My first time going to Flambee and to say the least the experience was fantastic! I had the French onion soup to start with for the appetizer and I haven't had many French onion soup in my lifetime but this had to be the best I had in town for sure. The atmosphere was great and super chill along with friendly servers. Our entree was the Flamburger Etoufee which I think was part of the 6$ chef creation for the week. UPDATE- I've been back to Flambée Café again recently to give it another chance and realized that perhaps I'd set my expectations a bit high. Honestly, the food this time wasn't bad. I would probably eat here again. Will it become my new favorite? No. But now I realize this is just meant to be what the name says: a café. And as such, you can't expect the same level of food you'd get at a fancy French restaurant like Maison Lacour. So if you have the slightest interest in "Frenchy" kinds of foods, then give this place a try. Original review: As a lover of all things French, I fully expected to fall in love with Flambée Café, but unfortunately I found it pretty meh. Everything on the menu sounded so good, but in execution, the flavors were mostly just ok. The Smores dessert was especially disappointing. I can never pronounce anything on the menu except the drinks, so I end up drinking until I have the courage to attempt to order. The salmon flambee (peche, like Joe Pesci from the 1992 favorite, "My Cousin Vinny", the film praised by legal experts for its the accurate depiction of courtroom procedure and trial strategy?) is great, but I am not sure why they add so much arugala on top of it. I always end up with a really sad salad at the end of my meal. The soup here is a perfect way to warm up during these cold days. The French Onion in particular was fabulously savory. The drinks and cocktails I've tried are good, but they are going to need to be a bit more creative to keep up with Bistro Byronz $3 happy hour drinks. Decided to stop here with my husband on a Sunday after church. The service was really great and accommodating. It was quite chilly in the restaurant for my own liking. The meatball appetizer was super cheesy and flavorful. Recommend. The flamburger was definitely a mouthful, but beware of the uncooked dough (because of how it's made) in case you're not supposed to have it. I didn't realize that and I had to switch plates with my husband. The shrimp alfredo was okay. Nothing spectacular, just a solid go-to entree. When I return I'll definitely want to try a pizza. I loved this place! We stopped here on a whim one Wednesday afternoon while in town shopping. My hubs knows I love pizza, and we are always on the lookout for something "different". We started off with the fried Brie bites for an app - highly recommend. Our server brought us some honey in addition to the fig sauce it comes with - highly recommend. My husband and I each had our own pizzas (I'm a veggie and he is not), both were SO YUMMY! We always enjoyed our Friday nights at Pizza Byronz, especially the friendly customers and the exceptional staff but we think reducing Happy Hour has just taken all the fun out of it. The two words that should have warned me off were French Pizza. However being an idiot, I gave it a whirl. What I got was one of the most expensive, most tasteless pizzas I've ever experienced calledThe Butcher's Block. The salt flavor was overwhelming the cheese tasted fake and the crust was mushy. Add to that a chocolate cake parfait which literally was a brownie, chocolate sauce, and ice cream all divided in separate to go containers. With no silverware. Who does a to go order with no silverware and then doesn't even ask the customer if they want any. I wound up in my hotel room eating it with a knife bc that is the only utensil to be found. I mention this to one of my colleagues in the morning who lives here and he said yeah we've been there a couple times it's not that great. I agree. read more

I love the vibes of Flambee! It's a cute little place with nice outdoor seating. We were helped immediately. Our food came out super quick. I wanted to try the wings appetizer. I am so glad I did! The wings were very tasty and cooked just the way we like them. Crispy but tender. The sauce is on the side, which is a major plus! We also got the meatballs. I have frequented Flambee on several occasions so far. The first was restaurant week around when they first opened and it was practically love at first bite. After that my relationship with Flambee has been on and off therefore I've been holding back on reviewing this place. The service varies sooo much as well as the food. Expectations were definitely lowered. :( The food will taste better on some occasions than others. For example the peché tasted really sour and the dough was over