Carrot cake latte- best coffee flavor I have had in a while. It was slightly sweet and had notes of the coffee beans flowing through each sip. The pastries were amazing! Get there early if you want a seat.
A small Mexican-style bakery located in the big business building on Metcalf and College. The muffin was delicious! The coffee wasn't my favorite but that doesn't mean it was bad. This was just my preference.
A friend of mine had been gate keeping this place from me, lol. I stopped in later that morning and ordered a Salted Caramel creme brûlée conchita, UMMMM.......DO NOT WALK, RUN and get you one of these!!!! The salted caramel candy crust on the top and the sweetness of the fulling this is an amazing treat!!
I'd tried a couple items from Aurora a while back when they were brand new and doing a pop up downtown Overland Park. I recently went to their location on College for the first time. Aurora is a husband and wife team. They make everything in house. The service is friendly and the bakery goods are delicious. The crème brûlée conchita is a must try as that is a unique item. The conchas all have flavored topping which is different than the typical Mexican bakeries I've been in the area. I also ordered a cold brew latte and the breakfast sandwich. That really hit the spot. The cold brew latte was great and the croissant was perfectly soft and flaky. The aioli really brought the sandwich up another level. I definitely recommend Aurora Bakery and look forward to returning!
Obsessed!!! Five stars all around! Incredible, special different unique food served up in the cutest little shop by super nice, helpful knowledgeable staff. We met the owners who are so sweet and they're just so passionate about what they do, which you can tell by the incredible food they serve. This was my first experience eating a Concha (hope I'm spelling that right.) they have several to choose from and all 3 we got were beyond words delicious!! Check out all my pictures- I recommend everything highly. Can't wait to go back here! My financial advisor is in this office building, and honestly I can't wait for my next meeting with him so I can stop at Aurora on my way- it's on the first floor level.
It took me way too long to get to @auroracafeandbakery in OP. It is rare that everything I order, I would order again....nothing was a miss with our order. We had the lemon concha, the crème brûlée concha, and the concha danish. All were very different but delicious. The crème brûlée is sweet, this would be a lot to eat alone but I understand why it is selling out every day. It has flavors you cannot get anywhere else. The lemon was refreshing and light and went perfect with my coffee. The danish was exactly what you think. It is dough and a sweet cream and some fruit perfect. As if that wasn't enough food, we also had the vegetarian croissant breakfast sandwich. The eggs and sun-dried tomatoes were great. My only note is that I would put chili crunch on it. They sell @jchang.kitchen chili crunch and it would be the perfect addition. Lastly, do not sleep on the chocolate chip cookie. It is so freaking good. It is soft and crispy all at the same time with great chocolate and salt on top.
tl;dr Aurora is a fantastic place for conchas that are a cut above average with plenty of unique offerings and variations as well. I've had Aurora on my list since it opened and I'm so glad I finally went. 8 am on a weekday morning and everything was still in stock. It was easy to park as well. It's on the ground floor of the BoK building and to the left after you enter. Service was good and friendly. I had a fair amount of stock standard pan dulce as a kid because of all the panaderías where I lived, and this bakery made me realize I've never had conchas so good. The fancier conchas are more expensive and the prices can add up, but I would eat this instead of a donut any day. The bread itself is fluffy and soft, surprisingly hardly sweet. The crunchy topping is sweeter but for the plain concha not as sweet as you'd expect. Jamaica/hibiscus ($3.50): Sweet, tart, delicious. Rol de canela/cinnamon roll ($7.50): Minor gripe is the slightly grainy cream cheese frosting, but the cinnamon roll is delicious. Peach horchata cold foam latte ($7): If you like the level of sweetness of a Starbucks frappé, this is for you. I liked it. Crème brûlée ($5.50) with salted caramel (+$0.75): The hard sugar shell reminded me of kettle corn. Perfect for salty and sweet lovers (or caramel popcorn lovers). Limón/lime ($3.75): My personal favorite. I loved the subtle lime flavor.
Oooomg this was insane. We were staying at a nearby hotel over the weekend and drove here for the vegetarian breakfast sandwich. The inside is so little and adorable, the staff was SO sweet and the food was absolutely delicious. The pastries were absolutely beautiful and I'll have to come back for those! I really really enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast sandwich.

This place is AMAZING! Everything was so delicious and doughy. Take the pan dulce to heart. My partner and I grabbed the cinnamon roll, the viral crepe brûlée concha, sprinkle concha, and danish. We only finished the cinnamon roll and crème brûlée in store. Can't wait to finish the other two! The cafe de olla is delicious and could be drank black (which as a coffee snob and lover of cream is crazy for me to say). The cold brew was also delicious. The owners are so amazing and have such a delicious business. The offerings of baked goods and sandwiches is so nice to have for options for everyone. The store was so welcoming and the quiet music in the background was the perfect volume. Highly recommend this bakery!
I've been craving this one since I went. The bakery items are SO good. Located in the Darth Vader building, this bakery has got hot breakfast items and pastries that will make your eyes go all the way up in surprise on how good they are. I got the salted caramel injected pastry and the breakfast sandwich, along with a caramel latte. They don't have espresso so it was a cold brew coffee with flavoring, but it was still good. There are a lot of cute items to buy as well.

