I'm a Point native home for the holidays. Met up with some friends at PJ's the other night based upon a good review from someone. The decor is very cute and a huge improvement over Sports Plate, which used to be in this location. The menu also looked great. We had the cheese tray as an appetizer which was nice, I've also heard good things about the pizzas. Unfortunately, the service was awful. Our food took a quite a while to come out, and in the mean time we were never asked about more drinks and the dirty dishes from our appetizer sat on the table even after the entrees arrived. When they finally did arrive, it was clear it had been sitting under a heating lamp for a while. I ordered the salmon (medium rare) and it was very hard. Also, it came with a cucumber fennel salad, and the salmon was placed on top of that. After sitting under the heat lamp for so long the fennel cucumber salad was warm and slimy, very unappetizing! My friend ordered a steak, rare, but when it arrived I would have described it as well done. The server asked her to check whether it was to her liking, but after waiting for so long to get the food, we were hungry and reticent to send anything back. I'm normally not a big review writer, but having dropped $30 on drinks and an entree I couldn't believe how much I spent for such a poor experience. In a town like Stevens Point, I could get a lot more (and better experience) elsewhere. This place is very cute and has an ambitious menu. It's clear a lot of money was poured into the concept, it's here to stay. But please (!!!) work on service and presentation. read more

Since their recent opening we've had lunch here three times and have had a chance to try quite a few of their menu items. Everything we've tried has been excellent. I especially enjoy their venison chili which is superb. The pizzas are great coming out fast and hot from their new pizza oven. PJ's is the new Sportplate. I loved going to Sportplate for their great Friday fish fry. PJ's is a modern rustic setting with local food choices on the menu. They do still have a fish fry, but it is not the same as before. PJ's is very spacious and open. They have a great outdoor patio area with fire pits and seating. They do not serve food outside unfortunately. My husband and I both enjoyed the setting and the food. read more

Not customer friendly. They would not let me substitute veggies for my 1 yr old daughter's fries nor could I even order veggies on the side. The menu is very limited and does not accurately reflect the food. The pan seared fish is beer battered and deep fried. Talk about false advertising. You are not allowed to eat anything the bar on weekends. Not even appetizers. The Sports Plate was worlds different. New look but they regressed in quality. read more

This review is ONLY for the service my wife and I received today. Arrived for early bite to eat after a day of shopping. Went to the bar for cocktails, bar tender did not ask what vodka my wife wanted in her drink and gave her Gordon rail vodka. Got seated and waited 20 minutes without our server coming. I normally would have gotten up and left. I like the food at PJ's, so I went to the hostess. At that time all the servers were hanging out at the wait station. We really want to like this place. Our first experience we went mid week over the lunch hour. We got the cheese curds (great) and chicken salad sandwich and the hubby got pizza. We walked away very happy. Came back again during the week but at dinner. We were seated quickly but we Waited 15 minutes to even even be acknowledged by our waitress. She finally came and took our drink order (tap beer and sweetened tea) waited another 15 minutes for our drinks then both drinks were incorrect. After flagging out waitstaff down about our drinks and to order she didn't apologize or anything.. Just not good. Food was very average. Just got into town and was looking for a nice, casual restaurant to have dinner. PJ's came up as a popular place with good reviews and it wasn't far from our hotel. Was very impressed with the well-kept grounds, gorgeous building and spacious, beautifully-decorated restaurant. We were seated right away since it was a Tuesday night and there were only a handful of tables with customers. It took awhile for our server to come to our table. When he did, we ordered our drinks and food. My husband ordered a soup with his meal. The soup came before our drinks and with no bread or crackers. We had to ask for that and when bread finally came, the soup was almost finished. Btw, menus were left at table. My husband and son enjoyed their meals (pulled pork sandwich and crispy chicken sandwich). I ordered the Tuesday blue plate special (fried chicken legs and tator tot waffles). The chicken legs looked like they had been put in the fryer several times (hard and black) and the tator tot waffle was over-cooked as well. I didn't eat my meal. Probably won't go back for food, maybe drinks. Our son is a student at UWSP so we'll probably be visiting Stevens Point a lot, just not eating at PJ's. read more

First dinner outing in Stevens Point did not dissapoint. Huge open restaurant with many seating options for casual drinks and conversation to a full on family dinner. Big fire rings outside were lit if you felt like braving the cold. Great beer selection on tap, almost exclusively WI beers. The menu looked very appetizing. I had an order of fried cheese curds which were excellent (from a Texans perspective). Roasted veggie salad was refreshing to go with the mac and cheese nihhtly special. Wait staff at the bar were friendly as every Wisconsonian that ive ever met. Will be returning before the trip is over. read more

