Bistro was always a favorite when it was a little neighborhood restaurant. The food was always top notch and the service excellent and during Covid they kept us fed. They moved into a new location at Jones Creek. The new restaurant is beautiful on the bar side. The other side is a HUGE dining room for large groups and families with children. There is plants of parking but it's still a crowded parking lot.We have tried to go 4 times. We succeeded once on a Thursday at 5:30. The food was excellent. I had a personal vegetarian pizza and hubs had eggplant parm. Prices are very reasonable. I love their food and waitstaff is excellent- the 20 and 30 minute wait times not so much. Even the bar was SRO. It is a testament to their quality that it takes an act of DOG to get seated quickly. (I'm usually hangry when I get off work.I want to getting fed in 20 or 30 minutes, not just be seated and they don't take reservations. That being said, if you don't mind the wait, the food is always fresh, made to order. The quality is consistent and they are now even open limited hours on Sunday which is a nice brunch alternative. I've been here 5 times since it opened its new location. I get the same thing pretty much every time. Wine ofc, meatballs eggrolls, & Italian sandwich with bistro salad as a side. Our server was absolutely horrible last night. We will not be coming back due to how badly the service was handled. Out server on our ticket was JaNet A. I am giving the 2 stars instead of the one solely because i do love my food. if you sit on the left hand side of the restaurant the noise carries and it can get really loud. The place was not packed to set the tone. When we ordered our drinks my dad asked if she had grapefruit juice-depending on the answer was going to depend on what he was going to order. She took a while to come back for an answer- When she delivers my daughters food- she then confirms there is not grapefruit juice. We order eggrolls - She does not deliver them to us. - another server did. There is a hole in the wall when you sit on the left hand side that connects to the bar to what I assume the servers can order drinks. We can see her talking and talking. Mind you it has been 40 minutes since our SALAD had been ordered. We asked another server to go get her. The other server tells our server "hey your table is asking for you" and she raises her finger to the sever telling her "one more minute." Mind you she is not serving the people she is socializing with. We order our salad which is supposed to come before our entree especially since he got a pasta entree. When she comes we state we have been waiting 40 minutes for a salad and her response was "Well I did put your food order in" She then goes to the back and pops out with both the salad and the pasta. My dad states the salad is supposed to come before my meal?? what is happening to which she states that she can just bring the pasta in the back until he's done with the salad or he can just not eat at all. LIKE WHAT??? A manager had to take it off the ticket which is more disappointing that he did not take it upon himself to say I'm sorry or anything. THEN my sandwich and salad comes which makes me wonder why is my sandwich taking longer than a pasta dish. Unfortunately I did not trust for her to take my food in the back to box it herself since there was so much tension so I asked for a box. We got there at 6:30 and stayed until 8:30 to only get one drink - one app and one sandwich with salad. & my daughter got buttered noodles read more

May 12, 2026 - We finally got to go eat at Bristo Italia a few weeks ago. We had tried eating there 4-5 times before, but they were always closed or the help did not show up. The food was just ok. Not that good for what you have to pay for. The Red Sauce was a little bitter. We also had to wait a long time just to get our food and they were not very busy when we went there. And the food was not very hot. Our waitress was pretty friendly and nice when we first got there. When we went to pay, which we always pay by Cash, and now, some places round up for the pennies because they don't have any pennies. Well we gave the girl our cash money and we were supposed to get back $11.58 back. Well, after we paid and gave her a nice tip, we noticed that she had kept the 58 Cents!! Wasn't that special!!! So we will not be going back over there again!! That's stealing our money!! If we would've known that, we just wouldn't have left a tip - that 58 cents would've been her tip!! Got a 16" John the butcher pizza (takeout). Very disappointed. For the price, $28, I didn't expect soggy crust. Other than that, the pizza was very underwhelming. Super skimpy on toppings. My experience dining in has been excellent (pasta dishes), but will not order pizza to go again. read more

