Best kept secret in Geneva. By far the BEST cheesburgers in town. Great Italian food too.

I'm trying to be…read moreintentionally somewhat vague with my photos of the food/identifying it since this experience is a blind multi course meal, meaning when you sign up, you won't know what food items will be served. If you're somewhat adventurous with food and like trying bits of everything, this experience is for you. The quality of food was perfection! The table was set beautifully with such vibrant foods as part of the decor. And the service was prompt, attentive and warm. My only critique is that the sommelier who was conducting the wine pairing option was speaking way too quickly to understand the information about the selected wines. I one million percent will be returning!

This was our second visit to FLX table, having dined here during a Finger Lakes visit in 2022…read more During our visit then, we were seated at separate tables that were arranged in the room in a u-shape. I guess this was a post-covid precaution as during this visit we sat at one large table with all dinners booked for our reserved time. It was fine with us, but just something to be aware of. Service upon arrival and throughout the meal was great; we were greeted and sat right away and offered the options of sparkling, still or tap water. Once all guest were sat they explained the farm board (which to me is the best part of the meal- a mix of dips and dippers). The garlic rosemary focaccia and curry butter are the stand outs and we bought some focaccia next door to take home with us at the end of the night. There was a variety of vegetables to dip and bowls of fruit on the table to choose from. They leave the farm board on the table throughout your meal to pick from. They also offered the different wine pairings- we went with the notorious option and were offered to sub in wines from a list provided. We opted to go with the pre-selected options which paired well with all of the dishes. Our menu then included a turo (tuna) dish, a potato dish that I dubbed a fancy loaded potato (roasted and smashed potato with raclette, bacon, etc) which was the standout of the meal. Our main was a roast duck dish with a sprouted lentil salad. Both were good separately but the salad was overly acidic and took a bit away from the duck. We finished with a panacotta which was also good. Overall another excellent meal from start to finish.

Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!

Our friend had been talking about getting Thai food even before arriving there, so we knew instantly where we needed to go: The Elephant in Geneva! We came a bit early for dinner, probably at around 6pm (way earlier than my normal 8/9pm dinner time) but it was perfect for our party fo 6. They had a really nice ambiance and I really loved the screens all around the restaurant that made you feel like you were looking into an aquarium, super cool and cozy. The staff and servers here were amazing! So hospitable, kind and got our orders in so quick. When the portions came out we were shocked at how large the plates were. For me and my hubby, our portions were JUST right and we definitely didn't need to share since we were starving. A lot of our friends did end up taking some of the food home since it was a lot. I ordered the green curry and it was so delicious. My only "complain" would be that I wish the curry was a bit hotter (temperature wise) since it felt a bit on the lukewarmy side. Other than that, it was perfect and just what we needed. We had vegetarians and gluten free in our group so it was the perfect spot for everyone to find something they could eat. DO NOT SKIP the Thai tea ***instant drool*** it's DELISH!

We almost left when we saw the long line out the door, so glad we stuck it out. We waited about 30 minutes just to order. Then the sign said "45 minutes to get your food after you order". Thankfully ours came in 20 minutes. Worth the wait if it took longer though. I would go back frequently if it wasn't a full hour from my house, but I'm already dreaming of going back. Leftovers heated up perfectly the next day. (Full disclosure, I ordered some pork hash rice and it was so gross. It reminded me of dog food. My husband ate it though, and liked it, so I can't judge.)
