Homemade Shepherd's Pie
Steve S.

I recently came here with my girlfriend on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded and we got a seat right away. No appetizers for us this outing. We just ordered main dishes. We had the French Dip W/ Au Jus & Shepherd's Pie. Both of these dishes were delicious. The shepherd's pie was loaded with beef, mashed potatoes, and veggies. It was awesome. The roast beef and mozzarella sandwich was just as good. I loved the au jus dipping sauce. It made the sandwich that much better. The fries were nice and crispy too. Overall, or meals tasted great and we had a great time here.

My husband sometimes drives by this restaurant located in the historic Newfoundland Public Schoolhouse building and has been wanting to try it, so we finally did after a hike at nearby Apshawa Preserve. It's a traditional Irish pub and sports bar. Everything is perfectly OK. Pretty standard/basic pub menu and beer list. Our food was fine (Grasshopper burger w/ fries & shepherd's pie) except the lobster bisque which must've had a whole salt shaker dumped in it as it was virtually inedible. Service was good and we liked the warm raisin bread rolls that were brought out for the table.

Great place! The outdoor seating is great! The menu has a lot of classic American things, and a great selection of Irish food too. One of the best balsamic dressings I had ever had! And the chicken Murphy was to die for! Good portions, too. Awesome restaurant with a perfect selection of menu items even for picky eaters :)

I think I just found my new favorite Irish pub/tavern. This place rocks! They've got cool bartenders, great French onion soup and chili con carne. Their NY Strip Steak looks great too. I could only eat so much in one visit. I will be back again to try the rest of the fantastic looking menu and mixed drinks.

My first time here, and all i can say is that this establishment is amazing. The staff, the food, and the ambience is top-notch. This place was recommended by a friend of mine and we decided to throw my husband's 50th birthday surprise dinner. We had 20 guests and Sat at one long table. The whole restaurant was in on the surprise. They all clapped and whistled when my husband walked in. So sweet! It was such a fun filled evening with great food and friends. Everyone loved their meal. I can recommend the corn beef, chicken fajitas, steak Cobb salad, shrimp scampi and the sangria was on point! They even let me bring in my own cake. Can't wait to go back!

Service was great. Burgers were good. French onion soups and delicious. The salads are very big which i love. I usually split a salad.

Yummy and exceptional fajitas

My Wife and I ordered the Fajitas. Beef and chicken. Outstanding presentation taste and quality of ingredients. The only possible topper was the service we received from Tyler. Displayed great concern, and speedy service and provided the rare quality of actually making eye contact throughout our engagement. Kudos to you my friend you are an excellent quality representation for your establishment. We on the deck and alone.

Food was absolutely amazing for all 4 of us. 0 complaints. Drinks were refilled when I had the last sip and food came out amazingly fast. Another server came to us asked if we needed anything. Very fast respectable workers. :P

If you haven't been, I'm sorry. If have, rejoice and know the chef, Skip, who happens to be my brother-in-law will enjoy his retirement after a chaotic, non-stop last month. I stopped in for lunch today with my good friend and struggled with what my last meal should be. I opted for the Chicken pot pie and corn fritter. It was light, flaky and delicious. The corn fritter came with maple syrup and brought me great joy. My friend went with the pork Milanese which was huge! It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. She definitely will be having a second meal from that pork cutlet. She also ordered a Reuben to take home for her hubby. Sorry, no photos of the sandwich. The service is always top notch and the drinks free flowing. Stop in if you can. But know the wait will be lengthy but worth it.

