Overpriced, stuffy, unfriendly, mediocre food, limited selection, beautiful view!

I'm a Point native home for the holidays. Met up with some friends at PJ's the other night based upon a good review from someone. The decor is very cute and a huge improvement over Sports Plate, which used to be in this location. The menu also looked great. We had the cheese tray as an appetizer which was nice, I've also heard good things about the pizzas. Unfortunately, the service was awful. Our food took a quite a while to come out, and in the mean time we were never asked about more drinks and the dirty dishes from our appetizer sat on the table even after the entrees arrived. When they finally did arrive, it was clear it had been sitting under a heating lamp for a while. I ordered the salmon (medium rare) and it was very hard. Also, it came with a cucumber fennel salad, and the salmon was placed on top of that. After sitting under the heat lamp for so long the fennel cucumber salad was warm and slimy, very unappetizing! My friend ordered a steak, rare, but when it arrived I would have described it as well done. The server asked her to check whether it was to her liking, but after waiting for so long to get the food, we were hungry and reticent to send anything back. I'm normally not a big review writer, but having dropped $30 on drinks and an entree I couldn't believe how much I spent for such a poor experience. In a town like Stevens Point, I could get a lot more (and better experience) elsewhere. This place is very cute and has an ambitious menu. It's clear a lot of money was poured into the concept, it's here to stay. But please (!!!) work on service and presentation. read more

This is my favorite golf course and restaurants. Excellent service. The cheese curds are the best in the Midwest! Awesome service. If you are there, be sure to have Jozef Wojo take care of you at the bar. They have a great beers on tap. Excellent wines. Pizza is always great read more

Since their recent opening we've had lunch here three times and have had a chance to try quite a few of their menu items. Everything we've tried has been excellent. I especially enjoy their venison chili which is superb. The pizzas are great coming out fast and hot from their new pizza oven. Definitely a place to check out for the great atmosphere and food!! read more

PJ's is the new Sportplate. I loved going to Sportplate for their great Friday fish fry. PJ's is a modern rustic setting with local food choices on the menu. They do still have a fish fry, but it is not the same as before. PJ's is very spacious and open. They have a great outdoor patio area with fire pits and seating. They do not serve food outside unfortunately. My husband and I both enjoyed the setting and the food. read more

I have been here twice. One was for the outdoor music they have on Wednesday nights in the summer. Another time I ate with a friend inside. The music nights, if you want a seat outside at a table, I suggest you get there early. The food and service is very good. A heads up, the prices are higher for the area but the quality is worth it. As for inside it is very nice and roomy. The only issue I have inside here is it is not for the hard of hearing folks. I could not hear my friend directly across from me because of the echo that is inside. I avoid it on rainy days for that reason. If I can sit outside I'm fine. read more

Really fricken bad yo, this place has slow af service. The food is ok but came kinda cold. It made me sad, I am depressed, I had to wait like 1 million hours for my food and it was fricken cold?!?!? Do you think I'm ok with that??!?!?? NO I'm not. Square read more

PJ's - SentryWorld - Horrible - Pizza Near Me - Stevens Point, Wisconsin

See all

Not customer friendly. They would not let me substitute veggies for my 1 yr old daughter's fries nor could I even order veggies on the side. The menu is very limited and does not accurately reflect the food. The pan seared fish is beer battered and deep fried. Talk about false advertising. You are not allowed to eat anything the bar on weekends. Not even appetizers. The Sports Plate was worlds different. New look but they regressed in quality. read more

Great atmosphere, food and service. First time here and I can't wait to come back. The grounds and clubhouse are impressive. I can't believe this was in Stevens point. We had the burrata, salad and fish tacos! All delicious. read more

We really want to like this place. Our first experience we went mid week over the lunch hour. We got the cheese curds (great) and chicken salad sandwich and the hubby got pizza. We walked away very happy. Came back again during the week but at dinner. We were seated quickly but we Waited 15 minutes to even even be acknowledged by our waitress. She finally came and took our drink order (tap beer and sweetened tea) waited another 15 minutes for our drinks then both drinks were incorrect. After flagging out waitstaff down about our drinks and to order she didn't apologize or anything.. Just not good. Food was very average. Menu needs a revamp after just twice nothing sparks our interest to come back. read more

Blue cheese burger was good. Fries a little greasy & overcooked. Decor and outside seating area were outstanding! Prices were reasonable. I'll be going back to try the pizza. read more

Go for the great prices and quality atmosphere. The food is local and fresh and very good.

