BUT I want a wine shop to have ambiance and make the experience memorable. The lady working had ZERO personality. Disappointing experience to say the least. We bought several bottles and left.

It was created with a deep thoughts of families with kids and they pay attention to the smallest details to make your presence as comfortable and stress free! As a small example they put free diapers in the bathroom ! We were the first clients there, so I had a chance to take pictures without other people on it but it got filled pretty quick. First thing to tell ( and the reason we came) was a bunch of kids activities & farm animals. It totally worth an hour drive ( for me) !They have plenty of slides& swings, zip line, outdoor& indoor games, small souvenir shop and indoor playroom with AC. You can feed the goats ( they sell food for $ 5 glass and only $1 refill) , that was my daughter favorite part! All animals ( dogs, pigs, chickens and a lot of goats) are very friendly and well cared for. BEER&FOOD: We had a flight to get familiar with their beer and then ordered the one we liked ( I choose Red) . The food and ice cream are provided by food trucks( you have to get it yourself) and it becomes available starting 12PM . Portions are generous, food is a bit overpriced. As I understood the food trucks are changing, so there is no fixed menu. TIP: Dont come hungry if you are picky in food, as outside food is not allowed and there is only 1 food truck. Overall , we enjoyed our visit, but the day was too hot , and even taking to account the fact of having fans in there, it was too hot for us to stay long. We will definitely come back during the autumn time when is cooler to fully enjoy all activities they have to offer.

Dog friendly & family friendly. Lots of locals were constantly dropping by, and all seemed to be on a first-name basis with the staff. Rogers Ford has a 'make yourself at home' vibe to it, AND it makes great wine. My favorite continues to be the Petit Verdot, which has an incredible nose and is my favorite Petit in all Virginia. This time around I learned the previous wine maker (OK - the owner's dad) was the first Virginia grower to make a 100% Petit Verdot back in 2002, after he realized it grew well enough here that he didn't need to blend it with anything. I found two new wines since my last time, and had a new vintage of the port-style. The new white wine is a Vidal Blanc which was fairly sweet, and seemed to be a hit with a lot of customers. The new red was a 2014 Cab Sav. I found the Sav surprisingly peppery; it was newly bottled so some time would help it, but it was already more than drinkable. The Chardonnay was still good - all steel, no malolactic fermentation. The Rose was too sweet for me, but I still enjoy the Sherry-style Brandy Station Dulce a lot. The Sangiovese is gone! (Cue tears). The 'most improved' was the 2014 "Snake Castle" port-style (also made with Petit Verdot). I liked this MUCH better than the 2012 vintage; in fact, it could eventually displace the Petit Verdot as my favorite.

The wine was excellent and our tasting guide "Joanna" (sorry if I spelled her name incorrectly) did a fantastic job guiding us through the different flavors.
