I came to a nearby Inn for my birthday dinner last year, and I stayed in a quaint little Bnb in nearby Culpepper. The next day, I started my long journey back home, and it included a stop downtown for a nice breakfast. There were a few options, but overall, the Country Café looked like our best bet. So we parked in the very rustic and fun parking lot, and headed on in. Stepping into this place, there was an instant vibe of everyone in the room being regulars and had been going there for many years. There were pictures of people and newspaper clippings and all sorts of small town stuff all over the wall that I loved. It made me real homesick for my small hometown. So even though we were outsiders, I felt right at home, and our super friendly server helped us with amazing service was start to finish. Looking at the menu, it was small and simple, my favorite. Do a few things perfectly rather than many things poorly. Browsing the menu, I only ever had the one option, the Country Boy Breakfast (The way grandma fixed it! 3 eggs any style served with 2 bacon and 2 sausage, fried potatoes with gravy on top and a biscuit). Usually, normal breakfast items don't fill me up, but boy howdy this one did. Well-scrambled eggs, skin-on potatoes, a well-peppered gravy, and sausage And bacon. So good. I enjoyed this a lot. I also got to sample some sort of apple cobbler French toast. It's not on their regular menu, it was a special they had going, and it was also good! This was quantity and quality! I love the skinny toast French toast, because it's soaked and cooked all the way through. And they certainly gave us enough apples on top. A good breakfast dish. Overall, I am a huge fan of this place. I don't know if I will ever come back, but I can guarantee, if I ever Am near Culpepper again in the AM, I will be making a special effort to return.

Bacon egg and cheese biscuit to go. It was dry.

I'm talking about the blonde waitress. No worries. Thanks for your reply. Eggs were great.

Country Cafe & Catering is a small joint offering tasty breakfasts! I ordered 2 biscuits with sausage gravy, two eggs over easy, breakfast potatoes and two slices of bacon - plus coffee and water. The food came up fairly quickly. First off - a lot of places offer a sausage gravy over biscuits - BUT a lot of places do not manage to get the gravy to actually exude a sausage flavor. But Country Cafe did it - the gravy comes off with a distinct sausage flavor. The eggs were cooked properly, and the bacon was crispy and tasty. The breakfast potatoes were rather bland. Salt, black pepper, and hot sauce were deployed in the appropriate places across the meal. Service was good. I would eat here again. #CountryCafeAndCatering

Good ole fashioned diner/hole in the wall place to grab breakfast! Seated immediately and got coffee served to us right away. Coffee never went empty which is always a plus! For food we ordered the following: Country girl breakfast -very good and added a side of apples which were delicious. Eggs cooked according to preference and biscuit was nice! Country Boy breakfast- husband enjoyed all on the plate including the breakfast potatoes smothered in cheese and sausage gravy. I stole a piece of bacon and it was very good! Pancake-unfortunately the batter was off the day we visited and had a lemon aftertaste. Told our server and she took it off our check. It's not much to look at inside but service is fast and kind and the food is good breakfast food.

Pros: I love small down breakfast eateries. I know that everyone other than us in that building was a local and a regular. I also love a breakfast place that has daily or weekly specials that aren't on their regular menu. Service was super, exactly was you'd expect in the South. And the food was all delicious. Cons: I can't think of a con. This place is just good. They even had a meal that satisfied my boyfriend, and he has quite the appetite. Tips: I got a special, some apple French toast. And it was great. If they have anything like that when you go, get it! Great amount of gooey, delicious apples.

This place was super cozy and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was mediocre but the owner's tomatoes were super fresh and tasty.

Small little place that serves up some wonderful food. The service is great and everyone is so friendly. We stopped in for breakfast and ordered two eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes and a side of biscuits and gravy. The portions were very generous and the prices are really reasonable. The only downside is the parking but overall well worth giving them a try.

Was too hungry to get a "before" picture!

Great food! The biscuits and gravy are terrific, and the coffee is good and strong. Service is fast and friendly, and the prices are good! I love that none of the coffee cups match.