First dinner outing in Stevens Point did not dissapoint. Huge open restaurant with many seating options for casual drinks and conversation to a full on family dinner. Big fire rings outside were lit if you felt like braving the cold. Great beer selection on tap, almost exclusively WI beers. The menu looked very appetizing. I had an order of fried cheese curds which were excellent (from a Texans perspective). Roasted veggie salad was refreshing to go with the mac and cheese nihhtly special. Wait staff at the bar were friendly as every Wisconsonian that ive ever met. Will be returning before the trip is over. read more

PJ's was so noisy our party of seven could not hear one another. The chicken, as an entree, and in a salad, was dry. I bragged it up to my out-of-town family but it did not measure up. I won't be returning any time soon. read more

Called twice (the first two weeks ahead) for reservations They do not take reservations, but said there would be not problem seating our group of 10. What a load of bull. Found out later they have a room for 8 or more that can be reserved. Went in Saturday 12/12/15 for our promised expeditious service and were told there was a 1/1/2 hour wait. Major problem, solved, we went to Micheles and left them the $500+ we would have spent............ Will not be going back. read more

Cool place and have had good experiences in the past but last night was underwhelming. Bunch of tables open, three hostesses but a 45 min wait? Went to Mikey's in Plover for an amazing pizza with great service. read more

This review is ONLY for the service my wife and I received today. Arrived for early bite to eat after a day of shopping. Went to the bar for cocktails, bar tender did not ask what vodka my wife wanted in her drink and gave her Gordon rail vodka. Got seated and waited 20 minutes without our server coming. I normally would have gotten up and left. I like the food at PJ's, so I went to the hostess. At that time all the servers were hanging out at the wait station. My wife ordered the Egg Rolls and Fried Rice while I ordered a Pepperoni Pizza. The food was very As I said this review is for service only. read more

The location and atmosphere is great, The wait staff was not very clear on the menu items and what was ordered, was not what we received. Will try it again and see if things are better. read more

I heard about this place and actually had a tough time finding it. After I did, I fell in love!! The beer is so cheap here even with the exceptional atmosphere! I had the Caprese salad with chicken and loved it! I was a little disappointed that I had to pay an extra $.50 for a teaspoon of extra balsamic but whatever. read more

The grounds are a really pretty place to visit. The food is good and the prices are decent. I would go back again. The quality of the food was high. Get the pizza. read more

My new favorite in Stevens Point. I love a good supper club, and there are many good ones in the area. But it's great to have a restaurant that is adventuresome in its offerings, and that's PJ's. Every meal I've eaten here has been excellent. Every.Single. One. The surroundings are lovely, too. Plus the desserts.....I can't say enough good things about how fortunate we are that PJ's opened. read more

For the atmosphere, beer selection and general vibe of PJ's, I give 3 stars. Their food falls short on quality. The menu is intriguing and creative yet the execution is horrible. We had pizza last night where the toppings were sparse. Like 2 sausages per slice. 1 mushroom per slice. Undercooked as well. A panini was TINY and not very good at all. It looked like something you would pull off the shelf at Kwik Trip and microwave. read more

Just got into town and was looking for a nice, casual restaurant to have dinner. PJ's came up as a popular place with good reviews and it wasn't far from our hotel. Was very impressed with the well-kept grounds, gorgeous building and spacious, beautifully-decorated restaurant. We were seated right away since it was a Tuesday night and there were only a handful of tables with customers. It took awhile for our server to come to our table. When he did, we ordered our drinks and food. My husband ordered a soup with his meal. The soup came before our drinks and with no bread or crackers. We had to ask for that and when bread finally came, the soup was almost finished. Btw, menus were left at table. My husband and son enjoyed their meals (pulled pork sandwich and crispy chicken sandwich). I ordered the Tuesday blue plate special (fried chicken legs and tator tot waffles). The chicken legs looked like they had been put in the fryer several times (hard and black) and the tator tot waffle was over-cooked as well. I didn't eat my meal. Probably won't go back for food, maybe drinks. Our son is a student at UWSP so we'll probably be visiting Stevens Point a lot, just not eating at PJ's. read more

This place was amazing!!!! If I ever visit Wisconsin again, I'll definitely be coming back. Please try there cheese Curds!

