We were visiting Burr Oak Woods and stopped for an early dinner at The Pizza Place. FUN interior with lots of movie and music posters. A little bit quirky. A little whimsical. We shared a salad and pizza. Both were very good. We choose the thin crust pizza w/Italian sausage, cream cheese, garlic, & mushrooms. Yum! The general manager waited on us and he was friendly and chatty. We also had the dessert flight which was 4 small samplings of different flavors of their moist cake. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant meal. If we lived closer, this would be a great hang-out. And it would be nice to try the original crust and some other ingredient combinations. I hadn't heard of this place until I met my parents here for dinner, and I'll definitely be back. The salad bar was a good deal, and one of the reasons we went. The pizza was pretty good too. My wife and I weren't super hungry so we just ordered a small cheese pizza to share between three of us. The food was all good but the service was just as good. It's a good place for kids. All of the employees were so nice while I was doing my best to keep my toddler from getting in everyone's way. I really appreciate their patience. Holllly shit!! Saw this place on the vegan kansas city facebook group and decided to give it a try, and it was seriously the best pizza I have ever had!! Everything was seasoned so well, the garlic bread was gooey and literally perfect with the ranch too. We got two pizza pockets, one veggie and one combo and didn't excpet them to be so huge (only 1 is shown because we ate the other too fast lol). The service at this restaurant isn't great. They have no hours posted on the door and we arrived for dinner at 7:30 on a Friday night. Turns out they close at 8. No one said anything when we arrived so once we had put in our order, they started shutting out the lights and standing by the door like they wanted us to leave so by the time our food came, we had about five minutes before close. We got boxes and left. It's pretty uncommon to close so early on a Friday so I wish they would've told us upon arrival as we would've gotten the food to go instead of paying a tip for massive awkwardness. The pricing was high for such a poor experience and we probably won't be back. Sad because I like to shop local and the food is good. read more

This place was definitely not what I was expecting, in a good way! This restaurant is a lot smaller on the inside than I thought it would be but gave it a more local feel. They had different cards on each table but my specific table had a logo card game which I thought was a very unique and fun add on! As far as the food goes, my mac and cheese bites were SO good! This place has a very close taste and price comparison to Minsky's, which I was a little disappointed in because I was looking forward to something different! I am an cook and my wife has been making pizza for over ten years, and we both love pizza. This place has one of the best pizzas we have ever had. Nothing super flashy just focusing on the art of pizza making. This place has an intriguing atmosphere with tons of things to look at, from movie posters, album covers, and sign pieces from various entertainers. I had the pleasure of Meeting the owner and manager while I waited as they were the only ones working after a major storm here in Blue Springs. Great guy and genuine kindness towards the patrons and his staff. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu.... But the Dragon Scales Appetizer was simply delicious. Went with the wife for the lunch buffet. We've been before, shortly after their opening, and were not impressed. However, we decided to try again since it has been nearly a year, hoping things had been resolved. Although the atmosphere is nice and the staff are pleasant, the complete lack of variety where the pizza buffet is concerned is my biggest complaint. At best, there were MAYBE 6 pizzas at the buffet. Unfortunately, it seemed there were regular and thin crust varieties of said pizza, so the selection was truly more limited than that. As far as the taste goes, it is very average. Tastes very similar to buffet pizza you'd get from Pizza Street or something comparable. BUT Pizza Street is $7/person and THE Pizza Place is $13/person. Not sure the price difference is really justified. I'd HIGHLY recommend t they do away with the arcade games they have taking up space to extend the buffet. read more

Food was cold, dry, and bland. Burnt garlic cheese bread made on a bun should not cost what they charge. Delivery driver was on the phone talking as she delivered the food and the order arrived later than quoted so I was not surprised it was cold. "Roasted chicken" is misleading. Heard good things about The Pizza Place so we decided to give it a shot. The place was very clean and decorated with a lot of framed smaller movie posters (80's & 90's). Table was clean as well as the floor...most places don't bother with the details. The pizza was good, I wouldn't say great but good. The only complaint is this place is EXPENSIVE for what you actually get. We had a med beef with black olives and mushrooms on 1/2 and it was a hair under $20. I think they charge you full coverage for extra toppings even though it's only on 1/2. A large one topping at another place will run around $6.99-$8.99, it's $20 here. Either way, value isn't there for what you get. Now the service is A+ and the place is well staffed, possibly over staffed with a lot of employees. The manager or owner tends to hover around and interact with your kids a little more than what seems normal, nice guy, friendly and witty just needs to limit the kid time some.
