My slice of pizza with 1 and 1/2 bites taken out of it.
Randy H.

I finally made it over to Pizza 51 South, and honestly, the building itself is the coolest part of the experience. It's got that great open seating, it's clean, and the staff is genuinely friendly. Speaking of the staff, I have to give a massive shoutout to the girl at the counter for her "Public Service Announcement." When I went to order, she gave me the lowdown: do not order anything from the tap. I appreciate that kind of radical honesty In this world of corporate greed. The menu claims they have bottled beer, but in reality, if it isn't on tap, it's in a can. I ended up with a Blue Moon in a can--a first for me--but hey, it did the job. As for the main event: I went for a 5-topping customized slice. I won't bore you with my specific architecture, but let's talk logistics. These slices are massive and have that classic New York-style "flop," which I usually love. Unfortunately, the execution was a bit of a letdown. The crust was on the dry side and the overall flavor was just... missing. It felt like a giant canvas with a splotch of paint. At the end of the day, I dropped $20 for a single slice and a can of beer. I can go to Sam's Club and get two slices and a drink for less than the tax on this meal--and actually taste the sauce--it's hard to justify the return trip. Cool vibe, great service, but the pizza needs a little more soul (and maybe a working tap).

Bar-b-que slice.

This was a perfectly-loaded pizza. Very cheesy - but not overwhelming - with an expertly-cooked crust. The single slices are absolutely gigantic. My wife ordered the bar-b-que chicken slice and loved it. The kids claim they've never had better! Great happy hour menu. We will be back (a lot)!

"Cowtown Lovers"!

The kids and I popped into the new Olathe location of Pizza 51 after a half day at school, and had a wonderful experience! Sitting right along the road on Kansas Avenue, it's easy to find! There's parking out front, and along the road as well. The building is really attractive, and has great indoor and outdoor dining options! Due to the unseasonably gorgeous weather for late August, we decided to pull up to a table on the patio! At the advice of the employee working the counter, we ordered a medium (18") "Cowtown Lovers" pizza to split between the three of us. We were a little worried it wouldn't be enough, but we all had two slices and were stuffed, leaving two slices for leftovers! The pizza came out super fresh and hot after no more than 20 minutes, which gave us time to enjoy the lovely weather and a couple passing trains (I swear, this set of tracks HAS to be the busiest this side of the Mississippi! ...all who traverse downtown Olathe know what I'm talkin' about!). Overall, the pizza was great, but what all of us kept raving about was the PERFECTION of the crust! They strike a perfect, PERFECT balance on the crispiness-of-bite, but soft-to-chew approach! We scarfed our pizza, nabbed a to-go box for those two orphaned slices, and were on our way! But, it won't be long before we head back for more pie at Pizza 51! Food = 5/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 4/5 Ambiance = 5/5 Value = 4/5

This new location served up a tasty, large, pizza slice during my opening week dine-in lunch. My 12" x 9" custom five topping slice ($7.99) was brought to my table 14 minutes after I ordered at the counter. The slice was perfectly cooked with a thin, crunchy crust, plenty of toppings and fair amounts of cheese and sauce. I found the service to be mixed, with glum, inefficient, must repeat everything service at the counter but with cheerful table service and a satisfaction check from a manager. The interior offered an open kitchen, a garage theme, celebrity-themed table markers, two dining areas, seven TVs, 80s background music, plenty of natural light and one rollup garage door. I also noticed a covered patio. They offer beer, wine and a happy hour (3-6 PM M-F) Overall, pretty good!

First time at Pizza 51. We sat on patio and trouble enjoyed our Saturday afternoon. Orders a few pizzas bc we knew we wanted to take some home. Brought our puppy dog and he got fresh water bowl from our waitress. The cow town and the chicken pizza were amazing. The crust was so good. We took a pepperoni home and our daughter loved it. We will be back for sure. Keep up the good work. It is tough starting out and I saw some reviews were they were not so great. It takes time to get things down to an art form. We are quick to judge. And this place will shine bright for years. Keep supporting and keep grinding at Pizza 51

I've been excited about this place since I first heard about it. It strangely huge inside and can accommodate large groups. Great patio with tvs outside. Pizza tastes about like that New York style. Only weirdness is ordering up front and starting at the menu. After that it's a well oiled machine. I've tried a couple menu items and definitely have more to sample .

I wanted to try Pizza 51 and I love supporting local businesses. My co workers all had mixed reviews. They said it wasn't bad but not best either. I went for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. I attempted to order online ahead of time . They were not accepting online orders at that time as they were not set up for that yet in their Olathe location. We ordered two slices of pizza. Their slices are large. Definitely one slice is more than enough. It is weird how they slice it but the taste is good. I saw someone ordering their largest pizza it was massive. We picked up our pizza slices and took it to go. There was unfortunately because of how hot it's been so many flies around. It's definitely this heat that is attracting the flies. I wish the onions on the highway special were more cooked. Presentation was ok . I wish this business much success.

