The cake I was charged $200 for
    Janale F.

After Covid, everyone seems to think they have new found skills that they don't have. I was scammed by this chick Rocio. She got the date of the event wrong, got the Jersey request (Poole) wrong and forgot to put Happy Birthday Elijah on the cake. I'm a single Mom and I wanted this cake to be special for my son. I paid $285.00, drove from San Jose to Oakland thinking this woman had skills. I should have known something was up the way she quickly placed the cake in the back seat of my car and left in a hurry.

At the last minute, I decided to try and order a small "wedding cake" for my second wedding anniversary. Rocio was so great to work with, from concept/ design, to flavors/ options, to pick up/delivery. The cake exceeded my expectations aesthetically and was absolutely delicious! I'm eating a piece for breakfast as I write this review. Can't recommend her enough!

Gorgeous custom made cookies for my moms 60th birthday!

For my mom's 60th birthday Rocio made us custom cookies. These cookies were amazing!!! Not only were they beautifully done, they also tasted super yummy. Thanks Rocio!!!

Ghetto Bakery Pinterest fail shop. See the details for what I ordered vs. what I got. This ultimate fail cost me $285.00 and she offered a $20.00 refund because she felt bad. When I told her what I thought was a reasonable refund ($60.00) she ghosted me. Cake tasted like trash too. She put whole blueberries with a lemon flavor frosting

Rocio and her crew made my kids birthday the most cutest tastest cake! Her cake was moist and exactly what my kids wanted! She also made them cupcakes and lego cookies for each kid at the party! All the parents at the party kept asking who made my cake and cookies they are so yummy. I would reccomend plate me a cake and will be using her for all the birthdays!

Rocio is amazing!!! We had a last minute cake emergency (less than 24 hr notice). I called Rocio and explained our tight schedule and our design for the cake, she was easy to work with and very accommodating. We didn't think we would be able to find someone to make a cake with our time frame but she immediately said she could do it, and nailed the design!

    Cookies and cheesecake

I met Rocio at a wedding fair, at first interaction, I knew she genuinely cared about her products! I hired Plate Me a Cake for my engagement party, and let's just say, every single item that I ordered was a hit with my guests! Especially her cheesecake! Not only are her desserts decorated beautifully, they also taste GREAT! I am looking forward to working with Plate Me a Cake for my future events!

Rocio & her team were amazing. First off, they answer their phone. Second off, I called on very short notice and they were so accommodating. Third, easy to work with, gave great suggestions & options. Fourth, although the delivery person got lost they called immediately & followed directions well. Fifth, the cake itself was delicious & fresh. We ordered strawberry shortcake & everybody loved it! The price was reasonable & I have zero complaints!

Rocio did the desert table for my son birthday party. I got so many compliments of how tasty and beautiful it looked. She was did sports theme. She even created a baseball glove made out of chocolate with cake pop ball inside. She is very professional and very easy to communicate. She understand what you want and give suggestion on how to make it better.

    Cookies

I've ordered twice from plate me a cake and haven't been disappointed. Her attention to detail in my orders were amazing. She nailed every single detail I asked her for. She's always very responsive and easy to work with. I highly recommended her for any desert need you may have. Prices are a bit high but her work is worth it. They don't just look pretty they are delicious as well.

Rocio did such an amazing job with my wedding cupcakes and cutting cake! She was great at being in touch and responding to all my emails, and she even got back to me while she was on vacation! She was really helpful in figuring how many cupcakes to order and had no problem with making all seven different flavor combinations we wanted. Our "naked cake" cutting cake was beautiful, and she even added some flowers and greenery to make it even more special. She showed up on time and made a beautiful display, I got so many compliments on how delicious the cupcakes were! I would definitely recommend Rocio and Plate Me A Cake for any dessert needs and would definitely use her again! Thanks, Rocio!!!

Why the HELL have I never been here?!…read more for starters, I have a really bad gluten sensitivity, and finding a place like this feels like an oasis. Immediately after coming in, you are greeted with a shelf of delicious gluten free goods, a freezer full of REAL gluten free bread. Not the doodoocaca stuff you can buy at the regular store. I'm talking baguettes and sh*t. But then that's not all. They have an entire menu that you can dive into and munch on if you are just looking for a quick bite. What the f*ck Mariposa, hell yeah!