They have a different menu on saturdays so I didn't get to try what I wanted but the veggie breakfast sandwich was amazing! The croissant was super buttery and the aioli really made the whole thing pop with flavor. Their creme brûlée concha was delicious with a vanilla bean inside. I have to come back to try their coffee options as well as some other concha flavors. Staff was quick to get orders placed and out to you!
This is such a unique and fun find!! It is hidden inside an office building on the first floor. If you go through the main doors of the building, then take a left you will see the entrance. inside they have a counter of bakery items, a kitchen, seating, and a little area to shop at. All of the bakery items looked delicious! I got the chocolate chip cookie with sea salt on top and it was 10/10. to drink i ordered the peach horchata latte which was also outstanding! i think that is what they are most known for! The breakfast sandwich was another thing that tasted great. The staff was friendly and told me that a bunch of people came in this week due to a viral video on tiktok! I highly recommend trying this hidden gem and tasting some or all of their pastries

Went to Aurora Cafe and Bakery with my work friends! I was not disappointed with my concha danish and hibiscus Arnold Palmer. Everything was delicious- not to sweet but sweet enough. This little cafe is so cute- not much seating but still cute and the service was impeccable as it was last time I came in! read more

Stopped by Aurora for breakfast with friends and LOVED everything. If you live in OP and love conchas, this place is IT. TBH, I've never been a big fan of conchas before coming here, but I LOVED them here. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast sandwich and it was incredible. I got to try 3 different conchas - all were delicious, but the danish style one was my favorite. The crème brûlée one was good, but VERY sweet. Don't wait on this one! read more
Adorable little bakery that I only had five minutes to stop in and grab a sweet treat. It was worth the detour as the Creme brûlée conchita was delicious! I opted for salted caramel filling but now I want to go back to try the vanilla. So yummy! The people working there were very friendly. The cafe was clean. This is the cutest little cafe and bakery! Some friends of mine stopped here on their way to another event last month. Their experience (particularly the sandwiches) was so remarkable that they kept talking about it all day! One of the gals even ordered a dozen of the pastries for the following Saturday. (That's saying a lot because these folks live about an hour away!) Anyhow, everyone who helped me was so kind and friendly! I had the breakfast sandwich with egg which was perfection! I also got the pan Dulce conchita - SO good! The atmosphere and decorations are adorable. This would be a great place to meet a friend for coffee, lunch, and/or pastries! read more

I enjoyed the cheerful service, pleasant dining area and tasty sandwich during my dine-in lunch at this new restaurant, which is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. They are located inside the BOK Financial Tower. The turkey sandwich ($12) was nicely sized and stood 2" tall with plenty of turkey on fresh focaccia bread. I found the dining area to be clean and nice with fresh flowers on the tables, background music and plenty of natural light. The Mexican-inspired menu included sandwiches and salads. They also offered baked goods, coffees, bottled beverages and chips. The price seemed high for lunch, so I'm going with 3.5 stars and rounding up for the quality ingredients and first-rate service. read more

NEW to Overland Park a husband & wife owned cafe, just opened and is the new must try in the city. I love seeing a Mexican inspired cafe in the metro south of I-70. You can get your favorite pastries, but don't skip the Pan Dulce aka "sweet bread." And if you need lunch...they have amazing sandwiches too. Everything was fresh and made with at least 30% whole grain, locally milled flour. The cold brew is made with Cafe Corazan coffee. Located in the BOK financial tower off College Blvd & Metcalf. Great little family-owned spot on the ground floor of the "Darth Vader building". Today I just got a half sandwich for lunch (pickled pimento w/ turkey) on this fluffy focaccia bread. The Turkey & Manchego is also not to be missed. Bakery items are a go-to for breakfast (even on Saturdays) and now they have breakfast burritos on Caramelo tortillas! read more

This place is a hidden gem! There is plenty of parking in the BOK lot right in front of the cafe. Seating inside is limited but the space is bright and welcoming. The pastry selections are plentiful, and the croissant I tried was fantastic. They have a good variety of coffee syrup options (including sugar free which you don't always see). I tried the seasonal peppermint cold foam cold brew with sugar free vanilla, and it may be my favorite drink I've had this season. Great find! read more

This is my 3rd visit to Aurora cafe and bakery and it never disappoints. Located in the BOK financial building on the first floor. Everything is fresh and made local - make sure to try this place the chefs are amazing and the food is impressive. read more
