The staff did a great job of keeping the pizza, fresh and hot during the buffet. The salad bar was quite good. It was simple, but everything was a good quality. The pizza itself didn't blow me away. Came here with friends checking out new spots on the Pub Pass. Environment was casual, friendly, local. Smelled like Pizza Hut nostalgia from 1987. Restaurant itself had that dark pizza place vibe but was clean, open, and friendly. Food was what you would expect for a local dine-in pizza joint but was hot, simple, flavorful and tasty. Overall, the food was good. We opted for mozzarella sticks and they were good, but the standard you typically find anywhere. We wanted to try a fun pizza, so opted for the Mac and cheese. It was good (even better dipped in the homemade ranch) but I felt like something was missing...the bacon. I asked our server if it was supposed to have bacon (as I thought I read it on the menu) and he said it was extra. I pulled up the menu online and sure enough, it said choice of regular or jalapeño bacon. When our server came back, I mentioned this to him and he said "oh sorry, the computer gives me 3 options: regular, jalapeño or none) and I assumed it charged extra so I said none. He said he did not realize the menu said bacon was included. He proceeds to say he can request a discount since we did not receive any bacon and I said that would be nice, thanks. About 5 mins later he comes back with the boxes we requested and tells me that he cannot apply a discount and asks if he'd like me to ask his manager. At this point, I'm just frustrated so I said no and took the check and paid. Here's the summary: it's expected that severs know the menu (he admitted he did not and had been there 2 months). Impressive array of thin and regular crust pizza on the buffet. Even a dessert pizza (vanilla crumbles with icing). Pizza is highly personal, everyone has their favorite style..if like us you really like the fluffier thicker crust you may be disappointed. The thin crust is very thin -like cracker thin. The normal pizza was thicker but still had crispy edges and was probably half as thick as say pizza hut might be. Sauce was more on the tomato paste side, really thick and hearty. Toppings were plentiful and the place was doing a good amount of business so don't let me fool you, this is a great local spot, just trying to give my clear opinion and preference. read more

We were excited to try this place. We haven't been here since it changed names, and now we won't be again. We ordered a couple of simple items, gluten free cheese pizza, wings, and pretzel bites. They all three came out burnt, pictures included, I asked for the wings to be smothered in Buffalo, and they barely had any buffalo. The pretzel bites were literally little pieces of pretzel but burnt on one side and hard and Untasty. The pizza was also burnt and not very eatable. I noticed my drink had something floating along the top, and that didn't help. We were so disappointed as this has gone so bad as to when we were here before. DO NOT ORDER AHEAD AND EXPECT TO GET YOUR PIZZA ON TIME I would give Summit Pizza a straight 5 star review, but... Some time ago, when we had a crowd of family here for a visit, I preordered a bunch of pizzas for a specific time. I arrived a few minutes before that time. The pizzas were not ready. I got them 30 minutes after the time I had specified. They gave me a coupon for a free pizza, but that did not retrieve my wasted time, nor did it truly compensate for a large group of people having to wait for their food. Yesterday our grandson, who is visiting from outside the U.S. came for lunch. I had again preordered pizza for a specific time. I again arrived early, the pizza was again not ready. This time I did not receive the pizza until 25 minutes after the specified time. No explanation, no apology, just, "Here's your pizza." Oh, and while I was there another customer came for a pickup. She too had to wait. She checked her order and it was wrong. She told me, "I don't have time for them to make this right." She took what they gave her and left. Left unhappy. This can't be good for business. Late is rude. Wrong orders reveal incompetence. There's a problem. So it appears there is a issue with time management, among other things. Do they prioritize seated customer orders over orders placed in advance? Are the people preparing the pizzas not informed of the time a pizza needs to be ready for the customer? Do the people taking phone orders not check with the kitchen to learn if there is or is not a reason the order may be delayed in order to manage customer expectations? Whatever the problem, it is a management problem. There very clearly is not a system in place to deal with orders placed ahead for a specific pick up time. It's great pizza. But unless/until I know that management has made a change that will increase the likelihood of preorders to be ready at the requested time, I will not, repeat NOT be ordering pizzas for family gatherings or other occasions. I'm surely not the only one to one to this decision. That means a loss of potential income. Bad business model, bad service. read more

"A Rose by any other Name" Summit Pizza is the latest incarnation of Waldo Pizza in Lee's Summit. Sitting in the strip mall across from St. Luke's Hospital, its location is very desirable, and has plenty of well lit parking. Not much has changed with the new name: the "party room" still has the video games, and the main dining room still has the same bar, tables, booths, and salad bar. So the biggest physical difference has been the addition of outdoor seating (picnic tables with umbrellas). The menu has not changed much either, except for the addition of some new specialty pizzas (like BBQ pizzas) and renaming of sandwiches. Their claim to fame is still their St. Louis style thin crust pizzas (very thin with "provel" cheese - as St. Louis invention I believe). They also offer thick crust and gluten free pizzas. But rebel that I am, my new favorite offering is their "Summit Hero" sandwich: Ham, bacon, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, and their cheese blend served toasted on a rustic Italian bread with a side of Italian dressing. It is a great way to get past any pizza overload you may have from ordering the same thing over and over as I am want to do. Their beer menu is pretty good for a family pizza place. Even the most picky should be able to find something to satisfy their palette. As is the case for most other restaurants during our current reopening period, restaffing is taking its toll. Most of their servers appear to be much younger than before (likely not able to take advantage of the expanded unemployment payments), so not as experienced or well trained. In their defense, management is more visible in the dining room. The new sign out front also is backed up by a noticeably "cleaner" inside. I had never realized that it need cleaning up, but the new "feel" is most welcomed. On weekends it can get pretty crowded in the "party room" with private parties booked there. In fact reservations are a pretty good idea for Friday and Saturday nights. COVID-19 Considerations: Masks required when not seated. Staff wears masks. Social Distancing enforced in the main dining room. Sanitizing after each customer. Outdoor seating. Carry out, curbside and delivery available. read more