Date of visit: July 4, 2021 I hate to say this is a little hole in the wall" but it is! And it was so good!! We love to eat at local places and this is definitely local! Take the front steps at your own risk and over look the facade. The food was very good and so was the service. Hubby got the steak and eggs. The steak melted in your mouth and the flavors was on point!

Love this place. A must for anyone wanting an authentic southern breakfast. Try the corned beef hash.

Special today. Biscuit and gravy, eggs and some taters.

The interior gives upscale sports bar vibes. We chose a high top table toward the back of the restaurant. Our server ended up being the bartender too. They had $5 margaritas that night so I ordered one and we started with an order of their pierogies. There were four and they were served over a smear of their beer cheese. There were ok. I wanted more seasoning in the filling itself. It was pretty bland. For my entree I got their hot dog with chili and cheese with their housemade chips. I was pleasantly surprised to see a cheese sauce on the dog. It was pretty good. Some of the chips were pretty overcooked. The service brought this score down. I think the bartender was busy but plenty of servers were available. There was a lot of conversation at the bar. We probably should have just sat there. We missed out on drink refills, having our order taken promptly, and getting the check when we were ready to leave. Overall there were a lot of interesting things on the menu. I would want to return to see what else tasted good.

The Sausage gravy was a white, almost flavorless gravy. You could see bits of sausage in the gravy, but it sure did not taste like anything. It was very underseasoned. I added salt, pepper, and hot sauce to impart some flavor to it. The eggs, corned beef hash, and hashbrowns were cooked properly. The corned beef hash is of the canned variety, but it was crisped up nicely. And the hash browns were crispy. I added a bit of salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns, and hot sauce on the corned beef hash. If I had not tried the Sausage gravy and biscuits - this would have been a 4 or 5 star review. I already knew. Come on. But..ok. House made crab dip it is. It was like orange yogurt on a plate with hard, crunchy Pita bread for dipping. There was no crab visible or crab flavor at all. And as stated the "Pita bread" was hard. -went to the breakfast buffet in the morning, (free as its a partnership with the hotel) It was eh. Even though im not a fan of sausage gravy i did put a little on my biscuit. Its the sausage gravy that has miniscule sausage bits in it but doesn't smell or taste like sausage. Bacon was ok I guess. Im picky with breakfast. I love making my own. Anyway.. - That night coming back from events, We stopped in again for mozzarella sticks and chicken wings. These were good and a plentiful amount. One time Salad bowl (not per pound) was $2.99 Wish I saw that before I got the mozzarella sticks! And a back room party with full on buffet and music I could hear in my room on the hill until 11pm. Since it was so great and my adult children and grandchildren were treated well, and so were we, we all decided to go, again, the very next Sunday. Really expected a great time. Everything was different. My daughter in law was treated terribly and looked at by the person who seated them - and the server, as though she was from another planet. We arrived shortly after they did and 20 minutes later was approached by another person (?) and was informed our server would be with us very shortly. 20 minutes later a server came to our table to take our order. There were 2 other tables that had guest seated... servers and management walking around with nothing to do while we waited... The server introduced herself as if she hadn't seen us - though she already took my son's and his wife's drink order - and I was very upset. I was trying to keep things happy, I joked around a little and told the server we'd try and take it easy on her and then I placed my order first and then we proceeded around the table. 45 minutes later... no food was served yet... another 15 minute....no food. My husband got up and inquired and was told it takes time. 10 minutes later, we left and the manager stopped us in the parking lot and informed us our food was ready and they were ready to serve it... My son explained to the manager that we had been there on Father's Day and even when it was so busy and we had expected to wait a while for food, we had it within 20 minutes... and we had already been there almost 2 hours and we were going elsewhere. I felt this restaurant was very prejudice - my daughter in law is Asian and it is VERY sad when she is treated this way, even by the manager. We were all treated badly. She is the most loving and caring person I have ever met. We will never return here... and I love IHOP... but seems like this is becoming a normal for IHOP.
