I've been to the original Monk's in Wisconsin Dells. The original is a small tavern with great burgers located on the tourism strip downtown. This Monks (in Plover) is a whole different experience. This location is pretty big. Has multiple rooms including a nice sports bar area, a couple of dinning rooms and another indoor/outdoor bar that can be open air in the summer months. Although all of Wisconsin sports are represented on the walls, the theme is primarily Univ of Wisconsin sports. If you are a fan you will enjoy walking around and checking out all the memorabilia. Huge menu. Lots of foods to pick from. I had s really good chef salad. Soup was good too! read more

We used to go to this place more often and I just ordered takeout tonight. We always order a tater tot Mac n cheese with bacon and it's always been enough to have a meal for two or leftovers. We ordered it tonight to go and when I got home it was literally half the portion it used to be. I'll never go back at this point if portions are cut in half and prices go up. No longer worth the money to go. you literally sold me a few dollars worth of food for almost $20. read more

We have been to both the Downtown Dells original and Lake Delton Monk's locations. When downtown, all I ever get is the burger with fries onions. In Lake Delton, my groove is the El Cubano. Tonight I opted for the El Cubano. My wife ordered the Beachside Peach cocktail and did not like it. The Smirnoff Peach vodka, pineapple juice and cranberry juice all seemed to work against each other so that none of the flavors stood out. Nor did they combine to create a blissful tasting experience. To quote my wife, "I would not order that again." The El Cubano exceeded my memory and expectations. The Pork carnitas presented as juicy but not dripping. Perfectly crunchy in-house chips. Fresh bread grilled/toasted just right so I could hear the crunch in my head. The spicy brown mustard, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles pickles combined into a symphony of flavor. To re-cap: if you want a burger, go to the original location in downtown Wisconsin Dells. I'd say monks has pretty good food. Me and my twin go there every year for our birthday for the past 4 years. The manager is very nice and sweet as she made us feel like family, the other employees are also very fast and nice. Been there...done that....won't go back. We had anticipated going here for a month or so and were waiting for the initial excitement to wear off...and it seems to have. The interior is very nice, sports bar feel. We ate at a table in the bar which has a great supply of televisions! It is a bit pricey for a sports bar and gets pricier when you add 99 cents for a substitution on fries and 50 cents for tarter sauce! My husband ordered a Bud Light on tap and had to go to the bar to get a second one...we didn't see our waitress for quite a while. And discovered that they don't have Bud Light on tap. Interesting. Half way through our meal our waitress appeared with bill in hand. I would have liked to try the Peach Cobbler Cheesecake, looked delicious in the menu, but apparently she wasn't interested in adding to our bill so dessert was bought elsewhere. And, next time we are at the Commons, lunch will be elsewhere too. read more

Over priced. While the food was good, not excellent, but good, it was overpriced. For the amounts you get vs the prices, you'd be better off choosing another place. The service was great. Low staffing, but the waitress was apologetic and we were in no rush. The atmosphere itself was nice and no complaints there. Just wish prices weren't so high. read more

I was there for the first, and last time today. When the waitress came to take my order, I told her I'd need a couple more minutes. I decided what I wanted and waited about 15 minutes before I left. They weren't busy. I don't know where she went, but she obviously had better things to do than come back and see if I'd decided yet what I wanted. The staff was terrible. Nobody was smiling or seemed like the were in a good mood. If I had ordered, I would have tipped a little for the food, maybe. Not for the service. You might have a better experience than I did, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place was absolutely horrible! We ordered our drinks for the table and the waiter proceeded to finger the rims of each glass after I asked him to leave them for me to distribute amongst the table. Covid or not, why do that?? We put in our order, we were the only ones in the dining room, and waited 15 minutes for onion sticks and a side salad. The onions were cold and the salad looks like it was pulled out of the garbage. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter he was unnecessarily confrontational, almost as if we were impugning on his honor. Fearing culinary retribution, we promptly left the restaurant. Things happen. I get it. But there was absolutely no excuse for this behavior. Restaurants are dying because of Covid. Use this opportunity to find a restaurant that wants your business. Ok, so it only (satire) took 20 minutes for my waitress to finally wait on me, then another bunch of time to take my food order after bringing my water. Ordered their traditional cheeseburger for $9.99, comes with fries for which I substituted a cup of soup for an extra $.99. The soup was good but the cheeseburger was smaller than a quarter pounder and tasted just as bad or worse. I couldn't eat more than a small bite. When I mentioned I expected a little better quality, they took $3 off the bill so I basically got a cup of soup for $9.03 with tax. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Now I have to find another restaurant so I can chow down. A small cup of soup just isn't doing it for me! read more

