My wife and I went to Pita Jungle in Gilbert at about noon on Sunday, August 14th. The lady behind the bar appeared mean and angry. She snarled to us "two?" That's all she EVER said to us. She then grabbed two menus, walked to a table, SLAMMED the menus down on the table and walked away. She never even looked at us, let alone greet us and welcome us. We then sat down and waited over ten minutes for ANYONE to acknowledge us in ANY way. We got up to leave, but before we walked out, I mentioned all this to a young man who was also behind the bar. He couldn't have cared less. He said 'yeah, we're busy' -- but they were NOT busy. In fact, when we walked into the restaurant, we mentioned to each other how un-busy they were because they usually are very busy on Sunday at lunchtime. We're eaten here MANY MANY times, but this experience has truly soured us for Pita Jungle. Too bad, too, because I love their hummus with ahi. I doubt I'll ever go back. read more

Pita Jungle is my favorite restaurant in the area. I went again last night with my brother who had never been. We started with the baba ganoush that came with pita bread and it was excellent! I had the fire roasted veggie wrap that came with a side salad. I could only eat half. Yummy. My brother had a fish dish that came with pita chips. He ate everything and really liked it. We didn't have room for dessert. When the check came my brother offered to pay and commented that the price was very reasonable (he's cheap btw). Great food and service. I'll be back! read more

I have loved Pita Jungle's food and service for many years. Tonight, however, I was disappointed. I ordered a takeout order. It was ready on time, which was great. The staff was pleasant and the service was fast. I took the meal back to my workplace and was surprised to find a few things not as expected. First of all there were no napkins or utensils. Good thing I had a spoon handy! Then I was surprised that my gluten free pita (which I usually love) had not even been a tiny bit warmed up. Every time I've eaten this meal inside the restaurant it has been served warm. Since I picked up the order exactly when it was ready I have to assume that it was never warmed up. My last comment is not specific to this restaurant but to the food service industry in general. In the years since Covid struck, it has been shocking to see how ludicrously high prices are. It was discouraging to find that the one app I got was almost $20. Not too many years ago this same thing used to cost me about $8. Why has it become the norm to raise prices so high and to keep them there, making it almost impossible for everyday people to enjoy a simple meal out without breaking the bank? I was so excited to dine in here and enjoy some Mediterranean food. It was a Friday night and the place was pretty busy inside. I give this place 5 stars when it comes to customer service. Our server and everyone else who helped us was so nice. The people seem to love working here. They all had great energy. The food was where it was lacking and I was super disappointed. I love hummus and all the Mediterranean food so had really high hopes. We ordered a trio of hummus to try for starters. I wasn't a fan of any. They were lacking flavor completely. I ordered chicken which came with rice. My chicken was over cooked, way too dry and the rice was very bland. My kids got kids meals and they said theirs was okay. I've been coming to pita jungle for over 20 years and at every location the food is hit or miss and the service is hit or miss. It just seems to be the company culture. Lots of annoyed looking college students who don't care to bring a drink a refill. Decided to skip dealing with the service and order take out tonight. When the food is good, it's amazing. Tonight was not one of those nights. We order a side of potatoes and they were disgusting. It was like eating cardboard. My husband said they were the worst potatoes he'd ever had in his life. The extras that we ordered on our entrees were non existent and when I said something to the person I picked up from, she told me I was wrong. On the upside, the pizza was delicious. The wrap my husband ordered was also delicious and enormous, but completely fell apart. The hummus was smashed into a tiny container so there was no way to actually enjoy three distinct flavors, it was just all one flavor. The kids meal was a disappointment and usually my kids like it. Very disappointing. I use to love Pita Jungle and hopefully it was just this one that was not so good. The hummus was just ok. The Greek salad was a lot of lettuce. Yes there were some tomatoes and cucumbers plus black olives and a Little cheese. The dressing was boring what little there was of it on the salad. My husband found onion on his falafel sandwich. He can't eat them and ithat ruined his appetite. The other 2 meals were about the same. Food is always tasty, healthy & fresh but I was surprised in their lack of customer service tonight. Pita Jungle sent me some coupons on Facebook and then they didn't want to honor them for take out. 2 of the 4 coupons said they were for dine in only but the other 2 didn't state that and I had previously used one of the 2 for take out before with no issues. Even asked to speak with the manager and she wouldn't honor their coupon. As good as the food is it left a bad taste in my mouth. The building was a little cold for my wife, so we asked if they could turn the a/c off or adjust it to not blow the entire time. I thought it was fine. So if sensitive to the cold maybe bring a jacket. Service can seem slow at times. My water was never refilled. The Mediterranean chicken salad had corn which is the most America produce there is. The wraps are open on both sides so everything falls out. We finally had to take out food to go because it was too cold for my kid and wife. Kevin - I don't see a way to comment back to you, so I will just add to my original post. We did ask our server to adjust the air three times and yet it was blowing old the entire time. And the double open ended wrap is just an odd way to wrap something you are to pick up and eat. I am not going to complain about it. I'm just informing others so they know for their reference. I do not write reviews to get a free meal. I write to inform. I don't paid from Yelp or Google. I just enjoy using those services to find places, so I give back to those communities by posting my experience. If you want a better customer service focus on the food, staff and the time customers are there. I think I saw you at the restaurant, you did not brother to check up on anyone while I was there. I don't know what it is about this location but they are TERRIBLE!! A continuous hot mess. We went again tonight to pick up food after ordering online. Every time we order from here, we expect issues. They can't find the order, they forget food, we've waited 45 mins for curbside after they collected our order info only to have to go get it from the pickup counter instead, etc etc. Tonight, they couldn't find our order in their system, again. When they did find it, they forgot an entree, again. Then when we get the entree, it's half the size it normally is. The entree is smaller than the cheese crisp box! We've had issues ordering from them directly online AND DoorDash. You'd think by now we'd stop going there but pita jungle's food is my favorite and this location is closest to us. My wife and I have been visiting Peta Jungle since they opened their location on Apache Drive and visiting this location for years now as our family settled in Gilbert. I've read that everyone and everything will disappoint you in time but today was a new low. 1. They gave me the wrong order for take out I drive 6 miles home find its a bad order the staff requests the food back after its been in our house? That's a new twist as I've cooked in places and once it leaves the kitchen it does not come back into the business? Makes me wonder why the hell would they want it back for? We didn't touch the food but man its strange. I come back (12 miles) they didn't remake the food and so its cold and soggy you know what? IDGAF at this point. I am done because the total lack of customer service and complete and total indifference to the customer. If apathy needed an example the customer service I got would be an excellent example. Now lets get to the food, the salad my wife ordered is so chopped it could be mistaken for a variety of Cole slaw she is completely disappointed as we have been giving this business 20 years of our support. During the worst of the Pandemic we made sure we ordered out and often from Pita Jungle because I wanted to make sure they still be around. Now my order of the Turkey Pesto Lavash Wrap (picture included). I asked for no red onions and no red tomatoes replace it with zucchini. I think the kitchen staff looked at the order and said screw that person he gets triple the amount of onions and we are going to smash the shit out of it. This isn't burger king, you either get it our way or you don't get it at all. After two bites its in the trash. I wrote a review a few years ago and the owner wrote me back and said thank you it means a lot to me that you keep showing up with your wife and family. I feel bad writing this as a ex-cook I've gotten orders wrong and remade the meal or I had the wait staff ask me to please remake this as they forgot about order and its cold. I would always remake that because its only the last meal people remember and I was taught this. Its never the we got it right 99% of the time. So should I let this go this one time. No way, because management does not know what the going on in the kitchen or at this location. I know there is a group manager whom is going to read this and think what the total F#$! happened. What I got was flavorless diced chicken with mozzarella cheese melted on top, over a bed of overcooked (almost burnt) peppers and onions and crunchy- undercooked- flavorless rice. I added salt but couldn't get over the crunch of the rice so I didn't eat it. This was not chicken schwarma... I don't know what it was but melted mozzarella on schwarma?? The hummus and pita bread unfortunately weren't much better. The pita bread was cold and brittle; the hummus had way too much garlic; that our breath could probably scare away a dragon. Food was good as always. Problem as mentioned in other reviews is how ice cold it is to be seated inside. Like uncomfortably cold. It was a rainy windy day and I overheard a few tables ask if they could turn up the heat. Staff response was I have to ask the manager to when you get your food it will warm you up. You could tell who the manager was because she was wearing capris and a t shirt. So basically the answer was no. Everyone had to be uncomfortable for the good of the manager. Guests kept wearing their heavy jackets if they had them to combat the cold. One guest got a blanket out of their car for their lap. Staff and kitchen staff wearing sweatshirts despite working their butts off. This is the third time dealing with this so next time we will get food to go. read more

