Ordered for carry out this evening with a gift certificate we bought at a fund raiser. This is the second in 6 months this location has completely gotten our order wrong. The only thing correct, was the salad. I do not feel like this is a difficult process. The thin crust meat pizza came with black olives and green peppers and no meat. Usually I am a fan of Waldo's but tonight I leave the appropriate one star. Called and ordered pizza at 4:09. Asked for delivery- was told 60-90 minutes. Said I would pick them up. Was told 30-40 minutes. Came in at 4:45- was told they would be out in a minute. Still waiting after over an hour- no offer of any help. Needed to feed my workers at a school event that starts at 5:30. Needless to say- extremely bothered and will not personally or for school business use Waldo's for quite a long time. Terrible service all the way around. And to top it off/ was mocked on my way out as I asked why my order took 70 minutes and was told the misplaced ticket. I explained my frustration and then was mocked by the two ladies in charge of take out. Never again. read more

I eat at Waldo pizza at least once a month. The salad bar is really good and pizza is great. The draft beer selection is really quite nice and diverse. The kids really enjoy so making dollar after dollar into the game machines. The bad part is the service. The staff is great until the end. It always takes forever to get your bill. And it doesn't end there. Almost every single time the bill is wrong. They have so many specials, deals of the day, coupons etc. they can't keep anything strait. Is it just a fat finger everytime? I've said this before about other restaurants I go to a lot but I really mean it this time - I can't believe I haven't reviewed Waldo Pizza yet. A little background - my family is three vegans, three vegetarians, and a carnivore. On an average night out, not everyone will be there but most of the time, we need a place that's flexible with options. Waldo Pizza totally fits that bill. With vegan options, vegetarian, and of course, lot's of meats, everyone in my family agrees Waldo Pizza is an easy choice. The only downside is two locations pretty far from where we are most of the time. Of course, the original location is in Waldo, the second in Lee's Summit. As Northlanders, we only get to the Lee's Summit location every couple weeks. The servers have always been thoughtful and kind - I can't remember a bad experience though they have built enough credit with us to weather that storm. The beer menu is impressive too - a lot more than the standard bar fare. If you haven't been, you're missing out. read more

I'm only reviewing the gluten-free menu options, and not the menu as a whole. That means I cannot partake in their epic beer menu, for the most part. :( In terms of gluten-free pizza, you have three levels - "It tastes worse than the cardboard box that it came in", Dominos, and "Are you sure this is gluten-free?" This pizza falls under the third category, and is the best gluten-free pizza in Kansas City. Not the best in the United States, but the best in Kansas City. Beyond the pizza are many things you wouldn't expect to see as gluten-free. (Baked) Chicken Wings, bread sticks and other similar items, sandwiches, and even dessert. Most places only offer ice cream as a gluten-free dessert, while Waldo offers brownies, cake, cookies, ice cream they make themselves (bacon maple - try it!), and even Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard. If you're from STL, you know about Ted Drewe's, and if you're not from STL, you should try some, as it's the best frozen custard on the planet. (Too bad they don't have a gluten-free version of the big apple... wink wink nudge nudge...) All in all, this is an awesome place to eat if you're on a gluten-free diet. Also a great place to bring your family, and the staff is both laid-back and attentive. Why 4 stars? The decor could use a bit of an update. It feels like 2005 and 1990-something are battling it out for what's in control. Also, don't plan on changing your child in the restroom, as it's too small. read more

Bias, here...I love Waldo Pizza, the original location is the thing I miss most since our move from Waldo itself. We've been living in LS for a few months, and finally made it over to the Douglas Road location a few weeks ago. Obviously, the atmosphere at the hipster-ish, urban location is different from one located in a strip mall off a divided highway. Know what I noticed, though? We didn't have to wait to be seated, which I'm pretty sure is a first for us. We may have just beat the rush, but, still, I was impressed. Service was quicker, and the place was definitely cleaner (none of the permanently sticky table tops that plague the Waldo location). Food was just as delicious as ever, though...the baked ravioli appetizers were perhaps not baked quiiiiite long enough (a little softer and less crisp than I've had them) but good, none the less. My beverage of choice, the blended beer mix of Boulevard Wheat and Lindemann's Framboise, was just as tasty, despite the absence of the Tap Room. Perfect accompaniment for first-rate pizza. I think, for the first time ever, we forsook the honey wheat crust, and learned that their traditional crust is just as lip-smacking. Mmmmmm. read more

Okay my order was screwed up (again)... well that happens we are only human... on the second go around there was hair on my pizza... yuk unacceptable. the Manager actually tried to tell me it was my hair too... but oddly, wrong color. Not for groups. I spoke with an employee on the phone twice about booking the party room for a baby shower. On the first phone call, the person stated that there is no cost to reserve the party room, when we know the date/number of people, we just need to call to make sure they have available and they'll reserve it. So I called about a month ahead of the date we wanted for the shower, and they confirmed the number of people (25) and the date 12/28/2019. They told me to call a couple of days in advance to place our food order. Today, I called and spoke with a manager to place our pizza order. They told me if I had just reserved SEATS at tables in the party room, and that there would be a kid's birthday party there at the same time. I explained that I was told twice that we were reserving the room. She informed me that in order to do that, I would have had to pay $250. I said, that's fine, I can pay that now, I just wish I would have known in advance. But apparently the kid's birthday party made that impossible. I went ahead and placed an order for 30 people, but was told that since there would only be 25 people, we could get a MAXIMUM of six tables (seats for guests only). Where would presents, cake go? Who knows. But the "party room" would be open seating for regular guests IN ADDITION to our shower and the kid's birthday party. Because of their failure to accurately explain what "booking the party room" means, we had to change venues for our event last minute. Looking through past Yelp reviews, it seems this is not an isolated incident. Others have had the same experience. I just hope this review saves someone else from this kind of headache. read more