cooked one night I went, but my friend literally went the next day and said it was seasoned well AND it looked much more beautiful than what I've gotten. I ordered the Salm I Am tartine on another visit and it was great in terms of flavor. My favorite pots-au-feu is the spaetzel avec and as for my boyfriend, he literally gets coq au vin blanc every single visit (it kinda hurts my soul)... sooo you can't go wrong with that either! Overall I love coming here because the ambiance is very casual, intimate (because of the low noise level--most of the time), and the prices are very reasonable. P.S coming to Flambee for Capital City, DIG BR restaurant week, and on a holiday is always a must because they make fantastic desserts that they don't offer on their regular menu. I'm officially obsessed with Pizza Byronz! I love speciality pizza places, and Pizza Byronz exceeds all expectations of menu items! I will 10000% be back to try other things on their menu! Since it was my first time there, I decided to get things that I think I would've liked the most! Starting off with the Brie bites! Fried pieces of Brie with fig jam! So amazing! Délicieux! I was excited for Flambée Café especially with my love for all things French! We decided to go for the first time last Friday when my sister and her husband were in town visiting from Alabama. I could have taken them to one of my more tried-and-true favorite restaurants to be safe, but I have been wanting to try this new place. I love Bistro Byronz, so I had high hopes. Fortunately, we enjoyed ourselves and our food very much. I started with a Francais 75 - (my signature drink if I may say so, I try them everywhere!) and this one was simply perfect. The rest of my party enjoyed their martinis. My sister and I both ordered small Maison salades to start. Super fresh greens, delicious cheese, tomatoes, and a tangy light dressing. The other salades sounded divine, so next time I'll have to try another. The men both ordered boudin tarte flambées which they devoured. I had the Champignon which was topped with mushrooms and fresh goat cheese. It was super flavorful, delightfully thin and crispy, and overall delicious. My sister had the Provençale tarte flambée which was also really delicious - the fire roasted tomatoes and crème fraîche were a great combination. Our server, Amy, was great and very helpful. Everything came out fast, fresh, and hot! The atmosphere is very modern but with a French flair. It's charming and reminiscent of Bistro Byronz, but with more of a quirky French feel. I loved all of the little details, like the French slogans and idioms featured in many of the dish titles. If you don't know a bit of French, the menu might seem a little confusing since so many French words are used. While I found it adorable, others in my party had a bit of trouble. However, once we tasted the food it didn't matter. It was all delicious and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be returning to Flambée Café. read more

I had such high hopes for this spot and boy....did they deliver! Our party of six arrived around 8:45pm on a Friday evening. We received a warm welcome and were quickly seated. Our drink orders were taken immediately and then our actual waiter was introduced. We received a nice overview of the menu and several suggestions. They have "good" crushed ice and flavorful, brewed iced sweet tea. We decided to share a variety of items, which works perfectly for this place. Our selections included the boudin tarte, jardin(veggie), coq au vin Blanc, shrimp ratatouille, make your own tarte ( pepperoni, bacon and mushrooms) and a side of Brussel sprouts/carrots. The only negative was that the make your own tarte didn't appear to have any creme Fraiche as ordered, but it was eaten anyway. I also ordered a Provençal tarte flambee to go for my hubby, which he thought was great. The tarte flambees were all delicious, with my favorite being the jardin. The veggies were flavorful and the crust perfect. I've been dreaming about another since we left. The roasted Brussel sprouts and carrots were tasty too. Everyone else adored the coq au bin blanc, flash fried chicken thighs in a white wine sauce. The ratatouille gratin with shrimp went over very well and was packed with yummy veggies. Our service was attentive and the atmosphere very cozy. They also have a nice outdoor space. Our waiter also split our tickets easily and welcomed us to return at the end. Pizza Byronz is a really neat little spot in Baton Rouge. The interior has the vibe of a village restaurant/pub, and the exterior dining tables in the cozy alley created by two adjacent mixed-used buildings is about as close to the feeling of dining in charming restaurants tucked in nooks and cranny's of European towns as one can get in Baton Rouge. The food is wonderful, they have the same tart flambees as before (which is my personal favorite), and have added more traditional pizza as well as pan pizza. I hear the hamburger here is spectacular - can't wait to try. Looks like they have great craft salads too. read more

