    Italian house salad

Such a great little find. Upscale feels with a laidback vibe. Service was superb though I can't recall our servers name, and food was delish! From the complimentary bread that was rustic and so soft, to the simple yet fresh Italian house salad to my chicken piccata which was nothing short of perfection, this place hit on all the high notes. Definitely will visit again soon as I'm passing through town.

My first time in LA, this restaurant was highly recommended. It was a Monday night and it was extremely busy, it had a full bar and low dime lights. We were a party of two and were told that the wait would be 15-20 minutes. We waited 42 minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated the table had a horrible wobble, the waitress was clearly over worked, flustered, and confused when she came over to take our order. We were very simple, we stuck with water and immediately ordered only entrees. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, the salads took about 24 minutes to come out along with bread and was immediately followed out by our entrees 7 minutes later. The person I was dining with ordered the cheese lasagna with meatball; she said it was delicious. My chicken parmigiana however, was completely charred. I told one bite and was hit with the taste or BURNT breadcrumbs. The following information is why I rated this a 1 star. The person I was dining with flagged down the hostess because the server didn't check on us. She informed the hostess that the chicken was burnt, without a single word the hostess reached across the table and began to walk away, a different server saw the interaction and asked what happened. I said my chicken was burnt, again without saying anything to us, she walked over to the hostess and whispered to her. They both then headed to the kitchen. Again, they did NOT say anything to me or the person I was with. About 5 minutes later our waitress finally comes to the table and asked where my plate was, I explained about the chicken and she responded, let me check on it. NO ONE apologized to me, gave me a time frame for the remake, or even try to offer an excuse. They just walked away from us. When the waitress returned with the food, she set it down, and said "there you go" and walked away again. I paid for our meals and we left. In customer service, the expectation is to at a bare minimum l, apologize for the issue and tell me you'll rush the remake (even if you can't rush it). But to just not acknowledge us, it was very disappointing. An older gentleman had been roaming the restaurant, previous to us being seated, talking up customer and solving problems, I would guess he was either the owner or a manager. Either way, he was very active on the floor but he didn't even approach us after the issue. Again, VERY bad experience. I don't think I'll be revisiting this restaurant during my next visit to Baton Rouge.

Meatball appetizer with tomato cream sauce

my bestie pal and I went here for the first time together for dinner. Instantly, the wait staff alone are all so energetic and amazing! She was very helpful and bubbly. Food; we came and ordered 3 appetizers. We ordered the Meatball which you can choose the tomato cream sauce or tomato sauce. We chose the tomato cream. The flavor of the sauce was good! I'm pretty picky when it comes to Italian tomato base sauces, but all in all a nice & dense appetizer. 4/5 Calamari ; I love calamari! Who doesn't love calamari?! The serving size for this appetizer was perrrfect. It was my buds first time ever having it and said it was a top tier appetizer. The calamari came with a tomato dipping sauce and a tartar lemony garlic dipping sauce. Cambozola and roasted garlic ; Ok, so I love a good cheese and garlic concoction in my mouth. However, the baguette toast that the dish comes with was extremely dry. I feel like if it had came with an olive oil base or something with the gooey , warm, savory garlic then it would've made this appetizer better. Ambiance ; CUTE. Lots of outdoors seating. Inside is small with a bar and maybe 8-9 tables. The location is honestly perfect. The owner, even came out and chatted with us as we were leaving! This place is such a hidden gem with a homey vibe. Considering we only came for a girl dinner and drinks, our experience was amazing and needless to say...we will be back!!!!

Hidden gem! Di Giulio Brothers is hands down the most authentic Italian food in Baton Rouge. There's a reason it is packed at 6pm, parking spots full, long wait...because the food and atmosphere is worth it! They since expanded seating, but recommend getting there early. We started out with the calamari which was crispy, fresh, and had amazing flavor. The soft shell crabs were fairly inexpensive but were the largest I have seen in so long! They were full, sweet and perfectly fried. Highly recommend! Another dish we absolutely would order again: Mike's Pizza. The eggplant is a nice touch! The flavor of the pizza is incredible - you will not be disappointed. The sea-bass was sub par in my opinion; wish they would have used a different cut of the sea-bass as it was extremely dry. The pesto was great, however! Certainly recommend if you're poking for an authentic Italian restaurant with phenomenal food!

Went for Fathers day, and because of this the restaurant was absolutely packed. This is definitely a double edged sword though, the aesthetic of the place screamed "small owned, authentic food" where the amount of noise quite literally screamed to me, where I personally had some difficulties hearing. (I am hearing impaired, so I suggest taking that with a grain of salt) I would love to go back though! I had gotten spaghetti and pesto for the first time and I don't think it was quite what I had imagined it to be, so I would love to try more of the menu. I also had gotten bread instead of a salad, which, in my opinion if I had known it was going to be a denser sourdough bread, I would have just said to "no" to the salad. Our server was great, even though it was very busy I felt like they were able to check in on the table enough to where it didn't feel like we had to wait. Lastly, for dessert we got and shared their cannolis and oh my gosh. LOVED. THEM.

When we entered the restaurant the hostess stand was super friendly as usual. Unfortunately, our table was miserably small and in very close proximity to a large table and a wall which essentially made us "sandwiched in". The noise in the room was horribly loud and hard to have a conversation with our guests. The server was fine however, was not as friendly as we are used to and that was a bit of a disappointment. However, the man refilling our water was fabulous, upbeat and very courteous. The food was amazing and is always consistent! When we are spending $150 on a check for 2, I want the entire fabulous dining experience which I had always felt like I got in the past. Anyway, to reiterate, I love the location, the vibe, the delicious food. Just was not a good choice for conversation and personal space. Also, even though the server was efficient, we did not get that warm and friendly vibe we are used to.

Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
