DELICIOUS!!!! I asked a friend to order some pizza and have it delivered for me so that I could feed some friends who were helping me move. I had never heard of this place but let me tell you, the pizza was simply delicious. I am not a big fan of just cheese pizza but Bacio's pizza changed that. Another excellent meal, probably the best Italian restaurant in Poughkeepsie. Portions are very large, good quality, fresh and a very good price. I order from Bacio like once a week, it's a problem haha. But I have gotten pizza, the Insalatina salad, linguini bandiera with shrimp, tortellini soup, pasta fagioli and stuffed rigatoni from there which were ALL delicious. The stuffed rigatoni is one of my favorite meals ever. The only downfall I would say is that I ordered the chicken linguini and wanted to sub out chicken for shrimp and they charged me extra for each shrimp and asked me how many I wanted. I think if you're substituting a protein for another protein it should be free. Otherwise, food is delish and people are always nice when I call! read more

I always think "I should try some of the other restaurants by Vassar" whenever I come into town for Powerhouse shows. Then every year, I find myself at Pizzeria Bacio and wonder why I ever thought I should cheat on it with another restaurant. On my most recent visit, I dined with my parents - and let me tell you, it's damn near impossible to find restaurants all three of us want to eat in. I had the eggplant rollatini with a salad and got a large portion of delicious eggplant. My mother had a veggie wrap and my father a chicken Parmesan geo with fries. All of our food was great and I was the only person who didn't have leftovers - but that was only because I didn't get the pasta with my meal and shared some of the eggplant. I was disappointed they were out of lemon sorbet (which is amazing) and got the peach sorbet instead. The presentation in the frozen peach is wonderful, but it tasted a little too much like canned syrupy peaches instead of peach for me to order again (which is fine because hopefully next time they'll have the lemon). The only downside is that the restaurant is very loud. My hard of hearing father has trouble keeping up with the conversation there. Five stars anyway, though, because it is consistently delicious year after year, with today being no exception to that rule. I purchased 2 wedges and an order of mozzarella sticks I have to say the food is the worst I have had in a long time. I ordered a chicken parm wedge they used chicken fingers instead a fresh chicken cutlet only half of the wedge had cheese. The other wedge was supposed to have fresh mozzarella it only had a few small pieces of cheese. The mozzarella sticks are frozen I wouldn't feed it to my dog don't let the pictures of food deceive you. They should be ashamed to charge $28 for this garbage. read more

This is prob one of the best pizzerias in the Poughkeepsie area. My favorite things to order the French fries and chicken parm heroes. The penne a la vodka is pretty basic so I wouldn't recommend it. You musttttt try the zapoles (fried dough) though, they're amazing and it's a whole bunch. read more

Once I had the order placed at Bacio they said it would take 45 to an hour to be delivered I ask if it was possible to expedite the order to have it here at 11:30 am and I was handed the meal for my boss at 11:30 am on the dot. Pizza is good but, they started charging a dollar per mile for delivery. My family has ordered many times in the past and this was never Bacio's policy. Most people have to order delivery right now during the Covid Crisis and a lot of people are unemployed. I mean I understand businesses are suffering but, it's kind of an unfair cash grab and it makes us less likely to leave their drivers better tips. read more

Went here during my trip to NY. Me and some close family decided to stop by and eat because we were hungry. We got a few starters like the pie with loads of Parmesan cheese, it was really oily as well. The garlic knots were very dry and had no flavor, super disappointed. The main dish I got was the rigatoni pasta which was ok, the sauce was good but wasn't very satisfying. The outdoor seating was great. The waitress was also nice on helping with the menu and patient. Nice place in the row of bars and restaurants across the street from Vassar. Inside is cozy, warm, and inviting and the waiters are quick and polite. I ordered the chicken parm lunch portion which was enormous and my friend had the eggplant parm with sphaghetti (also huge). Garlic knots were well baked, great flavor. Anyone judgement on an Italian place has to be of their marinara sauce and boy did Bacio's not disappoint: tomatoes were perfectly ground, there was a smoky but tangy flavor and it paired great over linguine. Though I am not quite old enough to remember when this place was the infamous deli, I do know that in many ways Pizzeria Bacio is far superior to its other predecessors (Sub Skye & that other pizza place whose name escapes me). Solid food as far as the pizza and pasta dishes go. I personally enjoyed anything alla vodka, and my house always ordered the pizza rustica, which is a meat lovers pizza to end all other meat lovers pizzas (sausage, pepperoni, ham, AND meatballs). The lunch prices are good but I always thought the dinner prices were a little high. Vassar kids, they're open (and deliver) til 4am on weekends, but it can take over an hour for the pizza to get to you if you're ordering in the wee hours of the morning. But if you walk in, they take V-Cash, which is obviously Totally Awesome. Oh and the restaurant actually looks nice, and while the tables can be a bit awkwardly arranged, they've made good use of the space unlike multiple previous tenants. read more

