Calamari fritti--I have been Enamored for past hour, walking it all off!
Jana C.

Cibo è FANTASTICO!!!! The freshest ingredients and very perfect crispy crust here--- such a great little stroll from my hotel. Loved the sun, loved the bustle of warm city, alive with fervor! I wanted to try the Arancini too, but instead I got a few slices and an order of calamari fritti. The squid was not the lightest and crispier I have definitely had, but thumbs up for this popular corner for locals. Only about 3 bistro tables available for inside dining. Bravo PS had my second bottle of chinotto: Sicilian blood orange?

Really excellent pizza! It's a very small spot so you may or may not be able to get a table but I loved how it was a hole in the wall type of place. The pizza is so fresh tasting and did not disappoint. Also, the guy who was working the front spoke English which was helpful. They have all their pizzas pre-made in a glass case and you just pick how many slices you want of whatever flavor. I got some type of blue cheese/mushroom pizza, margherita pizza with giant pieces of mozzarella on top, and some kind of pizza with meat/creamy cheese/basil. They were all so delicious and I really could not tell you what my favorite one was. Definitely stop by here, it's about a 15 minute walk from the Coliseum and worth every step. They're very fairly priced and you get a fair amount of pizza per slice.

So delicious and perfectly priced. The crust is amazing and the owner was extremely friendly. Would be here every night if I was staying longer.

Who knew Yelp was going to work in Rome?!?!? I didn't but I am sure glad it did! This is literally a little hole in the wall pizza joint and apparently it's in a travel book also. The pizza here is sooo sooo good!!!! Might be the best pizza I had the whole time I was in Italy. We got there right when it opened and they already were cranking out delicious pizza it's so good my mouth is still watering thinking about it. We tried almost every kind they had at the time and their special pizza was AMAZING!!! It's like a 4 cheese pizza with a little kick to it! the Margarhita Pizza awesome!!! Literally all the pizza is so good. The cashier/cook/etc spoke english very well so that helped out a lot and was super nice. Recommended us drinks and the explanation was sprite but better, fanta but better and boy was he right! It is a tiny tiny spot though with maybe 6 chairs all together and no AC. It was very warm out so it made the store warm too but fear not that did not deter me from getting delicious pizza! This is a must stop as we were there and easily in 20 minutes 10 other people came because it was recommended to them or they found it on google/yelp/in a book. Come here if you can and get a few slices, take seat enjoy the scenery and take it all in while drinking sprite but better or fanta but better. You won't regret it! Enjoy!

Ham pizza, spicy salami pizza and spinach with potatoes. The paper bag has the fried anchovies.

Smallest pizza place in the world but friendly guys that are helpful and speak English. I don't eat Anchovies but I tried there fried ones here: on point! With a little fresh lemon squired on top, they are perfect. The pizzas are not too thin and not too bread-y just right. they are done squared and they will sell you the amount you want. You don't have to buy the whole thing. Great if you want to try multiple flavors. They have about 10 different pizzas to choose and when you choose they heat them up and serve them with a slight char...awesome! They have a small fridge that you can grab your own drinks from: beer, soda, bubbly water...etc. I'll be back for sure!!

The most nondescript pizzeria ever - Zizzi Pizza!

Do you have *your* local pizza joint? If I lived in Rome, Zizzi Pizza would be it. Heck, I don't even have one in Houston, and I'm already claiming allegiance. It's the smallest restaurant ever - it literally seats 12 people max, inside and outside, but you have the option to carry out, which we elected to do. Fortunately we had the nicest Roman girl help us order, and when an Italian kisses their fingers to show how good something is, I was stoked for this pizza. We ordered the Zizzi (cheese with pepper), Diavola (hot salami and olives), and Funghi (mushroom) - she kissed her fingers for the Zizzi. My favorite was the Diavola - and I don't even like olives. The salami is spicy, the sauce is spicy, just everything about it is SO. GOOD. The Zizzi was excellent, too; really, a completely different style of pizza from what I'm used to (no tomato sauce), but it was addictive with the slight spiciness to it and the glorious cheese. The mushroom was pretty typical, but you could tell they used fresh mushrooms, which is always welcomed. The pizza here is thin and crisp, but it isn't paper thin - in theory you don't really need a knife and fork to eat this Italian style, especially since the pizza doesn't really get soggy (we walked back 10 minutes to our apartment, and it was still crisp!). They cut their pizza into quarters, which is a hefty serving to eat barbarian style with your hands, but hey - you do you, right? Can't rave about Zizzi Pizza enough. Affordable, especially for European standards, and just absolutely delicious. Seriously lamenting that I can't have this at home!

Everything was so tasty. My favorites were the mushroom, speck and Brie, and the spicy salami
Jenn C.