Put this place on your go-to for Italian! Had dinner there with my family over the weekend, waited a bit for our table (They had a couple of large groups dinning) but it was well worth it. Old place, nice staff with "seat yourself" . . New location added a host. Good idea on a whole, but should hire an experienced host instead of the person we met. . . A good hostess thinks on her feet and doesn't get in the way of other staff, keeps tables and people flowing . . Prepare to wait because hostess has no idea. Checked out the new Bistro Italia location and we loved it! We ordered the tomato basil soup, Big Lou pizza, Shrimp Primavera, and Diablo shrimp. Everything came out hot, was delicious and you could tell the ingredients were fresh! The team was friendly, the atmosphere was upscale but still very comfortable, and the prices are very reasonable (sharing the menu pics for anyone curious). I ordered and picked up a pizza. This was my first time getting their pizza and I was not impressed. I opened and looked at the pizza before I paid for it and thought it was okay. We have been eating at Bistro since the year they opened. It is our 'go to' for Italian food and we eat here more frequently than I care to admit. I have eaten almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. (Except when I want lasagna and they are out of it). They used to have this burger on poboy bread that was actually smashed meatballs with all of the other Italian meats, cheese and marinated spinach...I miss it...a lot. The service is always great and the owners are happy to come from the kitchen and speak with the customers. It's super small and definitely seems to be a neighborhood staple, so when you walk in you feel only slightly out of place. I was really impressed by this place. We went for lunch one day. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but for what it is (a little hole in the wall strip mall restaurant) they did a fantastic job, and the prices reflect the location. The decor is cute with nice art on the walls, and it's very clean. The food was DELICIOUS. Every dish we got. My 4 year old got the kids chicken Alfredo and it was probably the best Alfredo I've ever had. The plate was gigantic so we had leftovers. I got one of the wedge salads with chicken breast. It was HUGE. The ingredients were a nice upgrade from what you usually get at middle-grade Italian restaurants. Gorgonzola, dried cranberries, candied pecans, balsamic. The service was great too. Bistro Sadness. Ordered out. Not sure if it's better there. But this was pretty bad. The good: fried croutons. The bad: everything else. Store bought pizza dough and cooked with the basil on it, so the entire pie has an unpleasant taste. The ravioli are frozen, the marinara is a bit bland, the meatballs are full of hard chunks you have to pick out of your mouth. This place gets great reviews but I would give it a 2/5. And the portions are shockingly small. For $50 I feel like I got $25 worth of food. 2 small meatballs and half a dozen ravioli for over $20? Would not recommend. read more

we frequently order the 16" pizza but sometimes order Italian entrees. It's all very good, and service is a little slow but good.

I had been to the old place once and remembered it as very good. The new place was a total disapointment. My retired lunch bunch went Friday and found the food and service to be underwelming. I ordered eggplant parm pasta and although the portions were generous it was more fast food than true italian. I would swear the "eggplant" was commercial food service frozen breaded cheese stick because I could not see or taste any eggplant. Preggo makes a better sauce. It did not come with a salad which is pretty standard at most good restraunts and the "side salad" was overpriced at $7. The breadstick was definately "Olive Garden" and my Nutella pie was served frozen. I was charged for a sweet tea that I didn't order and asked for a to-go sweet tea to compensate (I intended to pay for my lunch partners tea and said that to the waiter) but what he did was add the $3 to my lunch partner's check and left it on mine. He did bring me a to-go tea, but that is not what I asked him to do. To wrap up (there is much more I could add) I could have gone to Ruth Chris's for lunch and had a supurb filet for about the same cost as this not very enjoyable $50 lunch. read more

