Wonderful small spot in Rome that served up a fabulous lunch for my family and I. It was about 13 euro a person to sample a whole lot of pizza. The chefs accommodated all the dietary restrictions in my group including a lactose allergy, and a vegetarian. The pizza was fresh and there was quite a variety. The aperol was good, espresso hit the spot and I just wish they had the tiramisu when we arrived but it wasn't made yet. Would be back for sure if I'm ever in Rome again. I discovered Pizza Zizza back in 2015 and I've been back many times over the years! It's consistently good with their sampler option. This time we got to try the Suppli as well and those were so fresh and hot, it's a must have now as well! One of top meals we had in Rome. The pizza here is fantastic and the way to do it properly is to order a the variety pizza slices. I still to this day dream about those rectangular slices of pizza. Mediocre Pizza... In Italy! The interior of the restaurant is cute, and the location is great. What knocks this place down a serious peg is the lackluster pizza and disappointing service. The waiter seemed genuinely disappointed and upset that my wife and I didn't EACH order a pizza sampler. You can judge for yourself whether or not 6 pizzas of pizza is enough to share between 2 people at lunchtime. If the pizza had tasted better, maybe the passive-aggressive service could be forgiven. Unfortunately, the pizza tasted worse than "just good" pizza in the United States. The appetizer was great. I wish we had just bought a few more appetizers! We came over to Pizza Zizza after a tour of the Vatican and we were thoroughly impressed! We really enjoyed the sunlight on a colder day and they even have little blankets if you need them. Our pizza sampler was delicious and the crust was terrific on each pizza. We got 6 different pizzas which I'll rank below in terms of how we liked them. 1. Pesto Pizza 2. White sauce with bacon / parmesan 3. Caprese salad 4. White sauce, tomato, mushrooms 5. Marinara, mozzarella, spinach 6. White sauce, tuna, tomato My wife also got some red wine she said was pretty good / average compared to what she has had in Rome. Very highly recommend stopping by Pizza Zizza. Right next to the Vatican, only a few minute walk from St. Peter's Basilica. Mixed board: Their mixed board is amazing. Their pizza crust/bottom is so crispy and crunchy, I absolutely loved it. I liked the different options as well. We ordered the 3-person mixed board and asked each variety to be cut in 4 slices, and that was more than enough for 4 people. Cant forget to mention the outstanding service! He just asked if it was our first time visiting...and when we said yes...he pretty much suggested that he brings us the sampler and that we'll love it. I never really crave it, but when it's a good pizza, I can't stop thinking about it, and pizza zizza has been on my mind since we went there last week after visiting the Vatican. The place is really tiny only enough room for about 6 people inside and maybe 10 outside. It does get packed and can have a pretty decent wait, but they also have takeout if you can't wait. We ordered the pizza sampler which had a sampling of all their pizzas. When it first can out, I was thinking, " how are we going to be able to finish this!" But after one bite I felt like maybe it wasn't enough. The bread has the perfect amount of crunch and flavor, and the different cheeses and toppings complement each other perfectly. Good pizza. I suspect the primary reason for the high score is the friendly staff behind the counter. Cheese was excellent. It was a fresh mozzarella that melted just enough but still maintained enough body on the bite. The sauce was ok. Unmemorable. Like many other Roman pies, this had too much emphasis on the robust bread, which distracted from the toppings. However, this pizza had a bit thinner crust than it's colleagues in the vicinity. Great tasting pizza store that is a tiny place but serves up great food. Minus 1 star: The only issue I had was that the owner tries to sell you on their "meat sampler" plate which is a lot of meat based pizzas and you don't get to choose. Since they choose your pizzas for you, I was not happy - I wanted more veggie type and less cheese pizzas and the owner was not happy. Maybe the owner assumes everyone is a meat eater ?? How about those that don't want huge chunks of meat and cheese on their pizzas ? Have they heard about healthy California type diners ?? Well I had to choose from their pizzas by picking 3 that were veggie types and had less cheese on them. Needless to say because I did not get a meat sampler plate, I did not get a free appetizer.
