Peppers is directly Connected to Days Inn AKA Belmont by Windham, Etc, Etc. -Had I only eaten there the first night, I'd review with a 1 star. We ordered House made crab dip. I already knew. Come on. But..ok. House made crab dip it is. It was like orange yogurt on a plate with hard, crunchy Pita bread for dipping. There was no crab visible or crab flavor at all. And as stated the "Pita bread" was hard. -went to the breakfast buffet in the morning, (free as its a partnership with the hotel) It was eh. Even though im not a fan of sausage gravy i did put a little on my biscuit. Its the sausage gravy that has miniscule sausage bits in it but doesn't smell or taste like sausage. Bacon was ok I guess. Im picky with breakfast. I love making my own. Anyway.. - That night coming back from events, We stopped in again for mozzarella sticks and chicken wings. These were good and a plentiful amount. Not 4 for $8 like most places.more like 7 or 8 for $12 which i feel is better. At least you're full. We noticed there was a buffet open! I asked about it. One time Salad bowl (not per pound) was $2.99 Wish I saw that before I got the mozzarella sticks! And a back room party with full on buffet and music I could hear in my room on the hill until 11pm. I didn't mind that at all. Because once the music went quiet, I could hear the butt smacks in my next door rooms.:( so where I would have given a 1 star the first night, I will give a 2.8 overall. WTH happened to this place?!?! HOW does this place pass Health Department Inspections and stay in Business?!?!?! Yikes! People said it has declined but....whoa and WOW, it is no longer clean and definitely has bland, cold, greasy, burnt and undercooked foods with smeared surfaces, napkins and silverware UNDER the table from previous Guests and sticky menus. Restrooms were filthy with poop, stains and stink. all week after TELLING staff that they were dirty and OUT of soap and Paper towels. It is against the LAW for employees to NOT wash hands with soap and water. We watched in horror as 3 different female servers did things without washing their hands and touched new cups after touching DIRTY cups used by other People. 3 of the female servers were grumpy old women who were not friendly and ignored us and other Guests while they SAT down with Male Truckers to talk! We had to get our OWN coffee and Refills. The silverware was not clean and we had 2 dirty napkins with stains, crumb and HAIR down IN the wrapped Silverware. We moved to 3 tables before settling on the LESS filthy and NOT as smeared Table but it still had food and napkins under it and 1 spoon and knife under the table! That is just being lazy and inattentive to not clean thoroughly between EACH Guests. We were embarrassed as we invited others to join us and it was so dirty with BAD service and undercooked and overcooked food that was not even warm. They used to offer made to order eggs and some things still say they do but the grumpy old women Melissa & Sandra said NO! We never do! .....OK...... The large hispanic woman with dirty clothes and shoes would wipe her nose and mouth and touch the spoons and serving items on Buffets. She put her finger in her NOSE once and mouth once but stayed in buffet area. Melissa was putting her hands in her hair and wiped her face and mouth without stopping to WASH her hands. Sandra also touched her hair which should have been pulled UP and back as the hair IN the silverware looked like her dry and frizzy hair. She picked at her ear AND nose while we were trying to eat. It is disgusting to see ANY one do nasty things and then NOT wash their hands! It is cross contamination and sooooo gross. It made us lose our appetites even more than the blah food in smeared area with food spills and dirty hands touching the surfaces. HOW does this place pass Health Department Inspections and stay in Business?!?!?! Seems to ONLY stay busy with all the Regulars and "Redneck women" in Bar area that plays VERY loud and inappropriate music for Family environment. Customer service and how they handled dealing with catering issues. We planned to use for an event but decided to use another venue to have event on person actual birthday. There's a grace period of 5 days and we canceled within 48 hours. They are holding the deposit until able to book another event which was not communicated. Attended a contracted Easter brunch. It is inexcusable that the restaurant ran out of food as persons had made reservations. Basically, they ran out of chicken which was overcooked to began with. The chicken was dark and stringly in texture. Usually it is because the oil is not being changed. To the credit of the staff, they were very attentive to the needs of the guest. The room was beautifully decorated by the persons hosting the event. It is unfortunate however that the event was spoiled by the restaurant who did not deliver what was contracted for. read more

So... bartender sucked. She was not very attentive, not very friendly and has no memory. Had to ask for a box three times. Coworker had to wait ten minutes to get a water. She definitely has regulars or favorites that she focused on and dismisses others. The food was good tho. Entrees come with the salad and soup bar so that was a bonus. Review of my visit on 12/29/2021. A generous 3-star rating. Good food! Customer service is lacking! When I arrived, the staff wasn't attentive. It took a glance to the lounge/ bar area to get attention! Not inviting when a "host/ greater" appeared to be inconvenienced! I had the prime rib, which was a decent sized portion, included bread rolls, and two sides of choice. A great filling meal for the price! Sever wasn't too friendly, just did her job. This establishment wasn't busy at the time of my visit, more people in the lounge than in the eating area, so who knows what the problem was. Too long of a wait to pay my bill. I stayed overnight at a hotel in the same area, so I wish I could've written a review of the lounge/ bar later in the evening, but the service I received washed that away! If I'm in the area, I'd consider giving this place another try with hopes the customer service improves. read more