We have been dining at Bistro Italia for years at the old location. The new location looks fantastic! I have to admit the main dining room is a little loud. However, the service, as always, was wonderful. Roanne was busy but very attentive and friendly. She humored our twin boys who can be talkative. The food was great! We tried some new to us items like the egg rolls which the we all loved. The salads were great and fresh as well. As usual the pizza was delicious and there will be leftovers for tomorrow. For drinks the Don was a little on the sweet side for my taste but well prepared. Roanne kept everyone with plenty of refills and continued to be a superstar for the whole experience. read more

After reading mixed reviews, we tried it for ourselves. We had lasagna which was delicious and a very large portion. I was able to make 2 meals off of it and I'm a very big eater. For 22 dollars well worth it for price and quality. We also ordered the meatball stuffed eggplant. Also huge and very good. The foccasia bread was odd. It was actually cheese pizza. I'm not sure why but they verified it was the right item. I did enjoy it and have no complaints but it's not what I expected. Also we were full off of that large order of bread because after essentially sharing a cheese pizza that was enough food in itself. I think from looking around I understand that some say the meal wasn't worth it because the one item I wouldn't order is spaghetti. Yummy salad, yummy cheesy-bread app, easy, quiet place to chat for hours with a friend (unless they have a noisy bunch in there, which I've never experienced). Worst pizza I've ever eaten; I'm honestly not that particular (in my mind, most pizza is good pizza), but do yourself a favor and skip the pizza. On top of having zero appeal as an actual food item, it was partially burned. I wouldn't pay $2.00 for it tomorrow. This is NOT what inspired this review. I paid with cash, and the generally sweet waitress, whom we'd loved up until this point, brought back my bills but not the coins she owed me. I asked her about it, and she said they always either round up or round down. In my mid-50s, this is exactly the second time in my life I've experienced this at a sit-down restaurant. She was fortunate I was feeling particularly charitable because I still tipped her over 20%. (At the last restaurant, withholding some of my change inspired no tip.) I, of course, required she actually go retrieve the money she owed me, which was an awkward, minor ordeal, particularly because she was entirely mystified and thrown by the whole thing, and her intellect up until that moment seemed on point. SO bizarre. (I strongly suspect many cash payers don't notice or are too embarrassed to speak up.) While the money matters, what matters more is the unethical and frankly foolish business practice that the server said was standard at the restaurant. In essence, they are communicating, "We will take cash, but we're too lazy to do math or carry change and will therefore intentionally keep some of your money any time we choose." NOTE TO RESTAURANTS: If you are too lazy to bother with coins, this is how many times you round down: ZERO. *ALWAYS* opt to cheat yourself and not the customer. How is this not obvious? read more

I've passed this place a million times in its non-assuming location on Coursey and had always heard whispers about how great the food was and how larger the portion sizes were. When I finally found myself on this side of town on a Friday and I wasn't in the mood for my typical Albasha lunch, I decided to hit them up! I was really feeling a pizza and salad, so luckily they have a pretty extensive pizza menu of the basic favorites and then a make your own option. The 10 inch (small) option would be a perfect pizza to split for lunch, or, to eat half of for lunch and eat for dinner. I went with the Greek, because it reminded me of a delicious pizza I ate as a kid in Hammond - and I wasn't disappointed. The crust was crispy where it needed to be with just enough of that doughy give that you only get from homemade. The toppings were plentiful and it was tough for me to stop at eating just half - but you have to practice a little restraint when you order pizza for lunch and have to go back to work, amiright? This place is really a Baton Rouge hidden gem, although the outside of the building is not much to be desired, the inside is warm and inviting. The staff is always friendly & efficient when we go eat here. It doesn't take long for the food to come out to the table. The Chicken Parm meal is what I get every time I go there for special occasions. Best Chicken Parm I've had at any Italian restaurant so far. It is honestly a feel-good Italian meal, plus it feeds two people/doubles as a leftover meal! It really is worth it for the price its at. The portions are very generous as well. This is a hole-in-the-wall gem in Baton Rouge! Authentic Italian, pretty much all homemade. Good service and better food. The tomato basil soup is truly unmatched.
