This place is a hidden gem in Stevens Point. Been visiting this area for a number of years now and had limited success finding a good restaurant. Got advice from locals to check this place out and wasn't disappointed. Walking in we thought we'd be underdressed but since it's connected to tennis courts we grew more comfortable. Decor is modern repurposing vibe that is very comfortable. Enjoyed the bar area with lots of tvs and a view of the golf course. It was March so the patio wasn't open but have heard this is a great place to hang out on a nice summer evening. Food was good and relatively inexpensive for what you get. We would have priced this place a few dollars more per entree had it been in a larger city. Will definitely be coming back next time we are in the Stevens Point area. Hoping to play some golf here as well. read more

My wife and I meet another couple here for lunch. Never having been here I have to say the whole building was super impressive. It made me want to work for Sentry Inurance. We just happened to pick to eat here on a day when they were having some sort of run in the golf course so we had about a 40 minute wait for lunch. Normally I would have been annoyed by this but the building was so cool and the had such a comfortable sitting area to wait in. Once it was our turn to be seated our very friendly hostess took us to our table. The inside of the restaurant was very cool to, like I stated earlier it is just a cool building. And even with as busy as they were they waitress showed up promptly and was very friendly as well. The menu had a nice selection. We ordered the cheese platter for an app, I got a burger and my wife ordered a blt. I am going to go into detail on everything because everything we had was amazing. So as you can tell we loved this place, how much did we love it? We almost ended up going back there again later in the day for dinner but decided that would be weird and decided to try someplace else since we had never been to Stevens Point before. read more

I've eaten at PJ's roughly 8 times since it opened, and they have yet to wow me. About last night: My Mac and cheese was not only tasteless, it was dry shell noodles with a watery substance at the bottom of the dish which was supposed to be the cheese sauce. It was "edible" if you were to force me to eat it. My friend ordered the curry dish. She said it was not a pleasant experience. I didn't try it so I cannot say more. The restaurant was very busy, so I will assume that is the reason we rarely saw our waitress. Yes I told her the food was bad she offered to get me something else, but it was late and my appetite was ruined. I drank alcohol instead. I was charged the full amount for the noodles. In this particular case, I view that as theft. I will steer clear of PJ's as the food is typically disappointing and this was the nail in the coffin. read more

Went to PJ's tonight for the first time and all I can say is WOW! They didn't disappoint. The food was delicious - no complaints whatsoever. The atmosphere is upscale, but not so upscale that it feels stuffy or uncomfortable. The menu has a good selection of items to choose from. Service was on point (our server Ryan really took care of us). The restaurant/building itself is beautiful and definitely makes an impression the minute you drive into the parking lot. A lunch group of four were here July 16th. We had enjoyed lunch here several times in the past years. Three of us ordered the basil tomato soup. It tasted like lukewarm Ragu pasta sauce, inedible and the saltiness were soggy and very stale. The same three people ordered salads that were supposed to have goat cheese. They came with flecks of cheese, not crumbles, and no dressing. We asked for dressing and bread or rolls at extra cost. We were told they only had hamburger buns or rye bread. The person next to me had the fish fry and the smell of old fish was overwhelming. This was not the PJ's we had experienced in the past and will not want to come to in the future. We love Pjs. The atmosphere is terrific and the restaurant layout and decor is first rate. In winter, with the fire pits outside, the place is cozy and welcoming. The food? Well it's good but could be and should be better. My airline chicken came on a plate that looked like the kitchen had just thrown it together. Chicken, a spoonful of risotto and a single broccoli sprout with some sauce on one side of the dish. My wife's pastrami sandwich was over salted as were her fries. The service was slow and forgetful. The waiter seemed New and untrained. We had a good time nonetheless and will certainly be back but management needs to pay more attention to the kitchen and waitstaff and get this place from a 6 or7 up to a 10 on our opinion. read more

Nice setting on the Sentry World grounds. I expected more of a Country Club atmosphere but PJ's is more casual and relaxed. Prices are closer to a Country Club though. Not overly thrilled with the fish and chips, they came served in a cone with no plate which made it a finger food experience. No staff around after our food was delivered to even ask for a plate. That arrangement made for soggy fries and sticky fingers. read more

