Let me start with what most people want to see. The food is very good, but the wings are the best. I'm a wing nut. (I don't mean like the thing that goes on a bolt. I mean I love wings.) The wings here are phenomenal. They aren't Buffalo wings, per se. The sauce is more a blend of Buffalo and BBQ. It is good. But what really makes them great is that they are flash-fried and grilled. That means that they stay moist. Just trust me. I'm a chubby boy which means I know my food. (The burgers and steaks are good, too, but I can't rate those like I can rate the wings. As they say in the south, the wings will want to make you slap yo' momma! Of course, please don't actually slap your mother. That is not nice.) Now let's talk atmosphere. This isn't a crowded college bar where you go to find a hookup. This is a nice wholesome place where you can have a conversation without feeling pressured to keep buying drinks to keep the party going. The bartenders tend to be 50+ which means that they are there because they know how to make drinks and not for their looks (not that they are ugly, but you know what I mean). Even though there is a quiet atmosphere, there are 10 televisions and they will play whatever you want them to play for you (so long as they have access to the channel). If you're watching a NY team, they will likely cheer right along with you. If you look at my history of reviews, you'll see that it is rare that I give 5 stars. That has to be earned. Use to be a go to spot, though now it's just stereotypical bar food. So I stopped coming but decided to try it again. Ordered for pickup. Yelp says 8.95 for a chicken wrap but I remember it being 13.01 because I would always make sure to have exactly that. Get there and was charged 17.49 for the same exact dish that use to be 13.01. No added fries or anything, exactly the same. Looked at a picture of a menu on here that was uploaded a year ago and it says it 12.95. I guess they increased their prices by 4.50$. Food was mediocre, was hoping to pick this spot back up as a weekly spot but nope the search continues. Maybe I'll try again in a few years. read more

This place is my favorite place. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is incredible and they have specials you cannot find anywhere in the city. I listed my favorites below. Wednesday night steak special $22 -20oz ribeye with salad, potato, crispy onions, and vegetables. And the steak is delicious rivaling some of the best steakhouses in the area. After great discussion outside of the restaurant, we decided to go in and try the "new" Pipin's across from the Foodtown. We hadn't been in Pipin's for many years and my husband and I were both hesitant about how the quality of food would be. First, the restaurant is very dark inside and awkward layout. But, whatever...we knew we were going out for fine dining. Server was a little cold at first, but slowly warmed up and became quite nice. Our experience with the food quality...delicious...my husband had a cheddar burger, which was cooked exactly as he ordered. I had the 9 ounce shell steak, which was also cooked exactly as I ordered. It was actually, surprisingly delicious. Charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside. The steak came with a house salad (very fresh), side of potato of your choice (I had the mashed potatoes - yes they were real) and broccoli (a little too salty). Everything was up to par and well worth the visit. We would definitely go back, as it is still as we remember the original Pipin's so long ago...maybe even a little better. Had lunch there today with friends we were a total of eight senior citizens they put us in a small hot room we could barely move when we asked to be moved up front they gave us a hard time. We did not feel welcomed when we first arrive there were only six of us they told us if the other two did not show up for a table of eight we will have to pay for eight people. The hamburgers were good the waitress was very nice but she also refused to give us separate checks. We go for lunch every Thursday each restaurant we've gone to they have given us separate checks without complaining. I would never go back to this restaurant nor would I recommend it. If you enjoy a hamburger go to skin Flint the service and atmosphere is 100% better and people are kind. read more

Great place. An institution in the neighborhood for the magnificent burgers, wings and fantastic bartenders and clientele.

A friend recommended Pipin's and of course we had to come. Not to mention that I live around the neighborhood and was surprised that I never went or heard of this spot. My bf got a jack sour and I ended up getting the same thing. I'm not really a whiskey person, but the drink was so good I ended up really enjoying my drink. It was strong, but with the sour mix it was just a perfect balance of flavor. Once we were sitting down, we were convinced to get their cheddar cheese burger with cheese on the fries. I'm so glad I listened to their recommendation because their burger was delicious! It is served in a panini roll and I have to say that the bread was crunchy and such a perfect combination with their burger. I have to admit that I am not a burger person and am very picky when I eat burgers, but this place definitely does it for me. They give a little bit of fries with it, but the portion is perfect for the meal. I also don't know what type of cheddar cheese they use, it's different from other cheeseburgers, but it just hits the spot. As far as service, no complaints. Our waitress was very nice and came to our table everything we needed anything. I will definitely be coming back for some more Pipin's. read more