Nice bar, and good selection for wines and beer. Parking is street parking mostly and they have couple of parking spots to the side of the restaurant. Genuine hospitality that welcomes you like they've known you forever. You are going to ask why you haven't been here many times before after you visit. Everything is of quality and fresh. The menu is concentrated offering a nice balance of traditional items and Irish dishes. The Potato and Leek Soup is made very well with such a clean smooth broth and plenty of potato and leek present in the soup. Try the Cajun Chicken and Sausage gumbo was a nice option offering Big pieces of Chicken and Andouille Sausage. Nice kick but not overwhelming. Clams or Mussels appetizers are on point and worth sharing with the table. The Corned Beef and Cabbage dish was amazing and definitely NOT bland! Lean Corned Beef and fresh hand cut veggies make this a must have! The NY Strip, is tender, cooked perfectly and recommend having the whiskey sauce over the top! For $38.95 it is a bargain! Highly recommended as it literally checks every box for me. Will definitely return!

Light and refreshing! The guys all got Guinness-because it's the right thing to do at a pub. I recommended the Guinness Beef stew to my friend and he was delighted. He said it was so tender and delicious. He didn't leave a single drop on the plate. I loved the stew but wanted to venture out and got the crab stuffed flounder. It was the right amount of fish with a light buttery sauce and perfectly cooked veggies. I almost always take food home but it was portioned so well that only left some rice. The server said his mom's favorite was the Gaelic Chicken so one friend who isn't always adventurous tried it and loved it. Ironically he lives in the area and had not been here before but now plans to come more often be use of the great vibes and two bars. My other friend got the Rueben with fries and Thoroughly enjoyed it. She said it was tender and the meat seasoned well. My husband ordered the shepherds pie and said it was even better than his own. It is made with beef (not lamb) and delicious! We couldn't leave without having the banoffee and bread pudding. They brewed fresh coffee for us and we sat and chatted and life and the awesome food we had.

Next time. I got the pulled pork Sandwhich, it was perfect all around and delicious. The fries were PERFECT!! Crispy and fresh. My girlfriend got the stir fry, the vegetables were perfectly seasoned but the chicken could use some flavor in itself. I was told it's a bit bland like the potato. Overall, 4 stars, our server was attentive, friendly and patient with us. The food was great, no major complaints at all. I took the star off just because the cocktail wasn't very good, the base of the food we ate could use some more seasoning and flavor in the (potato and chicken). Also side suggestion would be to make a few playlists, I felt like the music was all over the place and definitely can set the mood when hanging out. Definitely would love to return, worth the stop 100%

We opted for the bar side, which is all high top seating. Our server Katie was great. We started off with some draft beers while reviewing their menus. Then started with an order of their tots to start. They were a little bit large not as oversized as I thought and only came with 7 to an order. They are stuffed with bacon and chives, and come with a delicious chipotle dipping sauce. For main courses we ordered the flatiron steak sandwich and the fish n chips. The fish n chips is always a gamble but here it did not disappoint. The fish was not greasy and cooked thoroughly with a crisp batter, yet the fish inside remained delicate and flavorful. The fries were also perfectly seasoned and crisp. The flatiron steak was pretty good as well I opted for mozzarella cheese because I am not a Brie person. The steak has a nice rosemary kick and horseradish aioli on it as well. The sweet potato waffles fries are a must as they are crunchy and thin but perfectly salted. It's my daughter's go to favorite for this place and I know she will be happy to have some of my leftovers since the portion is so huge. Hubby liked dipping his fries in the sauce (as did I). Such a joyful meal! I highly recommend it! He got a coffee and we split a piece of cheesecake. It was a large plate for a small piece. It may not have been too small, but perhaps some Whipped cream or a smaller plate to appease the eye. The service is fantastic! We sat and had menus right away, whenever we finished a drink or food. The decor is cute..I miss the dim light and warm / dark woods and colors that you expect in an Irish pub. I met the owner on the first visit and she is very nice and I wish her great luck..but the kids who work there have very little passion or personality unfortunately. This really is a nice little place and I hope it succeeds..but it has a few up hill issues..first is its smack in the center of many already establishment great restaurants the other big one is this: 75% of people who live up here moved from Southern Westchester or the Bronx..what does that mean? ..it means we all grew up on Rorys!!! And that is what we are seeking up here. Anyway, nice little place for a comfort meal if you are tired of Good Chinese or Italian. Enjoy!
