I wish we looked at the reviews before coming here. We had pretty much the exact same experience as the last reviewer. When we ordered our pizza, we asked for bread, and the waiter said sure, I'll bring you focaccia. Then said, "you know what, I'll bring you a salad too, any kind what do you like.. garden, caprese, Caesar? You pick." My fiance said Caesar, even though we didn't really want a salad, since it seemed like he was being nice and giving us a complimentary salad. When the salad came out, it didn't look very appetizing, but again, we thought it was complimentary, so we didn't say anything. The lettuce was brown and soggy (wish I got a picture), so we only had a few bites to be polite and pushed it aside. We were charged $14 each for the bread (which was good, but we expected just a bread basket) and this soggy, brown salad. Had no server at all, every time we asked for something we got told to hold on, one of my party never got asked about a drink she also got the wrong dish served. We got the "special pizza" which was a Margarita pizza with sausage onion and garlic. In reality it was a cheese pizza with those toppings. They also charged us TEN dollars on top of the cost of the "Margarita pizza" for those toppings. Absolutely horrendous. Will not be going back here. We have been coming here for years, always love the food but the service was slow in the past. Tonight the service was outstanding. The owner always comes over to say hello, our server was polite and the food came out quickly. It was delicious as always. We stopped in for a cappuccino and dessert late Sunday afternoon. They had a few other large groups in the restaurant and some kind of wedding celebration out on the patio. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by a very friendly welcoming staff member that said we could take a table in the restaurant if we preferred a table instead of the bar. We set at the bar, and had a cappuccino, decaf coffee and a lemon dessert that was so delicious. My husband and I shared, it was so good that I should have absolutely ordered one for my self. Greeted warmly at the door,I was escorted to the garden like patio, a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle even on this cool, November evening. I felt pressured to order fast and in a certain way and the staff totally spoiled our evening by being overbearing and breathing down our neck in a better way of explaining it. Only 2 of the cheese on our entire board was appetizing. I had been at this restaurant years ago and many times- it used to be much better. I was underwhelmed and overwhelmed at the same time. Pino is a European Pizza Chain. The owners are French and opened the only Pino in the United States. The menu offers wood fired Italian Style Pizzas, appetizers, sandwiches, many salads, entrees, specials and some French Food. Pino truly doesn't feel like a chain. The owners are very welcoming and all the food is made by scratch. I had the lunch sized Bonita Salad. I received a nicely prepared piece of grilled wild salmon over a romaine salad with avocado and a few other things. The salad was indeed good. My husband had the French Dip on their house made bread. Again indeed good. At this point I'm undecided between 3-4 stars. Atmosphere is very good, Service is very welcoming, charming and good. Food is good but not exciting. So I try dessert and order the Lemon Meringue. The Lemon Meringue is obviously house made. but had a soggy crust and thick not so lemony curd. The meringue was kinda flat and too chewy. After dessert I felt this was closer to three stars. 3.5 stars just like the Yelp average at this time. read more

My favorite North Scottsdale lunch spot let me down. I ordered the Caprese Sandwich to go and got home with this. No mozzarella but they added meat which I said I'd did not want. I arrived 10 minutes after calling in the order and it was already bagged and waiting for me. When I got home to eat it, it was cold and way past its prime. Absolutely the worst service I have ever received. Over 1 1/2 hours and never received our order. Took me 3 times to get a waiters attention to even take my order. So order 3 sandwiches and curious as to how a sandwich takes longer to make than a pizza. 2 tables came in after us and received there food before we finally said we were out. Took my parents here for dinner last night and it was lovely. The inside is very cute and service was attentive without being overbearing. The bread is absolutely delicious and it's evident that it's house-made. The pasta is all made in-house and that's pretty much the only reason to ever order pasta! :) My portobello ravioli was delicious and my parents very much enjoyed their entrees as well (another portobello ravioli and a shrimp vodka). They split a beautiful parfait with mascarpone, chocolate and crushed macaron on top and I very much enjoyed the chocolate cake. The owner of this place practices some underhanded service tactics. When you order something and then the owner says I'm going to make that with fresh pasta, but doesn't disclose that it's extra is misleading. Not only does he proceed to do that, but includes that charge on all of the separate checks. So obviously, when we get the checks we call over the owner. He proceeds to say that it's on the menu. I'm not going to memorize the 5 pages of your menu to know all the little nuances, especially if you're the one saying I'm going to make it with fresh pasta. The kicker? The home bread that's offered to us is $3 each basket, but presented as if it comes with the meals. When my wife left a review of her experience he reached out to her and called us pathetic for not leaving a tip. A tip is earned based on our experience. The experience was terrible, and in fact I'd make you pay me to eat there again with that type of experience. What's truly pathetic is the type of business you run, and the lack of willingness to serve in a service based industry. read more