My favorite burger in bayridge! May even be one of my favorite burgers period. Delicious, juicy cooked perfect every time I go. I'll be honest I was a little worried when they moved locations but they are still consistently the best burger for me. Even their chicken tenders are fantastic. Their burgers make me not want to barbecue ever. Every time I think about going to get burgers for the grill I say why and do the smart easy delicious thing and head over to Pipins Pub. I walked by this place many times, and for some reason I never felt the urge to go. Then the establishment started following me on Instagram and I took a look at their profile and their food looked delish. So last night, my boyfriend and I were starving but didn't feel like cooking so I said let's try Pipin's! Upon arrival the server told us the kitchen was going to close in five minutes. We promised to decide quickly. So we both chose the steak sandwich, however, it was the first thing that jumped out on me as I didn't really read the menu thoroughly as I was rushing. It looked good, but next time I'll try to get there before 9:50 on a Tuesday lol. The sandwiches came out, and they were soooo good. The bread smelled delicious, and the steak was perfectly medium rare, and the cheese was so melty. The fries were steak cut and delicious. My boyfriend got mashed potatoes so I was using his gravy to dip my fries in (yum!). Service was pretty good. He was friendly and efficient, no complaints whatsoever. My only suggestion would be to have a beer list. The server was great to list them off, however, I kept forgetting what they had. My now go-to spot that's like three blocks from my house! read more

A longtime Bay Ridge landmark, Pipin's has decent pub food and its a nice place for that far end of the neighborhood --especially because down that way, bar choices start to peter out. Lots of folks swear by it. Clean decor; cozy furnishings, prompt service. Overall the whole experience is fine. No major complaints. Pipin's is probably most infamous in Bay Ridge because they serve their burgers on 'ciabatta' rolls which is their special 'way' of doing it. Some people adore this; I myself would wish for a standard burger bun--just matter of personal preference. Anyway. The one primary observation about Pipins which ought to be mentioned--the one thing I can say about it--the one very spooky aspect to the place--is that its a devoted METS bar. Like, bizarr-o, otherworldly, alternate-dimension, Mets reality, some strange fantasy landscape where the Mets are really the true #1 New York team and recognizing the New York Yankees never occurs, at all. The baseball chatter is just not like normal MLB chatter you overhear in the rest of the neighborhood. The crowd at Pipin's on baseball nights-- is somewhat disgruntled. Stewing in their own juices. Most of the night you will hear only grumbling or muttering; but then occasionally someone will spout something just so far out there, like, the weirdest sports gibberish you've ever heard. Typical example: "Mannn...eh! (groan) That Derek Jeter ..y'eah, he's the worst of the lot..hypocrite...what a fraud..most over-rated player in baseball..fraud...yeah..yup..uh-huh...I hear you...look at his actual numbers, that says it all.." All the regulars lined up all down the bar, will sit there nodding their heads vigorously. And the bartender--a huge, giant, ape of a man--will slowly look around the bar to see if anyone dares to disagree. Ha. Mets fans in this part of Brooklyn perhaps congregate and conspire here in secret, plotting their dastardly revenge against the Yankee Universe. Hushed voices, drawing diagrams and schematics on their napkins, occasionally mentioning something like, "Well Mulvaney--you know--Jerry's oldest boy--he works there--he told me he knows the fix is in! He saw the signals being passed around!" If you're there with your friends, you might not really notice this so much. But I was there as apparently-- a lone Yankee fan--and I definitely felt chilly. Pipin's Pub is a quaint Irish bar on the bustling street of 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge. Upon walking in you are visited with a decent bar area with TV's surrounding and they have a small dining area in the back. They are known for their burgers and ale specials. Went here last night and we started with the half-rack of baby back ribs, which were good not the best I have had. Enough for three people to share, but order the full-rack if you have more dining companions or you are ravenous. I had the French Onion soup which wasn't that good, the broth was too tangy for my taste and it just didn't have enough gooey cheese to satisfy my taste. The best thing to order here is the burgers, they are cooked perfectly with great tasting meat. They have a huge selection, but they will also make a burger however you choose. They are served with french fries which were very tasty...they are potato wedges not the usual fries but really good. Also served with NY's finest pickle. If in fact you have been an avid customer of Pippins and order 3 to 4 times a week why WOULD you continue to order. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and based on your constant ordering from Pippins you should of given then a pass. COVID has been very difficult on these restaurants. If you had any shed of compassion or courtesy you would of not written this review. It is apparent that you must know the owners. You should of given them the courtesy of a phone call. I am sure they would of handled the situation and made sure you were taken care of. When I heard Pipin's was going to close, I had to finally get off my lazy ass and try one of their burgers. For years I've heard nothing but good things. I had come here once before with the intent to, but there was a 20-30 min wait and I'm as impatient as it gets. So I get here on a Saturday and I was promptly handed a menu and that I looked at for about two seconds because I had already knew what I wanted; A Pipin's Burger, which is a 10oz Beef burger, Bacon, and cheese. Pair that with a draft beer and I was set. The burger lived up to my expectations. It was juicy and flavorful. The bacon was cooked just right too, which is not a given nowadays. The one thing I noticed they do differently is their bun. Instead of a regular seeded hamburger bun, they serve the burger on what appears to be a roll. Its thick on the bottom and thin/crispy on top. It compliments the burger well. The fries that came with it were good too. Thick, but still crunchy, and they were homemade. The service was fast, and the food was good. As for as drinks go, they had about 6 or 7 beers on tap, numerous bottled beers and a full bar with a ton of drink specials. All in all my bill was $25 for the burger and 2 drafts. Not bad. If you're in the neighborhood, hit up Pipin's before they close down. read more
