Love this place. Nothing much has changed since my first review. However, the last few times I've been here, my stomach has felt terrible for a couple of hours after each meal. The place/ambiance: it's in Culpeper, VA. I don't think there was any other reason I would have ever gone to this quaint town if we had not needed a place to go for lunch. Someone suggested Thai food and Pinto Thai came up. It's great for groups, they accommodated our group of 12 by having us seated in close proximity to each other. The place was not that busy when we arrived around 1:30 PM. The staff: Friendly and attentive. We were a loud bunch and they were kind towards (and possibly amused by) us. I think what stood out to me was how one of our servers came around in the end to ensure we each had a bag for our leftovers. The food: Thai food is hard to mess up, right? And they didn't mess it up, in fact I think it was quite good given the extensive menu they have. I had the classic Pad Thai with tofu - the flavor I was looking for was all there. It was not too salty and I think they already squeezed some lime on it (I didn't have to ask for more! I really like the citrus kick) Everyone else seemed to enjoy their dishes too (everything from soft-shell crab specials to Massaman Curry, I think someone just wish it was more spicy). This place has really good prices for the quality and size of food you receive. I've been here for both lunch and dinner and I highly recommend giving it a try. The Panang curry here is really really good and the pad thai is refreshingly simple. The noodles are a bit thin but the portion size is titanic. The drunken noodles are how they should be, full of basil flavor as well as spicy. The salad is a bit strange and I didn't eat any more than a few bites but other than that, I highly recommend coming here and giving it a shot! The Masaman curry is a bit sweet for my tastes but c'est la vie. The only complaint that I have of this business is that on the menu it's nigh impossible to find the prices of anything. If i'm not mistaken its $9 for lunch and $12 for dinner for your basic proteins. Which in retrospect is a fantastic bargain. Definitely give this place a shot! read more

Ok so first of all I love Thai food. I've seen a handful of Thai places, not all are good. This one is great... and adorable! I stopped here with a coworker after work randomly. We don't live around here but we were pleasantly surprised. Decor is on point, very cute and cozy ...and the meals came out looking beautiful. Unfortunately I was too hungry and forgot to take a pic of the meal, only have pics of the appetizers. However everything was delicious. No complaints and the service was fast and great. Chose this place based on Yelp reviews. Wow, what a disapointnent. The atmosphere was great, the menu was the prettiest menu I have ever seen and so much to choose from! BUT... the food, I would not even describe as mediocre. I ordered the crispy chicken and there wasn't anything crispy about it. It was tasteless, didn't even look like real chicken. Our food was out VERY quickly, no way it wasn't pre-prepared. The service may have been the most unfriendly I have ever had. I was so disappointed and the bill was outrageous for the service and quality we received. $70 for a nearly inedible lunch for 2 and we drank water! Makes me wander how all these reviews are legit. Zero question, best pit stop we've ever made. We decided to stop in for a quick drink in their well stocked bar. We got a Long Island, raspberry fizz and a Jack and Coke. When we opened their huge menu, our tummies grumbled so we needed to grab a bite. We ordered the massaman curry with shrimp and chicken, the ramen see aw with shrimp, and the green curry salay. 11/10. We're visiting family in Fredericksburg and may suffer the drive to come out here for a fantastic dinner again before we leave. My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner while we were staying in the area over the weekend. The menu was extensive and there were a lot of options. The food was amazing and the portions were generous. There were a lot of people in the restaurant (it is clearly popular) but luckily we had no wait for a table at 7:45p on a Saturday and the service was excellent with several people coming by to ask for orders, ask if we needed anything, etc. There was almost no wait time whenever we wanted to order anything. We love this restaurant so it's disappointing to give this review. The food is phenomenal and historically, the service has been very good. But the last few times, the service has not been good; honestly, it's been bad. Staff is not as friendly (oddly as it's the same people), we were seated and waited several minutes before anyone stops by to take drink order. Then we had to wait to order food. Food was delivered to the table, hot and delicious but then no one came back. We wanted another round of drinks but nope- no one came by. Authentic and delicious Thai food. Some of the best we have ever had. The food is fresh and the service is quick. The staff is great, and they have seasonal dog-friendly outdoor seating. If 0 stars were a thing I would definitely give this restaurant one. From the moment me and my siblings sat down we were rushed. The waitress was basically hovering over us and watching us eat the whole time, then there was other staff coming out to look at us too, specifically a bald headed man who waited until we left. My brother and got mad about the service and left but other than that we didn't make any scene whatsoever for us to be watched so intently. To be charged what we were charged for the food AND HAVE HORRIBLE SERVICE is ridiculous. They tried to charge us a party of 6 when it was just the five of us, she stood behind us trying to calculate the bill with the bald headed guy there, the kicker is we came from out of town and saw great reviews for this place and were treated so poorly. They didn't do this to ANYONE ELSE who sat outside, maybe it's because we are black or maybe out of towners are treated differently at this restaurant but we WILL NEVER COMEBACK HERE AGAIN. I stopped in for lunch this week to try the new & improved Pinto Thai. They used to be Thai Culpeper, but now they've moved & renamed themselves. I wanted to give them a try with their new business venture & I'm so glad I did. They have lunch specials, so I chose the drunken noodles. It came with a salad (not sure what the dressing was, but it was good!), wonton soup, a crispy spring roll, and the drunken noodles. All of the portions were plentiful and the service was good. I sat at a seat in the window, which was nice for people watching. I will absolutely be back and would also get it to-go. read more

I've been searching for an authentic Thai Restaurant since I moved to the area (about 3 years ago). I am very picky since I've actually been to Thailand and compare dishes to what I had there. So when I see a Thai restaurant, I immediately check to see if their menu even has crispy pork belly (my favorite Thai dish) on it so as not to waste my time. I was surprised and excited to see that Pinto Thai had this dish as well as other familiar faves of mine. What we had: Thai iced tea, dumplings sampler, crispy pork belly, drunken noodles with pork and custard with sticky rice. All the dishes ordered were delicious and got plenty of food. Lastly, the hostess and staff were friendly and courteous. I appreciated their awareness to preventing COVID; there were bottles of hand sanitizer at tables and acrylic sheets to separate tables. Also liked the ambiance of the restaurant and decor. Looking forward to returning and trying out many more of their dishes on their menu. read more

As someone who's only started eating Thai cuisine in the last few years, I claim Pinto Thai as my favorite. My daughter is a regular and probably eats in or gets carry out at least twice a week. She came home with dumplings one day, and now I'm a dumpling junkie. My favorite is the wasabi. I really enjoy all the appetizers, wonton soup, and Thai iced tea. My husband is a big fan of the spicy lava rice. Cocktails are high octane for those of you that like an adult beverage. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. I am really impressed with all the donations they make to the community. Interior is very clean and decor is fun.
