The bread that was concerning me.

Started off as a good experience that turned into a nightmare on memorial day-- my wife and I went to grab breakfast before we caught a movie. It was fine. We then came back for lunch.... One of the men, while taking our order, put his crotch in my face while making a scene about trying to order off the lunch special menu. He claimed they don't offer the lunch specials on holidays... okay but this place was empty (i can see why). We let it go and just threw an order of calamari while we were deciding what we wanted to order, or if we should just leave at this point... but we stayed. I'm also a veteran and the treatment here was absolutely disgraceful to the highest degree. We were locked out of the restaurant after they took our order, odd, but we still tried to give the benefit of the doubt. I then asked about the grey marks on the bread after we paid because it resembled mold. The owner (old, overweight man), screamed in my face when i simply asked him about it. My wife told him respectfully to calm down, he spit at me, but it landed on the table near me. (that's assault, by the way). He screamed loudly and told us to never come back. Don't worry, we won't we'll make sure none of our friends and family do either. And we have BIG families. The waitresses seemed clueless or that they were catering to the older men the whole time. It felt so off-putting. Human trafficking vibes. Enjoy bankruptcy, learn how to treat paying customers. -1000/10 DO NOT EAT HERE.

I'm surprised to see so little stars, but that's also Yelps algorithm. Which should be fixed (hint to Yelp). This place deserves five stars. The service alone feels like you're in a small town in Italy, we had three different people checking on us and making conversation. The food was spectacular, the homemade bread for the sandwiches alone deserves five+ stars. My husband and I went in and shared a simple chicken sandwich with a side salad. We also brought home croissants and beignets for our kids and they loved it. The inside is cozy nothing fancy, and it's easy to park and the location is great. I noticed they have gelato, and as I mentioned, baked goods, and there's outside seating. It was too hot as we came in July, but I would definitely make time to do a brunch and sit outside in their small courtyard, which is full of trees and greenery, it was beautiful. Mickey served us and he was so great that I want to give him a shout out, as he made the experience feel like we were regulars. I'll be going back for their whole Bronzino, which they shared their preparation, which involves showing you the fish and then preparing it in a lemon garlic butter sauce (I think that's what I heard). I'll have to redo this rating once I try that, Yum!

Consider yourself forewarned - they will ask you if you want bread. It costs extra. They will push a salad and even dessert and it will cost extra. Every little thing costs extra. I'm surprised they didn't charge for the cup of water. Portion sizes were rather small. We almost always bring some home. Nothing to bring home here. I was told the special was linguine Aglio E Olio with shrimp and asparagus. On the receipt it lists the Aglio E Olio as $20, the asparagus as $5 and the shrimp as $8. The asparagus was the skinniest I've ever seen - like blades of grass. The shrimp were small and there were only 5. Definitely not worth the price. My husband's pappardelle looked like a side order and the meatballs were smaller than golf balls. The taste was ok, nothing outstanding. And service was lacking. The person who sat us seemed bothered that we even walked in the door. I always try to make friendly conversation but she was having none of it. We had just seen a movie at Harkins and wanted to grab an early dinner and since Pino was right there, we thought we'd give it a try. There are so many options in the plaza. We probably won't go back to Pino.

This is our favorite place to eat in Scottsdale. The food is amazing. Always feel comfortable and welcomed. We only visit once or twice a year but always greeted like family.

I visited the restaurant for the first time on Mother's Day with my mom and we had the loveliest time. The service was excellent, the ambiance was so nice with acoustic live music that created the best vibe. We loved the food too, we ordered the Italian chopped salad and it was great along with plenty of delicious freshly baked bread. For dinner, we ordered the Butternut Squash Sacchetti pasta with frangelico cream sauce and almond dust, and it was delicious. But the dish you must try here is the Mafalde Norcina - a ruffled ribbon pasta with wild mushroom, sausage ragu and truffle cream. This dish was so packed with flavor, I finished every last bite and it's a really good size portion. There's a nice large bar and bar area along with plenty of parking. My two favorite dishes that never miss are the Lasagna and the Chicken Parm. Like clockwork, it has always been impeccable. Sadly my most recent experience will likely be my last experience. I ordered the Chicken Parm and when it came out there was something missing from my plate. Instead of the usual Rigatoni Pasta with Vodka Sauce there were a couple of stale chunks of potatoes and some sorry looking asparagus spears. I asked the bartender where is the pasta. She responded that it no longer comes with pasta and that I could order some at an additional charge. It was at that moment that I knew I would never return again. Never in my entire life have I ever ordered Chicken Parm at an Italian Restaurant and not have it come with pasta. That is like ordering a hamburger and it doesn't come with a bun. Then they tell you that you are more than welcome to order a bun at an additional cost. It was like the ultimate slap in the face. I understand that businesses are under financial pressure in these tough times. I can assure you though that this restaurant does not suffer from this fate. There is simply zero excuse for this type of behavior from ownership. Their meals are already priced near the top of the market here in Scottsdale, and rightfully so as their food is top tier. But to raise prices and then remove a staple item off of the menu is asinine. Again, I really do not like writing negative reviews for businesses because I am a fellow business owner as well. However the consumer in me cannot stand for this type of treachery. I am sick and tired of paying more and getting less. This is not meant to deter others from experiencing this place. It is meant to let management that loyal customers are dissatisfied with their business practices. Finally, I am not a cheapskate either. I always tip at least 30% which is way above the average. I am not tone-deaf, I sympathize with restaurant staff and wage gaps so every little bit helps in the service industry.

