So my wife grew-up loving the hamburger pizza from Pizza Inn. I just don't get it. We always see the same lady at this location, says she has worked for Pizza Inn since the mid-eighties. She was very helpful in recommending a chicken pizza, I had half with chicken Alfredo, half buffalo chicken. The crust is good, pizzas also good. We were also offered some dessert pizza samples. This location has a good buffet, including salad and pasta. As good as Pizza Hut and Shakey's back in the day? Not bad, stop by with the family! read more

This review if for the Pizza Inn on Magnum and Hempstead Hwy near the old Northwest mall. I saw this old Pizza Inn commercial from the 80s on YouTube of the Von Erich brothers (professional rasslers') eating at a Pizza Inn. What a weird, random thing to pop up. Maybe the social media algorithm thinks I'm really weird. It worked. Sure as ship, I watched Iron Claw (the biopic movie about the Von Erichs), and my fat butt waddled into this old Pizza Hut. I couldn't believe it still exists. I whistled that Elton John song, "I'm Still Standing" as I went inside. All the delusions I had were crushed. In the back of my mind, I knew Pizza Inn was a poor man's version of Pizza Hut. Both are long gone. Pizza Hut.... Delicious.... Pizza and sandwiches.... Tabletop Ms Pac-Man.... Cold beer.... Juke box. Reality check was on the door. A note apologizing for being short on supplies and staff. Two slices of old meat lovers pizza and three slices of some poorly-chosen combo of mushrooms, pineapple, pepperoni. Only a serial killer would eat that. The salad bar looked pathetic. Cheesy bread and spaghetti made me sick just looking at it. A really nice lady asked me if there's anything I'd like. "Umm, how about a pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza?" She smiled and said they would make one. She comes back ten minutes later and gives me 6 slices. Very nice of her (I think). It was the worst pizza I've had in years. Another nice lady comes up to me and gives me four more of a different pizza with the same toppings. I couldn't eat any of it. I drank my tea (gross). Got up and paid my tab. Customer service is top-notch!! Buffet is a great value! The salad bar lettuce was fresh and crisp, with plenty of toppings and the good ranch (iykyk). Hot pizza of every variety continually came to the buffet, along with a hot area of veggies and a delicious Stromboli. The server even asked if we had a request for anything special. There were several dessert options, including fruit and puddings, but we only had room for the warm, gooey cinnamon rolls. This is not the best "Pizza Inn" the world.... not by a long shot. So I have to be honest and tell you that despite Houston having bad pizza and Texas having bad Pizza, this is probably the worst I've eaten in Houston, and yes even worse than the likes of Little Caesars, Papa John's and so on. It was basically just frozen pizza, like the cardboard kind, and that sugary tomato sauce was icky AF, and bad all round. It wasn't worth a cent of the measly dollar that I paid for it. The reason I gave it a mediocre rating is because we all know Houston has mostly terrible pizza. And the fact that it's a dollar for a slice it's basically a steal, so unlike some of the awful $7 to $10 choices, we're talking about some of the cheapest pizza in Tejas. However, I had to take one more star off unfortunately, because the woman that was working here was extremely unfriendly. Acted really annoyed that I was here and that I was buying pizza from them. I found that to be disappointing because I never tried this place before and it could have at least got them up to the three stars that I would have given them otherwise. Went here on December 10 to get a buffet to-go. Took my sis in law because their buffet and service "use to be good". Walked in and told the black lady cashier we wanted two to-go buffets. She gives us two boxes and we walk to the buffet. The buffet was partially empty because it was lunch time and there were customers sitting down eating. So I don't see anything in the buffet I want. It was thin crust pepperoni and thin crust beef, but I didn't want those. I did mention to the lady attending the buffet that I wanted Supreme pizza. My preference is thick crust Supreme. I've gotten it before on the to-go buffet, so I was just waiting around for more options to come out. After sitting for about 10-12 minutes, I asked the lady again for Supreme pizza. She didn't really say anything about letting the kitchen know, so I was like I'll wait for another 10 minutes. I waited for 7 minutes or so then I got up and went to the cashier and mentioned the supreme pizza I wanted. This uncouth lady got an attitude with me for NO reason whatsoever. I guess she was irritated because I was sitting around waiting for a particular pizza, IDK. She kept saying the buffet was GRAB AND GO. There are no rules listed at or near the buffet that states the buffet was GRAB AND GO. Doesn't say it at or near the cashier either. I think this mean old witch was just making up rules. Because let's say that IS the actual rule, what if it's something you don't want on the buffet. Like let's say you don't like veggies, and that's all there is on the buffet, are you still supposed to GRAB AND GO? I didn't argue with this witch, I just looked at her like she was crazy and told my sis in law to pay for her buffet. I gave my box back and left. I'm not about to stoop to this bitter old witch's level. Definitely not about to waste my time arguing over a $10 buffet! Not worth my energy. Mind you, I drove from Tomball to this location on Mangum. Do you know how many pizza places I passed and paid a toll to get here? I got in my truck and went to Cabo Bob's in Willowbrook. The options on the buffet were limited to a salad bar, 9 pizzas (4 options), a Stromboli, overly-dry pasta bar, and 3 dessert options (all with cinnamon, a major allergen for some). The pizza was average buffet pizza but was overly drenched in sauce, causing it to be soggy. The salad bar options were good for the price of the buffet. Hadn't been to Pizza Inn in probably 40 years. They have a pretty decent buffet with salads, pizza and desserts.

