Pizza is fair .... oven baked (low sulfur coal should be used) - AP or bread flour dough for crust (Double OO flour should be used) - quality of toppings fair at best ( bought pre cooked, not prepared on site ). I've been a faithful patron of Pizza King for over 30 years. I knew that it got new owners a while back but for the most part things were pretty much unchanged, until now. The pizza I got tonight was NOTHING like the pizza I thought I would get. The crust was different and so were the toppings. This was a Pizza King pizza in name only!!! I've had frozen pizzas at my house that were better than this!!! It breaks my heart but I will NEVER darken the doorway of PK again. For decades PK has been a place we gathered as friends and/or family to celebrate an occasion or just meet up, but sadly that's no longer an option. Pizza King's "KINGS DELIGHT" toppings are the best(LAYERS OF TOPPINGS) Its like calling a pizza fast food chain and asking for extra extra extra extra toppings.(and still it will not be any comparison to pizza king) FYI if you are in hurry to eat, call ahead! Seriously good pizza. Friendly kids working there. A family place. No coupons or specials but decent prices. I don't eat alot of pizza but I do make it at home for my family sometimes and I can tell you that Pizza King uses really good ingredients. The secret to the sauce has to be alot of bell pepper and salt. The crust is excellent. I am always impressed with the food. The only negatives are that it is closed on Monday and can be very slow. There is a trick to getting pizza quicker, though; you call ahead and give your name when you sit down. They cook the pizza partially when you order it and just finish the cooking when you are seated. Anyone wondering whether this place is good just needs to consider how many other pizza places there are locally and then take a look at Pizza King's parking lot. Pizza King is by far one of the best local eateries in Longview, Texas. For decades Longview has made this one its favorites. The pizza is delicious and very different compared to other pizza places you will find. They tend to pile on the toppings and the crispy crust is excellent. The "Loaded Everything" is my personal favorite. Be prepared to wait to be seated during busy times of the day and service has never been fast, so plan to have some good conversation before the pies roll out. The décor is a 50's sort of style and they display some interesting items mostly related to dolls and cars. I miss the old store which sat just next to the new building. The old store was an icon of highway 80 during the pre Loop 281 days. If you are in town, don't miss this place. read more

This place is obviously very popular in Longview, TX. We were trying to order a good pizza to go on our way to Dallas, Tx from a day spent at Caddo Lake, but not in this restaurant. Totally packed, total disregard for CDC health and safety measures. It looked just like a normal, no COVID-19 at all night. We didn't see customers going in or out wearing masks at all. No thank you. Would not take any chances going in there to eat or order pizza to go. That is not a way to stop the spread and infection of this terrible virus that which has taken over 300000 lives in this country alone. We are currently in the worst arising of the virus in Texas and the whole country. We just couldn't understand the lack of responsibility in playing a role in preventing the spread of it on this restaurant. This is by no means trying to refrain people from eating at this place or saying their food is not good. On the contrary, it must be good to the point that inhabitants of Longview are willing to risk catching the virus than not enjoying their famous pizza. We ourselves were dissapointed. It took a very long time to get our food. My soda tasted bad. Possibly too much carbonation? This is the first restaurant in longview that we have ever experienced a wait, so we knew it had to be good. It's kind of confusing walking in- there are people everywhere. Some are waiting on a table, some are waiting on to go orders. Be sure to go around the corner and get your name on a list for dining in. If it's not busy, it's seat yourself. The menus are on the table. Essentially you can get any size pizza, any toppings, for cheap! The small pizza with two toppings is $5.40, and isn't small either! I usually cannot finish the whole thing. My husband orders a medium and leaves miserably full every time. The pepperoni is my favorite topping, it's wayyy better than any Hormel iteration. I skip on mushrooms-they're obviously canned. If you don't see a topping combination on the menu, just ask. We usually start with salads for $2 and some change. Pro tip: you'll want to save the house dressing to dip your pizza in too. It's essentially ranch dressing with tons of garlic. It's way delicious. The pizzas take a LONG time to come out, know that up front. Nothing fancy here-paper thin plates and styrofoam cups. The pizza is the real winner. It's certainly different from any pizza you have ever had before. The crust is extremely thin, but does not get soggy whatsoever. It's almost like eating pizza on a cracker? The crust isn't seasoned at all, so you barely taste it, either. It's essentially a sauce/cheese/topping vehicle. I've been coming here since they were in the old building and I was a toddler. I LOVE it. This place is the standard to which I hold all other pizza. Thin crackery crust, a little tiny bit dark, tart thick pizza sauce. None of that sweet "marinara" sauce here, no; and I wouldn't have it any other way. Loads of toppings on every slice, cold beer if you want, icy drinks in foam cups if you don't. Salads with house dressing, yum! Pasta is pretty good too, but I come for the pizza (faves are pepperoni with double green olives or sausage and onion) and the submarine sandwiches. Pro tip, get the onions. Bonus points for cool decor. I moved from Longview to Tucson, Arizona and when I come back to visit, Pizza King is usually my first stop for food. Have lived in the Longview area for 20 years. Have passed this numerous times and never stopped in. Today I made a point of stopping in. Glad I did. Best pizza I've had in years. Love the crispy crust, like a cracker. Sauce is excellent. Has a bit of spice to it. Cheese excellent too. A lot of pizzas are full of grease. Not this one. I'd give 6 stars if able. Not impressed. One star awarded for cleanliness. I ate lunch here today for the first time. This is a Longview icon, so I wanted to try it out. There isn't a sign to let customers know that there are waitstaff in the dining room. There are, however, other signs to advise not to park in the fire lane and that extra dressing is not free. I ordered my food at the takeout counter by mistake. There weren't many people in the restaurant, but the people there all appeared to be regulars. The servers catered to their regular customers, totally ignoring a new customer. And I told them I was new! I was not made to feel welcome at all. The server FINALLLY brought my spaghetti and bread. About 5 minutes later, she remembered the salad and brought it. The spaghetti was overlooked (mushy). Think canned spaghetti texture. There was a lot of meat sauce that looked as if it were just dumped on top of the spaghetti. The taste was bland and not improved by adding salt. The salad was cold, crisp, and fresh. I ordered their special house dressing, but honestly don't know, why its special. Had a bland mayo type consistently. Not as flavorful as ranch. The garlic bread was good, but nothing spectacular. It takes at least 30 minutes to make a pizza so be sure to call ahead. That's what it appeared most customers did. I will not likely to be back. I just got a large pizza half all veggie half cheese and instead of making me a fresh pizza they took an old pepperoni pizza they had laying around took the pepperoni off and just dumped vegetables on one side and added a little cheese to cover up where the pepperoni had been on the cheese side.
