This is one beautiful restaurant and grounds. The bartenders are friendly and make great drinks. Sitting at the bar before dinner was enjoyable. Unfortunately our dinner experience was not good. We spent almost three hours at dinner waiting for missed drinks and missed food! Management please work with your servers. Educate them on the meals that are offered. Not knowing what is in a dish is ridiculous. Not telling us about the Friday fish fry (we found out after dinner). When a burger got missed on our order because of the server, have the kitchen rush on a burger instead of one person in our party of eight waiting 45 minutes for their burger while we all ate. Such a shame because our food was good. We just did not plan on sitting there for almost three hours! We wanted to have an after drink outside but it was too late. I worry for this place. read more

It is one of the only restaurants open on a Sunday evening in this area, so sometimes we end up eating there. And every time we do, we say it's the last time. Because every time it is a disappointment. But! It was another Sunday evening, we had family in town, and where else can we go? For a place such as Sentry, with the amount of money rolling around that joint, you'd think they might hire someone who knows how to make a salad or some french fries. Easy stuff. But, like most other places in every other generic part of this country, all the food at PJs tastes like it came off a Cysco frozen-foods truck. Please, use higher quality ingredients. It's one of the easiest things to do in Stevens Point because there are so many talented farmers growing amazing food. And then, get yourself some skilled kitchen workers. Located inside of SentryWorld, this restaurant has a great deal of visual appeal. With seating inside and out, it is versatile for those who have finished a round of golf or just want to go to a "nicer" restaurant for the evening. When our party was there, it was somewhat loud in the inside seating area. Tables are spaced in a manner to give your party plenty of room from other patrons. We ordered drinks through our waitress. While the bar service was very slow, the drinks we received were very good. The old fashioned drinks had been hand muddled; which is a must for some drinkers. To start our meal, we ordered Farmhouse Ale Cheese Curds and White Truffle Tots. The curds were great. The tots came with a small portion of dipping sauce (make sure to ask for more). The tots would have been better if they had not simply been plain tots with sauce. Both appetizer portions easily fed our party of four. The menu is a little different. It is probably because the restaurant is trying to cater to both golfers and regular customers. For a "nice" restaurant, it had a very small selection of full meals (meat, potato and salad). There were plenty of salads and sandwiches to choose from. How was the food? Everyone at our table agreed their food had great flavor. The Mac and cheese with chicken, buttermilk chicken sandwich and smash burger all received thumbs up. They only offered one steak and a half order of ribs for someone seeking a hearty meal. I went with the hangar steak. It had great flavor and was a good piece of meat (small - 6oz). My request was for it to be medium rare. Aside from one end piece, it was mostly medium/medium well. I'd have said something but our food had taken a long time to arrive and our waitress was already overworked. Lastly, our waitress was terrific. I believe her name was Valerie. She was cheerful, accommodating and made the long wait for drinks and main courses acceptable by stopping back several times to apologize for delays. Without her great service, I'd consider a three star rating (disappointing tots and overcooked steak). Because of her, I gave the experience 4 stars. Would I go back? Probably. I'd set my sights lower and settle for a sandwich, fries and a drink; but I'd consider a return trip. read more

The food needs help. Heck, the help needs help. For such a beautiful setting, it's a shame it's such a letdown. There are some bright spots, like with their cheese curds, but it's often the exception rather than the rule. Slow service is often, and food that comes out and is close to inedible also happens way too frequently. It used to be great food, but has sharply declined over the last couple years. Dry overcooked outside and an undercooked/doughy inside. "The Cure" pizza advertised as topped with an arugula salad was simply leaves scattered about. Went to PJ's on Thanksgiving. They had a traditional Thanksgiving turkey special in addition to their regular menu. Three in our party had the turkey and it was wonderful. One of us had a pasta dish from their regular menu and it was also very good. The fruit tart dessert was fabulous. Service was friendly and attentive but not overly so. Beautiful place to eat in Stevens Point. I love how there is outdoor dining, which looks over the golf course at SentryWorld and as long as the wind isn't too strong, you won't regret eating outside. If I'm correct, their menu changes from time to time (not sure when exactly) but I have been noticing that their menu looks different since the last time I've gone to eat here. Some of their items seem like they're permanent, for example their brussel sprouts. By the way, the brussel sprouts are AMAZING. They have daily specials as well that are described by your server. Make sure to call ahead or make reservations beforehand because sometimes they close for private events. They often hold private events like weddings and banquets, so it's best to check before dining. read more