Man, I wish I could give Waldo Pizza five stars. I'd like to, you see, but I just can't. Because as I scroll through these reviews, I see one BIG, glaring complaint: the service. And while the pizza menu is vast and tasty, and can suit pretty much any palate, I can't bring myself to the fifth star, because when I left Waldo Pizza tonight, I was furious. I arrived in good spirits- meeting some friends for dinner before a movie next door at the theatre. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived, yet our waitress was scarcely by our table. We'd catch glimpses of her, here and there, as she took other table's orders, as she brought pizza out, yet, ours took suspiciously long to emerge from the kitchen. I had to flag her down just to give her the order. I'd estimate our wait for two 10'' pizzas to be around 40 minutes. Way too long considering an empty restaurant. But as we waited, the restaurant filled- and we were forgotten again. I would like to give a shout out to a drink filler upper, who kept our glasses full and brought out more salsa. We saw the waitress only once after she took our order: when we had to flag her down AGAIN for the check. I'd also like to thank the sweet guy behind the bar who graciously took our check and payments, since we'd allotted an hour and a half for dinner and were very close to missing the beginning of the movie. Moral of the story kids: Get your pizza to go or face terrible service. read more

If I can give this place a negative review I would. This place use to be good years ago. So we ordered a pizza on honey wheat crust and this is what they sent out to us. It was burnt. First of all why would they send this out to a table. Secondly the manager came out and told us it's not burnt it's just the way the honey wheat cooks. I explained that I have gotten honey wheat before and never have we received burnt pizza. He seemed to argue with us regarding it not being burnt. I said we don't want it. Finally he said we can make you a new one. But if we order it on honey wheat it will come out like this again. I just told him to put it on regular crust. So I'm not looking for a free meal or anything but he asked if we wanted to eat on that until the new one comes out. I said no and they offered to box it up. We have a teenager at home so I said ok we will just take it home and see if she will eat it. They acted like that was a reward to us. They never offered to discount our meal u less we eat the burnt pizza instead of getting a new one. I was a manager of a restaurant for many years and I would never have treated the guest like this. Even the server tried to tell us it wasn't burnt. We won't be going back to this establishment. This Review for DELIVERY ONLY FOR LSMO ONLY since we haven't dined in because it is a little too "family-friendly" for us and a high noise-level with video machines and running children having a great time using their outdoor voices - which is all great don't get me wrong - our family is no longer in that stage of our lives where we eat in the main room and have our children run wild in the arcade room - this is why we have it delivered. Anyway, Waldo Pizza in KC is the best pizza in the metro as always has been. This used to be true for Lee's Summit as well but over the last 18 months quality of their pizza has steadily declined accompanied by their extremely long delivery times while their prices have gradually increased. This review is not based on just one delivery; it is based upon the last 8 deliveries over the course of 6 months. During this snippet of time, pizzas have arrived either cold, lukewarm, under baked (mainly 16"), light on toppings, heavy on cheese and any combination of the aforementioned. All correctable at home although inconvenient to have to put 4 different pizzas in the oven after waiting an average of 75 minutes for delivery. However, the last delivery will actually be our last...immediately after our family of 6 ingested each of our portions of pizza and salads we were ALL subjected to food poisoning! We will be forever blessed that our home is equipped with 6 bathrooms so any reference to the movie "Bridesmaids" was gratefully avoided. Each of us had to miss school and/work the following day as a sad result since it stayed with us for the 24 hours regardless of the amount we had eaten! So, so long Waldo's; although we will miss you, we have completely gone through the grieving process so it's easier to say good-bye: 1) denial (it was just a bad day for them) then 2) anger (a phone call to management that resulted in a coupon for a free pizza) then 3) bargaining (oh, let's give them another chance we have a coupon) to 4) depression (saddened as I put yet another under baked pizza in the over) to 5) acceptance (yes, this pizza is now actually and literally crap no longer the pizza of yesteryear...) read more

We ordered delivery through Door Dash and it was very quick! The taco pizza was really good. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I paid almost $80 for three very small pizzas that were "large". Maybe I should have looked into it more before ordering about how many people each pizza would serve, but we ended up needing to order more to feed 4 adults and 3 kids. We were the only customers in the game room and the front dining room was about half full so not sure what was the back up. She said they didn't anticipate a rush on a Sunday. It was St. Patrick's Day so who eats pizza on St. Patrick's Day? It was also 1:30 so I think we were well past the noon rush. We have always liked their pizza but not sure about the wait. I came to try summit pizza during restaurant Week. Food was great and my server was amazing (cedar I believe) but, I was more disappointed in the managers. Very rude to their employees and honestly walked around just on their phones. The thin crust used to be crispy and tasty. It was neither. The traditional was not very good either. Pizza Hut would have honestly been better. Review on pick up/carry out experience - We choose Waldo Pizza because it has an option for Gluten-free crusts, breadsticks and also vegan mozzarella. We ordered over the phone and sent our men for pick up. They returned with our pizzas and I couldn't wait to dig in. I'd only been doing GF and vegan for a few weeks and I was craving bread and cheese. The gluten free breadsticks were so light and fluffy that I was afraid they weren't gluten-free. But they were just that good! For the pizza, I got a gf crust vegetarian. It had tons of veggies, a pesto sauce and vegan mozzarella. This was my first vegan cheese experience and it was delish. It was nicely browned and stretchy like the real stuff. The whole meal, breadsticks and pizza was fantastic. The only thing what wasn't great was the steep price, $16 for an 8in pizza and $2.50 for 2 breadsticks. That's an expensive personal size pizza. However I know gf is expensive in a restaurant because they have to go our of their way to ensure it's not in contact with any gluten products.
