First time in and WOW i was blown away on awesome this store is!! Wished i would have found this great store sooner. Picked up KC Strip steak for Christmas. I also got some of the hot chicken for lunch, fun crackers for another party and a snack mix too. They also have a liquor store next door that is combined with the meat market. Enter one door for both. There were 4 -6 employees behind the meat counter waiting to help me. I found a couple more employees asking if i needed help. So many great options for party food. I stopped in to just see what they have. I keep seeing the place when I drive by and just wanted to have a look around. It's quite small, but I'm eager to go back and check out more things, especially as we get closer to holidays (and PIE, because they had a lot of pies that looked very promising). I ended up just grabbing a hot sandwich combo from the back: burnt ends, spicy sauce with tomato/cucumber salad as my side and it comes with a can of pop. Everyone was SO friendly! I think every employee in the store might have said hello at least once haha. It wasn't just to me; they were friendly to everyone. There was a ton of meat on the sandwich and the sandwich was good. Their standard BBQ sauce that the meat is lightly dressed in is maybe not my favorite I've ever had. It had maybe a fruity flavor to it that wasn't my favorite. The spicy sauce doesn't taste that much different, but it does pack a bit of a punch. Now if you eat raging spicy things all the time, you'll be fine, but if you're not into spice, you probably will think it's pretty spicy. I really loved that cucumber salad. As a side, it was a huge portion and I liked how the pieces were nice and chunky. I'll definitely be back and try some other things and have a closer look around. The meat is top quality and they have some incredible sales depending on the week you go. They also have a great selection of other groceries from fresh produce, seasonings, sides, snacks, and drinks. You will get great service from the staff behind the counter to the checkout service. I've been watching this location go up over the past several months as I drive to and from my parent's house. Since they moved further south I've been amazed at all of the new development in this part of the metro and I was excited to know that a decent butcher would be opening along one of my well travelled paths. You never know when you might be in need of some quality meat! At any rate, I was housestiting for my parents and had my in-laws at home, visiting us for the week. It had been a busy few days and I hadn't had a chance to pick up supplies for dinner. I was trying to figure out when I could fit in stopping by a decent grocery store when I realized this place was now open and on my way home. Perfect. When you arrive there is still a good amount of construction along the west side of the building, which is a bit annoying when entering and exiting though from what I could tell this will be temporary, as it looks like once the adjoining neighborhood is done being built and the roads are all clear there will be another entrance. The day I visited it was midday and there weren't a ton of folks in the shop, though, it wasn't empty either. I took my time and walked around, a bit worried that I might not find everything I needed here. I was pleasantly surprised though, when they really did have everything for my steak dinner. In general this place has a really great butcher section, a small but mighty cheese display, some cold cases with essentials (think milk), and a few aisles with fun odds and ends. You'll find some specialty sauces, christopher elbow chocloates, and surprises sprinkled throughout as well. It's one of those shops that feels a bit curated and is fun to explore. The only real downside is that there is no outdoor cart return, so they almost expect that you won't purchase enough to merit outdoor cart use. Regardless, I enjoyed my stop here and I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Adorable. This place is like a small fancy grocery store from the 70's! Their meat selection is formidable, though I will say their grocery options seem strange and unnecessary. There's literally 10,000 grocery items in a meat market; far more grocery items than meat, so to me it's more of a market with meat in it. But of the meats, they have many. The prices aren't terrible either - unlike the one down off Main in KCMO, that place is providing meat for billionaires! I once saw a steak in there for $65. A strip! For $65! Who are you people? I picked up quite a few selections, and honestly I wasn't overwhelmed with quality. The Andouille they don't even make; it's bought from a supplier. More than a few things they buy from a supplier, so it's really a purveyor of fine meats more than the originator of the stuffs. But they have sales from time to time, and if you want you can get a tomahawk steak then get on your jet literally across the street - so that's been really nice for me. I know when I'm trying to find meat around my jet fuel, it's always been so hard. Not anymore though. Their registers threw me off though. Seemed too small to be big enough, and easily forgettable. Like an afterthought. Still, for the speciality item, I'll probably visit. It's right down the street, and they do carry lots of weird meat. It's good. Good place. Clean too. read more