"It was the best of times it was the worst of times" I had one of best margherita pizzas I have ever had, here in Bacio, one friday. I was there for lunch with a few friends. The following wednesday night, I had the worst margherita I ever tasted when I got a pie as a take out from this very same place. The first pie was a perfect crisp thin crust pizza. And the second was soggy pie, water dripping from it, of dubious (non)thinness, absolutely horrible. I almost cried. And no, I was not dreaming. It was the very same place. Baccio's is a solid place to go for pizza or other Italian-American fare. The restaurant is pretty small (about 12 tables), made up of mainly hard surfaces (it can get loud), a bit drafty on cold nights, and often has big tables of Vassar kids, so the atmosphere isn't great. The servers are all very nice and certainly try, but the restaurant can feel chaotic and service can get slow if the restaurant gets too busy. For a casual dinner (it's very family-friendly) or take out, it's definitely a good option. The food is very tasty--I've never been disappointed with my dinner. The menu consists of a nice selection of pasta dishes, chicken, seafood, and meat entrees, and pizzas. My friends and I usually stick with pizza and pasta--the entrees look good, but they're usually more than I like to spend at a pizza place ($16-22). The Fettucci al Forno is the best dish I've had at Baccio's: egg noodles in a bolognese sauce topped with peas and melted mozzarella. It's simple, but very tasty. I've also enjoyed the Manicotti: it's not remarkable, but it's satisfying. The portions are huge: I usually end up with one or two more meals after the initial dinner. The pizza comes in three different sizes--the small is very generous for one person (four slices), and could easily be split between two people with light appetites or with the addition of an appetizer. You can, of course, pick your own toppings, or go with one of the combinations. I've had the Ortolano (a sauceless pizza topped with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, and roasted peppers), and would definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for something a little different. Baccio's also offers a number of rolls and calzones, which are nice options if you want a pizza-type dish that's one-person sized. The desserts aren't made in the restaurant, but they're certainly tasty: I've enjoyed both the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. read more

First off, can I just say what a pleasure it is to call in an order to Pizzeria Bacio? Even on Friday and Saturday nights, which I'm sure are crazy for them, the girls who answer the phone here are so friendly! This is quite different from what you'll get from other local Poughkeepsie pizzerias. The pizza here is excellent, and we've never had them mess up our order (another major difference from one of their local competitors). We have never eaten in, but we know friends who have and they say that the interior is nice and worth dining in if you are near Vassar college and have a hankering for pizza. As for other menu items, the garlic knots are cheap and delicious, the eggplant rollatini is pretty yummy, and the pepperoni roll is exactly what it is supposed to be: huge, with lots of cheese and pepperoni. The only thing we've ordered from Bacio that we wouldn't order again was the chicken parm sub. The chicken wasn't crispy enough, and there were slices of cheese on top which didn't melt enough to really taste right. This is our usual go-to place for pizza. read more