I wasn't super impressed with this place. The food was good, but not memorable. I did enjoy the atmosphere and decorations. I thought the restaurant looked very nice and had a home vibe. But the food just wasn't what I thought it would be. I ordered the Honey Poulette Tarte Flambee and it did taste good. But I was hoping for something different/unique. It is not a bad place to swing by for a meal but don't expect anything over the top. There are just so many great restaurants in Baton Rouge so it is very competitive here. Was it a good meal? Yes. We really went for the live music and beer but we were pleasantly surprised by the food. Byronz had big shoes to fill after flambee Cafe and reviews were so-so but we were hungry so we started with the Brie. The Brie itself was okay- small portion though, not large enough to share. I though the sauce was a little too rich/too sweet but everyone else who had a piece really liked it. I think I prefer my Brie to be the sauce, rather than the cracker. Unbeknownst to me my husband ordered the chipped potatoes with marinara- there went my carb allocation! They came out crisp and hit and delicious. We ordered the veggie pizza for dinner but with olive oil instead of red sauce! It was really, really delicious. I would definitely order it again. Service was a little slow, but our wait person was awesome. We drank local beer- Knarly Barly Jucifer- it's the Louisiana equivalent of say ... a Blue Moon, citrusy and slightly bitter. The music was really good- please bring them back. I have no idea what the band's name is but I'm posting pics. What's the band's name? We drank; we ate; we danced. As paraphrased on their menu the tartes flambée is the sexier French cousin of pizza that are Paper-thin, crispy crust and the freshest of ingredients baked in a French fired classic brick oven. I have eaten there on several occasions including two birthday parties. Every so often you can see the circus performers from GymFit put on a spectacle while your children can play on their parkour obstacle course. The tartes flambée that draws me in the most is the tarte flamburger lardon - because I am a sucker for cheddar, caramelized onions and especially bacon. So the pizza is out of this world, which is the most important thing. And the variety they offer not only with toppings but with style is refreshing. I'm partial to their square pizzas because even though it's styled like deep dish with a thicker, crunchier crust that's baked up against the side of a pan, they don't drown it in sauce like many other deep dish pizzas. In my opinion the menu is such an improvement from the venture that was here before by the same owners called Flambee Cafe. I haven't dined in here yet or tried any cocktails, but I have a feeling they will have some very tasty drinks! AND I STILL NEED TO TRY THE BREAD PUDDING EVERYONE IS RAVING ABOUT! The staff has been so nice and friends when I go in to pick up my pizza. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that, while the flavor of the parmesan flat fries was delicious, the texture was not good. At first I thought maybe they just don't travel well to-go, but the issue wasn't that they were soggy. They were actually too hard. So thin that you couldn't really tell it was a fry. It chewed more like a hard cracker or something. But overall I love this place and I live like 2 minutes away so I'll be coming back often read more

This place has intrigued me. I went once when it was Flambee cafe, and was rather underwhelmed. Tonight was mostly a different story. There were a couple negatives: the drink menu and the meatball toast. For the meatball toast, the flavor was fine, but it was totally overpriced for four small slices of toast and two meatballs at $11.95. The rest of our food was delicious and a great value. My son went with the tried and true classic pepperoni pizza. My daughter enjoyed the roast beef au jus sandwich and flat fries (were cooked well--all crispy). I shared the square butcher pizza with my husband, which was probably more than enough for one person, but maybe not enough for two people. However, my husband said it is is new favorite pizza. It's definitely got that "old school" traditional pizza vibe that is hard to find. We were too full for dessert this time, but I look forward to returning and trying the parfaits. Sent it back and was served another one which was basically just as bad. We ordered two pizzas which had great crusts but the toppings did not look fresh.