Not sure what people see in this place. Food reminds me of what you'd be served at a hospital cafeteria or a nursing home. Very bland and gloppy. Had our annual Winterfest party here this past weekend I would recommend Peppers Grill to anybody that is looking for a great place to have a party or just go get some good food. Our servers were great the room was wonderful and Eddie bent over backwards to work with us on making this the best party eve, everybody raves about the food and the services. I don't understand what people see in this place, or why we've had so many recommendations to this place. The first thing we noticed was the lack customers, there were three other tables, other than the bar. The building was also freezing inside, to the point of shivering even while wearing our jackets. The menu was sparse, and with a limited amount of options for substitutions, meaning none. I ordered fish and chips & french onion soup. They would not substitute the soup for a trip to the salad bar, which by the was was $2 less that the salad bar. The fish was a good sized portion, half of it was near paper thin (tail end) and so over cooked it was impossible to eat, the other half was thick and had a very strong fishy flavor. I've learned from my daughter, a chef, that if the mild white fish such as Haddock has a strong "fishy flavor" it's old and either starting or has gone bad. So I didn't eat it. The fries, well, considering how much scraps of lettuce & tomato that were mixed in with them, it appeared they were scrapped off someone else's plate and onto mine. My husband ordered the Ribeye with a side of green beans; the ribeye was well cooked, overly seasoned but overall had good flavor. The canned green beans were so over cooked they were mush. Not muchy, but mush. May as called called them "mashed green beans". He said the best part was the salad that he built from the limited salad bar himself. After everyone was commenting on how cold it was inside (was in the 60's outside) and everyone having to put coats on, including staff, someone finally turned the heat on as we waited for our check. Wait staff wasn't much better, took our order, deliver it, and we didn't hear from them again until we made it obvious we wanted the check. Never checking in on us. It's safe to say we will not return and will not be recommending this place to anyone. Never again! read more

This place has been around for a long time and has experienced its ups and downs in quality. Sadly, it's currently in the down phase. The prime rib was stringy and the other steak was like shoe leather. The salad bar was not freshened or resupplied the whole time we were there. The service was only fair, for which I am more understanding as post-Covid many are not returning to work. I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express and decided to walk next door to get a late evening sandwich. How bad could that be? Went here for dinner with my fiancé. Service was very warm and friendly from the time we arrived to the time we left. I had the steak with the loaded mashed potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Best steak I have had in a long time. I also had a pretty decent rum and coke. My fiancé had the Bourbon chicken which was very tasty. This place is clean and modernized. It is like a Friendly's restaurant or maybe a Howard Johnson restaurant the food is good and a good value but not fancy. The burger is big and juicy. There is a salad bar that is adequate and all the items were fresh and not canned. The clam chowder soup was full of clams and creamy. My new favorite lunch spot in Culpeper. The bartenders are friendly. The full service bar has liquor, wine and a nice beer selection. They have the usuals as well as even some local microbrews on tap. The lunch buffet offers a wide choice of items with something to please everyone. It has a "country" restaurant feel. The salad bar is simple and fresh. The soups change daily with some tasty selections, you have got to try the stuffed bell pepper soup. If you don't like the buffet, there is a wide selection off the menu. The burgers are decent and a shout-out for the prime rib at dinner time. Several weeks ahead of a celebration dinner we made a reservation for 25 people at Peppers Grill. We told them at the time of the reservation this was a wedding dinner. We spoke to them about 2 weeks ahead of time in person and confirmed the reservation and that we could bring in our own cake. The manager on duty indicated they would make sure there was a cake table set up for us. Two or three days ahead of the date of our wedding dinner they called us and confirmed the reservation. There was no cake table. Our party arrived and there was water on the two long tables but only cups on one table. The server appeared about 20 minutes later and took our orders. The first table received their food and were completely done eating before the last guests even received their food. We arrived at 5:30pm and the last guests received their food about 8:20pm. There were only 2 individuals that ordered appetizers the remainder of the guests ordered entrees only. I do believe the server did her best but the kitchen impeded her. My husband waited several days to call and voice his concerns as he was very upset and the lady manager he spoke to basically just said we are sorry we will do better next time. THERE WON"T BE A NEXT TIME, this was my wedding dinner and I felt disappointed for my guests. read more

So I had the chopped "steak"gravy and mashed potatoes ... although it seems like the most simple thing; I have a problem. The chopped steak is a hamburger, amd 70/30 at best. The gravy is canned... at least I hope so, if someone back there is making this... and they are proud of it... We ordered our Easter dinner from Peppers due to quarantine and it was fabulous. The pork tenderloin with chive sauce was so tender and the fried chicken was divine. The sides of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and assortment of rolls were wonderful. The salad was fresh and great as well. If true, that chef must have already fled or was an imposter. We saw no evidence of that in the ordinary menu. We had 1pm reservations and arrived 15 minutes early, and there was already a line of 20 people in front of us. They were completely disorganized and had lines of people coming in from two different entrances, so one party was always butting in front of people who had arrived earlier. Management was not visibly present and clearly overwhelmed and the place was badly understaffed. The omelette station was unmanned all during the time we were there. They constantly ran out of plates and food. The lines for the buffet were horrible, and people were again butting in line. Terrible experience. Will never return. Exactly at 1 pm we were unceremoniously asked to leave. The majority of the food was OK but certainly nothing special. I would give the food alone 3 stars. The prime rib was undercooked and tough. The price is fair. Not cheap and not expensive. I ordered a Long Island the bartender was reading out of a book to make it thenit still was not correctly made the glad was only 1/2 full before the coke was added ( it was $13.00). The chips and the crab dip appetizers were OK but I could have made both of these at home. Now it was time for our dinner. The salad bar was pretty good and the meals were just OK we had the chop steak and onions with gravy and mashed potatoes and the southern chicken with a baked potato. The chop steak tasted just like a frozen hamburger patty and the gravy tasted like it was from a can the mashed potatoes had no flavor. Moving on to the chicken it was so thin I had to look for it under the tomato, cheese, and bacon. I never tasted pepper jack cheese but the baked potato once I had butter was good. So as you can see it was not the best place in Culpeper Va and we will not be frequenting this restaurant. read more