Called twice (the first two weeks ahead) for reservations They do not take reservations, but said there would be not problem seating our group of 10. What a load of bull. Found out later they have a room for 8 or more that can be reserved. Went in Saturday 12/12/15 for our promised expeditious service and were told there was a 1/1/2 hour wait. Major problem, solved, we went to Micheles and left them the $500+ we would have spent............ Will not be going back. read more

The food was excellent and the bartender was efficient and attentive. However, the assistant manager and our server made our experience far less enjoyable. Right off the bat there was excessive confusion about a simple request to eat dinner outside, we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table when it did not appear busy at all (many empty tables - however I understand there were likely some restrictions with covid), our server was extremely slow, inefficient, and seemed to lack training, he couldn't figure out how to transfer our bar tab to our bill (which can be done here) causing confusion with the bartender and resulting in our group having to pay at the table and the bar, and FINALLY the server used my card to cash out my bill and another persons bill!! We were at this restaurant for 2 hours and could have easily been in and out within an hour had the service been better. I loved PJ's when I lived in Stevens Point a few years ago but this experience makes me not want to re-visit. read more

My new favorite in Stevens Point. I love a good supper club, and there are many good ones in the area. But it's great to have a restaurant that is adventuresome in its offerings, and that's PJ's. Every meal I've eaten here has been excellent. Every.Single. One. The surroundings are lovely, too. The place is really nice. They were out of many beer selections which was a bummer. The food was 50/50...half 5 star great and the other half no star wish I would have gone to Wendy's cause it would have been a better option. Our server was sweet, but we were rushed in the beginning and then she was no where to be found when you needed something. I heard about this place and actually had a tough time finding it. After I did, I fell in love!! The beer is so cheap here even with the exceptional atmosphere! I had the Caprese salad with chicken and loved it! I was a little disappointed that I had to pay an extra $.50 for a teaspoon of extra balsamic but whatever. read more

After all the hype about P.J.'s we decided to go there for dinner with our relatives. We were rather disappointed and it will be a long time before we go back and try it again. We were seated and then waited about 15 minutes for anyone to come and ask what we wanted to drink. We ordered sandwiches with French fries and soup. Everything was brought at one time. I hated eating my soup while my fries and sandwich sat there getting cold. As we left, we made the suggestion to the assistant manager that the soup be brought out first. read more

Recently had the pleasure of dining here on both a Saturday and Sunday for dinner in one weekend. The staff was friendly and had good menu knowledge to answer questions. All of the dishes we ordered on Saturday were delicious and as described. Locally sourced fresh ingredients really made a difference in escalating the taste levels from good to great. Sunday we ordered the Wood Oven Pizza Buffet. What a great deal and awesome combinations. The Pizza Chefs asked if we were enjoying our pizza and were willing to make pizzas of our choice. Atmosphere: The entire facility is brand new and I think they did a beautiful job! There's a modern-rustic feel so it creates an environment fit for almost anyone in the area. The outdoor patio is also a nice place to sit out and eat, when whether permits. Food: Good quality food, with different daily specials all for a reasonable price. The cheese curds are probably the best in town, so much flavor and cheesy goodness! Their entrees are also a good portion and hearty with a rustic edge. The adult beverages are a bit on the pricier end for what you're getting, though. Service: The service is fine, but it's never excellent, and typically on the slower end. It seems like every time I've been here, there are several people servicing my table and there has been no constant "relationship" with a single server. I know that they are relatively new still but after a year, you would think that they would work these kinds of things out. In summary: I'm definitely a returning customer - food and atmosphere are overall really great with mediocre service. read more

Just an ok experience. This place is very unique and beautiful. We ordered the smelt fries (little fish fries) and they were quite good and unique with corn in tartar sauce. My husband ordered their clam chowder which was odd with a strange sour flavor. He never sends things back, but did this time. His chicken pesto sandwich was not evenly cooked with one side overcooked and the other somewhat undercooked. Understandable, since they did not pound it to an even thickness. Bun was soggy from tomatoes. My flatbread was ok, but had been sold to me as chicken, and arrived with steak. Waiter apologized and said they must have changed it during the evening rush. Kind of odd. Overall if in the area again I might try it once more, since there were some decent items and lovely setting. read more
