We used Silver Dahlia because she came highly recommended for a local baker who was known for quick turnarounds and great flavors. We were excited to have her make our gender reveal cupcakes but honestly were a little disappointed. We had given her a week's notice that our gender result would be coming, and then she kind of didn't want to talk until it was received. Once received came all the questions - what flavors (I said vanilla was fine), how many (4, it was just for my husband son and I). I had sent over the week before inspiration of clean, white cupcakes with kind of "baby-y" sprinkles. What we received was what felt like a hodge podge of what was on hand. Granted, she had a quick 36 hour turn around from receiving the gender, but the cupcakes came as 4 different flavors, all kind of mismatched decoratively. We're not even big sweets people but we felt so guilty about all the flavors when vanilla was fine. Definitely not what had been discussed. Not to mention when my husband unwrapped his wrapper there was pink frosting visible that almost ruined our gender reveal video. We had planned to cut one open and use it with a sonogram for the photo but none seemed "aesthetic". I guess just be superrr clear on your needs and expectations! read more

Her suggestion to have a small cake for the birthday boy and cupcakes for all the guests was wonderful. It eliminated the need to cut the cake and plate the slices for 40 guests.