I was solo so I sat along the tiny bar. Bar is fine, stools are TINY!

Today was another excellent day at Pizza 51. My daughter and I share a slice of cheese pizza and a chicken Caesar salad and still had leftovers. The crust on the pizza is just so tasty and the salad was perfect. The service today was excellent! We were checked on frequently and Maureen (sp) at the front was warm and friendly. Can't wait to return.

The pizza for a single slice is large and cooked New York style. The price is decent considering the times we live in.

This is probably one of the best empanada shells that I've ever had in my whole life. Super crispy and airy. filling had a lot of cheese. Great on those days when you wanna double (or quadruple) down on the cheese. First day of work, and I decided to treat myself to Schlotzsky's…read more Started with the baked potato soup, which was incredibly hearty, creamy, rich, and comforting. I actually requested bread instead of crackers, which was clearly stated on the receipt. But you know what? Schlotzsky's knew me better than I knew myself. The crackers worked better with the soup, and there were already more than enough carbs in that medium sourdough sandwich. Then there's The Original, which I genuinely think Schlotzsky's has perfected. The saltiness of the deli meats paired with that tangy muffuletta spread just works beautifully. And whoever was playing sandwich artist that day deserves some credit, because they were especially generous with the dressing. I've had The Original plenty of times, but I don't remember it ever tasting quite this good. The only thing keeping this from five stars was the sourdough. It wasn't as crisp as it should've been and was already starting to crumble. That said, damn, Schlotzsky's knows sourdough. Even on an off day, I'd put their bread up against just about any grocery store or sandwich establishment. The soup and half of The Original were more than substantial enough for lunch, and the remaining half made a nice addition to dinner later that evening. Pictures? Nope, not today, junior. Food coma wasn't a consequence. It was the goal.

This was the start of my love affair that still runs hot today. Excluding mom and pop restaurants, Jersey Mikes is by far the best of all chain restaurants. Jersey Mikes located off in Olathe was my first ever experience with the chain and forever etched it into my favorite chain for Subs! The hallmark of any great subshop is first quality meats and secondly them slice them to order. While a lot of shops now slice their own meats and cheeses, I believe Jersey Mikes was the first chain to do so (check me on that if wrong but I worked at Subway in the 90s and we didn't). With this info always in my mind, I'm always confident that no matter what Jersey Mikes I go to, it will be consistent and the way I like it, b/c I always order in person)! Next, they do bake their bread so another huge win in my book as most just proof up frozen bread which is devoid of the little touches. Finally, the owner was there and was an extremely friendly guy and genuinely excited to take my order! I admit, I'm a cold sub fiend and you can keep the hot subs (sorry Philly). I've literally had every one of their subs but I hold true to the original Italian. Every time I get mine, it's literally a salad on bread. A little bit of onion, lots of lettuce, tomatoes, a couple pickles, 2 japs, S&P, Oregano, lots of mayo, lots of oil, a bit of vinegar but I wish they had olives..... Mine is perfection, brought on by my countless visits and endless tinkering. Good thing I don't work there! My kids got the ham and swiss with just mayo. Granted they're young but I'm not going to argue with them if they're happy. As for the Xwife (sorry a slight lag in writing this) she got the turkey & cheese with mayo, lettuce and tomato. While she didn't die..... she did love the sub (sorry dark humor there). It was our go to spot for many years. Also note they used to serve pizza! That's correct, they were one of 3 pilot Jersey Mike's to serve pizza in addition to the subs. I'll be the first to admit, I thought it was pretty darn good and smart to combine the two American favorites. Alas they no longer serve pizza so you'll just have to opt for one of the many other options (my advice is Detroit style with Italian sausage, onions, tomatoes, olives). Back to the point the whole family was happy. In summary, the store is very clean and safe, while the staff are very nice. Admittedly if you've been to one Jersey Mike's you've basically been to them all. So, I'm basically here saying the say thing as a repeated record as I've lived all over the place and travel frequently. This store is on par with all other locations so shop in confidence you'll get the best sub around!

It's quite small, but I'm eager to go back and check out more things, especially as we get closer to holidays (and PIE, because they had a lot of pies that looked very promising). I ended up just grabbing a hot sandwich combo from the back: burnt ends, spicy sauce with tomato/cucumber salad as my side and it comes with a can of pop. Everyone was SO friendly! I think every employee in the store might have said hello at least once haha. It wasn't just to me; they were friendly to everyone. There was a ton of meat on the sandwich and the sandwich was good. Their standard BBQ sauce that the meat is lightly dressed in is maybe not my favorite I've ever had. It had maybe a fruity flavor to it that wasn't my favorite. The spicy sauce doesn't taste that much different, but it does pack a bit of a punch. Now if you eat raging spicy things all the time, you'll be fine, but if you're not into spice, you probably will think it's pretty spicy. I really loved that cucumber salad. As a side, it was a huge portion and I liked how the pieces were nice and chunky. I'll definitely be back and try some other things and have a closer look around.
