Stopped in on a Monday night for dinner with friends and this spot is a hidden gem in Oakland. There is both a bar side and a restaurant side for seating. We opted for the bar side, which is all high top seating. Our server Katie was great. We started off with some draft beers while reviewing their menus. Then started with an order of their tots to start. They were a little bit large not as oversized as I thought and only came with 7 to an order. They are stuffed with bacon and chives, and come with a delicious chipotle dipping sauce. For main courses we ordered the flatiron steak sandwich and the fish n chips. The fish n chips is always a gamble but here it did not disappoint. The fish was not greasy and cooked thoroughly with a crisp batter, yet the fish inside remained delicate and flavorful. The fries were also perfectly seasoned and crisp. The flatiron steak was pretty good as well I opted for mozzarella cheese because I am not a Brie person. The steak has a nice rosemary kick and horseradish aioli on it as well. The sweet potato waffles fries are a must as they are crunchy and thin but perfectly salted. Pricing here is also very reasonable as well. There is ample parking as they have their own lot but the shopping center lot. read more

Stopped for lunch at Doc Watson's in Oakland, NJ and had a great experience. Service was friendly and quick. We started with the chili, which came with crispy tortilla chips and hit the spot. We ordered two spicy chicken sandwiches. Both had a breaded chicken breast, pepper jack cheese, frizzled onions, and chipotle mayo. One came with bacon and maple fries, the other with regular fries. Heard good things about this place so decided to check it out. Order the Harvest Margarita that was supposed to come with a brown sugar rim, cinnamon stick, Casamigos, apple cider and lemon juice. The drink came 2/3 full. It only tasted like tequila and lemon juice. It was missing the cinnamon stick, the brown sugar rim and the apple cider. The waiter said the bartender was old school, but if you're gonna have specials on the menu, then at least be able to make those. My husband had an old fashion that was okay but also very very small once you took out the ice and oranges. Not a place to get drinks unless you want small over priced ones. We ordered the steak sandwich which was delicious and the spicy crispy chicken sandwich, which was nothing great. There was no spice. We got a side of rice and a side of curry sauce ($3 just for the sauce). The cup of curry sauce was the size of a side of ketchup (kinda small). Despite the terrible drinks the server was super nice and very apologetic. read more

Just had a 40th birthday at their Oakland location and everything was awesome. Food was good all our guests had nothing but good things to say. We did platters of sliders, potato kegs, veggie platter and chips and guacamole. It was all great for some apps and drinks. The service was on point. We had one attendant for our event and she was a rockstar. She handled everyone's drinks and keep checking in on me to make sure everything was good and I had a drink in hand. Great spot stopped in earlier for lunch and I'm so Thankful we did...Food is Delicious and everything about the place is Fantastic! My boyfriend and I came here after work to give this place a try. Not only was their staff friendly, but the food was delicious and portions are very generous. Awesome atmosphere and great drinks. For an appetizer we got a plate of Sweet Thai Chili Sauce wings and a plate of their Buffalo wings. Both delicious.... Crispy and moist !!! For our entrees we had: The D.W. Burger topped with mushrooms Swiss, Bourbon BBQ Sauce and beer battered onion rings, The Doc Burger topped with frizzled onions, blue cheese, bacon and a fried egg, Salmon special, The Reuben, The Grilled NY Strip Steak sandwich topped with Caramelized onions, Brie and Horseradish aioli, Shepherds Pie and Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich topped with a fried egg. My wife and I lived right around the corner from the NYC location for years and were pleasantly surprised when we heard they were opening in Northern NJ. Visited the new location this evening and I must say it was great all around. Clean and very comfortable atmosphere with a nice menu (which I believe is actually expanding). Started with the nachos which were excellent and made with homemade chips followed by the wings and cheesesteak sliders. OK, I went back. Ordered a corned beef sandwich. The worst corned beef sandwich I ever had. Rye bread was borderline stale, corned beef was pretty fatty and tough. It was like 1/2 inch thick. An Irish Pub is supposed to have fresh rye bread stacked high with steamy tender corned beef. This sandwich is not. Last time, I am done and I only live 3 min away. read more

We ordered simple cheeseburgers and they were good. They weren't great when I walked into the dining room room in the back and that was pretty much empty. It was like two different worlds.