Ate here for the second time today and had the superb Derek as our server. Hubby and I have tried the Philly, black bean burger, garlic potatoes, hummus trio, and turkey burger special. Holy flavor explosion! I was not a huge fan of either burger(two different visits), primarily because I am not a big onion person and that is a distinct texture and flavor. Due to the sauces and lettuce with dressing on the turkey burger, I would say that it had a bit more taste to it. My husband really liked his Philly pita and the garlic potatoes and hummus trio were wonderful. The small hummus plate was still huge and filling. We did need to order 2 extra pitas to finish it. Waitresses look over worked and are missing the other part of their job, making sure people aren't needing refills are anything else. I have yet to meet a dish I didn't like at Pita Jungle. And I am deeply in love with their jalapeño cilantro hummus, but honestly all three varieties of hummus are stellar. I always lean toward the schwarma pita because it is simple but delicious but they have many other great dishes as well as really good seasonal choices. With a Mediterranean theme complemented by their own unique twists, I will always say yes to this place. I've been coming to this Pita jungle for years. I should've done a four or five star review when I first started here since the food and service was almost always amazing. Not sure why I didn't. I'm pretty sure my hands were probably full as a single mom. I had to write this review because the last several orders I've received from the store has been less than appealing. At times it feels as though their portion sizes have been significantly reduced, and their prices have also gone up. The straw that broke the camels back for me tonight was I had to do a DoorDash order (not feeling well) and my tuna was offensively overcooked. When you order a seared tuna, as described on the menu, and it comes overcooked it's unappealing. And with the amount of money that you spend not only for the items regular price, but the additional fees Doordash charges it's extra disappointing. Pita jungle can we please go back to five years ago when your service was great and your cooks knew what they were doing in the kitchen? Tonight was my first time trying this spot and I was pretty impressed. I got the pesto turkey wrap and it came with a little fresh Mediterranean salad. It was really fresh and tasty. The pesto with Swiss and turkey was satisfying in each bite, and the quantity of food was perfect for a full meal or great to eat half and save the other half for later. The staff were friendly to me and my to-go order took about 8 mins from order to food in hand. While I didn't dine in, the dining room did feel like it was welcoming and comfortable.