Drinks here are a 5 star. Food here unfortunately is a 2 at best. Order friday fish fry walleye. Three pieces the size of a small perth and Luke warm. Flavor iffy. Coleslaw not worth eating. Baked potato was luke warm. Wife had surf and turf. It came cold, I mean really cold like it came out of the refrigerator. Had to send it back. They must have tried to heat it up in microwave because it came back fast and only a little warm. Flavors were not as good as it should be. Decided to give up and bring it home to warm up in the oven and add some spices. Very disappointed. Beautiful, beautiful, place but the food sucks. Will come back here for drinks only in the future. I absolutely love coming to PJ's! I couldn't even tell you how many times my husband and I have been here since it opened up. You just can't beat the prices or the atmosphere here. They also make fabulous drinks (especially old fashioneds) and have a wonderful beer selection. Our favorite appetizer is their local cheese board. It's different every time we come and it's always delicious. It comes with three different cheeses, as well as a jam with bread, usually some sort of pickled vegetable and pumpkin seeds. They really do a nice job on it! (The meat board is the same except..well..with meat.) Their pizzas are delicious. We really liked their taco pizza with fish. I never thought I would enjoy a pizza with fish on it...but it was so good! I can't remember which night that's a special, though. Thursday's special of wood oven pot roast is by far my favorite special. It is so tasty and filling. The rest of the specials are good, they just aren't as knock-your-socks-off good as Thursday night's. (My husband's favorite is the grilled pork chop.) I am very picky about my salads, but I love their spinach salad. It's a really tasty, huge salad. I added chicken to it and couldn't finish the whole thing (and I have a rather large appetite). Their desserts are wonderful, too. I love their apple pie and local fruit cobbler (it changes seasonally and was always delicious.) I would also like to say, that my husband and I came here for their Valentine's Day special and we really enjoyed it! They did a very nice job on the decorations and we really enjoyed the menu. This restaurant was previously called "Sport Plate" and is part of SentryWorld: Complete with golf, tennis, volleyball and a wedding/banquet facility. The restaurant and entire SentryWorld complex has been rebuilt with a unique and thoughtful design that is impressive. The food here is as good as the atmosphere. PJ's has a stone oven (you know, really really hot) and the pizza is the best around thanks to the varied and delicious veggies featured (which change depending on what is available). The bar is cool and has enough beer selection even for your beer snob buddy who only drinks locally brewed IPAs. Check it out if you are in the area or just passing through. Take the time to find it it will be well worth your effort. Be wary of busy Friday nights however. Since there are no reservations you may find it difficult to get a table in a timely manner. read more

We were traveling through Stevens point on our way back from Thanksgiving celebration. I use yelp very often and this place seems like it had good reviews. What a gem! We had the cheese curds as an appetizer and they were excellent. My husband had the beer cheese soup and Reuben and the kids had macaroni and cheese. These kids like nothing but Kraft! But They were in love with this homeade Mac n cheese! My made to order woodfire pizza was great. The only complaint and posswas that they did not provide us with a drink menu. After my husband had ordered a beer, I saw somebody come out with a beer flight which would've been nice. The facility is absolutely beautiful. Had dinner at PJ's in the past and have been happy. Last night...not so much. Food was Ok. Atmosphere was nice. Host was cool. Waitress not so good. Plus, on top of it, because there was two groups of 4(8) people, the check came back with gratuity added automatically. At 20%. This is the rub. I am a very fair tipper. But our waitress was not friendly to me or my family. And, if you expect me to tip 20%, you better be friendly. A suggestion to the restaurant: Let the customer decide what to tip. We went mid day for pizza and a drink. We sat outside which was nice. The pretzel appetizer we ordered was unavailable, but they had a replacement that was almost as good. The service was slow, but we were seated a bit far away so maybe that explains some of it. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni and jalapeno, and a pizza with pepperoni and green peppers showed up. When I told the server, she nonchalantly said "huh, it must have went in the system wrong." That was it. No offer to make it right, or even an apology. The pizza was still good. The price was decent. I can't complain overly much. This place is gorgeous - it really is. The new(ish) renovation was tastefully done and it's just..it's beautiful. We went in a bit later (7:00ish) on a Saturday night. Had about a 10-15 minute wait which wasn't bad. What sort of killed it for us was the service-I'm not sure if the guy was new or overwhelmed, but it took about 15 minutes to get our initial order of drinks. And the next order of drinks? About 20 minutes. We sat near the blackboard where they list the specials for the day, and I watched as about every 3-5 minutes they walked over and erased things from said board. Their oven was broken so no pizza or veggies that night. The chef's special was "all out," so we couldn't try that either. It was disappointing, but I will definitely go back to give them another shot. Hey! We all have off nights! Their fries were fantastic!!! UPDATE: Came back and tried PJ's again and it was great! The long islands were the best I've ever had and the pizza was fantastic! The cheese curds appetizers were the best I've ever had as wel, hands down! To make it even better, we sat out by the fire pit and enjoyed a few more drinks....its was absolutely great. A very good night! The prices here aren't bad..I'm honestly surprised they don't charge more considering how beautiful this place is. We have been to PJs a couple of different times now and each time has been a delight. Last night we decided to take advantage of their outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is beautifully decorated with fireplaces and ambient lighting. When we go to PJs we like to share an appetizer and pizza. An incredible presentation as a restaurant and a very friendly staff. My chicken cordon bleu was good but I will probably not get it again. With that being said I was able to try a little bit of the fish and it is outstanding! The atmosphere is very "Wisconsin", there are hints of vintage dairy farm in the artwork and decor. But it also has a really cool modern swing to it! The food is your typical American cuisine (nothing overly unique), however they put a twist on it! Each week they have a special loaded up macaroni which has yet to do me wrong. Good food, excellent place, BUT the management is too cheap to hire adequate staff. As a result, one can't order food at the bar, or at the lounge. Want to watch a football game? Well tough luck, can't have food with your game because the manager would not allow the servers to serve food at the bar or the lounge. I have been here twice. One was for the outdoor music they have on Wednesday nights in the summer. Another time I ate with a friend inside. The music nights, if you want a seat outside at a table, I suggest you get there early. The food and service is very good. A heads up, the prices are higher for the area but the quality is worth it. As for inside it is very nice and roomy. The only issue I have inside here is it is not for the hard of hearing folks. I could not hear my friend directly across from me because of the echo that is inside. I avoid it on rainy days for that reason. If I can sit outside I'm fine. read more