For pizza, Bacio's is outstanding. I've had several of their pizzas in the past and if you're craving a good pizza, Bacio will not disappoint. However this past week I tried one of their pasta dishes, the Farfalle Bacio which is a red cream sauce with artichokes and chicken over the farfalle. Honestly the sauce was bland, the chicken was bland and overall, the dish was not very good. The two folks Iwas with had the Chicken Parm and an Orichette dish which they both enjoyed, but I did not sample them. Good clean restaurant, very friendly service and excellent pizza. So I just had the worst chicken parm that I have ever eaten...well 1/2 of one because I wouldn't finish it. I only ordered it because they don't have chicken fingers on the menu. Come to find out it's sliced chicken fingers on the sandwich-likely to disguise the chicken fingers. It was dried out and the cheese was over cooked/brown. Bread was hard from over toasting, except for the parts that were wet due to condensation caused by putting in a to go container instead of wrapping it in foil, which they left in the container anyway. A couple weeks ago I booked a small party at Bacio for about thirty people, and I was very impressed with how simple the event was put together. Tricia (or Trisha?) was excellent on the phone while planning it, and was amazing the day of. She and her coworkers sculpted an awesome evening for us that was casual, fun, and well fed. In fact, I would give this whole experience with Pizzeria Bacio 5 stars were it not for one issue: the owner. An older gentleman, who makes the most amazing pizzas, this guy was trying to convince us to have a limited menu of pasta dishes for the event, even though we had explicitly told him several times we just wanted pizza. Second strike: he called me up about two hours before the party was about to start and threatened to cancel the whole thing because we didn't want to sit outside in the rain. And strike three: the entire dinner he was giving me death stares from behind the counter...as if I had done him a disservice by packing his restaurant full of customers on a weekday. Dealing with these issues may sound trivial, but if I'm spending a ton of money on a pizza party, I feel like a friendly attitude isn't too much to ask. Lastly,just a quick plug for the food: it's out of this damn world. Simple pizza at a great price with tons of flavor. There's really something for everyone at this place. read more

I ate here tonight with some family. Didn't really have an issue with the food, but there were a few things that threw me off. Our waiter got the job done, but wasn't that nice... Hostesses were friendly. Restaurant was clean and there wasn't a very long wait to eat. Bread and oil that comes with dinner was good. Appetizer calamari was not that great - chewy and really did not have much taste. It also looked like they used the same calamari for the food, both did not include many tentacles, which made me think it was frozen pre cut (maybe I'm wrong). I had the bambino salad which I did enjoy a lot, grilled shrimp were great. All the salads were big and the rest of our for was good. This is definitely a good place for around the college, but it is more on the pricy side for what it is. I did not try the pizza but it also did look good and the pricing for it looked reasonable. O yeah...I'm guessing the old guy making the pizza was the owner... He does look grumpy! read more

"It's just so hard to find good pizza and sandwiches up here!" This is a common complaint I've had to hear from my wife for the first couple of years of our lives here in the Hudson Valley. The truth is, after her living in NYC for the 8 years prior to coming up here, and my lifelong access to good pizza growing up on Staten Island (see Denino's), we are quite spoiled. We will try new places from time to time but mainly were sticking to a few places that were "o.k" out of fear that the new place would far worse than we were already having. For the most part, we would gather opinions from locals, many of which were former residents of NYC (we figured their taste would have to be of higher standard as well!). Finally, someone came along and suggested Bacio's. We decided we might as well check it out and give it a shot... Located in an area near Vassar college chalk full of bars and restaurants, it's a great place to just park and walk around before and after dinner. We walked in during a busy time on a Friday night, and opted to sit outside where they had several tables set up. The menu is filled with any and all of your favorite Italian dishes, but we only had pizza on our minds (and obviously sandwiches). We began with the mozzarella sticks. Nothing mind blowing here, but if you've had them at other local restaurants, you would know that some taste like they just came out of the freezer from a local walmart. These, thankfully did not. For dinner, her and I had our own personal pizza's. I went with the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, and she had a regular pie plus a eggplant parm hero (figuring from the start she would take a majority of this home with her). I found the buffalo chicken pie to be quite good. As a fan of this style pizza (Wings and pizza in the best of both worlds!) it was among the best I've had both here and at home. Not overly spicy, but had a great taste and kick. As for hers... alas, satisfaction! Although not completely up to her standards, this pizza and eggplant parm hero definitely gave her some hope. The bread was actually fresh, and the eggplant done just right .Compared to other styles we've eaten here, Bacio's is absolutely a cut above Now I'm not saying that we will only come here for pizza from now on (Unfortunately its a bit more out of the way than some other local ones for convenience) its is absolutely one we will think about for dining out purposes and look forward to coming back to read more
