The music is so loud (even morning) that everyone has to talk at the top of their lungs to be able to communicate with each other and it's just too loud. Couldn't wait to leave because of that. Buttermilk Pancakes were perfect (only on kids' menu) and with real maple syrup! Best pancakes I've had in years. Huevos rancheros were good - tortilla chips instead of tortillas but it worked, with plenty of salad. Fish and chips were a huge disappointment - fish was over-cooked, super dry - but the fries were great. I'll definitely give them another chance and update this rating if needed. Always enjoyed the 3-Zero Cafe and was sad when it closed. It was fantastic to hear another The Pilot Light and they didn't disappoint. The eggs and frittata were perfect coupled with a the house made potatoes. The Dutch baby is especially worth the wait. We were so happy to find out there is another on airport food spot to fly to on the weekends (not too many in CA). Pilot Light food was mediocre at best, nothing special, but for the portion size and quality of food it was WAY OVERPRICED!!!!! We ordered the eggs benedict w/ bacon & avocado @ $18 a plate!!!! Our friend got some type of breakfast sandwich and it was pretty plain looking but about 3 times the amount of food as our Beni's. All it was was the muffin & eggs part and a couple pieces of frisee lettuce as garnish. The bacon was extremely overcooked, and there was maybe 1 tablespoon of hollandaise on each egg and a few thin slices of avocado on each. I guess all the other 4-5 star reviewers here are ok with feeling ripped off. I'm not being cheap, I don't mind paying for a good quality breakfast and understand restaurants have tight profit margins, but $18 a plate and not even an orange slice on the side???? There are no wait staff. You have to order and pickup at the counter. Which is fine, but geez guys, make your food worth coming back for!!!!!! read more

Small menu but very tasty breakfast, with fresh ingredients. I'm an exception that I don't like plates mounded with food, more than I can comfortably finish, so the Huevos Rancheros were perfect for me. There is a nice back porch with picnic tables from which to watch the light airport traffic of private planes while you enjoy your food and good coffee. We're happy to add it to our goto spots for breakfast in the future, and we'll need to drop by for lunch sometime too. read more

this is a newly opened business, at half moon bay airport, located on rt1, just north of the harbor, there previously was a breakfast restaurant here.... We stopped for a Saturday morning breakfast, opens at 9 fyi. We watched a private plane pilot land, gas up and come in for a meal. The food is really really good, we had huevos rancheros, served w/ nice salsa, fresh ripe avocado, eggs prepped as requested. Also had a veggie frittata, served w/ a nice green salad w/ really tasty beets, roasted squash, sesame seeds, and some barley/rice and roasted potatoes and veggies, (home fries). Will come back to try some thing called a Dutch baby, and if this meal is any indication it will be nicely prepared and very tasty! read more

Tried Pilot Light on my lunch break. The $100 burger was very good. The thick cut fries had a perfect amount of crisp. The place was empty for 1pm and the food came out quick. I wasn't a fan of the cucumber infused water available for self pour. Also the metal cups were wet on the inside when pulling out of the stack which was a little gross. That said the food was solid and the staff seemed friendly. I definitely plan on returning. Wish it was available for delivery / DoorDash. read more

First venture into the old 3-0 cafe. New owner, new decor. I missed the old airplane models hanging from the roof. However.... The new ownership has a much brighter decor. Really light and welcoming. Greeted as we walked in the door. Grabbed a couple of menus and figured out what they had. My bride and I both ordered basics. She had a smash hamburger and loved it, great spiced fries on the side. I went with a basic breakfast (but gave a long hard look at the eggs Benedict another patron was devouring). Eggs exactly over medium, bacon tasty and not too crispy. The breakfast potatoes are excellent! Onions, green peppers, crispy potatoes just the way I like 'em. We will go back, and I will try the eggs Benedict. Good food, friendly staff and a great vibe. I want to thank the folks at Pilot Light for accommodating our large group of 12. It's a great to place to go with so many people. You order at the counter and either you pick up your food or if they can, they will bring it out to you. This allowed us to avoid dividing up the check at the end which was really great. Finally got around to checking this restaurant since it changed hands from the 3 Zero ..lots of tasty options to choose from that won't seem like you are wading through the NYT Sunday edition trying to find something interesting ..Splashed out on the Million dollar Burger and it was just perfect ..right proportions of every thing a million dollar burger requires minus the price ..served on a real Burger BUN with real sesame seeds ...none of the Brioche nonsense served here ..fries on point ..restaurant is super clean and all the Staff were friendly and more than gracious and attentive ...we will be back read more

We were so excited when this reopened, though miss the old name - 3 Zero Cafe. This was our favorite place to go and often went once a week and brought friends. Have had a long-standing tradition of having their Mickey Mouse pancakes here on the last day of school for our grandchildren. But $18 for pancakes is just plan ludicrous. We'll stay home and have home- made Belgium waffles with all the fixings at Grammies house. How can pancakes and a hamburger cost the same? I've eaten there twice during the soft open. I found the food to be fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. I ate the waffle with fruit compote and it was good, not mushy, tasty fresh topping. I went back for lunch with friends and I had the rock cod sandwich with slaw & fries. Again the fish was good, not greasy, fresh but the fries were amazing- apparently their specialty. I don't normally eat fries but the spice topping kept me going back until I finished them all. My companions ate the burger and also enjoyed it, but loved the fries and slaw. I am looking forward to a full menu and regular hours. Happy to have this spot open again. Finally I have to mention the cleanliness of this restaurant. The former restaurant was filthy, especially the restroom. The new restaurant is sparkling clean and remodeled. read more

Its a great spot to watch small planes! Breakfast was a mixed bag. Order #1: Avocado toast with a side of crispy bacon. We were excited they offered crispy bacon! Avocado toast was just OK - smashed avocado (vs sliced) on thin slightly toasted bread. Bacon was cold like it was sitting on a counter 10min. Order#2 - basic breakfast: egg as ordered, tasty warm taters. Half toasted bread and cold sausages that appeared undercooked. We did not complain, too hungry to return a plate, they might have fixed it if we did. However - expecting hot food when we ourselves pick it up directly from a kitchen we can see is not unreasonable. Disappointed. read more

Unexpectedly excellent fresh ingredients and flavors. The humble side salad, as in "would you like fries or salad" had farro, beets, slices of summer squash and Bibb lettuce. The portobello burger had grilled onions, squash, lettuce, tomatoes and excellent dressing. The Reuben had thin slice pastrami, an excellent slaw and red onions. All while you watch incoming small planes land while seated at their ample backyard outdoor tables. Need to return and try the rest of their menu. read more

I was so sorry when the old restaurant closed at the half Moon Bay Airport. Have been going there for years great breakfast great lunch! but I noticed the pilot light opened up I thought that's wonderful I'm gonna give it a try. I ordered the fish tacos, horrible. As soon as I could smell the fish cooking I wish I change my order. It's a very unusual deep fry process they do and just not for me. Do you want great fish tacos go down to half Moon Bay Harbor. Fresh fish and a batter that's like silk it's so thin on them. I ordered the fries which were cooked in peanut oil. I don't know why they use peanut oil it makes the potatoes hard and leaves a taste in my mouth. Bottom line I didn't finish the fish nor the fries. Very disappointing. I walked out actually feeling a little nauseous and a bad taste in my mouth. I really wanted to like this place. But I'm afraid I won't be back. It's too bad. I don't know what the restaurants like that they have on the other side of the hill that they operate as well. Hopefully better than this. In all fairness there were lots of cars in the driveway so maybe a lot of people like the food. read more

We also ordered fish taco and that wasn't so great either. They were very small. We're going to wait a while before going back.
