The dessert table at our wedding held deeply personal significance, and we're grateful to Brittany at Goddess Noir for helping us bring that to life. Our dessert table wasn't just about having yummy treats at our wedding--it held deep personal significance. We had lost both of the bride's parents and another important mother figure before our big day, and we wanted to honor their memory alongside the groom's parents who were there to celebrate with us. We chose specific desserts that represented each parent, as a way of keeping their presence felt through the idea of food, the most timeless way parents show their love. In addition to having some delicious desserts on her standard menu that suited some parents, Brittany worked with us to make a strawberry shortcake (not something she normally serves) in honor of the bride's father. We ended up bringing in two of the desserts from other vendors, and she plated those beautifully as well. Admittedly, there were a couple communication challenges during the course of working together which caused a bit of a scramble in the week leading up to our wedding to ensure that Brittany could properly plate the outside desserts. However, in the end she really brought our vision to life, and we heard from many of our guests both how beautiful our dessert table was and how delicious the desserts were.

Goddess Noir Cakes are very delicious! I have ordered the mini cakes, cheesecake, chocolate cakes, carrot cakes and oatmeal cookies! My dessert's were freshly baked and not overly sweet! I ordered the mini cakes for two different functions! A Holiday Party and an Engagement Party! My guest was asking for business cards! I definitely recommend Goddess Noir Cakes to use for small or large events! I give Goddess Noir Cakes a 10 Stars!

I ordered the Egg puff with mango, strawberries and ice cream so yummy and the egg waffle was light and crispy. It reminded of a HK cafe called Eggettes in SF back in the day when I was in college. Could it be due to the City of Oakland charging for parking on Sundays? The menu is like picture book of their tempting desserts. I ordered something simple, the E02- mixed fruit, chia w/ ice cream, and coconut sauce. Only one person was working behind the counter, so it took them 5-8 mins to serve my order. But my order was worth the wait, because it was fresh, cold and refreshing. Why 4-stars? The interior seems old and outdated. There were only 4-5 booths along the wall. The old Yelp photos show small tables down the center of the dining room. Those were probably removed due to social distancing. The largest table is a booth that seats up to six. It seems like this place should have a bar at the counter. Street parking.....meters are active on Sunday. Parking garage available

Welp, it's been a long hot minute since I last came here (a little over four and a half years, to…read morebe exact), and U: Dessert Story still wows me. I've always been a fan of bingsu, and the fact that they offer Thai-fusion versions sealed my devotion. I'd always thought the mango sticky rice was their best bingsu, but boy, was I wrong. I'm so glad I tried the boba Thai tea version because, lawd, it was SO good I couldn't stop eating it. The flaky milk ice was rich with Thai tea flavor and paired perfectly with the whipped puff cream on top. The condensed milk added just the right sweetness, while the boba and grass jelly brought a fun, chewy contrast to all that soft creaminess. I simply couldn't get enough. The salted yolk bread dessert was also delicious; you can't go wrong with sweet and salty. The pandan fondue, on the other hand, didn't do it for me. Maybe I was expecting a different flavor profile, but I found it a bit bland, and the soft bread cubes would've been better lightly toasted. Service was great as usual, and the ambience was casual and relaxing.

Another plus is that they're open until 10pm Monday + Tuesday and 12am the rest of the week, perfect for late night munchies! Parking can be a bit tedious, I recommend trying to find a spot in the neighborhood to avoid the meters. It might be a small walk to and from, but gives you time to digest after indulging on dessert.

And yes, the cheesecake is great - probably the best rendition of basque cheesecake I've had. I love that it's not too cream-cheese-y in flavor, and the texture is smooth and creamy. If you haven't tried them yet, go before it's too late! I've been lucky enough to try four of their flavors, and each one showcases their signature silky texture and deep flavor. All are not too sweet! My personal favorite is the Kyoto Matcha - the matcha is high-quality, with a vivid green color and rich flavor that balances beautifully with the creamy cheesecake base. The Original is a classic for a reason with deeply caramelized top and creamy interior. I also tried the Iribancha, a roasted green tea flavor. It's intense, smoky, and unique..maybe not one I could finish in one sitting, but definitely memorable and recommend for those who want that earthy/smoky taste. The truffle was also a standout, adding just enough umami to round out the sweetness. Preorders drop via Instagram (@basukucheesecakes) and sell out lightning-fast. Otherwise, plan to line up for slices! Wishing Basuku all the best on their next chapter. Fingers crossed for a return to the Bay someday! Until then, don't miss your chance to try what might be the best cheesecake you've ever had.

They own an apartment in Paris and I didn't want to offend them with my usual guerrilla tactics. I'm known to fight dirty and conspire with others during this game and everybody hates me because of it, and I didn't want to be banned from their apartment, as Paris in the fall is lovely. Thus my journey with Walter began. One thing about me, is I respect a place that knows flavors. I don't want basic vanilla, give me some weird and strange and flavorful that will tantalize my palette and ignite my senses. Give me salty and sweet. Give me TANG. Give me these things and DONT give me gas. Bad Walters cracked the code. All flavor, real dairy, no lactose, no gas. Each week they have a different batch of flavors, so there's always something new to explore. There's like 6 flavors to choose from at once and they let me try them all before I selected my choice hehe. I tried to sample 6 flavors at Cold Stone and they took me out back and shot me, but here, nobody was mean to me. Mr. Potatohead is the flavor I landed on--brown sugar custard with peanut butter swirl and chocolate covered potato chips. The chunks of chocolate covered potato chips were lodged in the ice cream and I felt like an archaeologist excavating ancient rocks as my spoon lifted the potato chocolate chunks out of the creamy custard into my mouth. I bought a pint. The Mick Jagger was another joy, with its salty caramel and Oreo chunks. They're lucky Peaches Christ was sold out because I might've lost my mind for a peach cobbler ice cream! They wouldve had to drag me out by the back of my neck like a rabid dog! Maybe next time. All in all, tasty ice cream. Would recommend.
