place. There's something going on here every night like last week there was a bacon festival! The workers here are lots of fun too. Good people, bartenders and everyone else who works here. Love this place. Always a place to sit on a beautiful Friday or Saturday night in the summer with friends and family. The outside is excellent but the picnic tables are first come first served, which is fine because I like to sit toward the back so the outdoor band isn't blasting in my ear. The service outside could be a bit better, or they can hire more waiters/waitresses, it feels like they take forever to take an order. The food is excellent, from a pub food perspective. The burgers are great, the bratwurst, dogs and potato pancakes are delicious. I've only eaten in the actual German restaurant once and was not overly impressed. I highly recommend the pretzel bun sliders for appetizer, they are so good you'll end up eating 3 orders and not eating your meal. Its also great for kids, when you're outside. The kids love to roam around with their friends and its kind of closed off so you aren't too worried that they will wander off into the street. I always recommend this place if you're looking for a great beer and great pub food. read more

In addition to Plattduetsche being a restaurant there is also a beer garden in the back. My review will be for the latter. Apparently this beer garden has existed for quite sometime, and I've must've driven by this place over a hundred times and never noticed it. From Hempstead Turnpike, it appears as a restaurant in a church-like building, but in the back, there is a very large beer garden. One of my friends was having an engagement party here so I was pretty excited to check out this place. German beer + wursts = good times!! Parking is a little difficult in this neighborhood as a lot of the side streets do not allow you to park until midnight. Renken Boulevard, just before Plattdeutsche has available parking on the west side of the street. You may notice a small driveway that leads to a parking lot, just past the beer garden and before the soccer field, but avoid parking here as the gates were closed when we left around 11:30pm. I believe the driveway is a back entrance to one of the parking lots for the German retirement home, right next to Plattdeutsche. We finally walked into the beer garden and the place was humungous, with rows among rows of picnic tables. At the first section of picnic tables (about 20-30 rows), there was a live band playing classic rock music on a stage. Just across from it, is a building that has an indoor square-shaped full bar with about 20 tables surrounding it. Walk a little further down, and there is a shack that serves the food, ranging from bratwursts ($5), frankfurters ($3), cheeseburgers ($5), buffalo wings ($7), french fries ($3), bavarian pretzels ($3), german potato salad ($2), landjaeger on rye bread ($4), grilled chicken caesar salad ($7), leberkase on rye bread ($5), chicken fingers ($5), and ice cream ($3). Just beyond the shack was a tent with another 20-30 rows of picnic tables, but the area was closed off as it was not too crowded. For the engagement party, we received bracelets ($40/each) that allowed us all you can eat and drink (all hard alcohol and beer included). Most of the beer was served in large 1/2 liter mugs ($6.50), but I saw some people drinking from humongous 1 liter mugs. There were 2-3 bartenders serving drinks at the bar, which was a bit slow, so we wound up ordering a couple mugs at a time. All the food was delish!! The bratwursts with sauerkraut on a bun were YUM! The french fries were perfectly crisp, the chicken tenders were moist and juicy, buffalo wings were tender and not dry at all (container of hot sauce and Ken's Blue dressing served on the side). I wish I had tried all of their dishes because everything I tried was delicious, leaving me with a great big smile on my face. Even without the bracelet, the beers are decently cheap as well as the food. If I had known about this place earlier, I would definitely choose coming here than the overcrowded beergardens in Queens. One thing saddened me. I was informed by my friend that the beergarden is only open on Fridays after 6pm from June through September. Plattdeutsche used to have it open on Friday's and Saturday's but found that it broke up the crowds so have decided to open Fridays only. There's only one weeek left in September, so I'm going to have to wait until next year, but I think I will find myself frequenting this place quite often. My friend also told me the restaurant is very good too so I will have to come back and check that out also. Last night I was craving German food, so when my father asked if I wanted to go out and get something to eat, I jumped at the opportunity to check this place out! I was disapponted to find out they're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so I haven't actually tried this place out!! I just wanted to let people know, DON'T COME ON MONDAYS OR TUESDAYS!!! 1. Kind of difficult to find. Thankfully we were meeting friends who were already there so we knew to walk behind the catering hall in front and go through a side entrance by the parking lot. 2. Food was 'meh' at best. The spaetzle was bland, the schnitzel a little overcooked, but the pickled onions were pretty good. The burger was messy and the mini sliders, while good, still left something to be desired. 3. Beer selection is decent, however it would be really nice if they didn't rush patrons out at last call. Doesn't make for a nice experience when you're mid convo, mid sip, and they start screaming at you to leave in 10 minutes and then 8 minutes later you're all but punted out the door.