We ordered breadsticks and they came out pretty quick. Fresh, hot and delicious. Eventually our whole party arrived and we ordered pizza. I felt like it took foreverrrrrrrr to getnojr Pizza. We've have Waldo pizza numerous times here and it has always been amazing! This is my favorite pizza. Regular crust, thin crust...it's all phenomenal. This is one of the friendliest, hometown bars I've ever been to. I came in during a weeknight to grab dinner and drinks with a friend and ended up having tons of fun at the bar, but not because of drinking too much, haha. The bartender was very friendly and a blast to be around, from offering dad jokes, asking us Trivial Pursuit questions for $1 off on drinks, to rolling the dice to see what our next beer on tap would be for $5. The thin crust pizza I ordered did taste different from the Broadway location, but it wasn't better or worse. All the employees were very friendly, and were honestly the best part of visiting. Our food was beyond delicious. We took our family, one kid, one teen, my husband and myself. The kids no longer want Papa John's or pizza hut. They recently remodeled, changed their name from Waldo to Summit Pizza. Unfortunately that's not all that changed. Their quality has certainly gone down. Ordered 3 pizzas this evening. All with traditional hand tossed crust. What we got was an attempt at hand tossed that resembled thin crust. The crust tasted like dough that had too much flour, not enough yeast and was chewy! I don't know why I don't eat here more often. I always have a good Pizza when I'm here and today was no exception. My sister-in-law was in town and we caught a late lunch at Waldo Pizza. My husband I ordered our usual the Waldo Veggie (it has artichokes and large chunks of fresh tomato) with the St. Louis Style thin crust. Then since I had the Ray-Pec Lee's Summit edition School Foundation Fund raiser card, I ordered the small one topping Pepperoni on their whole wheat crust. That was a really good pizza...plenty of cheese. We were able to get diet coke and diet dr. pepper and they also had diet pepsi. We were seated promptly and our service was excellent and efficient. I didn't realize this when i visited the restaurant. It was a Friday, nice weather. myself and my mom had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. When we were called, they sat us at a table right next to the door. It was cold. But okay. Within minutes we were waited on. This is the issues, it took over 50 minutes to receive our order. I literally almost left. Good lord! We waited, and watched while other people receive their order, and leave, and finally our one medium pepperoni/maple sausage/goat cheese/black olive pizza was bought to us. I ordered at 7:00 by 7:50, I was finally eating. that is way too long. I considered some wine, but that that would've made it a practically Restaurant Week special, and I wasn't going to spend $33 for a meal. I love their pizza., it's the best in Kansas City. But their service was slow, too slow. My original review said to visit before 5, and I find it difficult to visit before 5. It was crazy how busy they were, and slow. read more

This was my first time here and I will never return. Went with my gf and she ordered the pizza buffet. She said she had better pizza at Pizza Street for half the cost. Only a few pizza selections. First the salad was fresh but very plain. The ranch dressing was excellent and they sell it there for $4 a bottle. Was pretty salty but still tasted great. Now my garlic cheese bread I was so looking forward to because I haven't had it in 10 years and I sure have missed it. Basically it was a bun opened and sliced into little pieces. I tasted no garlic whatsoever. The cheese was good. The bottom was burned on one side of the bun the other side the burned bread had been scraped off. Now the bad thing is it wasn't gluten free or had cross contamination which has ruined my day and hopefully not my week. This happened 4 hours ago and I'm just now able to write this review. If you want a yummy gluten free pizza go to Minskys. Plus for a 10" gluten free pizza the price is $23. You can get a much larger gluten free pizza at Minskys for $15. This is my daughters favorite pizza joint , she's vegan and they have a wide variety of vegan choices here & she just loves it ! I think it's pretty good just really expensive! Her pizza alone is 20 something and that's for a small . But it's nice that a pizza place has vegan choices that's rare and it's close to home , we love that we all can come to a restaurant and everyone can get something , that's hard when most restaurants don't offer vegan choices , so I think it's awesome they have that many choices on there menu ! We went with a large group of friends so we created our own party atmosphere and that fit right into the scene that seemed to be the usual. Had a check-in offer for a cookie and they ended up giving us an assortment of three, which when cut properly offered a nice bite to everyone in our group. The service was a bit hectic and the atmosphere, as mentioned, was crazed. This is a loud, kid filled raucous pizza joint! Was surprised to see Cinder Block brews on tap, but love when local brews are available and we had to take advantage of that offering! For pizza, we had the Greek pie with sauce, garlic, lamb, tomatoes, arugula, red onions and feta. If you like lamb, this is a solid choice, great flavor combinations with the "traditional" Greek offering. The other pie we had was the Local Pig Special. As a huge fan of Local Pig, I was immediately drawn to offering. The description does say "spicy" and they are not messing around with you on that designation as this turned out to have a serious bite. I would be careful around kids and the squeamish with this flavor profile. It was however delicious and gave me reason to have another Cinder Block. The 'za with porcini mushrooms and the gorgeous and savory LP sausage along with the unusual roasted potatoes, tomatoes, onions and Parmesan was unusual, but absolutely worth the trip.