The place is really nice. They were out of many beer selections which was a bummer. The food was 50/50...half 5 star great and the other half no star wish I would have gone to Wendy's cause it would have been a better option. Our server was sweet, but we were rushed in the beginning and then she was no where to be found when you needed something. This could be a great place with some attention to details in the front and back of house. read more

Great atmosphere and good food. Love the way they have decorated and the fireplace. In nice weather eat outside. Heat lamps and outdoor fire pits. read more

The food is great; I've had pizza, pasta, sandwiches...all fantastic. Cheese curds out of this world. Great selection of Wisconsin beers. Nice wine list. Erin J was a top shelf server!! Only drawback------bring back the pecan bar and peanut butter pie!!! Dessert menu needs 'em back! read more

The food was excellent and the bartender was efficient and attentive. However, the assistant manager and our server made our experience far less enjoyable. Right off the bat there was excessive confusion about a simple request to eat dinner outside, we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table when it did not appear busy at all (many empty tables - however I understand there were likely some restrictions with covid), our server was extremely slow, inefficient, and seemed to lack training, he couldn't figure out how to transfer our bar tab to our bill (which can be done here) causing confusion with the bartender and resulting in our group having to pay at the table and the bar, and FINALLY the server used my card to cash out my bill and another persons bill!! We were at this restaurant for 2 hours and could have easily been in and out within an hour had the service been better. I loved PJ's when I lived in Stevens Point a few years ago but this experience makes me not want to re-visit. read more

Kristin rocks, great service. Only down side to this establishment is the awful tasting mints.

The remodeling of the old Sports Plate is really great. I highly recommend it to anyone. Good food, good service, decent prices, you have got to try it. read more

Great atmosphere. Good drinks. We ordered the pizza and thought the crust would be crispier than it was but the flavor was good.

Good food for decent prices. I generally like their specials. The servers seem to not know what's going on most of the time. and the wait and be ridiculous at times. read more

Loved the modern decor, and the wood fired pizzas were amazing. My dad, who is normally hard to please and very meat and potatoes, rated it an A+. We'll be back for sure! read more

Was good. I liked the burger I had here. The room is huge and it does get pretty noisy. The beer cheese soup wasn't very creamy and maybe too cheesy. Never thought I'd say that. It was a decent experience and I would probably go back. Just not as good as the hype. read more

Pizza is excellent and very affordable. Great local beer selection. Outdoor seating a real joy with panoramic view of new golf course! Garrick the bartender was excellent and manager Julia super nice! Recommend to all visiting Point! read more

Recently had the pleasure of dining here on both a Saturday and Sunday for dinner in one weekend. The staff was friendly and had good menu knowledge to answer questions. All of the dishes we ordered on Saturday were delicious and as described. Locally sourced fresh ingredients really made a difference in escalating the taste levels from good to great. Sunday we ordered the Wood Oven Pizza Buffet. What a great deal and awesome combinations. The Pizza Chefs asked if we were enjoying our pizza and were willing to make pizzas of our choice. Very good experience, scenic grounds, comfortable dining indoors & out and great staff. read more

Atmosphere: The entire facility is brand new and I think they did a beautiful job! There's a modern-rustic feel so it creates an environment fit for almost anyone in the area. The outdoor patio is also a nice place to sit out and eat, when whether permits. Food: Good quality food, with different daily specials all for a reasonable price. The cheese curds are probably the best in town, so much flavor and cheesy goodness! Their entrees are also a good portion and hearty with a rustic edge. The adult beverages are a bit on the pricier end for what you're getting, though. Service: The service is fine, but it's never excellent, and typically on the slower end. It seems like every time I've been here, there are several people servicing my table and there has been no constant "relationship" with a single server. I know that they are relatively new still but after a year, you would think that they would work these kinds of things out. In summary: I'm definitely a returning customer - food and atmosphere are overall really great with mediocre service. read more
