Three stars for the store portion of the bar. I love to be able to buy one can of cider or beer to see if I will like it before committing to a 6 pack. Awesome craft beer selection but also a full bar for non beer lovers. Their food is yummy and they have specials after 2pm Thursday-Sunday! Today I had a jack and coke and their Grilled Cheese Cheddar and Bacon Sandwich while my companion had a sampling of the different craft beers. Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Beef Trust is a liquor store turned into a food truck with tables inside a building kind of establishment. The cases are still inside, tables and chairs are wood and brown, there is alcohol paraphernalia scattered on the walls with some burlesque looking photos. Noise/sound level: Inside is about medium small in size and customers will more than likely be at the bar. If you're at a table you'll hear some conversation but it will not distract your visit. Menu: Focused on roast beef sandwiches but have other things like pretzels, mac and cheese bites, Cuban sandwiches, things like bar food. Service: Bar tender acts as server, service is pretty good, friendly, warm, inviting, but ticket times for food are a little sluggish. There is an FYI on the menu the kitchen is like a food truck and to be patient. Not a problem though. Food: The rare roast beef sandwiches are large and amazing. They pile the meat on thick so half a sandwich is good enough unless you're starving. Bar: Serves beer on tap and from the cooler. There is hard liquor and wine for sale too, not sure if you can actually drink it inside. Some of the items for sale are hard to come by and personally I've never seen before. You can break up sixers and pounders to take singles which is a plus. They also get some rare beer never sold around these parts too, which is also a plus. Price: Food prices are great, $12 for a foot long roast beef sandwich packed to the gills with meat. The specialty beer might be more expensive than what you'd pay elsewhere but you're not getting most of this beer anywhere else either. Haven't purchased hard liquor or wine yet. Overall: This place is unique in that Beef Trust sells rare and hard to come by drink, along with great sandwiches. My husband and I stopped in on a rainy Saturday. The place has changed since the last time I was there. The change is for the better. They now serve food and it is good!!! Seriously good for what they have to work with for a kitchen. Pizza was excellent. So was the French dip. Beer on tap was amazing. If you are into really great craft beer without the craft beer "scene" try this place! We have been going weekly since finding it. They have a rotating draft selection and you can also pick any can or bottle beer from the coolers and enjoy them at the tables while playing different board games! They do not serve food but the Italian place next door will bring over food and it is pretty good with decent prices. The staff is really nice and knowledgeable ,always ready to recommend a beer based on your personal tastes. They have different size pours for different prices as well. There are some locals here that can get on your nerves once they have had a few too many (I.e one gross guy thinks it's funny to loudly fart or sing) but other than that the crowd normally act civilized! If you are in the area stop in! Update! Try their homemade truffle oil pizza! One of the best thin crust pizzas we have ever had! Light and crisp! read more

My original review was when this was Amazing Grapes and I gave it four stars. Now that is Beef Trust Kitchen and Bar I actually went here for dinner. It was once a liquor store with a small bar in the rear. Now it is more of a bar with a small selection of premium liquors and wines The craft beer selection is as good as ever, so I am tacking on an extra star for that. It has one of the best selections of craft beer around, with many offerings you won't find outside a place like the Shepherd and the Knucklehead. Not nearly as many taps as the Shep, but it is a very well thought out selection and one of the best in the area. If I was rating this simply on the beer selection it would have been 4 stars. But to the food. My girlfriend tried the roast beef, cheese and gravy sandwich that supposedly "put them on the map". I had the Ray's Roast Beef Press and a side of boneless chicken bites. The boneless chicken bites, served with buffalo sauce where decent but nothing special. I've had much better and much worse. But the roast beef. The fact that it was cooked "souse vide" was an attraction because we had never experienced souse vide cooking. Both of our sandwiches were filled with a tasteless glop of "roast beef". It had none of the great flavor of a good roast beef. Instead it was a slimy, mushy and stringy mound of beef that was not only tasteless, but a total mess to eat. I hope the staff is well versed in the Heimlich Maneuver because we easily could have choked on it if we weren't careful. I've heard a lot about how great the souse vide method is for meats, but perhaps it doesn't work quite as well for "roast beef". It certainly doesn't work here. We were both extremely disappointed, especially because what my girlfriend had was supposedly their signature dish. I will come back for the beer and may try some of their other sandwiches but no way would I ever eat that gross, tasteless slop of beef there again. read more

This is a perfectly chill little wine and beer spot. Back in the day, wine dominated more, but the tables have turned and now craft beers are having their heyday. They have several taps in the back bar, as well as a large refrigerated bottle section. Wines are towards the front door. You can take your wine and beer to go, or you can open them and sit down at a table with friends. The wines definitely have a markup (e.g. A $27 wine costing $50), but they don't charge a corkage fee, so it's more like paying restaurant prices for a bottle. I'm not sure how I'd feel about paying that much to take it home, but I don't mind it in a wine bar setting. Whereas they used to not serve food, they now offer some bar bites like chicken wings, tenders, thin pizza, sandwiches, etc. We grabbed a truffle pizza to munch on, and it hit the spot. When you want to go out for drinks with friends but don't want a noisy bar, this is your go-to. read more

Came for the roast beef and the Weyerbacher Dallas Sucks beer and was not dissapointed. The roast beef was melt in your mouth tender and the gravy&provolone with horseradish mayo just tied the whole thing together all on an awesome crunchy roll. Recently visited with hubby for our second time. Great selection of craft beers. Once again, our meals were great! I had the roast beef on our first visit and really enjoyed it. The woman sitting next to me was having the inside out grilled cheese. I had to order that on my second trip. Oh yes! That really hit the spot. Hubby had hot roast beef both times. I will always sing the praises of Amazing Grapes. It may look a bit unassuming from the outside, but just take a step in the door and you'll find a very relaxed, welcoming neighborhood spot. John (owner) really knows his stuff when it comes to wine, beer - and food! They have fantastic food now, and the menu is "food truck"-ish (a.k.a. delicious) with solid snacking options like pretzels and bar pies (so good). This is, as another reviewer noted, a craft beer hot spot without any of the "craft scene" pretentiousness: just good beer from craft breweries. Tap selections are consistently excellent and rotate frequently. Tap takeovers are a regular thing, and there are trivia nights now, too. Beer selection (retail) may not be as vast as some bigger stores, but I have full confidence in my purchases from Amazing Grapes because, well, John doesn't buy crappy beer. Staff is very knowledgable; we regularly ask their opinion about beers before buying, and they never steer us wrong. All in all, a great little neighborhood bar. John has really made some great changes in the last two years we've been going there, and we look forward to giving him our money for years to come. ...there's also a Sega Genesis available for customer use.