Note: This incident occurred a few months ago. No issues with Fareway Meat Market - BUT I went into the Fareway Liquor Store and was treated VERY poorly. I went up to the register with my father who is clearly above age and myself (a 24 year old female), we had put our items down on the register. When the cashier looked at me and immediately stated "I need to see your ID." in a rude and condescending tone - I would like to note: Kansas law states: "Kansas has an exception permitting the furnishing by a parent or legal guardian to a child or ward" (even though I am of age) - I then showed the gentlemen at the front my ID and then proceeded to pay for the alcohol. I stated "it's a free world" when asked by my father why I paid for the alcohol he was intending to pay for. And the gentlemen at the front responded "for now." Which I took as a very rude and inappropriate response. Will not be returning here with my business ever again. Hire better people to sell your product. read more

This new meat market offered an extensive selection of meats, a small produce area, grocery items, a deli counter and a smokehouse BBQ counter on opening day. I tried a build-your-own sandwich ($6.99 for one meat with cheese and choice of toppings) from the deli. The sandwich was adequately sized with okay bread, fresh toppings and a good amount of tasty meat. Unfortunately, the slice of cheese was cut to a skimpy, razor thin depth - not cool. The deli offered an extensive selection of Boar's Head meats and cheeses. They also offered smokehouse BBQ. I found the service from each of the employees I encountered to be welcoming and helpful. The sandwich was just okay for the price, but the market had a great selection of meats and helpful service, so I'm bumping them up to four stars overall. read more

The grocery part of the store I will say is high priced for items that you can find cheaper elsewhere. But they do have some specialty items that you would not find elsewhere so just know that going into it. The real reason to go there is going to be the fresh meat counter and as well as prepare meat counter. They have a nice selection of various cut of meat, sausages, and seafood, especially if you were going to be grilling. As for the prepare food you can get various hot sandwiches as they cook/smoke their meat in store, including ribs. We got a couple of different items when we visited . The burnt end sandwich was good, tinder meat didn't have any fatty cuts and kind of had a sweet barbecue sauce that had a little bit of a kick on the back. You can group it together as a meal which comes with a drink in a side so we chose potato salad. The potato salad was good however it seemed to make one of us sick after eating it so not sure what that was all about. We also tried one of the sandwiches of the day which rotates from day-to-day. On this day, it was a turkey, ham, and cheese sandwich on marble rye bread. The meat was great and piled on as you can see that whole sandwich was less than $8 and definitely worth it. We also got a slab of ribs which they had on sale that week. The ribs were pretty good but fatty they didn't have as much of a smoke taste as you would think but overall not bad, not sure would be worth the $20 price given size but will try again when they're on sale. Overall service was nice. Everyone was polite and helpful so would definitely keep my eyes out on any meat sales. they may have in the future and I will stop by again. read more

It's nice to have a decent butcher near that house! I'll keep this short and sweet. Fareway opening up in Olathe has made my life so much easier. They have boars head for my sandwiches, which is great since the next closest place I've found is sprouts in OP. The meat selection has a wide variety of differ meat and cuts that I enjoy checking the prices each time I am there. They have great sales on cuts of meat that typically aren't for sale such has t bone and ribeye. Overall, it's a great place in my opinion In addition, they have a good selection of alcohol in the neighboring store. Not to mention that it's right next to the gas station I go to so it's easy to add it to my errand list. 4 out of 5 stars! read more