We love pizza inn. Sadly we'd not been much due to covid. We'd also gotten food takeout and eaten in the parking lot. We are from s w Houston. We'd never ventured behind the cashier but you can see a patio as you pay. I inquired. As I was paying for my takeout. My luck. I was talking to the owner. I asked if we could dine on patio, we have a small dog. He said he'd never had such a request. He considered it right away. I returned to my car to wait for the food. In that time, he informed his mgr. I was so delighted. We are here now. And we are so pleased. Great meal, pizza buffet, pasta, salad, good selections salad and fresh,, dessert, and especially patio dining with the dog. Thank you so much. Now we can frequent more. I'll be honest with you...if you like Golden Corral you'll like this place. If not, the great reviews may get your hopes up. The business is good for the neighborhood, as the $10 lunch buffet is a good value with the salad bar, pizza, and pasta/sides plus dessert. I don't know if drink is included since I got water and they didn't tell me either way. Only problem is that you need to pay tip for wait staff so it's not only $10. The wait staff is really friendly and seems to know their regulars. Also, the pizza really isn't very good quality and often cold. They do pan and thin crust. They do custom orders so it's fresh and hot, so I recommend that. Toppings are not fancy and just your normal ones. I think it's about the same quality as CiCis but ends up costing twice as much. My god! This place is so underrated. We just got the thin crust as a quick afternoon snack at the office. Medium thin crust for 5.99 such a good deal! The pizza is very good. Full of flavor. I used to go to the buffet back in the day and that was always good as well. Fresh pizza. The desserts are good too! Def not the healthiest choice but for a quick snack I'll take it. honestly we've gotten there fairly late, so we were expecting less effort for the end of the day crowd. We came in around 7:50 and were greeted by a welcoming hostess. She informed us politely that their buffet was getting ready to be cleaned up, Luckily we had our hearts set on ordering our own pizzas so we didn't get a chance to explore that part as much. At this time the dining room was rather quiet and dark with only two other tables being used. There was only one waitress taking our orders, she was very sweet and she checked on us and the other two tables often. Our waitress was patient while we made our order; we ended up ordering their XXL New York pizza, cheddar bacon ham pan pizza and a salad bar salad. The salad bar was clean with fairly fresh looking vegetables. The salad tasted delicious! It took about 15 minutes for our pizzas to come out and they were piping hot! The cheese was also melty enough to make strings for a while! Again, we were checked on regularly by our waitress. Her tone was genuine and not perceived as impatient as one would expect from a closed restaurant, in fact she even started up a conversation with us as we wrapped up our meal. I'd say, a true test of a restaurant's service is when you approach them at the end of a day, and for this restaurant, they definitely have passed! Our go to pizza place. I choose Pizza Inn for my birthday meals. Staff is friendly and though we only go once a month, they remember us with a smile and kind word. I'm a thin, crispy crust pizza lover. Fresh pizza here is always stand straight crispy. They will always come for a special order so it's not necessary to eat what's on the buffet table though theres a good selection of different toppings and crusts available. I advise you to go at higher traffic times if, like me, you like to eat a variety of toppings. As noted above, you can always get a pie made to order. At slower times, the selection is not as good and often gets cold. I like pizza. I order it at union kitchen, Carrabas, have tried at Plonk, and is often a go to choice at some of the "new American" restaurants that pop up around here frequently and often at Italian places.