That misconception disappeared immediately upon stepping through the doorway. Warm, inviting ambiance, full of character. Attending the birthday celebration for an esteemed young man, our table wasn't ready (we were early) and the hostess offered us seats at the bar while awaiting our party. We each had a wine spritzer... may I say that the very few such concoctions I've had bearing that name didn't do justice to what we were served. I've never had anything like this, a "Sgroppino" (I'm partial to strawberry!) and it was perhaps the best adult beverage I've had in a very long time. Many different nuances in a glass. Stunning subtle, many diverse flavors. Mmm. Our bartender was an artist of the mixed adult beverage, a delightful individual with a warm, genuine smile and an encyclopedic knowledge of how to do his job expertly. Rare that you meet someone like this who isn't all measuring cups and shot glasses: everything he concocted was done by eye, and judging by what he made for us, his expertise was immediately apparent. Ben fatto. È andata benissimo, brava. When we'd all arrived, we were escorted to the "garden shed"... a smaller out-building filled with racks of wine, perhaps an ideal place for small wedding receptions or engagement parties. Well-cooled despite our broiling Phoenix evening. We had the garlic bread; someone ordered IL Tagliere, Calamari (no, thank you), and a basket of bread. You know how you go to a hamburger joint and what you're served looks nothing like the photos of their menu? Go to CiBO's web site and look at their menu: What you see in their photos is what you get. One visit and next time you look at their menu online, you'll salivate. Yes, the food is that good. I ordered the calzone. Delicious. Getting through it wasn't pretty... but it was excellent. Huge, very generous entree. Excellent flavors. Our server was delightful, attentive without being a nuisance. Our water glasses never reached empty, and the stories about the birthday boy (and others) were never interrupted. We never made it to desserts. Too much food and amusing stories. CiBO: È andata benissimo, brava.

An extra treat was that they have bottles of spicy oil on the tables, so I was able to enjoy the crusts by slathering them with the tasty oil as though they were breadsticks. On the way out, after mentioning to the bartender how good the oil was, I was gifted a couple of condiment cuplets to-go, which was a thoughtful and nice touch and sort of made up for the server who wasn't particularly warm or informative as I had to ask about the specials and whether or not all the pasta is freshly made, etc. Heck, if you have a great selling point like homemade pasta, talk it up and get us to drooling! There is a variety of seating available, including outside and at the bar--bar has an inside section as well as outside which is a nice design for the lovely weather days. However, it's unfortunate that the outdoor seating is on such a busy traffic corner, so it's not the little retreat it would otherwise be. The lunchtime music was more like happy hour music, not conducive to conversation--maybe for the cellphones-at-the -table crowd it's okay, but being near the Phoenix Art Museum and Arizona Opera, why not add to the cultural experience of the area by celebrating its Italian origins with some Italian music? Even if just added as interludes during every few pieces, it would enhance the ambiance. We had to raise our voices to carry on our conversation, but it was manageable. However, when I came back the next week with a friend with a hearing impairment, it became more problematic. She tried adjusting her hearing aids, but the thumping rhythm kept taking precedence as we tried to find a quieter corner, but it wasn't possible as it is a small space and speakers were close to each table. I felt so bad that she couldn't enjoy a meal there--we both were so looking forward to having a fresh pasta dish, but just couldn't stay. Upon leaving, I felt I should let management know why so I waited to speak to him, offering constructive criticism about the sound level but he was not the least apologetic nor said he would take it under advisement, but was completely dismissive and harrumphy as though we were annoying problems and not potential regulars with suggestions worthy of consideration. How hard would it be to have a quieter area or make a speaker accessible with volume control? People, whether on the spectrum, with hearing impairments, or just lovers of good conversation deserve respect and when it is not given, will go elsewhere....