Let me begin by saying that I think this place has the best key lime pie I've ever tasted, and I…read morecan eat gluten. I also like that this location has longer business hours than most GF bakeries and serves breakfast all day as well as lunch items. Another big plus is the allergens are clearly labeled online and in the shop. However, I've had negative experiences here on 3 consecutive visits. I go here for my gluten free partner. On one of the visits, I ordered a stuffed bagel and waited for 15 minutes before going back up to the counter to say that I still hadn't received my order. It was busy, but by this time, the person standing at the counter had nothing to do. They apologized and made my order then, but the experience left a bad impression on me since it was my first time eating inside the bakery. On my next visit, I ordered several items inside the bakery to take home with my pickup order and received a pain de chocolate instead of a cinnamon donut, which I didn't notice until I got home. The pain de chocolate costs more and my partner wasn't able to share it with me due to a soy allergy. I suppose I could've been paying more attention, but these items don't have similar names at all, so I was not expecting this error. That said, I made a mental note to pay more attention when ordering inside the bake shop for future orders. On my next visit, I ordered a mocha cupcake and berry muffin, but the cashier rang me up for a hand pie instead of a muffin. Again, the hand pie was more expensive. This time I caught it and asked for it to be corrected. I work in customer service and I act with kindness when mistakes are made because we're only human. However, I believe 3 negative experiences in a row shows a pattern and warrants some attention. I will continue to patronize this business due to the reasons I mentioned at the beginning of this review, but I will now have to be vigilant in ensuring that I receive the correct items and am charged the correct amount. This of course is not ideal. I hope service improves.

They're in a location that used to be a Subway. I've only have their cookies, I'm a sucker for good cookies. I particularly recommend their Peanut Butter Miso (a flavor I don't think you can get at a lot of places, sweet savory), and Ginger Molasses. I've also been supporting them because they're part of the Rewards Network Dining. I subscribe to the program to get Alaska/Atmos points on qualified dining, and I'm trying to get as many points as I can, so dining with restaurants as part of that program is helpful. You can order full cakes as well as they have slices avaialble for purchase. I got a tiramisu slice for my mom, which she said she liked. Good addiiton to the neighorhood.

Their primary focus appears to be on their special order cakes-which look amazing. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. After asking a few questions, I decided on the Passion Coco cake($5) and the Brown Sugar Pecan scone ($3.50). I enjoyed the Passion Coco cake slice. The coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry flavors worked well together, although the passion fruit flavor was very subtle. The sponge was cake moist, and the butter cream was spot on with its melt-in-your-mouth creamy texture. The Brown Sugar Pecan scone was good, but it had more of a dense muffin texture than a traditional scone, and the flavors were a bit muted. They did not skimp on the pecans though, which was nice. I would have enjoyed bolder flavors and a more traditional scone texture. Overall, I found that the walk in options are limited, but a great spot for locals to stop in and pick up tasty baked goods-and I would definitely order one of their beautiful and delicious looking cakes for a special occasion.

Food looked delicious, I got myself a blueberry strudel cheesecake!…read more Service put me at ease when he told me about the options of historic cheesecake. When you go inside all the cheesecake and cookies, Peach cobbler just makes you feel so at home and feel good. Place was operating well, seem like a great business. I've heard many things about Gregory's Gourmet Desserts but tried it today for the first time…read more Parking was a challenge, with the location being nestled within downtown, closer to Lake Merritt. I was surprised that no one spoke of business specifics in their reviews. There is a limit to how many can come in; and you are not allowed to touch anything when inside. There are also no prices listed anywhere. We thought this was odd. Our order: * Personal Peach Cobbler * Walnut Brownie * Banana Pudding For these 3 items, our total was over $25. The service was friendly but a bit awkward. You are only able to see cases of dessert options, it is more of a pick-up point, not so much a bakery location you can browse. I wouldn't suggest coming as a large group, there is no where to sit to enjoy your baked goods and parking is very difficult. While the cobbler and banana pudding were good, I wasn't a fan of the brownie. My partner enjoyed the cobbler a lot, but when we did the calculations, the prices were astronomical. I'm not sure what gourmet difference the items contained, but we likely would not come back to this bakery considering prices and parking. The location is cute, in theory, but with no actual location or displays, or price lists- what you pay for doesn't balance out. The lack of transparency for prices was very sus to us. I'm sure the business will continue on especially with how much they charged. I can't imagine the bakery location and building rent costing a lot as far as operating costs; as it is small, and not expansive at all. The price of the baked goods doesn't even go towards branded packaging. Which could be understandable. The only beverages available that I seen was Nesquik. Steep prices with no justification - especially when you have other bakeries in the area, in addition to Nation's for Pies, very affordable and classic as well. E&J's has a great banana pudding and cobbler as well for $6- they are also a Black-owned business and family operated. Absolutely no bad intent, just wanting to share transparency in my review so Yelpers know that prices are not listed, which means they are subject to fluctuation- in this economy that is not a fair way of doing business. One star per item we liked, for this review. As much signage is visible upon entry regarding rules and limited persons for entry at a time- not one area provided prices; only signs that tell you not to touch. It's required by law for prices at every establishment to be listed, according to SB 478 for general consumer goods and services in California.
