If you like canned mushrooms, you'll love this pizza. The crust was hard but the toppings were only about half-cooked. Don't understand why this place gets high marks except that the locals who eat here don't get out much. Papa Johns, Pizza Hut and Dominos are all much better. Or, save money and get a fresh made pizza from Walmart or Sams and cook it yourself to your liking. Gave one star because zero was not an option. read more

Like many, I've grown up eating at this place and can remember the old building. While I've never been sold on the fact that it's the best pizza on earth, it is good. This is the only place I ever order pepperoni pizza- I like how they cut the pepperoni's thick. So the wife and I were getting away from it all over the long 4th of July weekend. We decided to stay off the main highway and go the less traveled route. We were starting to get hungry and pulled up Yelp to see what was good in the area and came across Pizza King. We were there on July 1st probably between 5 and 6p.m. In reading the reviews we knew that the service was going to be slow and Yelp was not wrong. The service was great and the waitress was very attentive, but it takes a long time for the food to come out. We ordered two salads to start with and a pizza for dinner. I also ordered a beer, I think it was a Ziegenbock, and it showed up with the salads. At first I was going to complain about the tiny little beer glass but noticed on the menu that the glass of beer is only $2.25. It was probably around an 8 oz glass so two of them would be 16oz at $4.50 and that is cheaper than most places sell beer. It we finished our salads and waited on the Pizza when it did come out it was great. We ordered a pizza with all the meats and added mushrooms and onions. We ate until we could eat no more and loved every bite. We then ordered an old fashion Root Beer Float to share. All and all I would say that we loved everything we had. The reasons for not being a 5 star visit was the time it took to get a pizza and the teenage hostess. We spent well over an hour there from the time we arrived including our 5 to 10 minute wait for a table. My parents have owned a pizza place in the past and we have helped them many times and I can't say that it ever took over an hour to get a pizza to a table. One person was told that there was about a 30 minute wait and he said fine and then put in his pizza order. He told them to put the order in right now so they would have to wait less once they got to the table. So he probably got to the table and only had to wait about 15 minutes because he gave them a 30 minute head start. I guess that trick is only learned if you are a local and go there often. I wish I had known that because we could have called in our order while driving into town. The hostess we found it to be good for a laugh but not for a good reason. There was always a line of customers waiting for a table. When a table would come open she would come out from around the register and call out the name. When the people would show up instead of taking them to the table she would point at the table and just say. "It's that table right there." At one time she actually pointed to the back corner of the dining room and said "It's back in the corner over there, you won't be able to miss it." I consider not actually taking the time to bring them to the table as a sign of disrespect. I could understand when it is the first table or booth in the restaurant and you are only 3 feet away from it, but when it is in the furthest corner... Come on... Do your job, show a little respect and walk them to the table. We will be back and I am sure that we will enjoy what we have. But we will never go there when we are in a rush. read more

I grew up on this pizza. It is not the best in the world, but it is great and it is unique. It's got a great taste. And I don't know where they get the pepperoni, but it is the best I've ever had. They are smaller and spicier. I always get the Bud's Special, which has all the meats. I'm disappointed they put it on the menu. It used to be kind of a secret order for regulars. The best thing about Pizza King is the price. I normally get a medium pizza, a salad (and be sure you get the house/garlic salad dressing... it is the best!), and a drink and it's less than $10. Their spaghetti dinner is great too. The downside is that they are SLOW. Be prepared to wait awhile after you order. And the service isn't always great. The servers can be a little curt. But the food and price will make you forget all of that. read more

I really enjoy dipping my crust in the house dressing, it's so good! The last couple of time I have dined in the dining room has been a bit messy and service a bit lacking. Pizza King has been a staple in Longview for as long as I have been alive, plus several more decades. The Pizzas are unbelievably good and a great value. This isn't your greasy, flavorless Pizza Hut type pizza. These pizzas are piled with toppings that are fresh and wonderful. Try the King's Delight. Did I say value? You really can't beat it. Two people can go to Pizza King, share a pitcher of beer and split a medium pizza and come out spending less than $15. The atmosphere is 50s diner. It is also a fun place to bring kids. read more

This place has been around for awhile, my parents told me stories about how they came here when they were younger, so they've got to know how to make good food if they've been in the business that long. The place has a great atmosphere, nice laid back feel to it and very family friendly. I personally like to get my pizza to go though, you have to try getting it to go and letting it "steam" in the box on the way home. I have heard that Pizza King had some of the best pizza in East Texas, and I was very excited to hear they had a gluten free crust. The pizza was fine. I got the pepperoni pizza which tasted pretty good. The crust was pretty good, the sauce was good, and the topping were fine. The original price was around 5.00, but with the gluten free crust it was 9.00. The service was TERRIBLE! It took about 15 minutes for us to get a table, because the servers were not cleaning them. We ordered our food, and it took over an hour for us to get pizzas. Our waitress was eating either gum or pizza, and would avoid our table. She did not stop and let us know how long we had to wait. She did not ask us if we needed anything. She glanced at our table and did not help us. I had to ask other waiters for napkins, straws, and help. I may come back if I order the pizza 2 hours in advance. I expected so much more from this restaurant. read more

Pizza King has been around forever and the reason is they make a great pizza!. I have eaten pizza there after football games as a kid and now as an adult I still love their pizza, subs and the salad with house dressing. This has always been the place to go after football games on Friday night or when our family comes in to town we like to go as they want Pizza King. The atmosphere is family friendly and they always serve me with a smile. I know they support the youth in area by supporting different youth teams and giving them jobs when the get older which I love that. They support our community and in return we will support them and get good food at the same time. There is nothing like a pizza from Pizza King and their ice cold draft beer after a day of playing softball, soccer, riding horses, motorcycles or being at the lake. (I am sure you get my point. ha) I will always love this place and the family who runs it. They do have long wait times on weekends especially, but it's because it is so good people will wait!
