I'm not sure if the recipe's changed or if they're using different ingredients - but it's just not that good anymore. I recently got the chicken hibachi for their lunch special and immediately, one of the things I first noticed was just how rubbery the chicken pieces were. They also tasted off and not even the yum yum sauce (which I'm pretty sure is different from the one they used to have) could save the taste. They also have a different mushroom soup now that has a lot more spice in it and the taste doesn't match with how it used to be. That being said, I will say that my wife has always enjoyed their sushi here and has never had a complaint on that. Also - the staff here have always been super kind and attentive. We've never had a single issue with the folks that work here. I can't speak of the atmosphere or state of the restaurant since I haven't dined here since 2013. Osaka's is also another staple of Culpeper and frankly - tastes better than Dragon Chef in my opinion. I just wish my recent experiences were as good as my old ones. I placed an order directly through the Quickway website for my husband's and son's joint birthday dinner. I ordered four meals and received only two. I paid extra for delivery specifically so our family could spend more time together at home celebrating their birthdays. When I realized half of our order was missing, I immediately texted the number provided with the delivery information. I received no response. I then called the restaurant, explained the situation, and was told that they had given the driver two bags and that I needed to contact DoorDash. The problem was that I did not order through DoorDash. I ordered directly through Quickway's website. I explained this and asked them to contact the driver to figure out where the rest of my order was. Instead, I was treated incredibly rudely and told that my only option was to drive to the restaurant myself to pick up the missing food. When I asked them to simply deliver the food I had already paid for, I was told they could not do that. Then they hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to a manager. I was told the manager was busy, so I said I would hold until he was available. My husband and I eventually drove to the restaurant while I remained on hold. After 17 minutes on hold, we walked into the restaurant and found the manager sitting in a booth eating dinner, while I was still on hold on the phone in my hand. There wasn't a single customer in the restaurant. I told the employee at the register that I had been on hold waiting to speak with the manager. She spoke to the manager in Spanish, and he gestured to us that he was eating. My husband then asked him to get up and speak with us since I had been hung up on and was now sitting on hold waiting for him. The manager was only about to communicate with us through the other employee and a translation app. He insisted that all four meals had been sent and told us to contact DoorDash. He refused to refund a single dollar, despite the fact that I paid for four meals and delivery and received only two. At this point, the missing food was almost beside the point. The complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic customer service was unbelievable. Mistakes happen. Orders get lost. Bags get left behind. I understand that. What I do not understand is a business refusing to help a customer resolve a problem that occurred with an order placed directly through their own website, then hanging up on the customer, refusing to provide a reasonable solution, and having a manager sit and eat dinner while the customer waits on hold to speak with him. And this happened during my husband's and son's birthday celebration. Quickway had multiple opportunities to make this right and chose not to. Instead, they made an already frustrating situation exponentially worse. I have never experienced customer service this poor. I will never, ever give Quickway my business again. Next time you're ordering take-out, save yourself the frustration and order from somewhere else.
