Stopped by to try the gluten free pizza and while there was a bit of a wait (Friday night!) the crust was the best I've ever had - it didn't feel like a "substitute" it just tasted like pizza. Called in an order the other night and it was ready and waiting within 45 minutes just like they said it would be. Lost a star as the in person orders are slower and the machine that runs credit is suuuuuuper slow. Update we have called in orders a number of times now, typically Frisay nights, and they are usually ready for pick up in about 25 minutes for 2 pizzas. Awesome to not have to wait over an hour on a busy night to grab dinner and go. read more

A 3 for nostalgia's sake. In all honesty I am just happy this place is still open, I thought it would have closed years ago!! We use to always get this pizza for anything school related... so the best part of this place was... free school sponsored lunches. But now its kind of like a cheap escort... pardon my language. But thats how it feels... minus the cheap part.... and the escort part. The pizza isn't bad at all. It is yummy, but it also isnt anything incredible. What makes me sad is that for our volleyball party we were going to eat here but then our coach... who shall remain nameless pocketed the money... can't say I don't blame him. Oh sorry nostalgia kicked in... this place is... ya know pizza and stuff that you would expect at a pizza place. Like the time ya know stuff... I don't really know how to say this but I hope you have a good reason for going here... like getting 5th place in a basketball tourney or something. I teach at Virtual Academy and run over here sometimes during my 30 minute lunch. They have a great deal on a drink, slice of pizza and salad bar for little over $6. The lettuce is always fresh and they have a bigger selection than you would expect for the price (I especially like the olives). The salad bar even includes some meats (ham, chicken). I talked to the owner on my last visit. They've been in business over 25 years - and he's still there at nearly every hour the business is open. A really great guy and a very community-oriented business that supports local teams and programs. I definitely recommend them for good food and a great place to support local business. read more

I don't really like pizza. Probably because I dislike tomato sauce. But the BD wanted an easy dinner night and I was tired of him ordering from Pizza Guys (they deliver) so I looked up Pizza Plus. Service is there but aside from a young lady who smiled at me from the back, there wasn't much. It was run but youngins' so maybe they didn't want to work. Shrugs. I ordered 2 large pizzas, one cheese and one with pepperoni. I also got garlic sticks and a cookie for around $30-$32. BD enjoyed the pizza. He liked the crust. The garlic sticks need more garlic and salt. It was more like under seasoned cheesy bread (with hardened cheese). Cookie was fall apart good though. read more

Probably one of the best pizzas in town. It's nothing terribly exciting, all your basic pizzas. But definitely quality! Go for lunch and you'll see several lunch options. One of my favorites is a slice and a trip to the salad bar. It's a pretty great salad bar, and once again you will find quality there. Love this place and will continue to return there! read more

Kinda pricey and the pizza was about a B. We had half Super Plus and half Hawaiian. Tasted fresh and the crust was good, but I would not give it the 5 or 4 stars others reviewers have. Went and ordered pizza for dinner tonight and ordered a giant 3 topping pizza to go. The young gal rang it up and then she rung up $.75 and I asked if that was the tax. She then told me the amount and I gave her a $50.00 bill and she rung it up and the register didn't tell her how much change to return.1st co worker didn't know what to do so she call over a young kid and he walked her thru to get the register to finally tell her how much change to give me back. I told them I would be outside. I asked for my receipt. Outside while waiting I looked at my receipt. It showed the pizza, then $.75 charge then $2.12 charge. When I went to pick up my order I asked why I was charged the 2 additional charges and the young man said it was the box charge. I told him when I eat here and don't finish my pizza they give me a box to take my pizza home. He then told me it was on the menu and I replied I talk to you what I want and you should post your charging $.75 for the box charge. I love this place! We eat here at least twice a month. Delicious, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside crust. Just the right amount of sauce. My favorite picks are the garlic chicken combo and the Super Plus combo. Always get the giant size- it's the best deal and you'll have leftovers for lunch the next day. Take-out orders are ready quickly. It's fun to eat in, too. We went there on the first day of school and it was packed and brimming with sweet little kids trading toys and stickers from the vending machines. Nice hometown place. read more

I happen to stop in on this place from a day trip with kids playing in the Tahoe snow all day. Kids are always picky eaters to start with. We saw a couple of pizza joints along the road heading up earlier in the day and we felt it wasn't going to be a problem feeding the troops on the way back. Sadly I was mistaken and found that the pizza places were closed??? It was a bit disappointing and we decided to wait till Elk Grove to stop off along the way back to home. As a last ditch effort we looked for pizza eateries along hwy 50 as we're coming down the road. The name Pizza Plus stood out being that we love the Ripon Pizza Plus. We decided to make a pitstop and check it out. I honestly didn't read reviews or really how far off the main hwy they were located at being that it looked like it wasn't too far. I ordered a Lg.pepperoni, Sm. Hawaiian, and Med.Rockin Combo for 9 people. The gang devoured all the pies down to one last small slice. The crust was so crispy and had the all so desirable fresh bread from the oven smell and taste. Just the right amount of fresh toppings that made for a perfect pizza pie. Everyone raved at how delicious the pizza was, and how it was worth the small detour. We have definitely found a new go to stop when next we're nearby by. The staff was very friendly which also made for an enjoyable experience. Looking forward to enjoying some pizza indoors at this place to try out other goodies on their menu. Terribly disappointed. Customer service was lacking. The did not acknowledge us for at least 4-5 minutes. There was no professional or personal greeting. The breadsticks were plain. Not even a brushing of olive oil or butter. Tables were not bussed and there were no customers besides us. Dated establishment, but it could have more appeal. The Calzone was mediocre at best. This was my first attempt at this place. The crust was OK. The cheese and toppings were not great. It tasted like cheap pizza. Each slice removed resulted in the cheese/toppings staying behind and a soggy and naked slice in my hand that was oddly cut. I ordered 2 large pizzas for my family of 5. We all chewed inquisitively and gave up on eating more after a slice each. It might be the first time I threw pizza in the trash. Not even a second thought as leftovers. We've been to all other Placerville and Cameron Park area pizza places over the years and Pizza Plus by far has the best overall pizza. Mountain Mikes is good too, but MM is ridiculously expensive even with coupons compared to most other places. The owner at Pizza Plus seems like a nice stand up kind of guy who offers positive customer service and takes care of you, even when the kids behind the counter occassionally make an honest mistake. They run coupons and honor competing coupons too, so the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is fine, clean and neat but nothing special. They could use a few more options for the salad bar, but the Pizza (terrific crust, generous toppings, good sauce) is totally worth our 50 minute round trip to pick up. High quality very good tasting pizza, fair prices and a friendly owner, will keep us going out of our way and off our beaten path to this little gem of a pizzeria. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the staff (other than the owner himself) doesn't knock my sox off as far as service with a smile goes, but hey nobody's perfect and there is always room to improve and they still make a pretty great pizza. read more
