I ordered the drunken pizza with vodka sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, and basil ($15). They're personal pizzas, and I did feel like it was a decent size for the price. I love a vodka pizza, and while the flavor combination of this was good, the crust unfortunately was way too thin. I've had all types of thin crust pizza before, but this was so flimsy that the topping to crust ratio was off and the pizza fell apart in all of our hands. That was a bit disappointing, and I'm curious if the same is true when the food is eaten fresh at the restaurant. Generally, still a good experience, but didn't blow us away unfortunately. read more

I've been wanting to try the Pizza Vita food truck for ages and finally got it for dinner last week! The crust is perfect, not too heavy but not too thin. The vodka sauce on the Drunken pizza was so flavorful. It was definitely the favorite of the two pizzas we tried. The Tony Pepperoni could've used a little more meat and cheese, I don't know that we'd order that one again. I always walk in craving it, and after a few beers I gravitate, without much control, over to Pizza Vita for a pie that's ready in as much time as it takes me to check a few e-mails. You can choose from a short list of PV pizza staples, and they generally have a special to complement the usual menu. Honestly, I can't be pulled away from the margherita - just the right amount of cheese, very obviously homemade sauce, and a crust that is a perfect balance of crispy and chewy. I almost always get it, and it never disappoints. Cash only, pizza only, delicious only. It's a fantastic deal for $10, and you'll definitely be able to kill the whole thing. I recently went to an outside graduation party and this pizza food truck was hired. It was great, as we had access to unlimited pizza, for 2 hours. I must say, this pizza tasted great. I love brick oven pizza , it's my favorite. It was really cool to see the pizza being made outside and cooked in 90 seconds. I tried the margarita pie, meathead pie, and the pepperoni pie. My favorite was the meathead, since it had multiple toppings lol, but honestly all of them we excellent. The mozzarella cheese and sauce both worked well, on their dough, and cooked in the awesome oven in the truck. Its such a great idea to hire a pizza food truck for a party. I loved it. Went for Lunch Food - 3/5. The tartufi special was disappointing. Since one of their goals are to pop the pizzas in 90 seconds, not much roasting gets done for the toppings. The mushrooms were wet and the sausages could've used more browning. The toppings were completely uneven with half of the pie receiving 75% of the toppings and the lack of care visually impacts your meal. Crust was very average with none of the elasticity you would want in a brick oven pizza. Service - 3/5. The harborside area is visited by a lot of people who come down for lunch in the limited time they have. Being demanded to engage in small talk past a simple greeting seems pretty audacious to me when the other party has no idea what kind of situation the customer might be in. These guys were sitting out front of Pier 13 in Hoboken when I was in the mood for some food. Among the 5 or so trucks lined up in front of the pier, they were the last ones open. We tried their Tony Pepperoni, which confusingly enough has no pepperoni but instead is topped with thin slices of excellent sopressata ($10). It's a personal-size pie, nice char on the bottom of the crust, perfect thickness and doughiness for me (this is not a cracker-thin crust), just the right amount of sauce, altho ours was a little light on the mozzarella cheese. These are extremely good pies, $10 is cheap compared to some markets, but twelve bucks for the breakfast pizza seemed unnecessarily spendy. I always order the cauliflower bites as a vegetarian. Almost every time I got them they were delicious. The last two times I noticed a difference. The last time was horrible. The cauliflower were mushy and there was very little breading on them. So basically, it was just soggy customer drenched in Buffalo sauce. It's really annoying cause people work hard for their money and y'all charge $13 for cauliflower bites... I would hope the quality would match the price. Can a pizzeria housed in a small, mobile truck really serve up better pizza than most brick and mortar locations? If that truck is Pizza Vita, the answer is yes. Like most trucks, Pizza Vita's menu is compact: maybe 6 - 8 different Neapolitan-style pies, all personal-size (12"), with a variety of toppings. The crust is chewy and good, and the sauce is plentiful, with a fresh (not cooked / canned) taste. As you can see from others' photos, the pies are topped with dollops of fresh mozzarella, and the toppings are high quality and really good. I'd be happy to eat one of these at a sit-down place, and the fact that they can turn one out in just a few minutes from a truck is remarkable. Some of the other Pier 13 trucks seem to levy an unspoken 'location tax': you get either smaller portions, or higher prices, or both, than you'd expect. Not Pizza Vita: for $10-12, you get a 12" pie that's plenty filling for one, and maybe even enough for two. One of the best trucks and best deals on the pier, IMO. read more