My neighbor had been championing Fareway Meat Market in the lead-up to its opening as they were from Iowa and apparently Fareway is a well known and well thought-of business from up yonder. And, I've gotta say, it hasn't disappointed. It can be a trick to get to currently as you have to turn in where the Casey's is off of 151st street and then go around it and behind to get there. There's ample parking all around the building, which is nice. But what's inside?! The North portion of the building is an excellently stocked liquor store with a great selection of bourbon, scotch, vodka, rye, tequila, rum, gin, beer, wine, etc, etc, etc. Notably, they have a digital kiosk perched on a barrel to sign up for monthly allocated liquor raffles. So if you're a bourbon hunter, it's definitely worth a stop. The South portion of the store is all the foods you really need. There's some great produce, higher end cuts of meat, pre-fabbed meal stuff, freezers with pizza and ice cream, and a few aisles of dry goods like chips, sauces, canned stuff, pellets for your smoker, bread, and tortillas. In short, this place is great and lives up to the hype. Being able to stop and either grab dinner or the stuff to make a quality dinner, plus libations, is really nice. It's also quicker and easier than trying to hit the grocery store and also go find the liquor store since they're a 2 for 1 deal here. Nice grocery selection too, but fairly limited due to the specialty nature of the store and size of store. They have a pre-made BBQ section where you can get hot or cold items as well. I've tried a few of their items like the ribs heated in my oven, and they've turned out good. If you are just looking for a fast lunch, they also will make sandwiches. For being a BBQ city, I feel like our meat market game has certainly been lacking. Fareway is a welcome addition to this area! read more

Let me just say, we purchased some of the best steaks ever from here! We happened to stop and caught a sale on Filets, and took a couple home and grilled them, and they melted in our mouth. So fantastic! We went back and got more for later. I love how quirky and fun this store is - they have a little bit of everything! The guys working in the butcher shop were great, the guys in the liquor store section were great as well. We also found our favorite wine there, so it's almost a one-stop shopping adventure for us now. read more

This place is my go to store for BRISKET, PORK BABY BACK RIBS and STEAKS. The beef tenderloin is trimmed better than anything I've purchased at Costco or Sam's. Still love both but... the protein offerings change frequently. I enjoy looking for what calls out to me to throw on the smoker. I highly Recommend. read more

Such a fun market that has a little bit of everything! The deli/meat market is full of delicious options for foods read to eat - some things that are new to me like the Ham Meatball. Just left the meat market fuming after standing at the meat counter for more than five minutes with no one else in line or around me! Three, not so lovely gentleman, looked at me and then continue on with their conversation and two of them walk to the back! Not a single one of them acknowledged my presence, asked me if I needed anything, literally nothing! Then you step over to the liquor side and they are absolutely wonderful. This was my second time going in to the liquor store and both times have just been amazing as far as customer service goes. I really wish that I could leave two completely separate reviews. Five out of five stars for the wine and spirit section. The meat market is clean, well organized, and has some pretty awesome offerings. I'm just beyond frustrated that I walked out of there without being able to try any of the actual meat products from the meat counter. My first time in, and I left completely disappointed. read more

When I went to pick them up, I was greeted by nearly every employee that I encountered asked me how it was the day was going, and if they could help me in anyway. Very sad the service is usually very good we were there Friday 8-1-23 waiting for help in the deli area and no one even looked up and acknowledged me so I went back over to meat dept side and asked the person behind the counter if he knew if they had beef jerky? He said I would have to go to the deli area ... I explained I was there and wasn't helped , he said sure just yell at them ..... I'm sorry I'm not going to interrupt someone. So he yelled across the market and asked someone. Very un professional! Then I went to the self checkout and had problems with my credit card scanning... evidently it goes into the machine upside down , who would of thought ‍the older lady that explained that was obviously not happy about having to help me .... Very disappointing service. I know it's a holiday weekend but really they were not as busy as usual. Super excited to have Fareway in our neighborhood! Huge high-quality meat selection, fresh produce, lots of products geared to the home bar b que warrior (rubs, sauces, wood chips, charcoal), gourmet cheeses, and regular grocery items including frozen foods and dairy. The selection is not huge (not like a mega Hyvee that personally gives me anxiety), but definitely a small neighborhood store that has a very friendly staff. They also serve fresh bar b que like burnt ends, pulled pork, and brisket, plus sides like beans and potato salad, all of which are restaurant quality. Haven't tried the deli counter sandwiches yet.