We had to run to Plover this evening, and decided to go out for dinner. The place we wanted to go to closed earlier than we thought it would (covid hours?) so we decided to try Monk's. Kind of overloaded on carbs from Thanksgiving, so we opted to order the prime rib instead of sandwiches. It was $18.99 for a 10 ounce cut with a baked potato. I would think that for that price it would come with a salad and maybe some vegies on the side. Nope, just a piece of meat and a potato. I ordered mine medium-rare and it was fine. My wife ordered hers medium and it was not much more done than mine, plus she said it was cold. The meat was over-salted, so I tried dipping it in the jus, but that was super-salty as well. Stop in today for the 1st time, we had Teron as our waiter and he was very pleasant and efficient. Food was great!! I've had DoorDash from here twice and it was very good, so we decided to dine in the restaurant tonight. Our server was such a nice lady, and the food was out very fast. First time and last. Service was good, but food terrible, tasteless and expensive. Burgers were small, chips tasted greasy (old oil) and fries were tasteless. Everything was an upcharge. Fries, seasonal fries or onion rings had to pay more and the burger was already $11. Monks tried being Red Robin, but turned out being a real turkey. read more

Had an amazing experience tonight. A large group of friends got done with work around 8 30pm and we asked if it was OK to come in with about 20 of us with no reservation the staff was incredibly accomidating and kind. The bartender Preston was amazing and pucutual with orders (especially my called drink) and our server kalsie? (I'm so sorry if I don't have your name right) was amazing with acommedating my allergy in the mass of our 20 person group. The manager even got me a last minute milkshake before we left. I adore the people who work here and will sure to recommend them to family, friends, and everyone who will listen. read more

This place is just not good. Service is slow. The burgers are so-so. The salad had too much garlic on it to eat. The kids meal was super greasy. We went to Monks last night to catch the Packers game and have a burger. Not a good idea, when we got there we noticed that the parking lot was almost empty, that should have been our first clue. We went in and seated ourselves at the bar since there was hardly no one there and the hostess said it was O.K. Bartender was friendly enough, not overly nice but O.K. if you like servers wearing their masks under their noses all the time while their serving your drinks and food. Then I noticed that the owners were sitting at the bar with another couple, not a good idea in my opinion in the bar/food business. They were also kind bragging that they were there two nights a week and two nights a week at the other place that they own from what we could gather. Now back to the food. We had appetizers, I ordered the braided pretzel and it was over cooked and dryed out. Then we also had bone in wings and those were good. We then ordered burgers, big mistake, they came, very greasy. I couldn't eat mine in the bun at all. I had the battered fries and they were tasteless. My better half had the monster burger and his burger was even greasier if that's possible, but he managed to eat his because he hadn't eaten all day and he had the cheese curds and those were good. Our first drinks were served on time and his second drink was almost forgotten. Then it was half time during the Packer game the rest of the peoe left and we were just finishing up and we had some of our drinks left and they started putting the stools on the bar before we were done, so I guess we were done even if weren't done. We will never go back there again, don't waste your time or money. We also own a small business here in Stevens Point and would never treat people the way we were treated, besided I was in service industry for 15 years and if you needed to close up all you need to do is politely tell the customer that it's closing time and you need to start your closing duties, but you don't start putting bar stools on the bar when you still have customers at the bar. read more

My cheesesteak was amazing-everything else was kind of salty. They have this weird sauce-can't remember the name of it but if you like red hot mixed with French dressing, you might like it! (Not.Me.!) Reminds me of Applebees or Chilis-about the same quality/flavor/atmosphere. I was excited for this coming to town, heard lots of great reviews of all the other locations, but I wasn't wowed by it. Servers were really great and nice though!
