there's something about a road trip that makes me crave things like milk shakes, fries, onion rings and burgers but being a vegetarian (that makes exceptions for bacon) means i often have few options when it comes to hole in the wall places. not so with pkls! i came in thinking their burgers were all beef and i was primed to just get onion rings or fries and a milkshake but i did a complete u turn when i realized there were beef, black bean, chicken and impossible burger options! i opted for a nathan's single to go and took it two blocks away where i ate next to the beach. [although i'm writing this review for a burger place i'll just say that snickett park is a great place to enjoy your take out of the weather is right.] this is definitely a take out place but the group of guys before me got handed their burgers and literally started chowing down before they had walked away so not sure if they were inanely hungry or overly excited about the food they'd ordered. there was a steady stream of what looked like locals coming in and placing orders right before noon so i'm going to assume this is a place that is on the radar of people in town when they get a certain hankering. for me, it served the purpose and it was tasty. i was back on the road after some time down at the water but if you're going to be in the vicinity of sechelt or passing through and need some all american menu items, they can help you out. one star off for the handwritten menu that's difficult to read and make sense of in places...i think that could be improved upon. read more

Really delicious burgers. I mean the actual meat is juicy and rich in flavour. Of course, you do you, and customize your burger exactly how you want it, as to toppings, but if the meat isn't good, all the toppings in the world won't save a bad burger. I predict I could eat these burgers naked and they would still be delicious. Milkshakes here are both a drink and a dessert. We had the Black Forest and the Creamsicle. Both quite good but the Black Forest was a little sweet for my taste. The girls behind the counter got the job done professionally considering they looked like they were both working their first jobs and it is a take out joint, just before closing. We ordered garlic and Cajun fries. You would think that would be lots of flavor but it was not terribly flavorful. The burger would be nice if not process white bun as that being cheap instead use a Keizer bun there big and keep everything from falling out and keep the juices in and flavour stops the burger from going greasy . Service can be rude at time and brush up on your how do's instead of what do you want. Ambience is very small can't really sit much inside and no washrooms for the customer. read more

Under new ownership/management. Ok, giving this place another go. Had the double burger and garlic fries. Burgher was just what I wanted, beautifully cooked patty that filled my bun. I go pretty plain on toppings: cheese, lettuce, tomato and PKL sauce. The garlic fries were a decent (bigger than before) potion and were nice and crispy. I bought the meal home, about 20 min drive, so I popped everything in the oven for 8 minutes and it was great. read more

Super, super nice people, and amazing food to boot. Fantastic selection of toppings on the burgers (grilled onions and grilled mushrooms, in particular). The fries are somewhat unique in that they're fluffy, not super crispy, but not too heavy and oily. (Also, really nicely seasoned. The garlic fries, in particular.) The milkshakes are wonderful. Great flavour, not too heavy, great for sipping. Also, the portion sizes (and prices) are really perfect. Not so big that you can't finish, but so small as to leave you still hungry. read more

We've been here a couple of times now and it hasn't disappointed! Their burgers are delicious and they have an easy menu as well. You can choose whatever toppings you want on your burger. Must get the milkshakes as well. Great addition to downtown Sechelt! read more

We were just on vacation and this was one of the spots I looked up and had to try. Well I am so happy we did the food was amazing. The burgers were so Good and fries were nice and crispy. Holy hell y'all. These burgers and the lovely couple that make them are not messing around. My man and I popped in after he saw a picture of a burger online..and found out it was a veggie burger that looked so good. This is one of the happiest accidents to occur on our getaway. He had the TRIPLE meat burger and would not shut up about it. I had the Beyond Meat burger and would not shut up about it. SO GOOD. You might think that the garlic fries would be excessive but you'd be wrong. GET THEM! TREAT YO'SELF! OINK! The seating area is LIMITED so it seems like most locals take orders to go. We lucked out and were able to grab a seat. There didn't appear to be a bathroom...but we didn't ask. But the food is so good, who cares about a bathroom. Get the Beyond Meat burger in your mouth and pee on your own time. read more

Not bad but as a private Chef myself i would not squeeze a patty that i hand made down to the size of Wendy's patty. Their nice and thick if you go for a burger you want to always bite into a nice thick patty right. Ask for your next burger to be pushed down to an inch thick and let it cook. Also the BURGER always falls apart on you i recommend getting not white processed buns but big kieser buns so they soak up some of the moisture and even if you get a mushroom burger and ask for steamed instead of deep fried if you care about your health or your a vegetarian too. Its just a hot mess. The white buns when you take a bite the whole burger falls apart. Even avocado on the mushroom burger would be nice. The fries are great mostly the garlic fries, and the shakes are good too but when you have apple pie in it or any pie it Should have some pie crust in it to make a great shake and big straws like they have at 711 for slushies read more

Beyond my expectations! Mind blowing taste with amazing view along the beachside. The bun is soft and stuffed with juice from the meat patties. I would highly recommend this place as their garlic fries are to die for their beef burgers are pretty spot on (a little over done for my liking but still juicy and full of flavour) Even their chicken burger was amazing! I went here last night with my son. We ordered 3 cheeseburgers one fries and one chocolate milkshake.The girl at the windows then asked if we wanted cheese? I said yes please. She then said "and a vanilla milkshake ". I said no a chocolate milkshake.She then asked if we wanted fries!!. Great burgers in Sechelt. Looks kind of pricey until you realize that there are about fifteen toppings that you can add for free, and another half dozen that are 50 or 75 cents. Can easily create a massive, grotesque, and delicious burger. Entertaining and very likeable staff. Under new ownership since my last trip to Sechelt, and the owner is super friendly, and if anything the food has improved (and it was good to begin with). The young guy manning the grill was funny and cool, and cooked a fine burger. Was also playing good music, though he annoyed his boss by blasting Rage Against The Machine "Killing In The Name" ("fuck you I won't do what you tell me") while my burgers were cooking. I enjoyed the song though, and was happily reminded of doing blades in high school. So maybe not the place to take Gramma, but basically everything else in Sechelt is made for Gramma, so let the rest of us have this. Really nothing at all to complain about. If this place was on Commercial, I suspect it would do really well for years. A gem. (Following bit of review for extreme burger connoisseurs only: these are old school burgers, with hand formed patties made of nice beef, all the toppings you can imagine, and small weak buns that are very secondary to the burgers. You know the type. Bring napkins, and don't be a purist: take advantage of the many toppings and add ons). Guaranteed place I eat every time I'm in Sechelt. read more

My husband and I drove by late one evening and it was closed so we decided to drive back from Madeira Park the next day to try. When we got there, a nice lady was working and said they didn't open for almost an hour. When we casually mentioned that we drove 45 mins for a burger (at 10am lol) she offered to make us one anyways which was awesome. We got 2 burgers and a milkshake. The burgers were absolutely delicious! They were super moist and juicy, toppings were fresh and so much to choose from, and the buns were perfectly soft. We are big fans of 5 guys burgers and these were way better. Milkshake was awesome as well! If you live in sechelt or are just passing through you definitely need to stop here. Food was absolutely to die for and service was above and beyond. Thanks PKLS we'll be back tomorrow I'm sure for more burgers! read more
