After being gone for a year, I was craving a signature meatball sub @ pizza one, and they seriously nailed it on all counts. H/o, I decided to take a chance on some fried calamari... And honestly, no hyperbole, I can't remember having worse calamari in my life. They were so overcooked I had to check that I wasn't eating potato chips after a couple audible crunches that could be heard across the kitchen. Absolutely inedible without sauce & lemon, and you could just barely get a couple down with those sauces and a huge glup of water. Might as well have set 15 bucks on fire, wouldn't have taken as long as driving there & picking the calamari up. I wanted to give them a chance after a bad experience my parents had a month ago with an order of burgers, and I wish I took their advice. Their menu is topped with deliciousness Feom pizzas , to burgers , pastas , salad and many more . The Fat sandwiches were the only reason to order from them and they stopped making them.

I like this place. They make great pizza. It feels like they have grown organically as a business and started stepping up their marketing over the years....unfortunately I think their marketing choices are not great. From the fliers and even from the outside of the building it looks like dominos or fast food pizza, but have no fear, it's not. The pizza tastes authentic and like it was made with love, not just off an assembly line. It doesn't stop with just pizza either, they have a nice little sit-down area that is an Italian restaurant. Worst meal ever! Every item in the order was ice cold except the cannoli that melted and became soggy because they put it in with all the other hot orders being delivered that hour. The caprese panini wasn't melted at all, had no balsamic or oil on it, and the basil was brown. The white pizza had way to much ricotta and the cheese pizza was undercooked. The variety and quality of their food is what keeps my family and friends happy whenever we are really hungry and need to eat. Their eggplant parm and penne with vodka sauce are incomparable, their burgers are ample (I like the rodeo burger), they carry an exciting variety of salads, their sandwiches are always fresh and overstuffed, their pizzas are never short on toppings, their sauce is fabulous. And, the fried pickles are great! The chefs, servers and drivers at Pizza One are a well-oiled machine, and their system for keeping track of your preferences just works. Back in my old stomping grounds, I fulfilled family's request to bring back Pizza 1...when living near here, we frequently got delivery, which sometimes was quick and other times we had to call. However, it never stopped us from ordering because we had favorites dishes and didn't want to give them up. Among those dishes are the calzones (broccoli and cheddar, vegetable, scrumptious) panini's (all, esp #6) and salads. My personal is spring salad with added grilled shrimp. Family also likes a bunch of the others. The fries are not bad. Only disappointment was when they dropped the sweet potato fries which were excellent. Glad to have another meal from here! read more