This place has such amazing pizza and it's so affordable! Even the beer is cheap! It's only 50 cents more than a soda, so drink up! I know I ended every sentence with an exclamation mark, but it was absolutely necessary. This place is very affordable. My brother and I stumbled across this small pizzeria after checking into our hotel and had our first meal in Italy here. We were on a mission to eat as much good pizza as we possibly could and this place did not disappoint. We had spicy salami, speck and brie, margarita, garlic and salt, mushrooms and no cheese, bleu cheese and radicchio, and another slice with some kind of a ham. Every one of these slices were a dream come true. We went in before the pizzas came out of the oven so we got them very fresh. I would recommend coming early so that the pizza is not sitting out since its in a display case and not made to order. I also believe this place is cash only.

Tasting plate with beef

we were greeted nicely with fluent English and we were immediately served a tasting plate. They are also equipped for vegans and vegetarians! The tasting plate contained enough to satisfy two people. A nice red wine and the food was perfect. If you visit the Vatican, you should stop by. It is nearby and, unlike the other typical tourist shops, very tasty.

BEST PIZZA IN TOWN! we were lucky enough to find this place very close to where we were staying at. Spicy Salami was AMAZING! Great service and very friendly staff.

Run. Don't walk to this place. So tasty. So fresh. So...Rome!!! We waited about 15 minutes past the opening time for them to be ready. So worth the wait. Pizza margherita was our fave, followed by a cacio e pepe/ Quattro formaggio. Cheap. Hot. Fresh. Out of this world.

Margherita pizza (and another slice with some kind of meat - husband doesn't remember, but he said it was good)

I was craving for steak and this was the only restaurant opened early, so I went for it. The…read morerestaurant was roomy, suitable for big group with comfy booth seatings. However, I was really disappointed at the food here. -Chicken Caesar Salad 6/10 - big chunk of dry and salty chicken -Wings 7/10 - salty - Brown rice bowl with salmon and veggies 8/10 - salmon was overcooked. It was very dry that I couldn't swallow - both of the Ribeye and T-bone were impossible to eat - very rubbery and tasteless. It was supposed to come with side dish per our server. I chose French fries but it never came with my steaks. When I was able to flag down another staff to ask about it, she insisted it didn't come with side dishes and we had to pay extra.... Speaking of service, they weren't really busy but it's so hard to flag down our server when we needed something. They also forgot one of our orders ....and brought out when we already finished eating. It was such a miserable dining experience here. I'd not recommend.

T bone portions look huge. A table next to me got theirs medium (a crime) and it came undercooked…read moreso they sent it back. I ordered the filetto medium rare. The edges were a little too cooked to my liking but I left those and the rest of it wasn't chewy. Chimichurri had a nice kick to it. Glad they had GF beer too. Honestly, if you're looking for steak in a sea of pasta and seafood, it will work in a pinch... but make no mistake it's nothing amazing.

After exploring Rome, we were looking for somewhere to relax a bit and enjoy an adult beverage or…read moretwo. Open Baladin was on my list of the most popular bars in Rome on Yelp (in terms of number of reviews) and it was close to where we were at, so we made out way in the afternoon on a Friday. Ambiance (4/5): Open Baladin looks a lot different than your typical Roman establishment. Bright colors, quirky decor, and a beautiful bar area are some of the highlights here. We sat at a table as we wanted to avoid the bar stools (no back support so I've never been a fan). Service (3/5): Typical Italian service. Not terribly attentive or friendly but gets the job done. We had to track down our waiter once or twice to order a beer and close out but that's standard fare in Europe. Food (3/5): My partner in crime had a burger while I had a sandwich with proscuitto and cheese. Pretty much your typical Italian sandwich. Fresh and adequate. Though a bit overpriced. Drinks (4.5/5): This is the highlight. Open Baladin has a fantastic selection of beers including those that I would qualify outside of your typical run-of-the-mill. They have a Belgian beer section of the menu which is always an indication that a bar takes their beer seriously. And most interestingly, for me, they have grape beer . . . say what?! I had never heard of it either. Beer made with grapes, that's a first. While it's not something I would order often, I very much enjoyed trying something new and unique like this. And here I thought grapes were just used to make wine! If you're looking for a cool spot to grab a brew, with a fantastic beer list, and a different vibe than your typical Italian bar, make sure to check them out!

That being said, he wanted to try some beer bars during our time in Italy so we put a few on our agenda to check out. Open Baladin was one of these spots, and since we had some time before our dinner reservation we stopped here for some beer. Walking in, I was really impressed with the space - it's large with a combination of high tops and tables throughout the dining area. The back wall housed the bar which had bottles stacked up to the ceilings - this made for a really striking focal point. The color scheme was mostly dark woods and warm colors which fit well for being a beer bar. The menu had a large selection of beer, I decided to go with one of their holiday varieties which was quite good. They had a small food selection, and I specifically noticed they had a variety of homemade chips. These seemed like the ideal snack so I ordered some of their original variety which came with homemade ketchup. These were great - not greasy and the ketchup really made it something special. Service was good, everyone was friendly and overall we had a great experience at Open Baladin. Even if you're not the biggest beer drinker, there's enough variety to find something for most people, and the food shouldn't be overlooked.
