Once a month, I meet with a group of sweet ladies for lunch and we like to try a different restaurant each time. For April, we chose Gino's. The waiter who served us wasn't particularly personable, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt--maybe he was just having a rough day. He took our drink orders and asked if we would like some "Laurence bread." We had not heard of it, and it wasn't clear whether it was complimentary or not. He recommended we get three orders (two pieces per order) to cover our group of six. At that point, we realized it wasn't complimentary--but that was okay. Most of us ordered from the daily lunch specials. I chose the veal, which came with a salad. The salad was good. One friend, however, said her salad had entirely too much dressing on it, and was not enjoyable. When my entrée arrived, I was disappointed to find a lone, dry fried veal cutlet with no sauce and a side of spaghetti with just a dab of sauce for color. The lunch was $18.95. I requested extra sauce for the veal and my bread roll--he brought some--cost $1.50. Oddly, Parmesan cheese wasn't offered, which is standard at most Italian places. One friend asked the man refilling our drinks, but he never returned. She eventually asked the waiter, who did bring some. Honestly, I'm surprised we didn't find a charge on our bill for that too. As we boxed up our leftovers (though I'm not even sure why), one friend who had the chicken shish kebab--and had only eaten about half--was asked why she wasn't taking hers home. She replied, "It came to the table dry--I can't imagine it reheated." When the checks arrived, one friend was mistakenly charged for a salad that should have been included with her meal, but she caught it, and they corrected it. Another friend, who hadn't ordered from the lunch menu, was charged $25 for her meal plus an additional fee for her salad, which wasn't included. And each of us was charged $3.25 for a single roll. I understand that prices are up and dining out is a luxury, but this felt a bit steep for a meal that was, at best, mediocre. Side note: Two ladies ordered meals to take home for their husbands, and I gave my leftovers to mine. All three were unimpressed.

Expensive for what it is, but it's good Italian food in the Baton Rouge area. I got the Italian Sausage meal (sauce and sausage not pictured) with a Caprese Salad to go, and it was $40, which I thought was very expensive for the portion size. The noddles, sausage and sauce were amazing. It comes with two sausage links and tons of sauce. Even though I had it to-go, I feel like I still got the delicious quality of food. I wish there was more for the price.. I feel like it was only a cup of noodles, but oh well. The Caprese Salad was average but only two pieces. I did like the thickness of the cheese though. I ordered and within 25 minutes it was ready to go. You have to walk to the bar to pick up to-go orders, and this gives you a chance to see the restaurant. I liked this because most restaurants have you pick up to-go orders at the front, so you aren't able to see the resturant. It's an old Italian vibe with fireplaces and a dark lighting inside. Very authentic Italian, just wish portion sizes were bigger because I was still hungry after.

The food was amazing and the service was very impeccable. I definitely would come back again the best food I've had in a long time. The vibe and environment

Tuesday dinner, 6/22/21 first time visit. Easy 5 review. Atmosphere, service and food were equally amazing. I was here with a friend (who is local) for dinner around 7:30pm. Everything was fantastic, the food was incredible. For me I am pretty traditional when visiting an Italian restaurant for the first time, chicken parmigiana. It was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The recommended wine, Plumjack Cabernet was great too! Kudos to you & your staff!

Good food, great service, and kind of a hidden gem. Do think the food was a bit overpriced, but would definitely recommend to others.

    Good for families?

Yes we've brought our children there. It definitely leans more towards a classic, fine dining atmosphere but is good for the entire family.

We were a party of two and were told that the wait would be 15-20 minutes. We waited 42 minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated the table had a horrible wobble, the waitress was clearly over worked, flustered, and confused when she came over to take our order. We were very simple, we stuck with water and immediately ordered only entrees. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, the salads took about 24 minutes to come out along with bread and was immediately followed out by our entrees 7 minutes later. The person I was dining with ordered the cheese lasagna with meatball; she said it was delicious. My chicken parmigiana however, was completely charred. I told one bite and was hit with the taste or BURNT breadcrumbs. The following information is why I rated this a 1 star. The person I was dining with flagged down the hostess because the server didn't check on us. She informed the hostess that the chicken was burnt, without a single word the hostess reached across the table and began to walk away, a different server saw the interaction and asked what happened. I said my chicken was burnt, again without saying anything to us, she walked over to the hostess and whispered to her. They both then headed to the kitchen. Again, they did NOT say anything to me or the person I was with. About 5 minutes later our waitress finally comes to the table and asked where my plate was, I explained about the chicken and she responded, let me check on it. NO ONE apologized to me, gave me a time frame for the remake, or even try to offer an excuse. They just walked away from us. When the waitress returned with the food, she set it down, and said "there you go" and walked away again. I paid for our meals and we left. In customer service, the expectation is to at a bare minimum l, apologize for the issue and tell me you'll rush the remake (even if you can't rush it). But to just not acknowledge us, it was very disappointing. An older gentleman had been roaming the restaurant, previous to us being seated, talking up customer and solving problems, I would guess he was either the owner or a manager. Either way, he was very active on the floor but he didn't even approach us after the issue. Again, VERY bad experience. I don't think I'll be revisiting this restaurant during my next visit to Baton Rouge.

The service was decent, and our waitress was lovely even while managing her chaotic, busy night. The specials did not disappoint; I would wait a million hours for this roasted garlic bread if I had to! The shrimp penne special was a creamy sauce with some greens and was really delicious! If you don't like garlic in your food I would avoid this spot! I would come back during a less busy time of the day.

Carrabba's food, although good enough, is still just formula retail brand-based chain menu boring. Pricing is high when you consider the value component. It offers only a small savings on total check compared to higher-end restaurants with long-standing presence in the community. The service is certainly up to par with most retail chain restaurants. Your server will be an underpaid tip-dependent student, single parent, or part-timer working a second job, but will have an obvious desire to please you even though neither the company nor the store managers appear to appreciate them. In short, Carrabba's is just another brand operating under an umbrella hospitality group of restaurants. No surprise that it is operated on a corporate-managed formula established in a high-level management meeting room for the benefit of the shareholders rather than for the benefit of the customer experience. Compare the experience with that of going to Outback (a member of Carrabba's group) for a steak when the local steak house is the real place to spend money for a steak dinner. Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