Quite disappointed after last night and I think I'm done here. My House's Favorite sandwich, which used to be incredible, was really bad. It was exploding with arugula which isn't the worst thing but there was about a pound of on it that looks like a blind man tossed it on. The chicken wasn't fresh at all like it used to be in the past. Examining it closer, it didn't even look like the old chicken used to. I got it on garlic bread and even that was inadequate. Tough to believe this was the same place I RAVED about after moving to NJ and I feel bad changing my review. But there's too many other good pizza places to go. Last night's food was really poor and for me, that's really all it takes for me to not go back anymore. I have a hunch this place began going down when the new location in Wayne opened. We order delivery all the time. It's usually very good. Recently an order was incorrect and they rushed the correct item to us so no biggie. I was a huge fan of the meatball vodka parm but the last two orders I could not eat the meatballs. I tried the chicken vodka parm recently and wasn't a fan of the quality of the chicken. Well, like we need yet another pizzeria in the Wanaque/Pompton Lakes area... is how I felt when PIZZA ONE opened on Ringwood Avenue in Haskell a few years ago. Then I tried it. WOW. Great pizza! As a matter of fact, great everything. Their menu is very extensive (deep fried pickles?) and I've sampled so much there over the last year, I can say all is consistently good. Now that I said that the pizza is delicious, here is their best kept secret... Their Angus Burger at around $6. It is phenomenal. I had the "Brooklyn burger" the other day with sautéed mushrooms and swiss. Served on a hard roll with fries (at an additional $2) this may be what helped put Charlie Brown's out of business! They recently expanded a bit to accommodate some additional seating, but has a small crowded feel. Not really a place that I would consider "eating in" at. Friendly and efficient young staff/delivery guys always a pleasure. Some favorites: Sicilian Pizza Meatball Neapolitan Pizza Calzone with Pepperoni THE ANGUS BURGER One dislike: The sausage topping reminds me a bit of the one that Domino's uses. So far the only pizza I've tried here is the ham and pineapple it was pretty good. Had a meeting that ran late and no time to make dinner. West Milford is not a place where delivery reigns. We had eaten here a few months ago and tentatively asked if they would deliver, and YES!!! WAHOO! We had 2 pizzas, Dante's Favorite and Ringwood's Favorite, plus one of the best linguine in white clam sauce dishes I've had (and I've had them in Italy). For a pizza place, their sandwiches are on point!! They are healthy and very yummy! My son would house a Fat Bastard and I'd get full watching him eat it all! Lol.. They have a great selection of other items and their prices are very reasonable - you actually get bang for your buck. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars is I'm not a big fan of their pizza.. Now, I'm not saying it's disgusting or not good.. They make a good pie... But, this is North Jersey and we've got us some of the best pizza joints - and in any 5 square mile radius, you've got North of 75+ pizzeria's to choose from (see what I did there..?). I've had better and I've had worse... Just not this guy's top choice.... Their food is excellent! We have gone here close to 10 times and never had a complaint. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful. The buffalo waffle fries are delicious as well as their pizza. The bread they bring to the table is always fresh and delicious and they give you a variety. Needed delicious warm bites at the end of a wonderful but draining family wedding weekend. Called near closing time on a Sunday and drove to pixk up the order. Two different orders of boneless chicken wings were delicious, hugely generous portions, and piping hot. Bbq flsgor especially scrumptious. Gravy fries were just a great indulgence. This pizzeria is absolutely awesome! Staff is super friendly and VERY professional! Compared to other restaurants this one is on point! I have to say I do like the men who take the orders on the phone. They are just extremely professional and kind. (Other pizzerias have teenage girls on the phone taking orders and I feel they make more mistakes) It's really about learning how to treat customers on the phone, which probably comes with experience and maturity. Hands down best italian food I have tried in a while. Found this place while driving back from a hike in West Milford and it definitely is a hidden gem. Ordered just a regular pie and I had to throw in a chicken parm dinner since that is my go to when ordering from a new place. The pizza was made just right not too thin not too thick and the cheese was definitely melt in your mouth. As for the chicken parm, ABSOLUTELY DONE THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. Cheese was softly melted on top not burnt marinara sauce really good quality and the chicken cooked just right. Yea place does not disappoint and thats coming from someone who tried every pizza joint up by me in Montclair (ENZOS, PAISANOS, MR DINOS etc) and they definitely dont compare. read more

We use to order pizza from them all the time when we lived in Haskell.. We saw a groupon and decided to check it out.. ( we didnt know they expanded the biz ) use to be take out only.. They now have a dinning room.. Staff is great and friendly.. They start you off with homemade bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.. NICE TOUCH! We had fried calamari.. it was tender and fresh! Been ordering here from years, long story short, food has suffered significantly since it was ever good. When you order a chicken parmigiana, you expect to get a chicken parmigiana, when you order a BLT, ya expect to get it. Point of where I'm going with this is I ordered a cheese steak pizza. If you look up cheesteak pizzas on any reputable menu, there are descriptions of steak, peppers, onions, maybe mushrooms, American cheese (usually yellow but white is ok too), and maybe French fries for your above normal than average pizzerias, then maybe ranch dressing or whatever the establishment tries to pull off. Spoke to a manager, he goes you have to specify what you want on the pie, if not we just default and give you a cheese pie with steak ems on it. That's that, and literally the chx fingers and onions rings were trash, either old oil used to fry em or shit quality breading. We usually have no problem packing it in and eating all this food, even if it's a 5/6 out of 10. This is a 2-3 out of 10. Luigis has always and still is best pizzeria in town! SMD Pizza 1! read more

Since my original review Pizza 1 has been much more consistent in the preparation of their meal portions, specifically the Stuffed Shells meal. It's certainly easy for customers to complain and it takes a business owner that is as serious about customer service as they are success to make changes for the better. Kudos are deserved! The food is hit or miss depending on the night. The bigger issue is the delivery. I really love this place. Their service is great and their pizza is phenomenal. The owner is a very nice guy. I over heard him donating to the Anti Bully Squad. Some of his customers also over heard him talking on the phone and they also said he is a great generous guy. I ordered penne alla vodka and it was amazing. I also had their strawberry Caribbean salad and it was the same one that the restaurant Amaore in wyckoff serves for $18. And pizza one sells it for $9. Pizza one gives more cheese and more pecans. Ehhhh so we tend to order from here because it's convenient and it's right down the road from us... some items on the menu are some not so much. I personally am not a fan of their pizza or their subs or wraps today I ordered a wrap i didn't even ask for any dressing on my wrap it was just grilled chicken avocado lettuce tomatoe and mozzarella cheese. It was too soggy I couldn't even eat it. Oh well.. I ordered the buff shrimp and those were great and my son loved the pizza so thats great.
