One of top meals we had in Rome. The pizza here is fantastic and the way to do it properly is to order a the variety pizza slices. I still to this day dream about those rectangular slices of pizza. Mediocre Pizza... In Italy! The interior of the restaurant is cute, and the location is great. What knocks this place down a serious peg is the lackluster pizza and disappointing service. The waiter seemed genuinely disappointed and upset that my wife and I didn't EACH order a pizza sampler. You can judge for yourself whether or not 6 pizzas of pizza is enough to share between 2 people at lunchtime. If the pizza had tasted better, maybe the passive-aggressive service could be forgiven. Unfortunately, the pizza tasted worse than "just good" pizza in the United States. The appetizer was great. I wish we had just bought a few more appetizers! Very highly recommend stopping by Pizza Zizza. Right next to the Vatican, only a few minute walk from St. Peter's Basilica. Mixed board: Their mixed board is amazing. Their pizza crust/bottom is so crispy and crunchy, I absolutely loved it. I liked the different options as well. The place is really tiny only enough room for about 6 people inside and maybe 10 outside. It does get packed and can have a pretty decent wait, but they also have takeout if you can't wait. We ordered the pizza sampler which had a sampling of all their pizzas. When it first can out, I was thinking, " how are we going to be able to finish this!" But after one bite I felt like maybe it wasn't enough. The bread has the perfect amount of crunch and flavor, and the different cheeses and toppings complement each other perfectly. It was a fresh mozzarella that melted just enough but still maintained enough body on the bite. The sauce was ok. Unmemorable. Minus 1 star: The only issue I had was that the owner tries to sell you on their "meat sampler" plate which is a lot of meat based pizzas and you don't get to choose. Since they choose your pizzas for you, I was not happy - I wanted more veggie type and less cheese pizzas and the owner was not happy. Maybe the owner assumes everyone is a meat eater ?? How about those that don't want huge chunks of meat and cheese on their pizzas ? Have they heard about healthy California type diners ?? Well I had to choose from their pizzas by picking 3 that were veggie types and had less cheese on them. Needless to say because I did not get a meat sampler plate, I did not get a free appetizer.