We had my birthday dinner here. The service was very good but the food was mediocre at best and overpriced. I had the Midwest chopped salad with salmon. This was over $20 for a piece of salmon the size of my palm. The salad was overloaded with raw onion which overwhelmed the flavor. The salad was not chopped at all with large pieces of lettuce. This is the nicest atmosphere/food per dollar restaurant is stevens point. My only complaint- they are owned by the insurance company sentry. This means they don't need the money and they seem to be afraid of getting sued. Why is that a problem? During Covid they are the first place to close and the last to open. They don't need the money. We went for dinner and my husband ordered the shrimp scampi for $20 and it was a small serving of pasta served in a side salad dish! We laughed at how small it was. My burger was great, however! The food here is decent, nothing spectacular. The Monday special is a NY Steak. The quality of the meat is okay. It was a bit chewy. I asked for medium rare and it came out medium well. Oh well. The rest of the menu looks diverse, covering many countries, but the food is not that great. However, the venue and restaurant are beautiful. It is located on a golf course so the view is beautiful. Wow...the building and decor match the wow food factor. The smash burger is fantastic. Do not be scared off by the two 1/4 pound patties. The burger is not too big. It is so good that even if you don't finish it, so what! The pizza was very flavorful. The sausage is presented with good size meatballs. The crust is super thin. It isn't crisp. You will need a fork to eat it. Our side salad was delicious especially with the basil dressing. The staff is super friendly. This place must be amazing in the fall with the trees changing colors! We went to PJ's at SentryWorld with a group. The outing was suggested by a couple who lived in Stevens Point. We had a group of 30, so we made reservations in advance. When we arrived, we were seated at 4 different tables in 4 completely different areas. It ended up working out fine; however, not what we expected. Our waitress was attentive, brought drinks quickly, and was helpful while taking orders. She made suggestions to assist those of us who were on our first visit. I decided to try the flatbread of the day. It was an interesting combination of meats, vegetables, and sauces. The taste was unique and flavorful. We had several kids at our table. The kids menu had multiple options - chicken tenders, pizza, cheese quesadilla, etc. The kids gobbled up what they were served. The restaurant is in an amazing setting and the ambiance inside is unique and special. I'd like to return during the summer to take advance of their outdoor seating. We had a group of 10, 1:00 reservation was not available but 12:30 was. We took the 12:30 reservation,hurried to get there after graduation only to wait over an hour and half for food. Were given the excuse that because we were a big group food took longer. The appetizer were good, food was ok, my mom ordered pizza with roasted vegetables and "little sausage " the pizza was mostly sausage and hardly any vegetables. Salad with chicken had little dressing and was the last dish to come out. The two slice of bread that came with the fish and chips was frozen together. First visit of PJs was a good one. Food was seasoned with big flavors and service was great. The second and third visits were unfortunately my last as the same Mac and cheese and sandwich dishes were severely under seasoned (forgot to salt the pasta water and add more cheese?) and the service was lacking. I usually review for food and not the service but you can tell a lot about the house's food knowledge or lack there of by communicating with the server. For example, I asked for my salmon medium. The optimal way to serve salmon without over cooking and drying it out is at least to a medium or even rarer and any high level restaurant does this. The server told me rather condescendingly that you cannot do that. He asked the chef for me to which the "chef" responded that fish has to be cooked well done which is just not true. I work as a chef and have worked extensively with seafood, and it's pretty common knowledge that salmon is best served still pale pink in the middle, look it up. The same risks that warns us of rare steaks should apply to salmon in principle and I should have the freedom to order my salmon cooked properly. Needless to say they brought out my salmon overcooked, dry, and rather bland. To further demonstrate PJ's lack of food knowledge is their "ramen" dish which was a blatant disrespect towards real ramen and shows a complete lack of understanding not just to culture but cooking fundamentals in general. For a full priced bowl, you got a bland broth that lacked body, raw onions, carrots, and mushrooms not even cut thinly enough if the goal was to have them be blanched in the hot broth (like in pho perhaps?..which isn't even Japanese and uses completely different techniques), and noodles that tasted like packaged ramen instead of proper alkaline noodles that holds its texture in hot broth. The fact that they even put this out and labeled it ramen is an insult probably thought to be uncaught in Stevens point. The menu has changed since then and I sincerely hope this place has at least improved to be at least close to what it once was. read more

Second time, we sat in the cozy dining room; great atmosphere. The views of the golf course and outdoor seating area are beautiful. However, our issue came with the service. When we arrived, the hostess offered us indoor or outdoor seating. We said we'd like outdoor. She said the only tables available were in direct sunlight and if we wanted to wait for something else, it would be a half hour. We agreed to wait. We went outside to the patio to wait and saw multiple tables open not in direct sunlight. In addition, we passed a nearly empty dining room full of empty tables where we could have been seated. After a full half hour wait, we were seated outside in one of the empty, non-direct sun, tables that were open the entire half hour we were waiting. Ridiculous. read more
